[Q] Cannot pass a welcome screen (G tablet) - G Tablet General

Cannot pass a welcome screen
I just got my GTablet. Power it up first time and it did not ask me for any setup (no welcome screen and agreement acceptance). I played couple minutes and power it down (have no time).
So now I powered it again and did get the welcome screen (surprise ) but after I select “Agree” with a agreement and press next – I got message “application unexpectedly foreclose, please try again” . And I tried many many times but I cannot pass this message.
Can some one help me? Should I return it right a way?

Depends, If you are adventurous, you could download and re-flash back to stock using any one of several posts that detail re-flashing youre tablet (Look for NVFLASH BACK TO STOCK), if not then I would return it.
In any case, once you have a working unit, you will most likely want to replace the stock ROM with one of the updated roms that the developers on this forum have created. There are FROYO, GINGERBREAD ROMS that are very stable and fully functional. There are a couple Honeycomb ROMS that are in alpha stage.
Spend some time reading thru the threads before you make a decision and good luck
Look at this POST for re-flashing your tablet back to stock. READ the entire post before trying!!!

Or look here^^^^ for a great guide to flashing a better os.

Thank you folks, I am kind uncertain about refreshing my gtablet with custom rom before having fully functional original one.
what do you think is it safe ?
any ideas why original one crashed on set-up screen? does anyone had this type of issue?
thanks in advance.

Nearly everyone had this problem right out of the box: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896395
Clear all the FC dialogs, set up your wifi network, download the OTA update to 3588. After that's applied you will have a much more stable machine.

Ok, it looks like I solved it. And the issue was – NO WIFI access at the time!!!
I am going to explain as I have understood it (may not be the case but I am quite confident) helpfully it will be useful info for others.
First when I got my gtab I powered it up and did not get any “welcome screen” (where you are agree with a user agreement and set time and location as well as set up accounts). So I played with it a little bit (set-up WIFI) and powered it off. So next time when I have powered my gtab up I was in a different location with no WIFI available. And this time a get “welcome screen” but when I tried to complete the “welcome screen “it crashed (and I believe because it require access to internet). And until I get to the first location I could not pass “welcome screen”! BUT as soon as I get to the location with WIFI, everything went fine!

X7510 Keeps Locking Up

Hey folks,
I have been having a lot of problems with my X7510 lately. The screen keeps locking up in standby mode. When the device is in standby I turn it on and it prompts me for my password. After putting in my password I just get a black screen with the word "password" at the top. While the device is in this state I can still sync (and see all of the files on it) when I connect to my computer. The screen on the device, however, is locked up. This problem has been happening several times a day lately and I cannot receive calls when it happens (nor do I get any indication of missed calls). The only way to get the X7510 to work is to do a soft reset.
At first I thought it might have something to do with the password manager, so I turned the password off today. A couple of hours later I found it locked up anyway. When I pressed the power button it did not come on at all, though the GSM and BT/WIFI lights continued to flash.
Is anyone having this issue? Were you able to figure out what was causing the problem? I am very frustrated right now. My device locks up so much that it is practically unusable since I have to do a reset 2-4 times a day.
Yes- I'm seeing the same issue from time to time. Haven't had time to investigate yet.
Last time it happened was yesterday- Green and Amber lights were flashing, but all buttons unresponsive, and had to do a soft reset.
Running PocketPlus 4.03 as a front end.
That is probably a software issue. Better enumerate your softwares and find out the common one causing it. Usually start with the last one you installed prior to having the problem.

I agree it's definitely a software issue. The only recent addition for me has been Spb Keyboard. PP4.03 has been on since day one, and did not initially seem to be associated with lockups.
When I have time, I'll try and narrow it down a bit.
I have not installed any new software in over six weeks. The only thing that has changed in the last week is an update to IM+. I have uninstalled it completely and will see what happens. If this fails I am not sure what to do.

