Hi
I would like to know for your xperia x10, which android apps works and which doesn't?
I have only tried the xyflash trial, and it did not play divx nor h294 in mkv.
I don't want to convert every movie (as it take times). Hopefully something work on xperia will come soon. (i want confirmation before i buy the apps too).
try using blapk market (probably find it on the web only) the developer created it so people could try full version of certain apps without having the feeling of being robbed! but if it does what it claims it should, then out of respect, you should buy the full version from the developers!
ive tried a yxflash version from that market.. not sure if theres a more recent update to it now but it worked ok.. i gues! not sure if it'll be the same for everyone but from what ive tested, avi and divx files worked which is cool but unfortunately i noticed that around 10 minz (im guesin here) the video would freeze (just the clip not the app), yet the audio would continue as normal.
hope any of this helps!!
Well I can confirm that the latest available update for this program has fixed the issue of video freezing! Divx worked well and as 4 avi you can see it reacting slightly slow but some people may be able to live with it for time being until an update can address the issue.
Use YXflash. it work g8t.
I use yxflash, its not bad, i wish i could get the full version free though.
Yxflash still very slow on divx.
I tried many apps so far, i still have yet see a functional H.264 mkv one.
at the back of the phone it said quicktime enable, isn't h.264 apple's ? and mediascape as usual, useless.
Yxflash played divx quite smooth 4 me

How do you use the blapk market? i have installed it but i cannot see any apps...tried adding repos, wouldnt work? does this mean it has been shut down again?
Once you put repos you go to main screen then menu and hit update..
If that doesn't work you can visit the site at www.blackdroid.net, there forum is useful an all..
Hope it helps!

try to use Wuzhenhua Player v4.1, it has support for a wide range of audio and video formats incl flv & rm. it's in Chinese but few buttons are easy to understand
http://mobiputing.com/tag/wuzhenhua-player/
within link above there is a ref to a thread in xda, post 76 you'll find english ver
I checked it out since i am chinese myself, i even got the chinese market place apps. I can't find anything better. yxflash doesn't seem to work for some divx (anime one) and more anime fansub are in MKV/H264 these days.
Wuzhen does play some divx yxflash doesn't play and vice versa. I guess i will just read manga on the subway.
I use RockPlayer, which works a treat... I don't have a heap of movies, so I don't know exactly what it plays, but it sure plays more than the inbuilt media players... and it does it better - no lags, etc...
RockPlayer, search no further, app is amazing, YX Player is a joke compared to this one.
it doesn't seem to work as well as it thought to be, it does move and all but i see big lags.
I think it have to do with the size of the anime i am trying to watch.

Couldn't have said it better myself!! lol
whatz the size of this file? and are you talkin bout these issues on rockplayer, not yxflash?
Cause I have rockplayer and i've used a 1Gb file and framerate was running near 25 frames/sec and had no lag whatsoever!
There's someone who's played a movie (1080i) at 30f/sec without lag..
Maybe something on ya phone is blocking its true potential?

Another vote for Rock player.
I seem to have problems with Rock Player if I use my MW600.. But only when I'm playing divx/xvid.
I hear a crackling sound. If I turn off my headset, the problem is gone.
Am I the only one with this problem? Should I start using Wuzhenhua ?
I use Rockplayer, it is by far the best one out there, no lag on my XviD collection

This beta only work till July 15th, but I hope they will release another one before that.

Hello
*#*#*# BEFORE YOU READ ON only people who have a wind mobile xt720 and dexters uk 1.2 upgrade need to read on*#*#*#
I am a noob at this but I spent most of my day researching the dexter uk upgrade 1.2 (2.2.1) and how to properly install it and I have some questions
I have seen some people saying they have issues with 720p recording(i.e not being able to get 720p resolution and only sd res) and some having issues with music playback.
Can anyone with a wind xt720 confirm these issues? If they are true or not? I ask because there seems to be alot of conflicting reports.
I would cry if something happend to my music playback abilities and I dont want to lose out on the 8 megapixel camera or its 720p hd recording.
If you need any more info just ask and THANK YOU to anyone who maybe able to help me.
And of course ALL HAIL DEXTER and what he has done for everyone who has the xt720 already

