Music player autostarting? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I solved this but wanted to share in case someone else runs into the same issue.
So the issue was that my music player as starting up at seemingly random times for no apparent reason. I am daily adding, Modding and generally messing around (or messing up) my Xoom and figured I had screwed it up. It turns out that I was using some new headphones for my phone on my Xoom and my music app kept thinking that a media button was being pushed. On a humourous note the song that kept coming up was Black Magic by Frank Sinatra. So once I figured out the problem, (thanks to Google and a blogger named Geek Girl) I downloaded autostarts from the market (requires root to work) and disable the media button. So far seems to have worked great.

WM6 Windows Media Player

Is it just me or are other people having problems playing MP3s ?
Have just tried playing some from my SD card, they play for 29seconds and then advances to the next MP3, anyone else found this problem ??
Cheers
Like I have tried saying before - this is to do with the application 'close all programs'.
Don't know why - only happens after you use that program without a soft reset.
SO you are saying if I don't ugo into the memory area and do a close all that windows media player will work fine ??
Or are you talking about the program that is bundled in Midgets apps ?
If you have a battery meter program, try disabling it, and see if that helps.
I use iLauncher for my meter, and there is an option for that to use polling instead of whatever the normal way was, and it fixed the issue. It also fixed the issue by disabling the meters totally.
Nope not got much else installed really, PIE and Opera are the two apps I installed, oh and Midgets extras pack !!
i would have to agree with alan... i have just installed a bettery meter.. and since i have installed i have had the same problem... guess im just going to have to uninstall the battery meter when i want to listen to tunes... no biggy!!
if I am not wrong WMP problem has nothing to do with the battery. the problem playin files for few sec the jumping to next comes and geos. you may likey ones you start the WMP the player plays normal until next time it apears again
I know it has nothing to do with the battery, but, iLauncher battery meter standard settings, WMP skips, turn off meter, WMP plays, switch meter to polling method, WMP plays, switch back to normal, WMP skips.
Like I said its that program that auto closes all programs in the memory, I think you get it from 'midget_1990_tweaks_and_hacks'. Same program is included in Helmes 3.5 version 1 ROM.
I know this cause I noly get this problem if I use that app. If you don't use this app then its another issue. Just sharing my findings. Hope it helps in some way or at least rules out an app.
I agree with mrbrightside, it works fine after a softreset AFTER you use that 'Close Apps' program. If no soft reset is done when Close Apps is used, the problem appears. Glad I found this thread though. Just confirmed what I thought was happening.
I have the same problem here, except it’s only plays for 6 seconds! I’ve been wondering what the h*ll happened to my WMP? Haven’t tried the solution above but I think it comes from either spb pocketplus (today plug in) or the close all utility
Thanks guys! Let’s see which one will be the solution! i'll post it latter....
I have Helmi's WM6 with Spb pocket plus, works fine for me...
Does seem to be the "Close Apps" program specifically, was outlined in Helmi's WM6 post. If you're using pocket plus, it has a built in full close application which doesn't cause a conflict with WMP.
Good luck all
i don't have that close apps program installed and my midia player tends to starts songs all skippy, like it's in fast foreward and then 5 seconds later it stops that and plays normally.
anyone else have this problem?

Have you done any registry speed tweaks? In a WM5 ROM I had it started doing that after I did some registry edits, but it played normally when I plugged in some earphones. I didn't get rid of it until I got a Crossbow ROM.
So what ever registry tweaks you've done, undo them, or just plug in some earphone and see if that works. I don't remember what reg key it was though...
yeah it stops skipping after i plug head phones in.
i'm running jwrights new wm6 rom.
i have tweaks 2K2 INSTALLED.. i'll try playing around with it..
well!, in tweaks i had low background quality of wmp on.
i turned it of, and it'll skip once when the song starts and it's fine. thats great! good enough for me, you're a good man!
WMP Skipping
I had the same problem also when i first installed the new Helmi_c 3.5 rom. But after a soft reset, the problem seems to disappear. Strange.. Will try and see whether the problem persists.
argh actually i have the same problem and even after soft resets it still persists.
i'd like it to stop but nothing i';ve tried works. it's not too bad though, i'm rarely playing music on the external speakers anyways
check the file format of your tracks
initally was experiencing the same problem of media player shutting down after a few seconds using mp4 files.. i converted my track to mp3 and it seems to of resolved the problem all tracks now playback normally

Nexus S problem with media is always running in the background

Has anyone else had this problem where Media is constantly running in the background and draining battery. This is the 2nd time it has happened to me and its annoying. The first time around I just wiped my phone and all was great for bout 2 months and now its back again. media is started by an app (android.process.media). Every time I kill Media it comes right back. I used Titanium to freeze (download manager- downloads-DRM Protected and Media download) it seemed to stop it but my keyboard starts to act up and not work. Any help would be appreciate. thanks

Spotify media controls disappearing in the notification/lock screen.