Just for the record, I don't use any sort of Instant Messaging!
With my Advantage on the ultra-extreme blinks I suffered the tortures of the damned, tortures of the damned. No less than once every couple of hours I'd find my device locked up. Upon direction from my kind forum mates, I decided to uninstall the last software change on the not-so trusty X7510. After removing the IM+ software the PDA still locked up two more times that day. I gave up hope and decided to do an hard reset.
The next day, however, it did not hang up at all. The same goes for today, so after locking up five times a day for a week I have not locked up once in the last 48 hours. No hard reset and all is viddy well, little brother, Viddy well.
Unsure if it was the IM+ update or not, since it locked up twice after the uninstall, but I will not be reinstalling the IM+ update. In the name of science, I will install the original version this afternoon and see what happens.
Most gracious thanks to all those who took time out to reply to this thread.
I can concur that 3rd party software running in the background is usually the culprit.
In my case, I'm having an on-going saga with Hebrew localization bought from P.D.A.C. If I put the device to "sleep", with the email program set to download every 15 minutes (via wifi - no SIM installed), I come back to find a device that will turn on when the power button is pressed (a bit longer than usual), but then no response from any hardware button or screen - a soft reset via the hole in the back is the only way out.
I can in general say that the localization has other problems, like slowing the device down, and generally causing unpredictable hangs, but I'll save that for another thread.
To their credit, PDAC have taken a stab at trying to fix it, but since they don't have (and apparently don't intend to purchase) an HTC 7510 for testing, it's become a slow, hit-or-miss proposition.
One of the problems for gadget fiends like me who are not programmers is choosing a device that isn't massively popular - the support by third-party developers is not adequate. So here I find myself trying to learn how to fix what should work properly out-of-the-box.....and being frustrated by lack of background/knowledge.

Had this lockup problem since i received the device.
The other week in an attempt to fix this i have flashed to the latest 3.29 Rom from cmonex (thanks!) with ExtRom 3.29. As i have a Chinese x7510 version this ExtRom has fixed Opera text block problem, but still had constant lockup after putting unit into sleep mode.
Yesterday, i tried option 'Do not lock buttons' in Key Lock under Settings. Since I have not had one single lockup! Even having in sleep overnight, hit power button and up pops today screen. Normally i would have to soft reset.
This is what i have done so far. I'll have to start installing apps and see how it goes...
G'day from LA
Hi AvantX,
Another Aussie here, but living in LA for the last 7 years.
I loaded cmonex's hard SPL on to my x7510 some time ago, but so far I've been loathe to load an other ROM on to my x7510 as I have been unclear on the return path to the stock rom in the evet of a mishap. I've been hoping to see some ROM development on this forum similar to Kaiser & TyTN but so far we have not seen too much, other than the promise of AP4 amd MichyPrima's ROM somewhen.
Can you show here some screen shots of the 3.29 ROM? Does it look the same as the stock ROM and how does it run compared to the stock ROM? The stock ROM is 3.27.405.3 - is 3.29 an improvement? Does loading 3.29 affect the radio - mine is 1.58.
Thanks mate in advance.

