I ordered and recevied a Sensation from Vodafone on the 20th of May, it arrived and overall I was pleased with it. Then I noticed that the audio on video (tried different players and different files) was cutting out after 1m38s. When I skip forward any amount the sound returns for another 1m38s.
I spoke to Customer Services and they suggested I return the phone for a replacement, which arrived today but suffers from exactly the same problem.
I've posted about the problem on here and noticed other people doing so on other forums (including Vodafones) but nobody seems to have a solution as yet.
Do I return the phone and see if the same happens or swap out for something else? I don't want to lose the phone but if I have to wait on a HTC/Vodafone fix I feel like I could be waiting months.
Thoughts?

nope u dont have to return it. Just change the format its recording.
I have had this problem with my own htc device as well.
Just go to the camera setting WHEN its set to record video, and change the format.
Sorry, should've clarified that this is on films encoded as .avi files, rather than video shot on the phone itself.
does this also happen if you encode the movie as a .mp4?
also does this happen using all video players or just the video player that comes shipped with the phone?
have u tried different players?
Tried different players and different files, although both were .avi.

I have the same problem, I use qqplayer and my videos work fine now.
The issue appears to me to be if you use hardware to decode, if you choose software the .avid files seem to play Ok with any player you can change these options, I have not found a way with the stock player yet.

Thanks very much for the qplayer tip, this seems to work with no problems.

I'm watching videos on the DS but the screen will not rotate, am I being an idiot? or is this an issue? I used the standard player and failed and have also tried mobo player and get the same issue, when charging the phone its near impossible to stand up the charging port is underneath.
BTW not sure if its relevant I am using GoLauncher ex
Thanks
Mike

Hi King,
I can't instantly see a way to rotate the video playback to the opposite side either, sorry.
I've tried Rock Player as well as the stock video player.

I have this same problem too. I even went back to AT&T to exchange my Infuse for a new one bcos I thought it might've just been the phone since i haven't found anyone else who's had this problem.
But it happened again after I got my new phone. Do you have Advanced Task Killer ? I found that it happens less frequently if you uninstall that app. When I had that app, it would happen to me every day after a couple hours of restarting my phone. But after I uninstalled it, it rarely happens. I don't know what's still causing it though.
never had issues with Video Player ( built in one )
I have lots of Mp4 , and Divx and even Avi files ; all of them play
Weid thing though I tried to play some DEMO FILES (samsung demos ) couple didnt play any SOUND!!! but then when I played on PC I ahd SAME ISSUE
SO check the file QUALITY BEFORE u decide to change phones
There are few ways to download and convert "YOU TUBE" videos , I msotly convert them after they downloaded ( FLV-> Mp4) so that way I can use on Both iphone(wife) and My Andriod phone!!
HD movies and Music Videos on Infuse ROCK !!!
I get this randomly with mp3's. it's happened about 3 or 4 times. and it won't just be the built in media player. if it happens there it will also happen with google music.
I'm getting this with youtube videos quite frequently. I'm on infused 1.3.0. Was hoping it was an issue with that rom but it sounds like it's happening on stock phones too!

I have been having this same issue with all media on my Infuse 4g for a while. Restart has always resolved it but it would come back multiple times and day and require a restart. For me, removing the official twitter app resolved my problem and I have been going several days now with no media issues. I don't if this will help or not, but I wanted to post it just in case.
Wow, nice find! Next time I have an issue I'll try uninstalling the Twitter app and see if that fixes mine too.
I shall report back.
Reboot into CWM... and go to fix permissions. Worked for me and I've never got the problem again

I'm having a lot of issues with Pandora and slacker radio either freezing up or starting to play a song and then skipping to the next song. Anyone else have this?

same issue
I have the same irritating issue.
i am especially irritated because i owned an iPhone 4 right before i made a switch last week. had the iPhone 2 years, never had an issue, and i use semi-daily.
hopefully they address this issue pronto
I have the same problem. I originally thought that it had something to do with beats audio, but I now think that it's a symptom of the overagressive memory management on the HOX. Check in the "general" area for many threads about this. Contact HTC to complain and get support rolling, too.
I'm thinking it was a memory issue too but I wanted to make sure. I had the 4s and this is really frustrating to me

