thnx for your reply how to flash it from CWM recovery mode ?

i believe for your phone you must shutdown your phone and after its closed press vol up + call key (and tap power button to turn on the phone)
That should take you to 'bootloader'. There should be a 'recovery' option there, that will take you to CWM recovery. The CWM recovery should have a black background with orange text(it could also be blue text).
If so, then you're in CWM recovery. Just go to 'Install from sdcard' and 'choose from sdcard' (or something like that), then choose the CM7 .zip file.
Make sure you make a backup before flashing the ROM. Backup can also be made from CWM recovery, its one of the options

Make sure you have CWM recovery flashed on your phone.
You can be sure by going into ROM Manager and in the first option 'Flash CWM recovery', it should be written 'Current Recovery: ClockworkMod x.x.x.x'
If thats not written, then you need to click the first option and flash the CWM recovery (u'll need a internet connection for that)

IT IS not going to recovery mode it 1st hang to ideos screen then rebot to simple mode

while the device is off...
Press and hold the Volume Up + Call Key
TAP << not hold >> the power button
Don't let go of the Volume Up + Call Key until device light up
Generally it'll always end up in recovery if the Volume Up + Call Keys are held down when the device powers. Doesn't matter how it powered on, whether via power button, usb cable, reboot etc.

via Rom Manager

Does ROM Manager say 'Current Recovery:'
if so, the you have CWM recovery on your phone.

the link i provided says that your phone IS supported.
Is your version of ROM Manager updated? (im not sure if that will help, but just try, it wont hurt!)
If it still doesnt want to show, you can manually flash the CWM recovery onto your phone. I would tell you how, but im not familiar with your phone.
EDIT:
i searched for a manual way for you to flash it, and ended up with this thread... CLICK HERE . Although this thread also says that the phone is fully supported in ROM Manager now. But it also give you a way to manually flash it

[Q] ClockworkMOD recovery

When I select backup Rom in ROM manager, it reboots and i get a screen with an exclamation mark with an android bot. Same thing happens when I try to get into recovery with power on + volume up button.
But when I select reboot in recovery from rom manager it works and i was then able to take a back up from there.
What do i do ? Current and latest clockwork version are same according to rom manager. I updated it twice using ROM manager to make sure its the correct one

Tried it. Nothing happens. Have to take battery out. But I can still access recovery by rebooting in recovery from rom manager
Try installing it from the bootloader.
Name the image file recovery.img
Put it in the android sdk tools folder(or wherever your fastboot.exe is) and run the command -
"Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
Then reboot, it should work.
The android with a "!" is the stock recovery. You don't have to pull the battery at that screen, just press hold power button, then press volume up, you should end up in stock recovery.
In ROM Mgr, FLASH clockwork recovery (twice for good luck, seriously) before trying to boot/backup from ROM Mgr. That should get you going.
The fastboot flash method mentioned above also works.
Part of your issue is that there's a file called /etc/install-recovery.sh that overwrites clockwork recovery with the stock one every time you boot up normally. Rename/delete that file and clockwork will stick after that.

I have found if you to flash Clockworkmod recovery from Rom Manager and you already have the same version, it will remove it all together.
just reboot your phone and run the recovery installer once. Right now, it should be version 3.0.0.5. After you run it. Reboot your phone -> hold power + up (or down don't remember) -> select recovery.
If it is there, you should be able to get to it from the Rom Manager link also.

Boot into CWM from power off!

I stumbled upon this today while messing around inside the stock Android recovery. It should work for you if you've applied the bootstrap:
-Power off if you haven't already
-Hold both volume buttons and the power button until it boots into "Boot Mode Selection Menu"
-Use volume down to scroll to "Recovery"
-Use volume up to boot into the stock android recovery. When you see the Android and the exclamation point, press volume up+down
-Press the power button to select the "Reboot" option.
For some reason it will boot into CWM for you! It's already saved me once today .
tl;dr: Boot into recovery then choose to reboot.
Enjoy!
I tried it. Doesn't work for me.

is this true even if one is stock?
You must have the bootstrap applied in order for this to work.
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it working for me... but if it's not working for you try
- Apply bootstrap
- Download ROM Manager from Android Market
- Open it and choose to flash a recovery. Choose "Bionic"
- Wait for it to finish then bootstrap recovery again.
Has anyone else gotten this to work or is my phone just weird?

I think I know why it worked for me. I had been on 2.3.6 but it wasn't completely 2.3.6 - the /system was up-to-date but Webtop, recovery, and some others were 2.3.5. Today I flashed the fxz and then updated with Moto's update.zip and tried again - no workie.
I don't want to flash the fxz atm because I'm working on something big, but if anyone would like to test my theory go ahead.