Ut-Ohhh...Doomed to a hard reset? Process System Not Responding

Anyone ever see the message "Process system not responding". Here's the story.
Well, I've been installing apps like a loose cannon, figuring I may be dooming myself to a hard reset, and it may have come to pass.
Last thing that happened while the phone was running good, was I ran the demo of the 3D game XXXXXXXXX. I received a call, and had to hop away, and after that the phone became unresponsive. Looking at what was loaded with Advanced Task Killer, I did not see the game to kill, so I turned off the phone.
Now, it is taking a very long time to 'boot'. The Phone is Locked screen would pop up, and I'd try to slide it off, and it would slide about half off. Screen black except for the clock of the lock screen. And after sliding off half way, the screen would go black, as if it was off, but then the lock screen would come back.
Kept thinking that ultimately it would finish. After a bit I got the task bar at top, and it was saying preparing internal memory'Preparing Internal Mass Storage"; then finally " Media scanner running". Finally a few icons from the dock. But everything else still black.
Then finally it would come up with a big message "Sorry!. Process system is not responding. buttons for Force close, and Wait. I don't know if that is an Android message, or an app message. I tried force close, and it went back into the same iteration of events.
So the next time i tried a boot, I did not respond to the message for a while, and it seemed to be making progress behind the message. It went off, I turned it back on, it had lock screen, moved it off a bit easier.
Then finally it came up more screen things in place. Then again with a message "Process system is nto responding". Let it set 'til it went off again. This time it came up a bit futher, and this time it came up with window to select launcher. I selected TWiz launcher. Process message again, and I killed it this time.
Whewh...Still not resolved.
I guess if there are any suggestions short of hard reset, i'm interested in hearing. maybe one of you have had this happen. If it ever finishes loading, first thing I'm going to do is remove that game.
One thing that is a pain and I think contributes, is that so many apps load by default it seems. And the more you install the more that happens, from what I have seen. I know I don't have as many apps installed as I've seen others reference, but I do have 2-3 different memory type utilities that I've wondered if they woudl interfere with each othre, but they supposedly don't all load at boot.
Post long enough. I'll add more if I find anything interesting.

Well, the above post exactly describes what I have on my Captivate as well. Long boot times, "process system not responding", black screens, media scanner running/completed repeatedly, severe lagging...
Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this issue? I've uninstalled my most recent apps, but it has not made any difference. Many thanks for any guidance!
Sounds like both of you need to restore to stock...Look in the Dev section for the Stock Odin3 1 click post..it is a sticky so it should be up towards the top..Follow the instructions and you will be back to stock...
The problems I mention above occur mostly during a reboot. The phone does eventually come up, with only occasional lagging still left (which may be more typical). I am torn between dealing with the lagging until Froyo is released (hopefully later this month) or perform the "restore to stock" you mention.
If I decide to "restore to stock", does that mean I lose everything? apps, messages, config, customizations, etc.
And if I lose everything, can I restore some apps with Titanium Backup? TB was loaded 2-3 weeks ago and I do have a full backup.
When Froyo comes, will it require the same or will it upgrade the existing OS and leave apps alone?
Many thanks for your response jhernand1102
I did that too, I sett a replacement lock screen wrong (because it asked me too) and there I was with out s phone for a few hours. The one click odin didn't work for me though. So I used the updated stock rom jh2 i believe. Look for the stock rom threads in developers forum as well as the one click odin.
If the one click odin doesn't work feel free to pm me with questions on the other rom.
Make sure you read it but they is a lot there that may confuse you.

With titanium backup you should be fine. I haven't used it but that's the point of it. A reflash may be easier the finding the error and correcting the problem. And during any flash you may have some risk of losing something but I don't think, going to froyo will lose apps by design. Anyway you have titanium backup and samsung kies to help you keep everything.
Good luck!

Anyway...I did in fact have to reflash. Using the one-click which I believe is this thread is what I used.

Thanks to all for replying today! I will go ahead and re-flash to stock. I was hoping it would be longer (a few months) before I'd have to re-load, but I guess when you live on the edge (root and lots of installs), ya gotta be ready for things to go wrong.
I do love this phone though and Android after being on a BB for so many years! It is pretty much a 1.0, so we should expect bugs and work arounds until they work the kinks out. In a crazy sort of way, it is still fun to work through these gotchas. Thanks again!
Yeah. I really hated the idea of a reflash.
but, if you haven't yet, you need to look in the DEV thread, and look into Clockwork Mod and Rom Recovery. As well, you should get teh paid version of Titanium backup.
Between those two things, occasional reflash and reload is not too painful.
I've learned so much today! Got the paid version of Titanium Backup for an easy "restore all via batch" and also did the ROM Mgr / Clockwork Recovery (thanx ewingr). So, I now have the best of both worlds for getting out of a jam and looking forward to trying out any new ROM's that may come out; with ease thanks to these apps!

