Rotate Video - HTC Desire S

Ok this may be a total idiot question, I have the Desire S very happy although cant wait for it to be rooted.
I'm watching videos on the DS but the screen will not rotate, am I being an idiot? or is this an issue? I used the standard player and failed and have also tried mobo player and get the same issue, when charging the phone its near impossible to stand up the charging port is underneath.
BTW not sure if its relevant I am using GoLauncher ex
Thanks
Mike

Has anyone had the same issue? It is very annoying.

sorry, don't watch videos on my phone and don't do landscape......

Hi King,
I can't instantly see a way to rotate the video playback to the opposite side either, sorry.
I've tried Rock Player as well as the stock video player.

[Q] At my wits end with Vodafone Sensation...

Advice or help required.
I ordered and recevied a Sensation from Vodafone on the 20th of May, it arrived and overall I was pleased with it. Then I noticed that the audio on video (tried different players and different files) was cutting out after 1m38s. When I skip forward any amount the sound returns for another 1m38s.
I spoke to Customer Services and they suggested I return the phone for a replacement, which arrived today but suffers from exactly the same problem.
I've posted about the problem on here and noticed other people doing so on other forums (including Vodafones) but nobody seems to have a solution as yet.
Do I return the phone and see if the same happens or swap out for something else? I don't want to lose the phone but if I have to wait on a HTC/Vodafone fix I feel like I could be waiting months.
Thoughts?

nope u dont have to return it. Just change the format its recording.
I have had this problem with my own htc device as well.
Just go to the camera setting WHEN its set to record video, and change the format.
Sorry, should've clarified that this is on films encoded as .avi files, rather than video shot on the phone itself.
does this also happen if you encode the movie as a .mp4?
also does this happen using all video players or just the video player that comes shipped with the phone?
have u tried different players?
Tried different players and different files, although both were .avi.

I have the same problem, I use qqplayer and my videos work fine now.
The issue appears to me to be if you use hardware to decode, if you choose software the .avid files seem to play Ok with any player you can change these options, I have not found a way with the stock player yet.

Thanks very much for the qplayer tip, this seems to work with no problems.

[Q] HTC Watch - playback issues?

I was just playing around with the HTC Watch app, and when I went to preview the trailer for a few of the movies, it keeps telling me it can't be played. I tried it on WiFi and on 4g... but no go. Anyone else having this problem? Or does it work for everyone else? It plays back for me on the 2 downloaded trailers that came already on the phone... Battle Los Angeles, and that other movie. Just curious.
Thank you
I just tried it and trailers play fine!! But I'm useing double twist to play my trailers. Try and download it and see if that works for you!!!

nope, that didn't even work. same message saying the video cannot be played. i don't know what the deal is. the 2 preloaded/downloaded trailers, Just Go With It and Battle:Los Angeles, play just fine. but when i try to play any of the trailers for movies i am browsing, it won't work.
you may have the same problem im having.. try and shoot a video with the camcorder and play it back.. does it sit at a black screen? and after you finally exit the app and hit the volume rocker does it say media volume? instead of ringer volume?

I did have a problem with it saying media volume and not ringer volume a couple days ago. Even when no media app was open. A restart fixed that though. And it fixed my playback issue in HTC Watch.

I had the same prob w/ a video I recorded and just got a black screen, so I restarted and it worked fine after that.

Netflix in the market. Sensation supported!

Don't kill me since I started another Netflix thread. I just wanted to get the word out. Netflix is in the market and supports the Sensation! No more apks to link and download.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient
I installed it from the new market from a link in appbrain last night. No issues.

Got it! Thanks OP
now if they would just fix it on my Iconia tab...
about to cancel anyway if they don't learn to match the streaming catalog with the DVD catalog.
good eye. Thanks OP.

LOL I wish!
Was using Netflix and meant to hit cancel when prompted about the upgrade as many of us are used to. Instead I hit the upgrade so it took me to the market and started downloading.
Nice! Its showing up in my market. I had to delete my currently installed version first though. It would not update. Once I deleted the original it downloaded from the market no problem.

i don't watch movies on portrait mode either, but with the sensation I like to plug my charger in when I am watching a movie at my work desk. and with out auto rotate the plug is on the bottom where it's difficult to charge... with some of the other netflix apps here i can have the plug up top

Ah, I guess in that case autorotate would help

The app is great... but yeah... it's need rotate. Still better IMHO than using a hacked 3rd party app for it.
Okay who rated this thread 1 star?
Must be a Hulu employee.
This is applicable to the US only I assume? I don't see it in the Market.

You are the second Canadian to mention that. Netflix in some kind of battle up there?

Video on thunderbolt doesn't work right.

YouTube and built in player doesn't work allot the audio plays but not the video does anyone else have this problem. And know how to fix it.
I am having the same issue. The only work around is to do a battery pull... and sometimes that doesn’t work either. I’ve tried factory resets, and they seem to work, but then it starts again. My issue is the video freezes but the audio is ok.
I hope there is a fix for this soon.
Seems to be persistent among all phones from reading the comments on the android Market. By the way try clicking and unclicking the hd button when you go into portrait.

Might not be related but I had this same issuse before. Turned out netflix was the culprit. After watching netflix I could no longer watch any hq videos until the phone is restarted.
