Battery stats for those on custom ROMs

Im trying to convince myself to get the Inspire and sell my atrix.
The last thing that is making me reluctant is the battery. I consitantly get between 30 and 40 hours between charges on my atrix with 3 to 4 hours of screen time. I know i wont get that with an Inspire, but im wondering what kind of stats people are seeing who are running custom ROMs. With my capitvate i saw a nearly DOUBLE battery life effect between stock and a custom rom. im hoping there are similar results on the inspire.
for those on custom roms, im looking to see how many hours you get between charges. ideally, how many hours between charges, with how many hours of screen time, wifi, blue tooth, etc. and im also interested in seeing the battery life of those who are OC/UV.

Someones gotta have info for me!

Inspire battery usage....sucks!
If your main concern is BATTERY USAGE, then DO NOT get an Inspire.
No matter what ROM or other MODS made to an Ispire, it is accepted by all that have one, that the Inspire has very low battery uptime, especially when compared to other platforms.
Stay with your ATRIX for long battery usage and uptime. - Glenn

I just swapped my Atrix for the Inspire this past Sunday, and i can tell you first hand you're not gonna get the same battery results you did with the Atrix. Personally, I don't need to get 20-40 hours of battery life from a phone. Don't get me wrong, it is nice, but I don't need it. I just want to get at least 8 hours (while I'm at work) from a battery and I'm fine. However, I do have my charger with me just in case and i also have a car charger.
I rooted my Inspire Sunday night and flashed the stock rooted rom and couldn't be happier. I got about 13 hours out of the battery yesterday while I was at work and I used it under normal circumstances..calling, texts and lots of fb checking etc. Oh, and I didn't have any overclocking, underclocking, themes or nothing...just the rooted the stock rom.
The inspire is a lot more smooth also when compared to the Atrix. I was all for the Atrix last week. But after actually having the Inspire....its the Inspire FTW!

Its not my main concern. Just the Las thing I'm considering. A lot if other things about the inspire are appealing. Just looking for round about numbers.
Can I get 12 hours out of itwith 2 to 3 hours of screen time? That might be enough for me........If can get more than that, then I would def be sold.
Of course all this would be expected only when all aetttings on phone for Max bat life applied

Speak for yourself. My Inspire lasts me the day with a ton of juice left over. I'm not a super heavy user, but I will have sometimes 60-70% battery life when I go to bed on light use days. On heavier use days I'm still at 30-40% when I go to bed. Unless you are watching youtube videos or something for hours on end, battery life is fine I think.

To extend battery life I adjusted my screen brightness back to 30% with no auto adjust, seemed to help battery life quite a bit and did not make much difference in how the screen looked. Today I am trying auto brightness, but using power saver to switch to lower screen brightness when the battery hits 40%--I'm at 7 hours and the battery is still at 70%. Honestly, I don't think a person could even watch a movie on a flight, for example, the screen draw on the battery is that bad. If I keep the phone, I will have to get another battery.

I get 22-24 hours with light average use, about 14 hours of moderate use. CM7, nothing special done or flashed.

I was replying to the OP's original statment regarding his Atrix battery time in reference to the Insire's battery time:

My results are based on percentage of time versus overall time, based on an average 8h work day.
Stock rom:
at the end of 8h I had an average of 55% left
Revolution HD 4 Beta 2:
at the end of 8h I had an average of 35% left
Stock rom rooted and bloat removed, HSPDA enabled:
only have one data point and it looks good so far. I had 75% left with the same average use as the other roms above. Why this one is so much better I don't know.
Also the stock rom came with the stock Radio 06.04.06_M but with the root downgrade and then custom rom to Rev HD4 B2 I had to upgrade the Radio to one that was suggested, which is 06.03.24_M2.
Also, one thing that I noted which was also seen on my Nexus One is that when I use the GPS my car charger is not able to keep up and I will loose battery % as I drive.
All in all I am very happy with this move from the Captivate. Many see it as a lateral move, but if you ever where in the need for the GPS this is definatey an upgrade since the GPS on the Inspire is spot on.

my first run with the inspire resulted in 14 hours since last charge (down to 15%) with nearly 3 hours of screen on time.
granted i adjusted every possible thing to be less battery consuming, and one hour of that screen time was laying in bed in the dark with the screen on the lowest brightness setting.
i think i may be able to work with this.

yeah i am close to an impulse buy on the inspire too, just because its such a great price. even full price at 399 is insanely cheap when most phones are 550 full price.