Not only ppls from Wind but over the whole world trying Dexter's ROMs have this issue where HD video recording is not recording anything. Just now Dexter said he's fixed that problem and will upload the patch soon.
So, if u don't want to loose ur 720HD, wait till the final stable release has come out. Just now, Dexter has not finalized his work yet. We're just helping him to try out the ROM and reporting the bugs to him.
hd recording found bug and there is no media gallery... gameloft game did work... dunno y it doest detect ext2/ext4..

version 1.2 is detecting ext2 correctly. I'm currently using it. Dexter remove Media Gallery coz currently it cannot playback videos. if u need for other purpose, download the app and install it.
As spider mentioned, there is a patch for the HD encoding. I haven't tried it myself yet though as it is not a big issue for me. I will eventually once I have tested out all of my favourite apps. So far I love froyo, it is much easier to customize the phone to how I like it. A couple of the apps I used on 2.1 don't have a froyo version, but most of them I don't need any more as the functionality is already built in.
I'm also on WIND mobile in TO btw, and my install was very smooth.
I forgot my USB cable that day and ended up doing it all over the air.
THANK YOU EVERYONE I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!!! Thanks.!!!!!
I am going to attempt the latest 2.2 update apparently dexter has fixed the 720p recording, i tell ya this guy is a genius!!!!
i will give you an update when I complete the updgrade.
media player issues
Hey again,
I completed the updgrade and I love the new 2.2.1 1.2a but now I am having a major issue,
before I did the upgarde I moved all my musc to my computer and backuped the device through motorola medialink(MML), the first problem came when medialink did not recognize a playlist I had created on the phone. I said no problem I will just remake it. Well now I restore the backup to the phone and only have 70 of my 1000+ songs showing up in the music player, none of my playlists show up either, although when I plug the phone into my comp MML recognizes all the songs and my playlists as being on the phone, I can even play them on the comp. When I disconnect it and restart the phone I dont see any playlists and like I said only about 70 of my songs show up, I have tried three different mediaplayers to solve this issue with no luck,
CAN ANYONE HELP ME??????

There is a known issue with media scanning in 1.2a. To the best of my knowledge you can either use 1.2 which will not do 720P recording or 1.2a which has the media issue. If you want to stay with the 1.2a you will need to try a different music player such as MortPlayer (which I believe doesn't do play lists ) or, I've also been watching, kAmMa's Folder Player for Android (which I haven't tried yet).

thanks man, going to revert to 1.2 and hope it fixes the problem!!!
Some other options... you could consider sticking at 1.1b. It works pretty well, imo.
Or you could use DoubleTwist... which has its own library system... but requires you to use the desktop app to sync.

yah I know about this one, its one I tried, Just not sure if I want to spend the next few hours sorting all my music again lol.
It does have some kool features though
THanks again for the help !!!!!!
I tried to use double twist media player and I installed the app on my phone and pc, on my pc I made a playlist, transfered the playlist to the phone, it was on my phone until I rebooted then it vanished. Still seems to be a problem with media scanning, I also tried Mixzing basic and the regular music player with no success.
Hey all, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I much enjoy watching movies on the DC's beautiful amoled display...
HERE'S THE PROBLEM: Upon booting my phone, all videos run fine (mp4, flv, youtube, facebook, etc.). However, after several hours and upon going to play a video, it either doesn't load on site or, when opened in video player, moboplayer, mplayer, vplayer, etc, i get the "sorry this video cannot be played" message. Upon rebooting, my videos work again... for a time
Is anyone else experiencing this issue or have any possible idea what's causing it/how to fix it? thanks in advance
fyi my phone is running imnuts' ed2 debloated v4 kernel, rooted of course

I have had the music player and pandora not function untill after reboot. The music player would say that MP3 is not supported, lol. Also on imnuts voodoo kernel.
I'm having the same problem...after a while nothing is recognized on the media player and you tube videos play with no video, just a black screen...reboot fixes it...

