Just wanted to start off and say a BIG THANKS for LinuxBozo and his amazing infuse mod which lets us use the other samsung roms (JVQ restricted )
I have been experimenting ALOT with various roms and thought i would share some of which i have tested out so far, the only one which gave me some issues was Sensation 2.0 , seems like when you reboot, sometimes you get no netwrok, then reboot, and icons are missing, so its a question.
Obviously this isnt really an OFFICAL rom for the Infuse, but id like to know if anyone else has had nice experience or recommendations for use with this dude's rom.

So this hack seems to be another way to get Gingerbread on your phone. Interesting.
I have been running Darky all day with no problems. Very fast and stable.

Hellraiser uses the same Rogers RIL that Infused v2 does, so probably not. (RIL is one of the things that gets swapped out.)
It's often hard to tell for sure because many frameworks won't show HSPA+ even if the RIL/modem are operating in that mode. Hell, even our original Froyo ROMs were broken in that way - they displayed UMTS when in HSPA+ mode. (UMTS is plain vanilla 3G.)
GingerReal - V7.1.4 JVQ
Been running GingerReal V7.1.4 JVQ with Infusion GB kernel and I must say it's snappy. I have not had a single problem with anything. And from what I read Quadrant scores don't mean much, but I got a 3500 OC at 1.6. without Stagefright. I did'nt know Stagefright was til I Googled it. But my phone is very fast and I am very happy. Thanks Linux

Which ROM did you test for JVP , i might give it a whirl, i finally finished going through all those roms, The Vibrant rom wasnt very exciting, and seemed to lack the extended power menu drop down which has Reboot, recovery download mode and such, thats a big thing for me.
Darky was my favorite so far,I might try Sensation. If anyone wants to test out a couple JVP roms and try adding in the APN settings, lets see what comes up and post which rom you tested.
Thanks everyone for their input on this, im getting more interested now and i will be trying to use the Infusion Kernel with some of these roms and see if i get a performance boost.
Im not sure if its just me, but whenever i reboot ANY of those roms which are installed with Linux's software , it seems sometimes the icons on the app drawer l ike disappearing, then when i reboot, apps reappear, but the Network to ATT gets cut off, then i reboot again, and sometimes its normal..........Any ideas?

BTW, the default behavior in Sensation is no extended power menu, but if you use the app "Theme Settings (included in the ROM) you can change this.
As to the other issues - that's a new one, I haven't seen it before.

I ran Hawkish 4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032599
I chose it because I saw that the ROM included the background effect from the SGSII, which while I have the SGSII & this feature seems to throw my photos to the way over saturated side - its more appealing for home screen settings and every day use since everything just looked almost wet or gooey. But the setting didn't work I imagine a kernel conflict, but I'm sure this could be built into one of our ROMS later and I wouldn't mind helping out with putting it together.
Overall I thought this ROM was a little laggy for the phone, I'm sure there are others out there that could run MUCH better or smoother.
I find it funny that we get a stock phone and find it boring so we flash a brand new phone to something completely different within an hour and when the next phone comes out we want their stock stuff so we can see how it is on OUR phone...HAHAHA -addicted

I think those are controls for Voodoo Color which:
1) Is extremely difficult to implement on our device (significantly different screen)
2) Is not necessary on our device - our screen fixes most if not all of the problems VC was intended to fix.

Yes sir, I believe you are exactly right. I normally don't like over saturation, but on a HUGE screen it looked great with some gooey gingerbread green stuff around it. My photography looked horrible especially HDR shots, worth it though. The colors on the SGSII and this phone are pretty different tho. But a lot to do with the same resolution on a smaller screen. The screen on the Infuse is a big (no pun) factor that held me to it rather than the SGSII

i had to change the modem to get it work really smooth, but yes this set is pretty good.