the battery does suck. but everything else on the phone is so great, that i still am happy i got it

I am a pretty hardcore user and I never have any issues with battery at all. I believe a lot of these battery issues that people have are due to flashing with a low battery, which causes the battery's "memory" to get messed up. If people flashed with a full battery, or did the battery reset procedure after flashing and charging, we would stop hearing about all the horrible battery issues. User error, not an issue with the phone. If it was a phone issue, I would absolutely be experiencing the problem as well.
There are also bigger, better, higher capacity batteries up to 3500 ma/h if you REALLY need more battery time.

alright so i had a lot of issues with getting great battery life out of the phone. i'm only writing this to help people that are having similar issues. obvious, relative to teh atrix (with a ridiculously larger battery), the life is NOT that great. BUT i've gotten 24+ hours on teh phone with certain tweaks.
first off, rooting is a pain in the ass, but a necessity for any power user. My HSUPA speeds are often higher then the HSDPA speeds...and I can tether too! Anyways most important part of tihs is underclocking. I have my screen set to underclock to 3xx Mhz with screen off. I can't even tell the difference between when it is underclocked or not. I don't OC since for whatever reason I don't see the option to and don't care to force it.
I also set my brightness to 20% or less when i'm indoors, which is usually where i am. I also turn off the radios when i'm not using them, or wifi when i'm in range (i think its better than hspa), and sometimes autosync too (there are widgets for this). i also disabled facebook live feed syncing and set it to update when i open the app, and to sync contacts and htc sync and other useless stuff to once a day.
if you want something to turn off your radios when your screen is off, check otu juice defender. if you want to track your battery over time, try juice plotter. with the way i ahve it setup now, if i leave the screen off for 10 minutes. the battery drops 1% or less PER HOUR. One night, it finished charging at midnight so i took it off, and didn't put it back on a charger 1 am the next night with 10-15% left.
anyways, i hope this helps at least some new inspire owners. good luck with rooting if you haven't yet, it took me 4 hours, but itw as COMPLETELY worth it

Got another data point for the stock rom.
This time after the 8h my battery was at 55%, however I spend considerable time in a clean room were I have no signal at all. My other phones would usually drain much quicker in there and I believe it's because it's seeking a cell signal all the time.
So far I am very happy with the rooted stock rom, only wished it had some of the Gingerbread features.

I have consistently gotten about 9 hours usage, with 1.5 - 2 hours screen time, and left work with 40 - 60% battery. I make no effort to reduce usage, as nothing even comes close to the screens usage, except I do leave off gps when not in use. This is a general average, and I have noticed little difference between stock and 2 different versions of Android revolution, with different flashed radios. (roms always flashed at full battery) and overclocked to 1.2 with ondemand set. Overall I can say this battery is not great, but the rest of the phone is well worth it. I had the atrix for 2 weeks, and although the atrix got better benchmark scores, it was way less smooth, and a lot of market apps don't work on it, like flashlights, live wallpapers that don't support the screen, etc.
I am very glad my atrix's touchscreen failed, because if it didn't, I probably would have never tried the inspire, and I am much happier with the inspire.

Battery is absolutely garbage

Am I the only one?
I upgraded to a native android device from a modded HTC HD2 to hopefully have a longer battery experience.
This battery is absolutely trash. My 2 year old HTC HD2 running Sense Android Non-Native ran at almost exactly the same.
I tested my HTC HD2 side by side with a close friend who has an Evo 4g.. Both Devices still being HORRIBLE in battery life performed almost IDENTICAL.
HTC HD2 is TWO YEARS old, why is it so close in performance to our device..
I love the phone in general, it's snappy (once i removed all bloatware).. Boots fast, runs nice.. i have very few complaints about it.
But how does an 1100 MaH battery run the SAME as an 1600 MaH battery?
I thought technology is supposed to improve, but my non native android phone ran almost the same as this one. Took longer to restart/boot up, but general speed is the same, larger screen size.. similar settings, and same battery life. Pisses me off frankly.

That's how I felt. hopefully we will get rom's or gingerbread on this phone soon that will improve battery life. And by gingerbread I mean the leak from Samsung for the i9000. I've been reading reviews and it seems like it Greatly improved battery while speeding up the phone a lot.

I have to disagree. I've owned may android phones including the evo. This phone has the best battery life in my opinion. I can easily make it almost all day with use without charging

Well like I said, i admittedly abuse the phone.. but I'm comparing to other phones getting equal abuse. It stands up about the same, better yes, but not by much.
If I'm barely using it however.. let's say, mainly just texting, yes it will last all day. But that never really happens.

