Has anyone gotten Netflix to work (rooted/nonrooted)..
& Has anyone gotten a Wiimote app to work? I can confirm they don't work on Stock, but what about root?
Thanks.
I've tried every version of Netflix I can find (modded, device check removed, stock), can't get any to work. I'm rooted running altered beast rom v4.
I saw another method for Netflix. If you're rooted you can edit the build.prop file to make it look like you have a different supported device. I haven't tried this. It seems like a hassel and I'm not very confident it would work.

@Atp
I used Universal Root to root my tablet, not sure if that makes a difference or not. But I have notice on some websites it works and others it doesn't. I was able to actually load one of the web games from Facebook last night. I didn't release anything, I just installed and it worked! I first tried it on youtube website and it worked.
ok,i will check what's wrong on my mechine. the news you give is very important for us.thank you.

I don't know what version it is but it works great on my Samsung Vibrant. Good job man.
Wooaa an Offcial Adobe Flash player for 2.1??? Incredible! Well, now I'm on MyTouch Slide with 3rdSense Rom with 2.2 , and installed this app, but as the previous apks I've tried with, it only installs but doesn't do anything but take space, although... the browser won't show any page ;P
I wonder if I was on 2.1 stock rom, if I could have worked...
If this one for 2.1 is an official, I hope they make an official for 2.2 too

UPDATE 5/4: It has been determined, although it remains unclear as to why, that you need a modified kernel in order for this mod to work. It is my intention to get Hulu working across the Honeycomb platform, so if you have any input as to why Tiamat's kernel is required, please address it in this thread.
See original post in Xoom forum
Transformers: I will keep an eye on your dev forum and update this post when a fix is found. I imagine custom kernels are right around the corner.
Doesn't work for me. Hulu wants me to update to a newer version of Flash.

Can you confirm that have followed all of the instructions? Are you using Dolphin Mini? Did you change the user agent to desktop? Did you enable Add-ons to Always On? Uninstalled the old Flash and installed the modified APK?
I need to find out why it is failing. Thanks for your help.
not working
Not working here either. Followed instructions perfectly, and it tells me I need to have Flash installed to view the site...

no go here...
Is there something different about the Xoom and the Transformer that allows it to work on one but not the other?
I guess no one has this working
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
It's working on the Xoom with users who are using a custom kernel (tiamat). Something in the kernel is making it work..
Unfortunately, we do not have any custom kernels, so there's no way for us to find out what is added in that one and add it here..
DROID x gb.595 gb yesterday netflix worked fine but today I open it and requires an update to continue. I hit update and I think it tries to go to market to get it but doesn't find it and fails. So it wont run without the update. Anyone else having or have found a fix?
EDIT: I Found a temporary solution. I uninstalled it then reinstalled it and it works for now
I am having the same problem. Uninstalling did nothing form me.

I'm new here. Just came from the fascinate forums. I found this one earlier today and I watch boondock saints 1+2. Works flawlessly, I'm currently on stock (rooted ) 2.3.3. I had my buddy download it on his stock 2.2 and it worked for him. So..... here it is.

Just wondering if anyone has tried out the new Hulu Plus app released yesterday. Evidently, the Inspire is one of six devices currently supported. However, it's not working for me right now on GingerBeast. I'm guessing maybe the app is expecting Froyo and doesn't like the taste of Gingerbread.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
Same here on CM7 nightly, changed my build.prop to reflect an Inspire 4G but still getting device not supported. I think this is similar to what happened during the whole netflix thing where phones on custom roms w/GB wouldnt work ><
I saw an Engadget article this morning about Hulu Plus, see my Inspire as one of the accepted phones. Rush over to the market to download, but when I went to run the app I get the error that it's not compatible?
Running MIUI, so I'm thinking maybe cause my phone is showing as a DHD?
Same here. Inspire 4g, rooted, running cm7.. Sigh, more waiting..

Works just fine on my NookColor CM7.0.3 / Gingerbread 2.3.3 (running off external SD card). The nook color has been modified (in model / manufacturer only) to appear as a Nexus S though. However, I did that before now to get the Netflix app to work earlier. So, I made no other changes, I just installed the APK and it worked. It refuses to video streaming on a Froyo device, I have.