Can't access Odin, frozen fastboot

Hi,
I tried to restore my Nexus S (european, GT-I9023) which has a broken power button before sending it to Samsung for repair.
I just screwed my ROM flash using Clockworkmod and now my phone only shows a beautiful Google screen.
When I try to use fastboot screen (using vol+/vol-) nothing moves, and even if it moved I wouldn't be able select any option as my power button is broken. I can't also access Odin (vol+ and vol- pressed when the phone is off) as I can't turn off my phone.
What can I do to flash my rom? May I send it to Samsung anyway?
Thanks for your answers!

He might not be able to. When the power button breaks, it stays in a "on" state and that messed up fastboot as it doesn't let you scroll or initialize properly.

If your rom starts booting (you see a quick flash after initial Google logo) you might be able to ADB from there (while it's not booting and the rom logo is showing, I know weird but often works). Check it out.
Edit: Oh and if you get adb access, then what you want to do is "reboot recovery" to reboot to recovery, and then wipe/flash a rom and whatnot.

You are absolutely right. The phone thinks that the power button is pressed and doesn't let us move up and down using the volume keys.
Also, even if I get adb access after the Google logo, how do I use fastboot mode? I actually wanted to flash a recovery as my Power button doesn't work even in the recovery. Moreover, I can boot into recovery without adb, from inside the rom power menu.
So adb doesn't help here

What recovery do you currently have? All custom recoveries enable you to scroll with menu and home key, go back with the back key and select with the search key. So if you can get adb while it's "not booting" and reboot to your custom recovery, then you can navigate, mount usb and transfer a rom if needed or flash one that is on your phone.
Edit: Also, I was under the impression you couldn't boot your ROM. If you can, what is it exactly that you are trying to do??

Ok let's get this right
What is your goal? Flash a different recovery? Then you can flash a recovery from within something such as ROM Manager if your rom still boots.
Yes sir, my goal is to flash a touch based recovery just so that I can flash new ROMs and kernels without the help of the power button.
Koushik charges for in-app flashing of CWM Touch which is otherwise free. So that's the main issue here. I guess I'll have to live with it

You sir, are my hero... Many thanks for this :highfive: :victory:
If you are flashing a touch version of CWM recovery, I highly suggest v6.0.1.0. The later version (up to 6.0.2.5) have a bug that will make you unable to mount the SD card within the recovery. Otherwise TWRP is very interesting, but backups made with CWM are not compatible with TWRP.
Thanks, I'll try TWRP this time

Possible brick into CWM HELP PLEASE

once you in recovery (see 4 icons), use volume down to switch to USB icon, then use volume up hit it twice, now your device is in fastboot mode. Connect your usb cable (make sure usb debugging and unknow source are checked in settings). From your pc now you can flash using script or manuall push it.

i dont think so i cant toggle down or up in cwm, is there some other way to flash it?
There used to be a flash binary that worked with adb (I.e. via recovery). I've not seen or heard of it for a while, but the fact that recovery can still be flashed from booted Android tells me it's still available. ROM Manager and GooManager both allow you to install recovery, so I would start with decompiling those...
First you need to access you tablet (while it's booted in CWM) via adb shell.
Second, you need to verify that the recovery can access the internal eMMC - "ls /dev/block/mmcblk0*" should list at least 8 partitions.
Then, you can put a flashable zip into and the installation command onto the cache partition - the procedure is exactly the same as the method to manually install incremental dlpkgfile updates.

Hmmm...
Are you sure this is CWM?
The options you see come from a stock recovery.
Try flashing another version of CWM.

YOU ARE DOING EVERYHING ON YOUR OWN RISK.
I DID NOT TEST THIS.
Download Samsung drivers here: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-USB-Driver-for-Mobile-Phones-15270.shtml
Download odin: http://d-h.st/er8
The CWM revovery itself: http://d-h.st/0Fw
1. First be sure USB Debugging is checked in ur device ( Settings>Developer Options>USB Debugging )
2. Extract the Odin file from the zip.
3. Open Odin3 (Run As Administrator).
4. Put your device in download mode. To do so, press Volume Down And Home And Power Button all together and when it vibrates release
Power Button but keep pressing left ones. You should have a triangle with an android janitor while it's saying downloading ..
VOL UP TO CONTINUE...
5. Now connect USB to PC ,you should see a blue rectangle with COM:xx and saying Added. It means that your device is ready to be flashed!
6. Go into the PDA section and select your .tar file.(CWM Recovery)
7. Dont check any option (F.reset time and Auto reboot are checked by default) So just uncheck Auto Reboot.
8. Now click Start.
9. When it's finished, it should say that "Res OK" in Odin..
10. Now remove ur USB and remove ur battery and put it back and go to Recovery Mode (Volume UP And Home And Power Button all
together and when it vibrates release Power Button but keep pressing left ones).
If you don't see Developer options go to Stettings>About phone> press Build version 10 times quickly
I dont know. problem?
