[Q] Das BAMF USB Debugging NOT comming up - Thunderbolt General

I just loaded 1.7 Remix from 1.6.3 Regular and neither seem to allow my phone to properly show up in eclipse. I've tried checking and unchecking the USB Debugging and the icon is never there in the status bar. I was wondering if it just might be hidden and the debug mode is always on? Target: Unknown, Debug: Blank, State: Offline. I have a Motorolla Droid that works fine with this setup. Am I missing something here or what?

I don't think you are missing anything. I am having no issues with debugging,. Out should have been set on after you flashed. I would flash again.

What version are you running? I have technically flashed 3 times. Twice on my phone and once on my GF's phone. Neither give the USB Debugging icon when plugged in and neither show up properly on eclipse. I'm all for wiping again if it is a problem that would be fixed by it but since I've tried multiple versions on multiple phones I'm sure it's gotta be something else.

I'm not exactly sure if flashing it (with Liquid Lightningsense) was the fix or if there is just a crappy chance (around 50%) for Das BAMF to have issues with debugging but the problem is fixed.
The Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14323238#post14323238 suggested that killing all tasks can fix the problem, but I only noticed that it fixed the problem after I flashed to liquid. I flashed back and the problem was still fixed. Guess I'll hafta test on my GF's phone for the final answer to whether just repeated flashing is the answer even if you've flashed before.
droid_freak may have been right, give me a bit to work on the GF before I test... she doesn't want to have to set up all of her stuff again so soon. I will edit the original post with the results then.

The icon is hidden in bamf.

No kidding, that mod is most likely the whole reason why when flashing the rom you have a 50% chance for USB Debugging to fail. Sure, it is nice to not have it constantly up but when something like that isn't under known issues with a solution it's a ***** to figure out what to do when you have already re-flashed to try to fix. So far I haven't seen one of the developers even comment on it. I could be wrong, they might not have quoted somebody complaining in their response. Besides that I love their roms...

Hmm, never had a debugging problem since running bamf.

I had the same problem and I herd it was a bunch of different things, and apparently a lot of captivates have the same problem, but I got tired of it and went back to original 2.2 and it works perfectly, but I think it is the rom's

I'm having the same problem. It's been fine for about 2 weeks and just started doing this yesterday.
I had a lagfix enable and instead of switch lagfixes, I just disabled it entirely. I'll see how today goes and report back.
Also, check page 77 of the Doc's Rom thread in the Dev section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9391314&highlight=random+restart#post9391314
This was happening on my boss's Captivate. While it's not necessarily the right way to fix it, I removed the external SD card. It was rebooting 2-3 times per day, now it doesn't ever reboot. I've read this problem isn't necessarily tied to a specific ROM though, so maybe it has nothing to do with the problem that you're having.

intermittent connectivity while tethering

I'm experiencing intermittent connectivity while tethering my thunderbolt through either wifi or a usb cable. I usually have to restart the app or the phone to get it back. Anyone else experiencing this?
i used to have this happen to me alll the time. now i rarely see it. was using bamf rom at the time and nothing but grief. now i'm on synergy rom and using wireless tether 2.07 and no problems. which rom/kernel/radio are you using?

funny you should mention that as i'm using bamf 3.0 haha. Guess I know what I need to do now.
btw, the latest wireless tether app, the 3.01 or something, doesn't work. try either the 207 or 205 version. whichever will give you better stability. the stock tethering app that comes with the rom and anyother rom, doesnt give me good results. i wasn't able to download even a 350mb rom without loosing the 4g, no its not a problem. i also noticed that the 4g disappears whenever i opened too many tabs at the same time on tethered computer. guess too many pages loading at the same time somehow overloads something. i have no explanation.
I use BAMF and have same problem and i noticed connectivety dropped when display went to sleep so when tethering i turn it to not cut off and i have no problems now

this is a different problem. i think that he's talking about the 4g connection disappearing for a second, then reappearing, but being unable to tether anymore. happens at random. ur talking about he wifi sleep policy thing.