I love how people admit that they "abuse" the phone all day and then complain that the battery life sucks. If you're going to use your phone that much, bring your usb cord. Or strap a battery pack to yourself and plug it in for "all day" use and abuse.

It's the screen. If you want the super amoled you have to put up with the battery.

What i don't understand is that why the Droid x which has similar specs to our phone can go up to 10 hours of continuous web browsing when our phone/vibrant can only go up to 4 according to tests. Is it because of the screen? If it is then that's just stupid.

It was horrible for me at first, but I then realized the system has to calibrate the battery first. I am getting about 16-20 hours with moderate usage now, which is better than the G2 I had before.

My g2 can go up to 28 hours with light texting and 2 hours of web browsing through wifi and 10 minutes of calls (manual syncs and low brightness also). Once I use the gps and browse through hspa, it's a different story. My sister has a SGS4G and her battery seems to drain faster than mine.
Oh, and if I keep my phone charged for a while after reaching the 100% mark, it stays at 100% even after 1 hour of heavy browsing and watching videos. I think we should all just assume that the battery meters are inaccurate.

I use juice defender and put my brightness setting on auto and I can literally go all day with "abusing" my phone.

WHAT? I have brightness on minimum with juice defender and all I get is 8 hours Max. All i really do on this phone is text and play words with friends so its not like i am abusing it or anything.

let the phone die, to the maximus. meaning once it turns off, turn on again until it doesnt turn on anymore. Now fully charge it, once again when fully charged restart the phone and charge it to 100 again. then let it die again, and full charge. should be fine then

i bought a 3500mah extended battery for my phone. the battery is designed to work with vibrant. it really made my life a lot easier.

I noticed if I set the phone to GSM only, battery lasts almost twice as long. If I'm on auto select (WCDMA/GSM), it lasts from 7AM till about 4PM.
But then again, I don't have a very good 3G/4G reception (or 2G connection for that matter), so my phone is probably working extra hard to find signal all day long.

The new Bali Kernel has shown tremendous battery improvement on my phone. I'm really impressed.

Same here.
I used to only have dark wallpapers and take all the other extra steps for my battery to make it through the work day, and as soon as i got home i had to charge it.
I'm now running fireflies live wallpaper, abusing the phone a little more then what i used to, and i still have battery to spare, not by the time i get home, but by the time i go to bed!!

i also have installed bali. seems to do well, as said its all about the brightness.

My problem with this phone is that wifi uses way too much battery. I have it to turn off when phone is asleep but i'll have the phone at 100% with wifi on. Put it on sleep. 4 hours later. battery is at 65%.
If i have wifi turned off. Battery will be at 98%.

what is the best android phone with the longest battery life?

after i hard bricked my captivate im looking for new phone.
the main things i looking for is

Are you willing to root the device? Many custom ROMS and kernels offer incredibly extended battery life. The processes are quite simple and laid out by developers in a step-by-step method for you.
Current I have a Samsung Vibrant 4g and am running a custom rom and kernel.
I can listen to Pandora from 8am to 12pm, texting and dicking around on the internet the whole time and am left with 50-60% battery life by 5pm.
If I don't use the phone at all it will last for about 2-3 days uncharged.

For tips all phone
Use Power control to close many thing ( wifi bluetooth GPS Sync )
and always kill all program.

Fongwe is correct.
Doesn't matter which phone you will use, you will always have complaints about the battery life, whether be it an Android Device or an i Device or a WP Device.
Since we are talking about a phone in Android section, I will say that so far out of all those Android phones I have tried/used, Incredible S has got the best battery life(This is strictly my personal opinion, I am saying everything based on my personal experience only.).
Next after Incredible S for me has been Atrix 4G.
After that I can say may be you will get decent battery life out of a Nexus S.
Don't get me wrong about Nexus S as a third place, it has got a decent battery life, the only problem is the 3G connection kills the power.
If you have background sync, bluetooth, 3G radio, wireless and too many applications running in the background all together, doesn't matter which phone you use, it will not give you a great battery experience regardless.
This is my typical usage from those recent phones. With about 2 hours phone call, few minutes of surfing, sync on constantly with 3G connection, play casual games for a few minutes and watch youtube for about 15 mins.
Incredible S - About 10 hours - Stock ROM
Atrix 4G - About 8-9 hours - Aura
Nexus S - About 6.5 hours - CM7 (May be my phone's battery is indeed defective)
If you are at work/home/on way, consider switching off your 3G radio and you will save up a lot of battery. Also, if you get a single core processor, it uses up less battery than a dual core phone.

iPhone or wait for Nokia Wp.

