stuntdouble has created a great list of apps, games and utilities but how about a thread for honeycomb compatible launchers ?
one of the things i love about android is the ability to use custom launchers .... however not many seem to work on honeycomb.
might be worth keeping this list separate though as launchers tend to evolve more.
starting the list then -
Launcher Pro - seems to work very well and seems to be nicely tweaked for HC.
VTL launcher - i believe this is being built specifically for HC and seems to be a nice start.
anyone found any others ?
list starts here ..

either that or feel free to add launchers to your lists
i just figured that compatible launchers would just be a slow burn thread
I added a couple a while ago, but tbh I don't really care much for them personally. Not really all that many updated for honeycomb. I think the fact that the default launcher works just fine has put off most developers.

Def disagree with that post. 3.1 launcher is still laggy as hell. Adw ex is super smooth. Also adw ex is updated for honeycomb with hdpi icon hack and graphic acceleration.
Can someone post a pic of launcher pro?

If you browse this thread there are a few using lp and adw.
I am using lp at the moment and like the widgets, animations and customisation. Adw does much the same.

Well you're entitled to your opinion ofc, but I don't get any lag with it on mine in 3.0.1. I'd say you've been installing badly coded apps that have made it laggy tbh if you had it bad in 3.0.1 as well. Don't know about 3.1 yet, will see tomorrow though.

Seriously... do I need an entire row of every home page on my device taken up by something with the ADW logo, and "ADW Launcher EX" on it?
Is there a way to take that god awful advertisement off there? Worst idea ever, like I don't know what Launcher I'm using, srsly.

whatever was the dev thinking ???
apart from that im finding ADW works great on the transformer. Would quite like to see whether the Regina Launcher dev manages a port - and the SPB UI looks fantastic ! ive you havent seen it i suggest a view on youtube !!
not sure when its likely to be released though
Tried ADW, but every time I try to resize an object, it crashes.

Thanks but that's not what I meant.
I was wondering if there is a way to change the docks around like in LP, but I guess not. I see some themes that change the dock form the market, but they never look right. ADW EX is nice, but without the ability to change docks and have any decent swype gestures.. LP is still the better Launcher!
Thanks for the pic tho, sucks about the friggin 15 minute window for returns, you need more than 15 to decide on this launcher.

Yeah the 15 minute limit to decide on whether you want a new launcher completely sucks. Who can fully test a new launcher in 15 minutes. The limit should be an hour. I expect google to get some serious blowback on that.
Anyway, no, you can't change docks in adw like in lp. have no idea why adw has not added that feature. love adw for many reasons but its the niggling little stuff like that (leaving out obvious features everyone wants) that just annoys me.

I guess maybe he doesn't wanna be like LP, but the themes in the market are so generic and the docks that come with them look like crap. I love the transitions and a lot of the new features, but not changing my dock and not being able to swipe icons on my dock are major reasons why I use LP.
Oh well, I own it now in case things like that ever do get implemented. Thanks you for your feedback.

You actually can swipe icons on ADW Ex. If you swipe up on the dock it brings up a hidden dock that you can place icons on. I have about 12 icons on mine. You can swipe left to right on the hidden dock. I hope that helps.

It does, I'll have to look into it and see what exactly you're talking about.
LP tho, for example, I have the icon for my app drawer, if I swpie up on that it opens the Torch which is really handy for the late nights I leave my buddies place... long, dark, downhill driveway lol.
If it starts to become to complicated then it's easier to just use a widget, which is pretty ugly and matches nothing.
I appreciate the tip tho, I'll definitely check it out. The custom dock is a deal breaker for me right now tho.
If only ADW and LP could have a baby, that would be the perfect launcher

LOL. Too busy working on GB.
I'm not sure if he added it or I overlooked it.. but you can indeed change docks in ADW ex now!
It's under dock settings, there is an option to choose from adw docks (which aren't many) or from your gallery.. this is a hugely welcomed addition.
If your dock doesn't show right after you change it, just restart ADW.
**edit** I see now that he did in fact add support for custom docks.
yea i saw this in the update yesterday... glad he did get it added tho

I am looking for best launcher for tab. I installed 3 of them launcher pro, launcher 7 and golauncher.
Launcher pro is good, but need to pay for its widgets. No crashes till now.
Launcher 7 is good but very less home screen options. No crashing but sometime slow to start home screen.
I am highly upset with golauncher, i make my home screen staying whole night, adding widgets shortcuts but when i woke up in morning one of three home screen was lost with all content! !!
I made it again and later find out two two home screen collaspe and became ONE! overlapping apps.
Golauncher has more option than launcher pro, widgets are free to but it crashes everytime, is there any way to fix it ?
Or any other best launcher?