[Q] boot loop on inspire after set cpu

Hello...
I'm a newbie to modding phones (obvious from the question/problem I've about to ask). I have an HTC Inspire and I followed the one click rooting guide and installed Coredroid7 with the 3rd set of radio/RIL listed in that thread. With a bit of a struggle I got it working - worked great and I loved it. Unfortunately I found on the market place an app (Overclock Widget by Billy Cui ) - clicked on "load on boot" and a few bad settings and the entire phone froze. Since then whenever I boot my phone is stuck on the white screen with green HTC logo. The config on my phone is:
s-off
hboot 0.85.0019
micop-0438
radio 26.09.04.11_m2
emmc boot
I've googled all of the internet and followed advice such as reflashing the radio/RIL. went into recover and typed the "adb shell, etc... to remove files indicated (but they were not there)". tried to do recover but the recovery files werent there. At this state, there is only so many combinations you can do and I feel I have done it all.
there are a lot of advice on set cpu problem with other HTC devices but none of them work/can be applied to the Inspire.
Can someone please help me? In your answer please answer me in a dumb down way - keeping in mind I am new and have a hard time understanding acroynms and how to perform complex operations with the hint of a word phrase (ie - please be explicit for me on how to flash radio, instead of saying flash radio XYZ)
Thanks in advance
PS: I am already nervous/scared of what has happened, I am hoping I don't have to do a eng s-off as part of the solution please
based on my description (white screen with HTC logo) have i bricked my phone or is it in a boot loop?
i tried the following
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033353
and when i say install PD98IMG.zip it just says installation aborted. This is the image I got from Coredroid7 that was working before the problem started.
also tried this:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...cks/50301-setcpu-forgot-uncheck-set-boot.html
but my phone does not have the file they wanted me to delete
If you see the white HTC logo your always okay. The problem comes when there is nothing showing, you must have changed some settings that won't let the phone complete some core processes.
This can easily be fixed by pulling battery hold volume down button and power and booting into Hboot. Then go into recovery factory reset and wipe dalvik_cache(under advanced) and flash the desired ROM or do a restore from a point your phone worked perfectly.

First... THANK YOU very very much for telling me it is not as bad as it seems.
I have done the following:
go into hboot
recovery option
wipe dalvik
flash coredroid7 again by having it be embedded in PD98IMG.zip however like mentioned above this fails.
Right now I am redoing the process again by formatting my sdcard, creating /download to put the PD98IMG.zip in follow the procedures again above. In case this fails, what are my options?
thanks for the guidance. i flashed it again with:
CoreDroid_Desire_HD_GB_2.3.3_V7.0_RV
and I am out of the white screen mode.
Just remember if your phone boots up but not all the way its still ok you can save it. The easiest although most annoying solution is reflash the rom. Also i know you hear about people bricking there phone. I truly think its harder than anyone thinks. Good luck with the inspire. Also if you want overclocking/underclocking stick with setcpu(you can get it free for being an xda member just search xda). Let it auto detect speeds. Give it root permission (itll pop up asking make sure you check remember above the allow button). If your overclocking I recommend staying undler 1.6 ghz (1600 on setcpu) and go to profile select enable. Then set up a profile for screen off and set it for around 300 mhz to help with battery life.

I think I've had about every kind of soft boot thre is on the sticky guide, and one that isn't, and I have always been able to recover (knock on wood). Even black screens...
I was stuck in a similar situation once:I forgot to take off "load on boot" and increased the max speed all the way to like 1.9. And phone froze.
SetCPU gets permissions in the process of phone boot up, after the whole OS is loaded. There is a tiny time gap between home screen coming up, and SetCPU being granted SU permissions. So this is what I did:
I did a reboot. And after the phone starts, without giving any time opened the app drawer for "SuperUser" app, and took off SetCPU permissions from there. This denied SetCPU of it permissions and it was loaded at default speeds. Then I went into Settings-->Applications, and erased all SetCPU data.
Well, it took me like 3-4 reboots before I could master the timing to get to SuperUser and take off SetCPU from there. But it atleast saved me the hazzle of reflashing everything again. And yes sir, I forgot to take a nandroid backup
thanks
Thanks All

same issue only worse
I have the same situation. I flashed absolution 2.0 last night. Everything went good. Turned it on this morning seemed to work fine also then I turned it off for work and tried turning it back on at the end of the day and it just runs a loop. I can get to the HBOOT menu but I only have 5 options; fastboot, recovery, factory reset, sim lock, and image crc. There is no advance settings and when I choose any of the available options nothing happens except the phone reboots (crc does run a check but then nothing). Hooked to my pc and it says found android 1.0 but I can't do anything with it. I have also pulled the battery and sims card.