You will always get the occasional answer on saving battery life and I think that constitutes for a big part of how you could really get a device that would last long.
I think that you should be efficient in switching applications, service and the phone itself off, if you want to have it last longer through the day.
Also, rooting it would be another good option but those who want to keep it as is, this would be no option.

New ROMs help
I have a Vibrant that I used about a year. I went through a lot of different ROMs/Kernels during that time. Battery life varied wildly based on overclocking, undervolting, open apps and apps used. Also, just like mentioned above, if you drive through areas where the phone is always searching for new connections it can have an effect on battery life as well. Pick a phone with good ratings that you like and keep the background apps to a minimum. Figure you will be charging every 1-2 days, 3 at the most.

Galaxy S II. Dualcore, used properly, saves battery.

I turned off GPS and Bluetooth on my Galaxy Captivate and the battery last 2 or 3 times longer. Turn off Wi-fi too, if you can live without it.

let's talk battery..

so as it may be known, i came from an iPhone 4S and traded that for an HTC One X, i've had it for a little over a week and i really like it a lot BUT (you knew that was coming i think..) the battery is below par, i get about 3, on a real good day 4 hours of usage from a full charge. i only auto sync mail, screen is on 25% (also tried auto for a few days), when at home it's connected to WiFi, data off and when i go out the other way around, GPS and Bluetooth are off at all times. the main thing i do on my device is Twitter, Google+, Facebook and Instagram, + some light browsing the Internet. i understand the screen and processor take quite some battery but it's not cool to only be able to use the device about 3-4 hours before running empty. emailed the guy i traded with and he said he got about 7hrs, which would be awesome after dealing with 3-4 ;}
i am using Nova Launcher Prime, but prior to that when i ran Sense the battery was about the same. may just revert to stock to see how that will affect the battery, even though i will miss my widgets and setup. i also emailed HTC and was considering going to AT&T but since i traded the device i doubt they'll be much help.
what do you guys get... and what if anything did you do to improve it ?

How much screen on time? 4 hours is nuts. I easily got 24 hours on stock, with light usage, maybe even a day and a half. The 2.2X versions firmwares seem to get better battery life. Just this morning I had just under 50% battery left after 24 hours, with 1 hour screen on time.
If screen brightness in on "Auto" turn that off, and set it to something like 40-50%. That should save you some, but doesn't account the type of battery drain you are talking about.
Might be some runaway processes. Or any possibility you are in a fringe LTE area?

Screen on time of 4 hours very normal, and its good for a smartphone. Everyone uses their phone differently, of course. But 4 hours of screen time gets most people through a day, and charge overnight. What type of screen on time did you get with the iPhone?

Your stats are very normal for this phone model. The One XL screen is gigantic, but isn't AMOLED and as such uses much more battery life to power than some other Android devices. I get ~3 hours of screen on time in a days use of battery, and that is about 10-15 hours away from a charger. From what I can gather of your usage, if you are looking to extend your battery life, the only thing to do is leave the screen off more.
Do you flash custom ROMs? If so, try a custom kernel that allows you to change the CPU governor and clock speeds. The processor in the One XL maxes out at 1.5GHz by default, but you can underclock it to 1.2GHz with no noticeable detriment to performance. Also you can set the minimum frequency to an even lower clock speed, which allows the phone to use even less power when idling. Finally, make sure that the CPU governor is set to Ondemand. Powersave actually doesn't save as much power as you would think!

my favorite part was when he compared a tiny 3.5" screen to a 4.7" screen and expected the same battery life, even though it is roughly the same

Firstly, 4 hours screen on time isn't bad at all. I'm sorry your only reference is an iPhone.
To get 6+ hours of onscreen time with this phone like I and many others get you will need to do two things. Firstly, flash a custom ROM. CleanROM 4.5 is a good one that's as close to stock as you're gonna get. The second thing you need to do is turn off auto brightness. Leave the brightness set at 35% - 40%. This will improve battery life immensely. And no, 40% brightness is not dim.

with my iPhone (GPS on always, WiFi always, screen on about 70-80%) i got an average of 6 hours with peaks of 7. 4 hours with the HTC One X is on a good day.