Anyone tried updating Flash to see if it makes a difference?
I'm stock ed2 and have the same issue. Only a reboot fixes it for me.
I wonder if it's some kind of memory leak. Be interesting to look at when you start having the issue.

how do you do that? I mean, I've looked up flash updates, but I think it's built into the operating system? i can't find any. *I apologize if these are noob statements but I really am at a loss. And would flash alone account for ALL my videos not working, even ones that aren't flv files?

Stock ED2....same issue...reboot is only fix...gonna post to verizon support so maybe an update will fix.
It seems my audio issues only surface when I plug the headphone jack in b4 playing music, I get a "does not support this format message". When I start the music and then plug in, no problems.
Bumping this thread to see if anyone found a solution or knows what causes this.

I did hear someone say that installing CWM, PBJ lagfix kernel, and Gummy CHARGED ROM helped with freezing videos they would get, but I don't know what aspect of that helped.
Same issue here, on both ED2 and EE4. All apps that require the media player service, like YouTube, HBOgo, DoggCatcher, etc will NOT play until you reboot. Other apps that do not use the internal playback player like Poweramp continue to work. Only remedy is a reboot. VERY annoying.
I have submitted this issue to Samsung and I am waiting to see what they have to say. If EVERYONE else who has this issue and is reading this can do the same, it would be greatly appreciated.
I made this quick video summarizing the issues we are seeing here. If you can, please distribute it to people and maybe we can gain some attention. This is driving me nuts!

Mine doesn't play videos from other sources no matter what. Lame because when I went over to GummyCharged, the same videos work fine.
Hi, which version do you recommend using in my new infuse? The last of October 18?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311960
Which*
and i am currently using CM7, but if you want touchwiz, i find Infused to be the most stable.
Darky rom is amazing!!
Darky Baby the one and only!!!
darky/any of the JVT roms have problems reading ID3 tags properly if you're planning to use your infuse as your primary music player like i do. particularily, they have trouble reading MP4, FLAC tags and it doesn't recognize some others too.
I personally recommend installing CM7, dynamic ram's 99 tweaks/server system/app process, and then finishing it off with USAS v13. It'll be crackhead fast, extremely responsive but the bluetooth doesn't work. I have no use for BT so that doesn't matter to me.
If you don't care about the ID3 tags, then i would say go with darky. amazingly snappy, and it has all the samsung apps on it too (i like the samsung contacts app, swiping left and right). I would say it's more responsive than the CM7 on its own, but after installing the 2 tweaks above i'd say they're about equal in snappiness.
Personally a fan of miui. Super customizable but need some under clocking cause it drains juice a bit. My second choice is def CM7.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
Depends on your needs. If you want bluetooth audio to work, I would avoid MIUI and CM7. They will never get bt working until the official is released.
If you like modified or skinned roms, anything with KK2 would be a good choice. I believe KK1 had some errors, so avoid that. If you want one of the latest stock roms, I'd try VictoryRom. I'm using it now and it works great without all the modifications. Bluetooth audio, wifi and GPS all work and it's already rooted.

So it sounds like JVT ROM's don't read ID3 tags properly? Sucks, I really want to use my phone as my main music player.

unfortunately. I tried ID3 v3,v2.3 in the 3 different encoding formats none of them picked up properly. so i got frustrated and went back to CM7. I also tried using the id3 changers from the market to see if that works, no luck. all the mp4/flacs cant even be edited. switching back to CM7 fixed those things for me.

m4a is also affected. Mp3's are affected in what appears to be a random pattern. Few songs from albums will show up different than the rest of the album. it'll lump my anime genre with my soundtrack genre. my k-pop genre showed up as k-pop twice, same spelling, half the songs in one, other half in the other.
i don't know why the music core from samsung is so broken but using it as a music player is impossible for me =[

I am having a problem with any media player except the stock one. I want to use a 3rd party media player, so that I don't have to convert my movies to something compatible with the stock media player. the problem is whenever I use a 3rd party media player, I hook the phone to my tv, and the movie plays for a few minutes, then it stops, and loses my place, this is very irritating. This doesn't happen on the the stock media player. Does anyone have any ideas? I have tried at least 6 third party media players, and they all stop every few minutes... For now I am just converting my movies for use with the stock player, but this is time consuming.
it depends on what app you're trying to use. you might want to see if there's an extra codec pack. i know that mobo player has a lot of add-on codec packs. if this is the case and the dev is smart, the codec packs are usually in the market, just like the original program.
also, you may want to try something with soft decoding included, if you're not already.