What happens when you select recovery and press power?
It just turns off and starts back up and runs its loop. Same for fastboot and factory reboot.
Go here, I've already informed attn1 and his group that you'd be coming.
Going to the link.
They'll get ya fixed up.
Thanks TX. Those guys on that site were awesome. Attn1 worked with me for over an hour. Unfortunately, my phone itself has a hardware failure. Never the less, GREAT support. I wish there was a thank you button for them. This was my first android phone (lasted 3 months) and b/c of the DEV's and other members it won't be my last. Just hope the next one lasts longer.

Market Error

Hello XDA
Anyways i have been browsing for the past week about market errors both on this site and searching through google on multiple forums. I have seen plenty of posts as far as market errors when purchasing apps and have tried all options from clearing cache, to reinstalling market apk. I can purchase from a browser and it will download to my tablet but it would be so much better to do it from the market app itself.
I am rooted and the only real tweak that I have done was the lcd density mod to 120. I have changed it back to default and still can not purchase paid apps. I believe I know what the problem is but have no idea how to attack it.
When initially clicking to purchase an app on market (the price) a pop up will happen. There are 2 layers of it. The top layer is the "an error occurred, please try again" window. Below it is the "accept and buy" window which has the permissions. I have no way of choosing the accept and buy option because it is being covered by the top layer. Somewhere in there its probably sending a request to the server with either an option to either decline or it just gets lost in translation. If there was someway to access that bottom layer to hit accept and buy I probably could have my error fix.
The only thing I havent done is restore to factory. Don't really want to go through that as I can still purchase stuff online to push to my device. Its just an inconvenience and this was my "reattempt" to give android a try again. Long time (and still) IOS user but never had this issue. I love the portability of this tab and being able to customize but between this and of course the long wait for ICS, garyd waiting for correct wifi source, etc., it makes it really hard to appreciate the android system.
I actually picked up one of these the other day from BB. (Almost went for the Archos G9 80 4GB from Staples sale, but then remembered... Archos... ugh.. and then noted that even the newer models rotate screen glacially(draws background/bars fast but icons/widgets take forever(literally) to redraw)...)
Anyways to the topic: Did you check your time? I know it's simple, but if it's off it'll make downloads(and other things) fail.
This happened to me OOB and it took me a minute or two to realize what happened(TZ got changed to GMT on me somehow...).

I love the portability of this tab and being able to customize but between this and of course the long wait for ICS, garyd waiting for correct wifi source, etc., it makes it really hard to appreciate the android system.

The version 3+ market releases have had stricter control on people changing DPI.
If you've already changed your DPI back to 160 and still can't purchase apps, I suggest wiping market data, uninstalling updates and going through the market setup again.
If that still doesn't work, take a nandroid of your device, wipe and try again. If it works afterwards, then something else you've changed is ****ing with your market setup.