Okay heres me scenario, hope it helps understand.
1) started off with phone already rooted and such and previously had Infused V2.00 full., Downloaded a JVQ rom ( like Darky's ) , and then downloaded Linux Bozo's rom/mod ) Put both of the zips on the ROOT of the internal SD .
2) backup info and boot into Red recovery.( Shut off device, then hold Vol - and + while pressing power ), release power and continue holding both volume keys).
3) Perform the following
Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache partition, Wipe Dalvik Cache
Install zip from SD card and select the ROM you want to use
Do install from SD card again and this time select the Linux Bozo zip
4) Reboot and you will be in your rom after 10 minutes ( be patient, it takes time ). If you want better performance, install the Infuse GB Kernel. Get it here

I just followed the exact instructions the OP posted up above. With 1 mishap, when I downloaded what I thought was the ROM....I only got the lock-screen (what happens when you read things way too fast & think you know what you did) which I already downloaded and flashed
I mounted the SD card while in recovery and pushed the file containing the ROM over to the phone - flashed it - flashed LinuzBozo's stuff - rebooted & things went well all I had to do was add APN's back.
I really like my current set up BUT I'll probably find something else, before I load the ROM I want I'll run this again with a JVP base and see how things go & defiantly let you guys know. Now I'm curious why it doesn't work for other people.

I think sometimes people either have a bad flash or don't properly wipe data. Same reason lots of people randomly had problems with Infused. (I haven't tried JVP myself though.)
Well, i just finished wrapping up my favorite roms, and i keep jumping between the Sensation rom, and Darky's Rom .
BUT!
I always data wipe, clear cache, factory reset
Idk if this helps, but i saw theres a new Linuz BETA 6 , perhaps this might help problems that a few have been going through.
In closing, i really hope more ROMS designed for the Infuse come fast , i got a feeling with this new mod there will be many to come

This is a very good point. The data wipe is vital for the Infuse no matter what. I have tried it with and without the wipe & all sorts of very strange things go wrong at random. Market apps wont download - Errors when using data - Youtube errors - issues with email. Each time I did it different ones would act up too, never the same.
Full Wipe so far has fixed it without failure
*Edit - Full for me same as prasadudwadia said above - data, cache, and factory reset.

I personally have nothing but random reboots/bootloops on all of "UndeadK9's" ROMs. Some ppl say this as well, others swear its the most stable ROM out there.
MT4GS Lite 1.2.3 is going to be extremely stable... But Bulletproof uses the same ROM base and its awesome with stability and battery life with newly implemented UV/OC kernels.
Very active/ helpful dev who knows his stuff on Bulletproof.
Not trying to tell u Lite won't be stable, but bulletproof will b just as/ if not more stable and battery life will prob b better.
Just my spare change.
I recommend Bulletproof. However I dislike the green hue, so I just copied and pasted all the apk's I wished to replace from Lite.
Some of the rom threads in the dev group are freakin massive(random) any way... thinking about trying out bulletproof im reading good things, but right on the newly updated thread it seems to say s-on may be a problem.
Can somebody clarify if im using the fast boot method to flash a new boot.img prior to flashing a new rom, should i worry about not having s-off?
Side note when if at all should i be wiping the data prior to flashing a new rom?
Out of those two I suggest Rubix expresso 1.3 over on Rootz. It is the final iteration of Crack Injected. It is my go to ROM when I want to get back from the bleeding edge and go to software that just works. I have links to it on the Rootz threaad as the other links are dead. Flash 1.2 then 1.3 to get set.
It is very close to Bulletproof but it's tweaked slightly in a couple of places. Bulletproof is great too.

