I have tried the links posted in the forum to update my Nexus S but I always get some kind of error.
I own a Nexus S from T-mobile 9020t. I have previously upgraded manually from build GRH78C to GRI40. Currently my phone info states it is on GRI40 baseband JK8. I tried the GRI40 to GRJ22 update file but i get "status 7" error message while updating. I have never rooted my phone and I want to leave my phone unrooted and have the update.
If you know about any such issues and how to resolve it, please let me know.
Thanks.

Does anyone know what the stock baseband version is? I rooted my phone withe superoneclick method and I changed my mind and I am just going to wait for the gingerbread update.
I am trying to install the official ICS update to my Nexus S.
I have done a factory reset on the phone and the specs are:
Android Version 2.3.6
Build : GRK39F
Baseband: I9020AUCKF1
When I try to update it it says it failed verification and aborts.
I downloaded what i believe is the official update file and moved it to the internal storage without modifying it at all.
any body have any ideas ?
Thanks In Advance

Hi there i recently bought a Samsung galaxy Nexus unlocked, build ITL41F.I9250XEKK9 its an att docomo phone that i bought off amazon.
Anyway when i go to search for updates it says the phone is up to date and there are no new updates and i'm currently running android 4.0.1.
I did seach google, but i really no nothing about roms and flashing devices so i didn't really understand much.
By the way the first time i connected the phone to wifi it updates the phone but it only did this once. The current version is ITL41F don't no what it was before the update.
Can someone help me or give me a guide to how to update my galaxy nexus ITL41F to a new version of ICS. By flashing the device and using an official ICS rom.
Any help greatly appreciated.
any help anyone?
Same problem here
I've got the same problem here. It installs a "system update" periodically but I'm still suck on 4.0.1. My build # and purchase location are the same. Did yours come bootloader unlocked, i.e., do you see the padlock icon when you first turn on the device? Unfortunately I didn't figure out what the padlock icon meant until it was too late to return it to Amazon.
I'm starting to get worried that someone sold me a hacked firmware that is sniffing my passwords...has that ever happened?
Hi !
i just bought a used samsung galaxy nexus s . When i bought the phone its Android version was 2.3.1 and build was GRH78. I search alot but every time save the update file in SD card and run it from the recovery menu some error used to appear. How after alot of search on the internet i found one update file which was from GRH78 (Android 2.3.1) to GRH78C (Android 2.3.2). This upgrade was successful.
But now again i am searching for the upgrade file to update my phone to Android 4.0.4 . I found update file from GRH78c to latest build but none of them is working on my phone.
My phone is currently with the following upgrade version. Plz see this and help me in it. I will be very much thankful to you all out there.
Model Number : Nexus s
Android Version : 2.3.2
Baseband Version : M200KRKD1
Build number GRH78C
Also tell me that is it possible to upgrade my phone with the above version to Android 4.0.4?
And how can i upgrade this phone using custom ROMs available on the internet?

Is it unlocked? Rooted?
Yes, your device is completely capable of flashing and upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4) and even Jelly Bean (4.1.2).
While there are two ways to do that but since you already mentioned that you want to use Custom ROMs available on net, then this guide is the solution to it.
It will help you unlock your bootloader and Install a custom Recovery which in turn will enable you to flash custom ROMs on your device.
You can choose a Custom ROM which meets your requirements available here in Nexus S Android Development Section.
I'm running 2.3.3 on build .270. I'd like to update to build .285 over the air. I've read updating ofa will retain the root. I get an error that it cannot connect. The phone is unlocked and I'm using a tmobile sim. Is that what's causing the problem? Any solutions?
Anyone?