i did not flash a ROM since i can not unlock the phone (yet). where i compared, referred to the iPhone is based upon the previous owner who said he usually got 6-7 hours on screen per day. it's uncool that people not live by the rule if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say nothing... i'm only trying to get some help here (luckily most members are helpful... i'll try and ignore the others) and my other reference would be a BB Storm, which lasted very long, but the device wasn't very exciting
i'm following the thread where rooting is discussed but i believe there's little progress. AT&T is also not pushing Sense 4.1 (yet, mine has 4.0) and ICS 4.0.4.
just spoke with HTC and they agree it's too short and are willing to exchange battery... downside i would be w/o a phone for 7-10 business days. might swing by AT&T and discuss, "issue" is i was not the original buyer.. he (HTC rep) stated they might give you a loaner (i doubt it..) we shall see.

It really depends on how you use your phone, and not all screen-on time is the same. 4 Hours is screen time is pretty good, and pretty on par with what other users on here have observed. The phone is new to you, so I bet you are using it like crazy. If that use includes a lot of internet, playing video, or games, its going to use more battery than some other activities. I don't know if a replacment is going to make you any happier.
You also have to consider, aside from a much larger screen, its also much higher resolution than the iPhone. Pushing all those pixels by the GPU takes power. The CPU is also much faster than the iPhone (and just about any other smartphone except the Galaxy S3), again using more power. Screen time may be less, but its doing so much more in that time.

4 hours, if I made would be somewhat acceptable, yesterday I had a little more then 3. I do not play game, I manly do social media & a little surfing..

my battery would last over 24hrs until the OTA 2.20 update now im lucky to get 12hrs out of it. Did they change something in the update?

The 2.20 OTA has an new radio. So its possible that the new radio happens to result in worse reception (and therefore battery life) than the previous one. Newer radios do not always get better results for all people, as its very geographically dependent.

The 2.20 OTA has an new radio. So its possible that the new radio happens to result in worse reception (and therefore battery life) than the previous one. Newer radios do not always get better results for all people, as its very geographically dependent.

Thank you for the reply and yes the radio looked like it was a new one and in PA i dont get that great of service everywhere.

Yeah, 4 hours of screen on time is normal so I definitely don't think you have any sort of defect. Signal strength also has a lot of impact on battery life. Keep brightness as low as possible while still being comfortable to your eyes (battery life isn't worth putting extra strain on your eyes). I use an app called display brightness that allows you to change brightness by swiping across the statusbar. I keep mine at the lowest level and just swipe a bit to increase it when I need it and then swipe it back down when I'm done. A custom rom could help some. If nothing else, root so that you can use something like better battery stats to give you more info on what's happening behind the scenes so you can make some adjustments. Although I'm not one to push using this, you might want to install something like juice defender to see if it helps. Verify you don't have some app running in the background unnecessarily chewing up cpu use. Note though that just because an app is running in the background doesn't mean you should kill it. As long as it's not doing anything, it's better for it to be running than to have to load it up (especially if it's an app you use frequently). A couple of other things to verify, don't use push notifications / syncing (I keep background syncing off a manually sync (well, I use Tasker to sync things at different times of the day)). If you can, use wifi. If wifi isn't available, turn it off. Also make sure wifi notifications are off and that you aren't using 'best wifi performance' (both under wifi advanced settings).
I'm sure there are some others I missed but hopefully these help and at least give you a starting place. No matter what though, enjoy your device and don't obsess too much with the battery. Once you've gotten over the 'new toy' syndrome, you should get a days use out of it. I pretty much take mine off charge in the morning and put it on charge before going to bed with around 30‰ left. Sometimes more, sometimes less. 3-4 hours average of screen on time, 30-60 minutes of calling.

update.
went to the AT&T Device Center (did not know it existed until the regular AT&T store told me about it...) they played with my phone and concluded that the battery was draining too fast while using it, so w/o discussion they exchanged it.
got a follow up question since AT&T did not know, with the iPhones i would let them drain all the way down at least and then fully recharge and leave it on the charger for an extra 2 hours after it being 100%, i *think* that helped condition the battery.. anything you guys can suggest anything for me to to now that i have a new device to maybe improve/condition the battery ?

Need some help! Thinking of getting a nexus 5

Hi to all I'm thinking of getting a nexus 5.
But would like to know a couple of things and where better to ask.
First off I'm a bit hard of hearing so need the in-call speaker to be loud so as a nexus 5 user would you say the volume is about the same as a s4
As at the minute I'm using a galaxy s advance
Second I play a lot of games so what is the battery life like on a nexus 5.