Rooted, now now data service

I am using simple mobile, I'm not sure if rooting will cause an issue with this...but now I don't have internet access even with the correct APN set up.

What ROM? I also have SM, but have never encountered any problems with data on any ROM. Make sure it's actually on and the APN is case-sensitive.

Maybe. I guess you should flash a different kernel - faux123 does wonders. I'm currently running the MIUI/faux combo and it works great.

Ok i've seen that kernel floating around. I just reinstalled CM7 Nightly and no changes, i did a hard reboot so the APN's would populate...but nothing is working. At least with WIFI i can install all the google apks and get the phone set up correctly. I CAN make phone calls without the wifi present, so at least there is that, haha.

So can i get simple mobile to work on my phone with CM7? None of the fixes for the APN are working. I've tried multiple ROMS from different developers.
This one by Faux123, its the 2.3.4 AOSP or something like that, right? I tried to download, but the host website isn't responding.
Is there a way to download the STOCK 2.3.3 kernel for the G2X?
This is why they say to back up first before flashing.
Most of the files linked around here were on megaupload which is now defunct.
Ill work on upping a new one, but someone may beat me to it.
or...just search....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278910
Did your data work with the stock rom and then stop when you rooted and flashed a different one?

SM uses t-mobiles network, and in my area, t-mobile's data network has gone to hell. Most of my friends using t-mobile smartphones have had data issues in the past few days. Quite possibly the same thing might be happening to you?
Simply rename tmo apn name to simplemo, then apn to Simple, mms apn should add smpl.mms, have fun.
Sent via G2X-SINGH-UI
Alright, this is weird. I noticed after a hard reboot that the APN's populating are the T-mobile, and one called SIMPLE, the SIMPLE APN has the same MMS settings and all that stuff but has a proxy server attached, along with some other fields.
This one works, for right now anyway, last night it wasnt. The APN setup provided on the G2X section of Simple Mobile's website isnt working for me anymore for whatever reason.
I'm not too worried about it, i guess. everything seems to be working, i even switched to the T-mobile APN then back to SIMPLE just to test it out.
Either way, I need to get off Simple Mobile.

USB tether 4g never works correctly? AOSP

I've tried every AOSP Rom/Kernel variations and I can't get anything to stay USB 4g tethered for more then 5 minutes. Tshed was flying with stock CM7 USB tether and then all of the sudden doesn't work. I tried all AOSP Roms. And wired-tether 1.4 is what I use. Please help me out. I have this phone for another year and that's all I'm missing. Please help. A trick, known set up, etc maybe. Anything not to have to reset the app every 3-5 minutes or so. I can't believe I haven't seen this brought up lately? Is it only me?

Have u tried pda net?
Sent from my SCH-I405 using XDA App
Yeah u have to install software on every PC u wanna use and that kinda sucks but I still get the frequent resets and they're connection is pretty slow. I have to reset pdanet, wired-tether 1.4, etc. Every few minutes. I used watershed 1.2 cm7 stock USB tether and it worked beautifully for about a day and then nothing. So I flashed imo's kernel and stock tether doesn't work at all but I have to reset wired-tether 1.4 every 3-5 minutes or so.
Sent from my HTC ThunderBolt using Tapatalk
I don't use USB tethering often, but when I do, the built in version always works perfectly. Tried it on OMFGB, liquid AOSP, and workshed CM7. An older version of Imo's kernel (version 4 I think) supports USB tethering.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I use easy tether and have no issues. For wifi tether I use opengarden (faster than USB tether) don't have issues with either.
And its only when I try to use 4G. 3G will stay tethered all day long if i let it but its just way to slow. I usually get 15-20 Mbps down with USB tether 4g. Thats fast as hell. I wish I had a little Porto WiFi adapter for my work PC's. Cuz yeah when I wifi tether my AOKP TouchPad I dont have this problem.
There may be something wrong specifically with his ROM. I have USB Tethering working fine on my Sense-based ROM, but I tried his and it would work for 15 seconds and stop working, then never reconnect. I tried having something persistently connected to internet on my phone but that didn't help either.
I use the ClockworkMod Tether. Works on every ROM I've tried.
I was hoping I wasn't gonna have to resort to sense but I might have
to. I need this to just work. No installer PC ware