The time didnt impact my device but it is a suggestion I haven't tried so thank you.
Overall guess I am going to have to wipe. I know its such a petty thing but maybe its a blessing in disguise to not buy apps haha

np. The ONLY reason that I know about that one is that I've had several tablets(Viewsonic gTablet, Pandigital Novel, Augen Gentouch 78, Nook Color, etc.) that didn't officially come with google apps(gapps henceforth) and that was one of the pitfalls that people normally ran into. There are also a couple of other workarounds that sometimes had to be done but were more along the lines of getting a functional market and shouldn't apply to devices that come with the complete gapps suite, or at least I haven't had any failures on phones or other "officially" supported(licensed?) devices.
Recovery mode doesnt seem to be an option for me right now. Weird. It wasn't working fine last week when i tried. Volume + UP and power button does absolutely nothing. Volume + Down and power button brings me to a message that says " A Custom OS can cause critical problems..." How do i get into recovery? I also tried using the "quick boot" program to boot directly into recovery mode and nothing happened. You will see the Galaxy Tab Plus screen, reboots, and then shows the galaxy tab plus screen again and then boots as normal.
Thanks everyone for all your advice. I found a firmware file so I just used mobile odin and let it do it for me. Dont Know why it ended up doing it that way but oh well. Its over with.

Zoom stuck in perpetual Boot Animation, but will load to Start Screen

OK Guys, I don’t like to bother you until I have already tried everthing I know how to try. The error and solution should hopefully become quite apparent to you once I explain, as you experts are far more knowledgable regarding Android than I will probably ever be.
I am a long time coder and IT manager, with a Bsc in Computer Science back in the early 90‘s, probably before a lot of you were born, sadly for me.....but, as I am sure you can relate, most of the errors I have run into are self inflicted because I HAVE to try the newest Rom, the Newset Kernals, the Newest tweats, Loaders, Launchers, Beta programs, even worse, ALPHA testing, etc, etc and I have wiped and rebuilt so many times it’s sickening.Factory resets, for me, are an ABSOLUTELY LAST RESORT, as I have my tablet set up for my Business Network(s), my home business network, my home entertainment network, multiple VPN’s, and a few custom apps that I had to write myself as there are none out there that do EXACTLY what I need them to do, so doing a Factory Reset is a very large undertaking, and even with Nandroid and other backups, I still have to spend days reconfiguring, initializing, and debugging (basically juggling to get them all to work in a semi harmonious configuration!)
Tablet: Motorola Xoom WIFI MZ604
Rom: CM-10.1-20130605-Nightly-Wingray.zip
Kernal/Loader: TWRP_2.5_RedLacE_Mjamocha_Theme.zip
Launcher: SPB-1.6.4
Fortunately, or at least I hope, this problem is a little different:
Everything has been running perfectly for more than a couple months. I have had no installation issues with other apps, no gliches, no delays, no slowdows, no anything. I wanted to reboot into recovery to do a Nandroid backup, since I hadn’t done one in more than a month. When I pressed the power button for my reboot options, I noticed, for the first time, an option that said “Desktop” (normal). Of course, curiousity getting the better of me, I tapped it, and it switched to “Desktop” (extemded. or Enhanced, I am not sure exactly which one). As soon as I changed that, my Xoom IMMEDIATELY jumped into the Cyanogen Boot Animation. It stayed in that state for about triple the time it normally does on boot, but eventually the main start screen came back up, so I tried to unlock the screen and return to what I was doing. Unfortunately, as soon as I touched the screen, it once again IMMEDIATELY jumped back to the Boot Animation. So I rebooted again, leaving it long enough so that Circle, a program that can act as a screen saver, among other things kicked in, so I thought I was OK. All I wanted to do was hold the power button down long enough to bring back up my power menu, but, alas, LITERALLY, the second I touched the power button.....BAM, back into B.A. No matter how long I left it, no matter what I have tried, always immediately back to the B.A.
Now, I have Full access to all files from Root Up, and can edit or delete any of them, so, logically, there has to be a configuration file that stored this Desktop Enhanced selection, which, by my logic, is about 99% chance of being the cause of this current issue. I believe the option is part of the SPB launcher, but could be wrong, since I have instaled a couple programs that add options to the reboot menu, however, I really do believe that it’s from the SPB Launcher.
ANYTHING that ANYONE of you would be able to do to assist me in fixing this WITHOUT haveing to do a factory reset and restore, would leave all of you forever in my debt.
Thanks so much in advance, and, though I will be checking the posts frequently, feel free to email or PM me.
Regards, Jason
