Browsing Google for new roms to check out, review and breakdown for my own learning pleasure, I stumbled across this hero rom of Android 2.1 with SenseUI.

Tried to google search the archive name as well as the full 4shared link but couldn't find any articles about it anywhere. (If you know where its from let me know!)
Flashed it on my 32B Magic (MyTouch). This rom is INCREDIBLE. Booted up from flash to setup in less than 3 minutes, everything in setup ran smoothly and quickly (with one exception, I'll note below).
This is SO FAST, right off the bat, no SetCPU, no nothing, AND THE PHONE COMES UP INSTANTLY WHEN RECEIVING A CALL! No force closes so far, no non responding apps, NOTHING.
I've found 2 problems with the rom - Gmail setup can't seem to find a data connection (but the browser and IM clients do - weird? is this a CDMA rom? How do I check?) and the homescreen reboots anytime you hit the "Home" button - but it only takes a second or two to finish. I'm going to fly spare parts onto it and see if I can keep home in memory.
If anyone knows who's rom this is, let me know! Also, if it IS a CDMA rom, can someone port it to GSM? About Phone says this is the HTC Hero, but the Kernel says it is "Unavailable".
TRY THIS ROM, ITS AWESOME! If I can get gmail to work and the home app to stay in memory this will be my daily rom until CR brings his Slide rom out of beta and it runs this fast.

Phone calls (in and outbound) - working and SUPER fast, there's NO lag!
NO CAMERA!
wifi - broken? says its unable to start
bluetooth - same as wifi
Gmail - broken? Can't get a data connection to gmail
Market - not working, because I can't get into gmail :-(
Browser - working, browsing the web as we speak
Keyboard - working (HTC_IME with no lag or weird ram-hack like problems.)
SetCPU (installed through adb) - installed and now this thing is just... I mean, there's no words for it. its fast. its really fast.

I'm working on building off of this rom - but I'm not copying and pasting in a ktichen, I'm actually working to rewrite code, replacing drivers, updating with a new kernel and above all else, making the apps work together. Right now I'm working to fix sync and make the prgram list actually display all the installed apps. This is tedious work, but Ill update you guys on my progress as it happens. I think this is a great rom to build off of because from the start, its super fast and as long as I keep speed in mind as I work on the rom, I think the end result will be a good one. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them, both for fixes and modifications to this rom. I'm new to android development so I'm doing a hell of a lot of reading right now but I'm a 8 year programmer and do it for 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, so it's not like programming is new to me - just the android side of it. I'd like to thank Cyanogen fo his wealth of tutorials, repositories, and tips because most of the stuff I'm reading and learning was written by him.

[5/9/10] On the google sync issue - I originally thought it was a Hero caching problem, having found a ton of information of this happening on stock hero devices, but it turns out it wasn't. In the process of discovering this, I've also found out why the installed apps don't show in the Rosie app list. Its a bug with how this rom was built in SDK version 6, when the original Hero rom from HTC was build in 7, it was backported (not sure if I have the correct terminology there), breaking a few things. I'm going to recompile in 7, fix the system date format (which is also causing an error in the Google sync) and hopefully get sync working, then I can start looking at other minor bugs and optimization.

PS - somebody find out where this rom came from so I can give proper credit to the original developer(s)!!!
Edit: I'm told this is Drizzy's original Hero 2.1 (Thanks Chris!) with broken drivers. I'm going to try to contact Eugene to see what modifications he made and also check through online documentation to figure driver **** out. Props to Drizzy/Eugene - this build may be more or less broken (well, it was your first and you had plenty of updates to it since then) but damn, nice job on such a fast rom, its awesome even for alpha.
im a little scared to try it...so i wont zackattacks 2.1 1.1 hero is fast enough and stable enough for me right now.

Yeah, I found reviews from this gamercore guy, but he doesn't say where he got it or who made it. He does rom reviews. You can find a bunch of his rom reviews on youtube - I doubt he makes them all, but I could be wrong.
He just review roms.. By the way this was uploaded last year must be 1.5 hero not 2.1 Old news

You're wrong. It was updated TODAY - and its 2.1 - I'm in it right now - firmware - 2.1

Could be - but I don't think so, this thing is old, uploaded last year, I can't get ZX's 2.1 hero to work and I haven't seen a ZX Team update on their 2.1 Sense threads on here or on androidspin, plus this one has a ton of extra features, like the animated browser progress bar from the original espresso rom.
seems interesting. can anyone confirm if this is 2.1 as OP suggusted or 1.5 as mediaman suggusted?

I'm going to change APN, hope to get gmail and market working, then download new screenshot app, fxcamera and spare parts. will update within the next 30-60 minutes hopefully with a full review and screenshots.

10/18/2010 - minor update, APN list updated to match from CM6, WIFI should be working out of the box now.
A FULL WIPE IS REQUIRED. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO SO WITH FASTBOOT APPLY BELOW ZIP BEFORE FLASHING THE ROM, IF YOU BOOTLOOP, WIPE AGAIN AND REPEAT, IT'S NOT MY ROM, IT'S YOUR PHONE.