Ive tried my Phenom2 x6 and 2 Diff. Core 2 Duo's (that's just my House).
A few Newer laptops. Wifi tether worked no problem, just alot slower then straight USB (when it works).
There were a few at work I tried and No good either.
Back when I first started bringing up this issue (Sept.) I was told It was a known 4g issue (By a great Dev who has since moved to the Razor, hint hint) and that's why there is no problem with 3 g tethering at all. Just wondering If someone had a set up that completely works with out having to reset every 5 Min or so. I think I had good Luck with ThunderShed 1.3 this weekend. I fell asleep FTPing some stuff from my friend (good size) and It was finished when I woke up. That's a good sign so far. I just need one person to see this thread that has the perfect setup for 4G USB Tethering, 24/7 if need be. It would be great to know.

I always just used the built in wired tether with cm7. I had an issue once where it would drop in and out, but after doing a total reset and reloading cm7 once again, it was fine. I also don't use the DNS with the phone. I switch my DNS on my PC to be layer3 DNS (4.2.2.1 to 4.2.2.6). DNS is allegedly one of the ways they can track what device the transfer is coming from.

Might also try disabling IPv6 and anything else not needed on the connection as it won't actually tether through it anyways. It could be causing a conflict somehow

So you are running which cm7. I am now running TShed 1.3 and stock tether was great for about 20 minutes. Then just stopped. So turned off tether reset mobile data and 3g 4g. Nothing. Not even wired 1.4 works. Rebooted a few times, I've been at this for bout an hour now and still nothing. Not even wired 1.4. So I switched from auto to 4.2.2.1-4.2.2.6 DNS. Thanks for that bit of info. Now do I have to do that every time? Anyway I'm frigging stuck here and I hear all these people's are working fine.

Not sure why it keeps changing your connection number. It's never done that to me unless I've flashed a new ROM or something when I've used it on windows 7. Turning off and turning back on your wifi device might also do it (the one attached to your PC).

[Q] WiFi not working on T959V after ICS update

First of all I would like to say I appreciate all the work that the XDA forums has been doing, and I am pleased to see that the community is as strong, if not, stronger since the last time that I have been here a couple years ago. The questions, answers, feedback and help, let alone for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G released by T-Mobile in February of 2011, is amazing. These forums have really helped people make the most out of their device, and had it not exist, this Galaxy S in my hand would have been long forgotten by Samsung, and the Gingerbread stock ROM that I was given with would be my home. It reminded me of how much I had missed messing with these android devices; nothing like jailbreaking and installing cydia on my iPhone. The experience is not the same. Anyways...
Pulling out my T959V from its box I decided it was time to finally install ICS on it after Samsung have let these great device fade away.
I installed ICS last night and stayed up searching for kernels and testing out different ROMS some slow and many faster than others and decided that Cyanogen 9 was the best looking and performance-wise ROM on the phone in my opinion. Considering that all other ROMS base it on the nightly builds extra stuff was just junk, considering this phone only has one processor. So I upgraded from Gingerbread 2.3.6 and I've tried many different kernels and everything works except WiFi. It can not even search for one network no matter how many times I press "Scan". I'd appreciate all the help I can get.
Thanks

I'd check the MD5 of the CM9 DL and make sure it's a match. I haven't heard of anyone else having that issue. Also make sure you DL the latest CM9. If the MD5 matches format system, wipe cache/dalvik and flash again. Reboot an let it sit for five minutes then try wifi.

Yeah I've checked the MD5 sums of the zip packages after download. This is so bizarre, and the CM9 is not the only ROM I've tried. I've tried about 4 or 5 of them and different kernels as well and all of them do not connect to WiFi. I have formatted system, and always wiped any trace of the prior ROM before installing. Plus, I have tried the method where I would boot to recovery and "fix permissions". No good.
I would use a heimdall one click go back to stock kj6 then flash up to cm9. Sounds like you have some bugs that will only get squashed by going back to stock. IMO I would flash bootloaders too. Just so it overwrites EVERYTHING.