Most of the players had soft decoding, and it isn't a codec pack, the videos play, but suddenly stop. The only one that doesn't do that is the stock one. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you all use the stock player?
does it only do it when using tv out or does it happen on the device screen, also? what rom/kernel are you using?
Have you. Tried remote for vlc? I think you can play media on the sd card. Not sure haven't tried it but worth a shot if you haven't.

So it seems to only do it when using the tv out function, which is really cruddy, because I don't want to watch movies on my tiny phone, I want to watch them on the big tv. I am using Bulletproof 1.0, and the stock kernel. I am going to try remote for vlc right now, but I am thinking the problem is something to do with the tv out function.
I understand the frustration. My educated guess would have to be that it has something to do with a kernel conflict. Try a different rom and/or kernel. There are, also, some updates for bulletproof now, too.

If I remember correctly this happened on other roms too, but I will try again. I tried the new bulletproof, but I liked the old one better. I haven't tried a different kernel though, so I will start flashing different kernel/rom combos, to see if it makes a difference.

Sorry, I missed this thread. I'm kinda skimming over the boards while i'm doing paperwork and such, so i'm skipping over things and not realizing it. (hate januaries, always so busy)
Anyways, it's a codec issue. You'll only get the problem when outputting to tv - and soft-decoding only solves part of the problem.
What's happening is your file format is too far away from what the hardware can handle easily while it's also trying to feed the video out and keep the screen active on the device.
Even though you check soft-decoding in the app, without proper codecs installed it defaults some or all of the work back to the hardware.
I use Mobo Player, free video app and is hands-down my favorite one on Android. It lets you choose soft-decoding in the settings menu, but they also supply a codec you can find in the market.
I'm using the ARM V7_VFP codec from the same author as Mobo Player, and don't have a problem with it. When I do reflash and forget to install it then it goes back to randomly cutting out while i'm enjoying my movie/show or whatever.
Edit: This Google Market Link will get you to the right codec for our device.
I suppose I should have mentioned something about it in my ROM thread, since I included it in Bulletproof for that reason - but, there's a lot going on here lol.
I should have seen this thread yesterday, but I suppose i'm looking at it the wrong way since I get to skim the forums while i'm getting work done. (as opposed to not being able to browse them at all.)
Anyways, Mobo Player is free, and so is the codec, so all you lose for trying is time - give it a shot and see where it gets ya.

Looks like Wifi-calling is also causing a whole mess of trouble on the device.
It can't do something, and keeps trying, which is part (if not all of) why the system can't keep up with a movie.
I just removed it from my build a little while ago after I couldn't get it to play nice, and I can't describe how much more smoothly my system is running without it (minus a couple of hiccups because it's not there anymore and things are expecting it to be)
I'm going to rebuild a Bulletproof distribution without the wifi-calling and see what kind of data I can dredge up to compare to - but I have a feeling this is the other piece of the puzzle for why it's not working right.
I'm on the same version of wifi-calling that has been around for a while - I think there was an update to it in one of the OTA updates? Can't remember.
I'm pushing the edge of exhaustion, it's been a few days, so i'm probably not gonna get to it tonight, but it's the next thing on my list. Figured i'd mention it here in case anyone wanted to experiment with it in the meanwhile.
I'm not kidding when I say it's literally like a whole new device without wifi calling - I honestly can't believe what a difference it's absence is making.