Nope, s-on (unlocked) is no problem. Now that I was able to figure out how to set one of my doubleshots back to S-ON and then unlock it through HTC, i'm running fine and you should have no issues.
I will be supplying a new kernel for bulletproof when I get a chance to update the ROM again, meantime it's still the stock kernel in it but with an insecure boot image.
If you have issues right after flashing (wifi doesn't work) then you'll have to flash the kernel separately through fastboot, but again, for S-ON unlocked this is no problem.
----
You should always wipe your data and cache between ROMs, but on bulletproof (and any script i've ever released, actually) I handle all that for you so you can just flash and go.
I just think it's just good coding practice for the developer to take care of this step instead of leaving it up to the chance of the user not doing it.
I know this isn't the first thread of this kind to be made but everything seems out of date, a month marks a lot of updates fixing old bugs and making new ones. Anyway, I'm looking for a custom ROM and possibly a separate kernel that is "stable" (as stable as a custom ROM could be) and battery friendly. I was going to do AOKP or paranoid android but I hear in later updates they got buggy from using newer radios and some people are getting the sleep of death. I'm also interested in the Siyah kernel for the lulzactiveq governor but I question its stability and compatibility with other ROMs. I'm a noob and this is going to be my first flashing of a ROM aside from the massively fail attempts on my old Droid Pro. I'm already rooted and unlocked and made a NANDroid with clockwork recovery but advice on flashing and software is cool. I hear with Odin the yellow triangle pops up when you download boot but with cwr it doesn't which is why I plan on using it. Also, exactly how does one clean flash? I know dirty is just clearing caches so which should I do?
Using the latest OTA with the G7 baseband, still ICS.
TL;DR Stable bettery-friendly ROM, advice on flashing, possibly a kernel for ROM for better battery life?
Thanks a lot, sorry again for making the millionth thread on this matter!
Big fan of CleanRom here. I've tried different JB-based roms but keep coming back. I'm on CR 2.5 now with the HD radio, but have been on 2.1 with CleanKernel previously, along with the stock and G7 radios.
A "clean" flash will have you wipe data/factory reset as well. You should do this when switching Rom bases. I dirty flashed from CR 2.1 up to 2.5 and haven't had issues though.
Edit: FWIW, I can routinely see over 24hrs on a charge under normal/low usage.
Edit 2: If you care about your apps' data, you might want to go ahead and run a backup with something like Titanium Backup before doing a clean flash.
I'm no expert but I will answer a few of your questions. I rooted a month ago and have flashed every rom I can find, every rom I used has its own quirks and nothing is absolutely perfect.
It wouldnt hurt to just flash a few roms and see what you like best. As long as you have your backup and you can boot into recovery I dont see how it could hurt right?
At this moment I am using LiquidSmooth-JellyBean v2.0 RC3. Its quick and really clean but I have to manually cycle WiFi to get it working after I leave a routers range (i'm sure theres a fix but I havent looked yet)
A Clean Flash- Wipe your dalvik cache from recovery>advanced and data wipe/factory reset . This is wiping all your phone settings/data. Backup before this point since theres no going back unless you have a backup.
A Dirty Flash- you are installing on top of an old ROM without clearing all of your cache- you can retain settings but will have a high possibility of problems.
GoodLuck!
Thanks, I'm looking at cleanROM now. Is it ICS or JB? Usually it's either mentioned or there's a [JB]/[Jelly Bean] thing in the title but it's got nothing.
Also, does anything not work like wifi-direct or NFC? I know sometimes it's a per-person thing and other times there's a bunch of stuff you have to do to get things working properly.
If it doesn't have wifi or NFC and is ICS based I may as well play with other ROMs then. I don't want my phone OOC for too long though b/c I'm looking for work and lack a house phone.
Touchwiz ICS is the most stable at this time! It does not matter if its Beans, Synergy, or Clean Rom...they all are based off of VRALG1 Touchwiz... anything different between those are just additional mods baked into a stock rom. AOSP still has RIL issues, meaning the data handoff between 4g/3g is bad. Alot of times when Im on the outskirts of a solid 4g area the device's data connection flakes out.
CleanRom is using VRALG7 base and that is ICS. From what I remember CleanRom was pretty stable.
Quick definition:
Anytime you do not format your system, your not doing a true clean install.
Factory reset/data, cache, dalvik is a considered a clean install only when running the same base version (4.0 or 4.1 for example).
When changing base versions you should be doing all that + formatting your system (cwm under mounts and storage) or your just flashing a jb rom on top of an ICS rom. Issues arise because of this. Most devs are calling for this too.

Synergy R73 seems to be the best so far. No reboots. Fast stable. Had Clean Rom Prior to it which was also great. Tried Jellywiz but kept having issues.
So only ICS roms are stable? I kinda want jelly though, which ROM seems the most stable? I hear older versions of AOKP and Paranoid work better then the newer ones. Siyah + AOKP might be neat, alternatively Euroskanks CM Kang project with the same Siyah kernel. I've read some great things about lulzpowerq which is why I want that kernel so much, probably with SIO or NOOP for i/o since I hear they're wonderful for battery life. The main battery problem is from using the HD radio though, right? So just flash to G1 and it should be good?

Most of the issues you hear about are caused by overclocking (anything above 1728 MHz is just for bragging rights or quadrant scores), underclocking (anything under 384 MHz is asking for trouble) undervolting (don't get ridiculous here ... your CPU needs power), using a task killer and/or applying unnecessary tweaks (e.g., V6 Supercharger ... totally unnecessary).
My phone, wifi and GPS work flawlessly, and my 4g speeds are off the charts.