Other Prerequisites:
You must have a custom recovery image installed.
DangerSPL Required, but radio requirements are the same as if you were installing CyanogenMod 5 or 6. if you have a 2x or 3x radio dont mess with it. you're fine. in fact. NEVER mess with your radio/spl unless an expert tells you to.
One More time for clarity, if you can install CM5/6 you can install this rom as well, if not. it probably wont boot. CM6 Radio/SPL requirements stand.
T-Mobile USA Froyo FRG83 (G1 Version, Bluetooth should be working.)
if you are running CM6 and want to test it out, just nandroid, WIPE and flash away.

CM6 Kernels, no new radio requirement (CM6 compatible radios work fine), no new spl requirement (DangerSPL or equivalent required for G1) Original T-Mo/Google Libs/Framework, cm6 libs and shell still intact.

i'm working on the bluetooth for Dream/G1 tonight, hopefully we'll have something tomorrow or later in the night to test.
please test out the bluetooth now, i changed the firmware file and it *should* be working now.

The current CM code is already all set up for the new official stuff, and the nightlies have it. Everything works, no need to mess around.

I guess everyone missed it, or don't really care (I don't necessarily...), but live wallpapers aren't in these official OTA roms...

Love it, except...
I've been through plenty of ROMs, and so far this seems like the most stable and fastest running. However, everything seems to be working great except for the Messaging application. Every time I open it, I get a FC. No idea why, tried reboot, reopening the application from different locations, but no luck. Any thoughts?
Update: After letting the phone sit shutdown overnight, the Messaging application is working fine, along with the rest of everything. Awesome job on this one!
might try this later before going to sleep.
btw, what does FC mean? i new to Android actually... bought a 2nd hand white G1. had the keyboard replaced for about $30 converted and saving up for another $30 for Digitizer replacement, mine has this big crack the halves my screen top and bottom, lol.
FC means Force close, when an application get closed unexpectedly
the official one already has working bluetooth...

You would have to push the livewallpaperpicker.apk from a cm6 build to /system/app/
this will allow you to pick livewallpapers for your home screen. be warned, they don't run nearly as good as they do on cm6
can we flash the swap script that works with cm6 with this?

Netflix is apparently blocking unsupported devices when you try to login, I uploaded the apk to my xoom to test it and it did not let me login.
I have the app and have not yet been able to get it to load. I just get a black screen.
However, I noted that the details on the market page state it is official for the Incredible running 2.2, and I'm running CM7.
Has anyone else tried with CM7?
Assuming there are indeed compatibility issues, I'm hopeful the devs will find a way to make it work, because I'm not looking forward to going back to stock, but I need Netflix.
(Actually. Right now, I'm thinking about loading up one of the dual-boot options with some stock Froyo. This is worth the effort.)
Edit: The dual-boot option is awesome and all... But then, I tried again in CM7, and I found that I spent a few hours heavily tweaking my phone for nothing but the thrill; the app works, and I was watching Ong Bak 3 in seconds. Since I don't need a Sense rom, I undid the dual-boot configuration.
So. Works on CM7.

Im getting the exact same thing on latest CM7 nightly
Running stock (rooted) 2.2 and mine force closes immediately after trying to launch the app. Somebody mentioned something about Flash 10.3 so I updated and still get force close. Any ideas?

I was wondering if anyone has gotten the Comcast Xfinity Play app working on any ofthe gingerbread CM7 roms. I haven't had any luck yet. It's running well on my rooted Nook Tablet and my Samsung Galaxy S4g (don't remember which rom it's running). It's also working on all of the ICS builds that I've tried. I would really like to get this running on GB!
EDIT - Well I had the day off and I played around with various builds. There does NOT to seem to be a CM7 rom that is capable of using this app. The funny thing is it doesn't ask for root access through SU the way it's suppose to so there is no way to choose deny. I even whent through SU and chose deny as the default preference and still no go. The app does however play flawlessly in every single ICS build that I've tried. There is more content on Netflix so I'm going to stick with gingerbread but it would be cool to see the app eventually work.
I wanted to edit this instead of deleting in case anyone else has the same question!
Running Viper ROM and it's only on Android 4.2.2. A lot of apps I can't use because it's not supported, and now the latest Google Play Services has totally broken my phone
Any good ROMs to recommend running a newer version of Android? I need good GPS as I use my phone for navigation a lot
Update to this post: Running jrior's CM 12 from original android dev forum... working pretty well. Performance is a lot faster than Viper 4.2.2 actually. Some apps don't work well at all though, haven't figured out exactly why. Occasionally camera doesn't connect and just shows black too, fixed by a restart. Overall, not bad and gives me the ability to use modern apps on my phone again.

How did you get to stabilize it. For me the rom is restarting every few minutes. Sometimes it restarts when I try to install any apk(either from play store or side load).