i can only agree with ganj...
i use it for quite a time now and no probs with ...fast and smooth
I use launcher pro, only because of the sexy theme-able widgets
I've run LauncherPro since it was in Alpha, and I can testify to it's performance, both on my Tab and my OG Droid. I love the ability to skin the widgets, and even though it's been a looooong time coming, Fede is rewriting the entire launcher code in order to enhance performance. ADW EX does have benefits though, especially with things like being able to move the app drawer out of the dock, and onto the homescreen. Being able to remove the dock is cool as well. The major issue I had with EX, was with widget resizing and overlapping... I could just never get it to work as well as LP. Either way though, you can't go wrong. They're both great launchers.
ADW Launcher for free is smooth and quite customizable. The EX version is hands down the best, and it's cheap.
And there's VTL.Launcher too
I use Go Launcher Ex and no problem with, for me it's the best, free, many theme for free and you know that widget free also....

Another vote for ADW Ex. VTL is nice also, based on ADW. ADW Ex and Live Wallpaper Switcher so you have different backgrounds on each page is golden. Resizable widgets is good too.

Yup. Adw ex is my fall back launcher. Its the one I end up running on most kernel and rom combos. Open home, based on Adw too I believe, is fantastic too. Great customization and a solid feel bit its a limitless over priced, its confusing about the whole 5/6 thing and it seems wrong to have a commercial launcher called "open" is a bit cynical. It might be just my setup but I also had battery issues from it.
My latest favourite is actually GO launcher with weather and task manager widget and am running go SMS too. Just realised I never even installed Adw when I last flashed.. hmm well there you go. Been a good solid few days with no issues at all and thinking about it I've had no lag, good battery and yeah forgot I was even running it if that makes sense. Free is free too afterall and the only real complaint is the limited premium themes but there are loads of free ones, some quite nice too.

Go Launcher EX. So far it shows the best perf and usability combination for me on both froyo and gb.
BTW, I am willing to switch to TW4 if I can see a good perf (not yet, at least with Overcome GB Gold).
@gandroid and all who thinks ADWlauncher is good, i am preety pissed of with it. I bought without trying its free version now they will not make refunds.
I even cant figure out how to add awd widgets , it just takes me to market where there is option to buy only. Is there any free widgets and themes that comes with it or we have to buy everything. I dont want to pay more for launcher only.
I bought launcher pro also, which has itself free widgets. Its worth of 3 somthing dollar.
Somebody please tell me either i dont know how to use adw or it doesnt have any widgets.

I use VTL.Launcher, its a fork of ADW designed for Tablets. Brilliant launcher imo, a LOT of customisability and options, and not exactly expensive either.
I prefer the Go Launcher, too. It can has an unlimited number of screens and is VERY customizable, even the shortcuts/icons on the desktop. Before, i used launcherpro. But Go Launcher is free and even more customizable.
Go and ADW
Originally I was a fan of LP but since my discovery of ADW Ex I have been using the latter. Excellent launcher in every respect. Go Ex is also extremely good. My comments would be : Go Ex seems to me the best as far as the usability and inteface is concerned (if it works properly), it probably has the best themes as well. Another great point is the ease with which we can put multiple icons on the screen. BUT, I am having a few problems with it. Everytime I reboot the widgets disappear and I have to put them back again which is a pain. That is happeneing with ADW as well, perhaps its my ROM or kernel. It also seemed to be obviously slower than the ADW. So now I am using Go Ex with my tab and ADW on the Galaxy s phone. So ADW is definitely faster.
I used Go Launcher EX. Because its free.

vote to go launcher ex, much custimizable, umlimited screens, lots of themes, smooth and statable..
So I've never used a launcher before this day. I always knew they had cool features but just didn't feel like learning a whole new launcher. In your opinion which one is the best? I will try any launcher paid or free. If it's free great but if it's worth the money I'll surely support the developer.
I tried GO Launcher EX and it looked alright... I guess, I put the Sense theme on(latest one) and it was bugged like ****, the menu buttons were covering the Sense buttons so I couldn't use them and it didn't even have the carousel effect, it just moved between pages normally. I don't know if I did something wrong(I even tried rebooting, still nothing), I just ran the Launcher and applied the Sense theme from within it. So from my experience this Launcher already sucks which brings us back to the main point of this topic; what is the best launcher(your personal favorite)?

A lot of people really like ADW. Is it free?
Go Launcher is and is extremely configurable. Check out all the preferences you can customize, then check out the themes. (Some paid themes and a bunch of free ones...just have to search for them.)
I LOVE the transparent theme combined with the transparent dock theme. You can apply themes to the GO Widgets also, which makes them look pretty nice.