You deserve your rest! I just wanted to report back, that I am still having the same problem. I updated to bulletproof 1.1, and installed the codec that you linked to, still had the problem. The movie will play for a few minutes, and then suddenly stop. I then installed all the codecs for mobo player, and still nothing. I can't remember if this happened on the stock rom or not. My boyfriend is still on the stock rom, so when he come by tonight, I will test a 3rd party media player on his, to see if there is still the same problem. If it works on stock, I may just flash back to stock for now, to save me the trouble of converting a lot of my movies. Thanks for all your help Blue.
Also, I can't wait to see the rom without wifi calling!
If you have the android sdk set up on a computer you can plug into, set your phone to usb-debugging/charge only and plug it in and watch the output.
You'll see the wifi calling app (kineto) going nutzo - i've been trying to mak it behave for a while because some people mentioned liking using it (even though it doesn't work so well) but tonight was the last straw with it.
Now that it's gone from my device, I can't tell you how much smoother it's been running. The whole output on my screen going all the way back to before I posted last (so, i've moved past the buffer in the log) and not one error msg.
That was unheard of with the wifi calling app on the device, and it made it look like it was more then one app causing the problem. Got rid of that one, and it solved pretty much the whole thing.
I wasn't having an issue with it crashing out of the movie earlier today - but I just set a friend of mine up with rooting his new MT4GS, so I flashed mine fresh alongside when we did his yesterday (day before?) ...
You might wanna try just axing that real quick before you go flashing all over again - just a thought
Finishing up my last call of the night, i'll catch up with you all tomorrow - hope it works out for you.

I do have sdk installed and working on my computer, but I am still a newb when it comes to actually using it lol. Just so you know, I had my boyfriend try to run a movie with tv out on my tv, with mobo player, and it crashed too, and he is on stock. The problem is definitely not rom related. I am going to try getting rid of wifi calling and see if that improves anything. I will let you know.

Appreciate the confirmation it's not ROM related - It's one thing for me to say it as the creator of the ROM, another thing for a third party to verify it.
Are you on a windows machine? If so:
In your SDK folder, go to the 'tools' folder. In it you will find a file called "ddms.bat"
Open this, and it will launch a DOS window, which then launches a GUI after a few mins.
Welcome to the dalvik debug monitor window.
Now what you do, is go to settings on your device. In the "Connect to PC" option, set it to "charge only"
Then, back in the settings menu, go to "applications" then "development" and make sure "USB debugging" is checked.
(also might be a good idea to check "stay awake")
Now you can plug the doubleshot into the computer without having it disable your sdcard access, and let it just run like normal.
Plug it into the computer, and you will see it pop up in the list in the dalvik debug monitor.
You can watch what it's doing and see if you have any issues.
It might help you to track down this problem, and see about a resolution. DDMS is one of the primary troubleshooting tools you should be using to figure out what's going on on your device.
Often times I just let one of my doubleshots stay plugged in to ddms while i'm sitting here, and just have the log running while i'm working on the laptop next to the pc. Familiarizing yourself with the device in this fashion will help a lot in terms of development, but even as just a user you will get a huge understanding of what the device is doing.
The first time it injected the A-GPS data while I was connected to DDMS was awesome - little things like that give you a huge understanding of what's going on.
Also, it'll keep running if you reboot the device while it's connected - lets you see what happens when it shuts down but also what happens when it first boots up.

Removing wifi calling has been such a great move - trying to fight with it and getting it to play nice is like trying to get water to flow uphill.
I just threw together a flashable Bulletproof zip without it and am getting ready to flash it to my phone, we'll see how this goes but I have a feeling that the wifi calling app is a large part of the remaining problem once the correct codec is installed and you have soft-decoding active.
Okay, something isn't right now.
For a while Moboplayer was working fine with soft decoding and output to television, but now I can't get too far before it fatally crashes out.
I am wracking my brain trying to figure out why it was working for a while but now is not - meantime, the generic player will output to television without crashing...but suffers the odd video issue present with hardware decoding that makes it not so great. Gets artifacts on-screen and doesn't properly display the video on the television smoothly, yet appears fine on the device itself.
There is an answer somewhere - i'm not sure what it is, but it'll be found ... we just need to keep trying.
Either need to figure out why any aftermarket player crashes (I think it has something to do with audio - but that could be misleading since the headphones jack we are using for video output counts as audio - at least in the logs)
Ive had the same issue with mx player, mobo player,v player with just the device itsel. I didnt have the codec packs for mx or mobo player installed at the time tho. I got vplayer working by changing the buffer & disabling hardware decoding. Here are the specs for the video I was playing at the time: Video 724 kbps xvid Audio 5.1 AC3 Resolution 640x272 2.35:1

Working as in it'll play the whole video through without crashing out?