Well according to that thread "You may see tiny blue text on the bootloader screen indicating that it is copying." So I would assume that's it.
To be honest, when researching this whole lost IMEI issue, I was so paranoid that I did EVERY type of backup that was discussed in these forums. I saved every backup file to my dropbox account, my phone, and my computer just in case. I'll admit, I'm a bit more care free when flashing now, but I have yet to experience a lost IMEI issue.
If you're paranoid like me then it never hurts to do the other backup methods.
hello, i have uploaded my rom to ICS and have it been using for the past 4 months
last week i came in to the issue of the battery status being unknown, 999% or 1000% battery power
i've fixed this issue in the past by flashing the rom
but this time i have trouble, it seems that ever time now that the phone is powered off and powered back on the battery status returns to 999%
i have uploaded the rom egb-nightly-2012-07-01-signed on my phone and no matter how many times i flash the battery status is lost
so i am here wondering if there is a simple fix to this, downloading a apk file or anther way to configure the phone so it will read my battery status or do i have to simply buy a new battery?
please help and thank you in advance
You sure you did the flash right?

Did you reset batt stats in recovery?
Also when this did happen to me, i was always told to just cycle AP mode, and it did work.
Yours seems more persistant though.
I would make sure batt is fully charged (charge it with phone off if your that unsure) and than first boot goto cwm and clear batt stats.

installing egb-nightly-2012-07-01.zip - Done
wiped again in rom install file
installing gapps-ics-20120420=signed.zip - Done
phones first boot----battery status set 100%
unplugging phone now and rebooting - battery still reading 100%
reboot #2 - battery reading 100%
reboot #3 - battery reading 100% problem maybe fixed
if issue continue i will carry on with this forum
i seem to be having trouble with the quick reboot now... seems to be just powering down my phone....
I've had trouble with the reboot before in eaglesblood and to be frank I think its normal to some degree for most roms. As for the battery problem I've noticed in my experiences that if something like that were to occur it usually dealt with my kernel but I mostly run 7.2 and not ICS so there maybe some differences here.

thank you for the response
last night i modded the dpi and installed the market mods and rebooted the phone and the phone battery info crashed again...
anyways today i flashed my phone loaded a older version of ICS, reboot my device and the battery status is still working after i changed my dpi, for some reason i feel the issue is fixed now but i will post in the future if this issue carries on
thank you
ok i was updating framework animations and yet my battery went back to 999%... WTF
why is it doing this?
ive never had so much trouble with my phone
what am i doing to the phone that it makes it do this
i ask again could this be just battery issues?
I had a lot of issues with the phone reboot myself. That sounds crazy. My only issue I had was the date and time would not sync off my Sim card. Seems like a lot of people don't like the eb rom and I don't know why cuz I love it.

The battery shows you 999%?, maybe a baseband problem...
but like iron man would say... 999%??? cool....
i am currently running cleanrom 5.0 and flashed the ktoonz kernal kt747 and needed help with the KTweaker app that was installed with it, im a noob with roms, kernels,etc.., ive been learning a lot and fell confident flashing and all but can anyone help me with the settings in the KTweaker app, im mainly looking for battery performance and this kernel was reccomended but after 1 day of running it my battery performance was horriable, thank you in advance for any help.
I'm on cleanROM 5.0 also. I tried the other kernals but ended up flashing the rom over again and kept the default kernal as I am getting great battery and performance. 14 hours and 19 minutes at 20% battery, with 4 hours of screen on time. If this helps any. I know you were asking about ktoons but thought I would give you this.
thanks i liked the battery performance on cr5 just fine, just was trying to get a little more, and like i said im still a noob can i dirty flash the cr5 or do i have to clear everything like when i first flashed rom?
All I wiped was both the caches and flashed the roms again. All my apps stayed. Everything works like a charm.
I want to flash this to my rooted but stock
I want to flash this to my rooted but stock phone... I have not changed recovery because I want the updates.... Is there a way to do this where I will continue to recieve ota updates.... totally updated at this point to jellybean... I kept having problems with roms and am sick of messing around with them.
Side note how is your reception after the last update .... mine pretty much sucks.
Thank you

No you cant. And for the reception part there is nothing you can do other then flashing a ICS radio with odin but then I think your ota will fail too. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34053-of...zon-sgs3-sch-i535-odin-or-recovery-flashable/
If you wanna flash a JB leaked radio (besides K3) then you will have to rock a custom recovery