Not true, I didnt see clear in there.
I've used all the popular launchers. My favorite is MIUI, but that requires MIUI Rom, which we don't have. My current launcher of choice is GO Launcher. It used to kind of suck, but they make improvements all the time and there are many really nice free themes for it. Right now I'm using Windows 7 theme.

Hi, anyone here able to confirm if it's working properly on the Note? I am kinda concerned if the resolution will affect ADW EX...
Works fine except coming from sgs2 the adw on note is a tad laggier when swiping screen i think cuz it aint optmised yet. Especially whem u start putting a hell of a lot of widgets on it. It was irritating enuf for me i reverted back to the stock t wiz. That said apparently other home screen replscements GO included seem to be having the same problem
. Gotta wait for some custom roms cuz it coukd be stock rom issue

I seem to be following a path similar to many on this forum: Dell Streak, SGS2, Galaxy Note.
I've also noticed that ADW EX is laggy compared to SGS2.
Its interesting that SPB Shell 3D runs virtually the same on the Note and the SGS2. I think its probably because Shell 3D has a better graphics engine than ADW EX and can handle the higher resolution better. Now that I'm used to it I actually like SPB Shell 3D a little better. The folders are much better and allow you to see what's in them. The widgets are also much slicker and nice. Plus, I don't have to go to 3rd party widgets for contacts, bookmarks and calendar and I can use all the Samsung widgets too.

That the update for Go Launcher EX on the 16th, fixed the scaling issues for the Note. Looks very good, but still the lag remains.
I just install the latest version and it seems that some strange bugs remain, like option menu wrongly resized... but my main problem is that i'm not able to resize menu icons... it is possible for desktop but not for menu icons... and they are very very small... can we do anything about that? did I miss some trick?
I'd really love to switch to Go Launcher, but even under the new version the lagging is still too noticeable. Plus I'm actually getting quite attached to Samsung's calendar widget, which only seems to work under TouchWiz.
Apparently there's another update to Go Launcher coming out next week - hopefully they'll get the lag sorted out as I can't see any reason why the performance on the Note shouldn't be absolutely stunning......

When i installed it on my S2 the first time, it lagged like hell during transition. After switching over to the LP and finding out that it didn't support gmail unread email count, i switched back to go launcher. Same setup as previous installation but 0 lag
Heya, I did search and haven't found a topic discussing Nova Launcher.
I was wondering what everyones opinion was on it now that we have ICS.
So far I have been enjoying it, I like the customization it offers.

I'm going to stick to stock launcher until they release Nova for tablets cuz at the moment some features don't look and work quite well on tablets plus I find stock launcher faster
Nova works fine for tablets. I have been using it on my nexus since 2 months and on my transformer since today. Works perfectly. Smooth amd fast.

I just installed Nova, and it seems pretty nice... a few nice options stock doesn't have.
I can't figure out how to add a folder though... can anyone help me out with that? I see the options for folder backgrounds, etc... I just can't figure out how to make one on the desktop.
*edit* Never mind... I figured it out. For anyone else wondering, drag one icon on top of another, iPhone style.
I installed Nova Launcher today and like it a lot so far. Very smooth
Trying apex launcher right now it has almost every option that nova has its free no upgrade to premium crap like nova more features are coming soon and its under 1mb in size
Think i have found my fav ics launcher for now

I've tried both free versions of Nova and Apex and I must say I prefer Apex.
The thing about Nova is that it is not fully optimized yet for tablets. From the app drawer you can see that it only fills the middle part of the screen. Features are limited for the free version whereas for Apex, it is completely free with all features that Nova Prime has. I'll stick to Apex for now.. but I'll still keep a lookout for Nova.

My Nova fills the whole(app drawer) screen. At first it didnt, but i think after a reboot of something it fixed itself and now works great.

Weird. After a reboot, mine's still not fullscreen. Did you integrate the Nova Launcher as a system app?
For me the nova docked increased in size when i increased the desktop width x height grid to 10x 10, then after applying the settings i changed it back to the original 8x9 i wanted.

Just go into Nova Settings -> Desktop
Increase the value for Columns. It will make app drawer fill the screen more.
You can increase the Rows too but 8 or higher will make icon labels invisible. 7 is the max without making the labels disappear.

Google it.
Nova launcher for sure.... by far the smoothest launcher ive used on any device. no stutters. and the card stack transition is a personal fave.
Well I use Nova on my phone and it is just perfect for it, but when it came to my TF, I found it was a bit awkward... No matter what, I would find the margins a bit too large, and my Asus Weather widget would look cropped at the bottom (I had to resize it real big to have something convenient).
I tried Apex, and it's much more to my liking. A tad faster for me, and it even got the screen transitions i craved so much on stock. Apex it is, then !
