I've been looking around and all I can find are apks for Froyo for the Droid X Keyboard. Does anybody know of one that is compatible with gingerbread? All the froyo ones FC on me. Or seeing as how Gingerbread just came out for the Droid X, can anybody pull the Keyboard from it?

I asked the same thing, unfortunately I don't think it's coming. I was told the Incredible keyboard is now multi-touch on 2.2. It's not nearly as nice as the Droid X though.

You'll have to wait until the X gets Froyo then we'll be able to rip the multitouch keyboard out.
what about a port of the droid2 keyboard?
is that multi-touch?
that should be froyo right?
have a system dump...not sure exactly what needs to be done to port the keyboard though...
EDIT: got it working: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753156
can someone get this to work?
Modified Droid X Keyboard by WJD

its the droid 2 keyboard, its the same as the X
Is it just my phone, or does anyone else have the problem where using the droid x multi touch keyboard fc's with the FroYo update?
EDIT...running deodexed froyo with netarchy kernel and riptide theme.
I just installed it and yeah it is force closing on me too.
Have you played around with swype yet?...it is really bad ass.

If you haven't seen yet, the htc froyo keyboard now supports multi-touch, just throwing that out there.
I'm still using swype too btw, but the stock option is really quite nice.
Very true about the multi touch on the stock group sense keyboard. I like it. I however dislike the sound of the space and the enter. If anyone could verify the change it would be great.

NO it does not work. It will not work until Froyo comes out on the DroidX and someone ports over the new version.
Look at this thread, someone has a Droidx running 2.2
I still use swype (quite frequently). However, I still prefer pecking for really long posts for whatever reason.
And yeah...I did realize that the new HTC keyboard does have multitouch and a better word correction system...so I guess this keyboard is obsolete now
Is there any way to gett the droid multitouch keyboard to work on the stock 2.3.3 rom? I cant get acquainted with another keyboard after using that one for so long...lol
same problem here cant find the key board for 2.3.3
I've been waiting FOREVERRRR for this.

Close enough? Basically the same, new features. Google or XDA search Gingerbread keyboard for 2.3 etc. There are many thems and mods too. I'm running a blue Ginger keyboard on MikG 2.3 (Android 2.3.3) right now.
It might be more of a mail app issue.. but the new keyboard has the send etc buttons over the message body when in landscape mode. The old one didn't do that. I'm looking for one closer to the old multi-touch keyboard because of that.
Lots of keyboards for the EVO HERE
To this day I still believe that the keyboard from the Droid x or Droid 2 is the best keyboard to come out. It has huge keys and is very quick to type on. But for some reason it doesn't play nice with gingerbread roms. I can push the apk/lib file to system and lib on Skyraider 4.3 and it works just fine. But using the exact same method it doesn't work on CM7.
Does anyone have any insight into why this is (because SR4.3 is GB leak based)? Or can someone fix it up for cyanogen? My knowledge on this is pretty limited. Thanks in advance.

Skyraider is a 2.2 based rom.
I dint have any other info, sorry, just fyi. I loved that keyboard the most as well but the gingerbread keyboard is almost as good.

You're right my mistake, he just put in some pieces from GB not the base. And the GB is almost as good, but the key size from the X one is what really draws me. Plus I think it looks nice. And yeah that's what I was wondering if it could be pulled out of the update, which is beyond my skill set.

I want this keyboard too. Almost makes me want to go back to older roms just to have the keyboard.

Yeah I know same here. I love CM7 but skyraider is nice just to have it. I'm going to take a closer look at it when I'm back at my computer tonight.

I've been looking for this for months and haven't had any luck. Hopefully someone figures something out.
Until someone finds a fix, I downloaded the keyboard app called MultiLing Keyboard from the market, and seems to work good. the keyboard is almost identical to the droid x keyboard. Also you can change the settings and increase the keys/font size.
Hi all I am thinking of getting the Droid x2 and I want to get a feel for the keyboard. Does anyone know where I can get a working Motorola keyboard apk file?
Inspire running gingerbread, not rooted

might be able to find it in one of the ROMs over in the Droid X2 forums...

Most likely, It'd require the framework of the DX, sorta like the Sense keyboard