Has anybody experienced this? I do not have power saver on. I'm on the August 1 security patch for the G930U.
Here is the scenario:
- Play a song through Spotify
- Click the home button (media controls will appear in notifications when Spotify is in the background)
- Pause or stop the song from notifications (don't hit the x in the media controls notification)
- Let phone sit with Spotify on pause
- Eventually, the media controls will disappear from the notifications as if the phone automatically shut down the Spotify app, which is fine.. but..
- Play a song through Spotify again
- Click the home button (media controls will NOT appear in notifications)
The only way to fix this for me has been to open up the recents app menu and swipe it away, then open Spotify again. Extremely annoying.
I have been having this issue as well on my LG G4, almost the exact same symptoms you have. I have tried all the re-installation tricks and factory resetting my phone. After some spotify forum digging I think other users have this issue and its an app based issue. I am 75% sure of it, but know one has had a definite answer to why this happens so I can't say for sure its the app and not Android
I'm having the same problem in a OnePlus X, thought it was something about latest Marshmallow update. I don't think this happen in Lollipop, but.. who knows.
I have had this issue from time to time, but have not noticed it in the last couple days since installing the latest beta (6.5.0.1795) from the XDA Labs app. It hasn't been long enough for me to say for sure it's fixed, but it's worth a shot. Try it out and report back on if you're able to reproduce the issue with the beta version.
Having the same problem on the S7. Latest stable version of Spotify and on latest software.

Android Auto Problems

Hey guys
I'm having strange problems with Android Auto on Honor 8x.
Sometimes, it works great. The navigation bar shows up, and when I click the audio button, I can see Pocket Casts and Spotify as intended.
However, about 2/3rds of the time, Android Auto doesn't work properly. Either, the bar at the bottom is blank, or my audio apps are not recognized, and pressing the audio button gives the prompt 'Pull over and install android auto apps when it is safe to do so'.
I'm trying to figure out why it works sometimes and other times not, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. I've tried making sure spotify is open before connecting the phone, I've tried making sure it's fully closed, wiping caches of android auto and google apps doesn't seem to make a difference after the initial set up either.
Anyone else?
I'm having exactly the same issue except for me Google play music always appears; just Spotify is sometimes there/sometimes isn't
I initially thought it was a Spotify issue and downloaded Deezer which had exactly the same issue after a few days
I've found sometimes that rebooting the phone works but I've also resorted to reinstalling Spotify at times
I'm just sitting waiting patiently in a hope that it's some "feature" which gets fixed when pie is rolled out, but who knows!
Let us know if you find a fix! ??
I've given up
Mine was just weird full stop! Screen goes weird and kept locking up, half the time 'hey google' wouldn't work amongst other things. I ended up deleting it.
Glad to see it's not only me. It's great when it works, but it's always when I'm about to head out on a long drive that it ****s the bed. The 15 minute journey to town of course, everything's mint..... Having other problems with the phone as well with it's heavy-handed regulation of pretty much everything. No DNS-based or VPN-based adblock can seem to stay alive either. Tried them all! I really hope a decent custom ROM comes out one day, but if not I will probably cut my losses and head back to Moto. Shame really, because it's great value for money and an AOSP version of same hardware would be mint.

Poweramp woes.

Greetings all,
Been using the premium poweramp for a while. Overly complicated for a car but it works well. Anyway today i was messing about with some of the settings in the appearance section. I have now managed to disable the steering wheel track up/down, the fascia track up/down and the right hand back button (knob).
Everything works as it should for all other apps. What have a done? Also anyone got any experience with skins that wont load because they are out of date; yet the number of users keeps going up on Google Store.
I have tried closing all apps. Hard restart, reset but nowt is happening. Haven't uninstalled and reinstalled yet as I don't want to loose the 110Gb library. That took ages to scan.
Many Thanks