Sounding more and more like a hardware issue. Wifi and bluetooth are on the same chip so if your still on stock try and turn on BT. If it turns on it might not be the chip. If it gives the same error I'd bet money on a bad chip.
This would be a good time for logcat and dmesg...

Bluetooth works fine, WiFi just wont turn on. Its not a hardware issue, and WiFi was working the same day before I flashed to ICS
Done use stock + blastoff that is a stepping stone one click for people to go back to stock then either flash another gb rom or ics rom. Wifi is broken because of the new wifi module used. I never meant for it to be used as a daily driver. Use the heimdall one click bhundven has posted in his one click thread.
@mkho30
I had the same exact Wi-Fi issue a few months ago. I tried everything you tried and what members are suggesting in this thread.
I also asked about this issue on irc (Team Acid) and was told by Bryan that ICS (if I remember correctly) doesn't support WPS button connection. I assumed it was "on my end" and not ROM related.
Bryan suggested that I reboot my router. I had done that several times before asking. I didn't even know you could log in to your router to reconfigure it so he suggested that I Google to learn.
Long story short. I googled and read allot. I reconfigured my router many different ways. I disabled my WPS button connection and reset my router many times. I changed the security every way possible. I even set up a guest network.. the ONLY way I was able to connect to my Wi-Fi network was if I disabled the security COMPLETELY.
That wasn't an option for me. I live in an apartment building and I have seen people in the halls with laptops using their neighbors Wi-Fi.
I tried everything for a couple of months and finally went back to Gingerbread last weekend.
Sorry I can't be of any help with this reply. I just wanted to share my experience and let you know that you aren't the only one that has this issue...man I miss ICS. I didn't have an issue with the battery after "I settled in" Hopefully we can find out what is going on with us.
Btw. I'm back on Gingerbread and I connect to Wi-Fi with no problems.

I tried that several times FB. During my searching I came across a thread (one of those answers sites) that gave your answer as a fix.
I REALLY did my do diligence in trying to get connected. I hadn't seen anyone else with this problem until today so I spent hours trying WPA2 and other configurations. I thought WPA2 would fix it for sure because that was what I had read so I kept trying it. It never worked for me. The only thing that did was having no encryption at all..I started to think that it was a "Black Ice Voodoo thing" lol. Remember how some users, no matter what they did, could never flash Black Ice Voodoo?
Btw the error I always got was an Authentication error.
Thanks for replying
If you're up for it and your router is supported, try OpenWRT. It really sounds like a router issue.
Posted from my SGS4G, thanks to Team Acid development
Sorry. I don't use a pc at work. I have to sneak on xda using my phone and they don't like seeing is on our phones for to long.
I forgot to mention in my reply to the OP that I DIDN'T have a problem scanning for Wi-Fi access. I could do that. I just couldn't connect without getting an Authentication Error. My phone would scan, connect, then discontent and give me the error.
I've had the exact same authentication error, scans, asks for password, tries to connect, then errors out, usually always after flashing CM9 and either a reinstall (recopying to my SDcard too) or a fix permissions have fixed it.
ALSO, this is very important. FORGET the connections in your wifi list after doing the fix permissions. IT WILL NOT connect to a saved connection. Reboot to recovery, fix permissions (don't use a tool within android), goto wifi, click on the connection and choose forget, then choose the connection again and try that.

I will try this. I have done much of what you have stated here maybe even all of it before. But not in the order you describe.. I'd really like to go back to ICS. I had 4G on it (home) where I used to get 3G on Gingerbread. Also at home I needed Wi-Fi calling on Gingerbread but on ICS I had great reception.
@jeff. I just googled OpenWRT and I should have before I said I'll try it when I get home lol. OpenWRT might be to much for me right now.
Thank you for all your help people. I'll update you as soon as I can. I must go sailing now. It's Red Flag!