Now this I don't understand, I went and edited the build.prop so my model name shows as an "Inspire 4G"....but it's still not working
Perhaps I need to reinstall?
The nook probably works because the nexus S is supposed to be GB, officially the inspire is froyo

It's not related to the model name in the build.prop. The GingerBeast build.prop has "Inspire 4G" as the default model.
Does this app require flash or did they leave that out like Netflix did in their app?

Not working for me and I'm running Honeysense. :/
not working on inspire ace either.
I've tried it on Gingerbeast, the Ace_Cingular_US_1.84.502.11-Radio-26_06_06 _30_M posted by attn1 a while back, Honeysense 6, and latest LeeDroid both with and without Fenny fix.
No go on any of those with Hulu+.
In the main Hulu+ thread in the Android Apps forum, a couple people claimed it worked for them on the Inspire. I assume that is on an unrooted, pure stock Inspire. It seems to have worked for some people on other rooted devices though, so I don't think it is root that is throwing it off, but who knows what it is.
I'm stock rooted, running attn1's stock Ace_Cingular_US rom, and it is working fine on my phone.

Are you referring to the ROM attn1 posted named Ace_Cingular_US_1.84.502.11-Radio-26_06_06 _30_M or what comes with the hack kit?
Are they different? Ace_Cingular_US_1.84.502.11-Radio-26_06_06 _30_M did not work for me with Hulu+.
Edit: Actually, I used Ace_Cingular_US_SL_1.84.502.11-Radio-26_06_06_30_M_PD98IMG.zip from same post that has Side Loading enabled. Wonder if that's the problem?
Edit again: And does your ROM work with Netflix too? Did you install anything special for that? Thanks!
I flashed the one with sideloading enabled. I have Netflix installed to manage my que. The video streaming does not work for me and I have not attempted to install any fixes to get it to work. I am bone stock, just rooted. If you tweaked to get Netflix working, it's possible it may have Hulu broken.

Hmmm, idk. The file is actually a package of rom and radio and supposedly wipes all data when flashed. The Inspire is listed as one of the devices that is supported, so there is no reason it should not work on the stock Inspire rom. Did you do a manual wipe and clean before flashing?

Just tried wiping with FULL_WIPE_1.3.zip (the ext3 version), then installing the RUU build via hboot with the PD98IMG.zip. Did nothing at all after that but add my Google Account and download Hulu+ from the Market. Hulu+ still has the can't do video on this device message.
Frustrating. Did a force stop on Hulu+, cleared data, and I still get the message.
Giving up for now. Hopefully, smarter hackers than I can figure it out so we can run it on any ROM.
I tried the TPC mostly stock ROM also and it failed there too. I tried Honeyogen, not expecting it to work, it didn't.
Hi,
This is a subject that came up while discussing something else in another post, but it's important to me so I hope posting it here will be helpful both for me and others.
Many times, apps that are available in the Market state that they are uncompatibale with kindle Fire. When I got the apk file from another source, I was able to install it on my rooted KF with no problems whatsoever.
I don't know why this happens, but I understood (from the other thread) that the device's ID cand be changed so that the Market thinks it's a different device and will let me download and install the app.
How can I do that? I have the original KF without any ROM changed, only rooted.
If someone could post directions as to how this could be done (newbie level, please...) it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Yossi

Thank you.
It seems the solution in the thread only works on nonstock Kindle Fire.
I haven't changed the rom on KF and don't really want to do that unless I have no choice.
Is there another way?

You could try sideloading your apps but I recommend rooting or installing a ROM based off stock like MoDaCo.

The problem with the default Kindle ROM is that the bar at the bottom is oversized like two times compared to the default Android one. A lot of apps are perfectly fine on the Kindle, but there are some that get cut off because of that bar. So because of that, they simply don't mark it as compatible. If we had a fullscreen option globally, it wouldn't be a problem.

I tried this, gave up and installed Gede's ICS.
Every time I tried to download & install an app with Google Play It would crash. I tried uninstalling, installing from KFU, fixing permisions with the TW recovery and still would crash.
The other issue with using the stock kindle and root is your Build.prop may prevent you from getting many things that you may want to run that the kindle may be capable of running but can't due to restrictions set by the dev.