For me the in-call speaker is loud enough. Don`t know your degree of hard hearing but i think it will be loud enough and is surely compatible with the S4. If needed you can always root it and increase the volume of the mic and speaker. As for batterylife its average and compearable with the S4 or Sony for instance. It also is very user dependant and of your signal reception quality. On stock you have 3-4 hrs. screenontime and with a good custom kernel about 5-7 hours. For its price its the best phone you can find imo.
And yes questions should be posted in Q&A next time

Hmmm. I love my nexus 5, don't get me wrong and yes the speaker is loud enough BUT with a Samsung the speaker is linear and you don't need to be exact with your ear placement on the speaker. On the N5 it is small and circular. Not everyone has this problem but I know I'm not alone....it can be quite awkward to get that speaker central to your ear to get a decent volume from it.
I would recommend testing it before buying

The in-call speaker seems to be the same as the S4, but the exterior speaker where speaker-phone or music is played does not seem quite as loud.
As for battery life with gaming, I would say look elsewhere. While I agree with gee2012 that the Nexus 5 is the best phone for the price--and I would even go so far as to say it's my favorite phone to date and possibly the best all-around phone pre-GS5 and M8--I do not think it is the best phone for gaming. The screen is great, and the processor seems to be able to handle anything I throw at it, but the battery cannot handle extensive gaming. I hear people claiming all the time about 6-7 hours screen-on-time, but I think that is the rare white buffalo that you'll never see in actual use.
First, I haven't actually seen a single screen shot hitting more than 6 hours SOT, but I do believe it is possible and I have seen trusted sources make independent claims. Second, achieving those results requires aftermarket tweeks, such as finding the perfect custom ROM and kernel combo. I haven't found a combo that gives me much better than stock, although that is completely fine for me (stock on N5 is much better than stock on GNex and slightly better than N4). Third, if you do somehow manage to get 7 hours SOT, it means you a) were not running processor-intensive processes (so no gaming), and b) did not get much better than 7 hours total battery life. You basically took your phone of the charger, played on it non-stop until your phone died, then put it back on the charger.
I would love for someone to prove me wrong, but I just haven't seen it. If someone can post legit screenshots of getting 6-7 hours SOT while gaming, I'd love to see it. But if I was buying a phone for primarily gaming purposes (which I would never do, that's what tablets are for), I would aim for something with a bigger and/or removable battery.
As for normal operations, the battery life is fine. I took my phone off the charger on Saturday morning and did not need to plug it back in until Sunday night this weekend, and even then I was only at like 20%. My total SOT was only about 2-2.5 hours, though, and I was connected to WiFi the entire time and used my phone only to text, browse the internet, and play Words with Friends when my N7 was out of reach (busy, hermit-like weekend). Using my N5 as a smart phone in conjunction with using my Nexus 7 more as a computer (most web-browsing, most gaming, and all Chrome Casting), I rarely have below 50% battery at the end of a 12 hour day.

Yep. I can show you a screen shot of when I got 7 hours screen on time. However, this is on non-intensive use. Browsing, texts, emails. WiFi. Consistent phone signal. The use was normal. But as soon as the CPU or GPU ramps up, this won't be possible. Really racing / gta - you'll be lucky to get 2 hours SoT and leave enough battery for the phone to be a phone for the rest of the day.
One thing I have noticed though is these games ramp cpu to max and battery drains. I had profiles for the games above to max CPU at 1700 or there abouts as the games don't need it.
Space will always be an issue here for a gamer. Yeah its good for playing games but not for long

It's more common then you might think, just check the battery results thread. Root is not required but light usage, low brightness, mostly WiFi, and eliminating background drains certainly helps.
Each one I've posted there was 6-8 hours SoT over 24+ hours with little to no gaming. My daily average is 5-6 with half the day on data and short gaming sessions.
I've tested the device purely for gaming as well. Average gaming time seems to be 3.5 hours. Some games are more optimized than others.

Playing a lot of games will destroy any phones battery. Thats just how it is. No matter what you buy, you'll be far below the average battery times if you game a lot.
My point is, any phone you buy....you'll want a charger nearby if you play games a lot. Or an external battery pack.
So....I wouldn't worry about battery life much, you'll be charging frequently no matter what phone you have.
The N5 can play them nicely....that should be what matters. ?

I get 5 hours sot with Franco kernel and carbon and almost 2 days with moderate battery life should be better on 4.4.3

With other phones though you can get a bigger battery. Battery pack may not help because you may need otg to fit games on