I have been having the same issues with Pandora as well. However, it surprisingly worked very well last night after I updated to 1.82 RUU. I used it again today and no problems. Maybe it was related to an issue with the wifi problem in 1.72.
Honestly, I had the "Pandora randomly skips to a next song" on my iPhone as well. Might be a server-side thing.
Coming from my iPhone 4s it had no issues with Pandora. My one X had to buffer each song and sometimes double skips songs.
It also buffers my google play songs
It is a small annoyance because my iPhone was quick and buffer time was less than half a second easily.

was having the same problem, if only att would unlock the damn bootloader we could flash cm9 and it would save our worlds
Compared to Pandora on iOS, the Android equivalent is utter garbage.
No lock screen controls, longer buffer times, connectivity issues, less updates than iPhone version, etc. Considering we have better hardware than iOS this is unacceptable.

I've noticed the same issue on Pandora and thought it was just me. Is this an HTC issue or Pandora though?
I also have the same issue.
I'm using the One X international version with version 1.29.401.7. What about you guys?
Slacker is fine for me

Have noticed this issue using MOG and occasionally Spotify as well. I think it's an HTC issue personally.
Use Jango!

+1 for the pandora skipping problem. this is coming from an htc evo with no problems.
had another random problem too. i use pandora in the car, headphone jack to aux in on car stereo. for some reason occasionally when i get a text, email, or any other notification, it stops the song to play the ringtone, and when pandora comes back on it's at a much lower volume. tried unplugging and plugging back in, no go. my only option is to completely exit pandora and open back up. also happens sometimes when i use the mic to speak a text to it.
Also having this issue on my One X. I thought it may have been a bad install so I uninstalled it and tried again. Same result.

I too have tried several reinstalls to no avail.
maybe its the data connection?
I remember that I used to have this problem on my htc magic also, but it wasn't the memory management but the data connection (my home wifi).
because for some reason my wifi only stayed connected for about 3 mins and would restart.
so I'm thinking it may be the same issue, that LTE data doesn't stream as consistently as hspa. so maybe the ro.ril can be edited for more stable connection??
just a guess so i could be completely off
I highly doubt its a connectivity issue. I have very good data signal when i use pandora and it skips. I dont use it on wifi, because im running or at the gym so it isnt a wifi issue. Im almost certain it is a memory management issue that is killing the audio and then pandora wants it back so it starts up a new song which brings the audio back to the foreground til another task wants the number 1 spot which will eventually kill the audio again.
After the ics upgrade every time I try to stream video I get this error. Sorry, video cannot be played. Our another variation thereof depending on which video app I have set to default. I have tried with several different browsers, and with streaming default set to several different video players.
Has anyone encountered this or have a suggestion for a fix?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
First have you tried anything to fix it cause there are s few basic things you can do to try and fix it.
I've tried searching for the issue but haven't found any results.
What are some of the basic things I should try? Or is there an existing thread I could review that I could get a link to?

Try clearing your cache, I use App Cache Cleaner, it is free on the Play Store. If the video in question is a streaming video from the internet, while in the Play Store find Adobe Flash Player and make sure it is installed. If you have a custom Recovery you can clear your delvik cache as well.
Done, still does the same thing.
This started after the ota update to ics.
I'm running the stock ROM.
Any other suggestions?

Sorry but the only other advice I can give you is to do a factory reset and see if that fixes it. But remember to back up as much as you can, although because you are on complete stock you are somewhat limited to how much you can back up.
I will be going to a concert in May. Since I have been to 1 concert already while owning this phone I noticed that recording video is a nightmare on the Audio part. It sounds really bad. My question, is there any 3rd party app that will do a better job? Or is this just how the phone is? I came from the HTC EVO 4G and while the audio wasn't perfect it was a a lot better than what the Nexus 5 can do.
I am stock and not rooted.

video software question!
With extended compatibility that covers many websites and file formats, All Video Downloader is the download option of choice for videos. Because it's done in dribs and drabs, however, the number of simultaneous downloads allowed is very limited. It's also worth noting that the software is at times unable to download some videos. During our test, an error message appeared several times when trying to download a video.
