Safest way is to install the official update, which may or maynot be available now depending on your country. Moto has promised an update by june end in all countries, so if its not available to you, just wait a few more weeks. Else there are a lot if froyo sbfs to flash available here.

Froyo on XT720

Hi,
i've read on the support-page from Motorola (https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades) that the xt720 in Europe will stay on 2.1, but the Korean version will get the 2.2 update... So will it be possible to get the Korean 2.2 Rom and flash it to the European one? And how about the Language will that be possible to change?
BTW, will there be a seperate Forum for the XT720??
Greets,
**Jürgen**
Just read that information too...
Used to say 2.2 comes in [Q4] on 720...
Pisses me off
everyone
go here

sign up and sign that petition. if motorola wont move its ass on this im boycotting them for life >_>
Good idea, but i don't think that will have an effect. If this is going to work, there need to be some 100.000 people at least... Whyever Moto thinks that the phone isn't worth the wile, it has to be a massive call to them to react... sadly
I think if there is going to be a port, it has to come from the community. But the same problem here, the phone doesn't seem be have been bought enough to make a custom ROM, there even isn't a seperate Forum on the device...
PLEASE someone who can do this, help us out to not let a good phone to fade away...
problem is that the kernel has not been hacked yet. its locked on the xt 720
its better to try then just say its no use right?

Petition signed, such a disappointment when I learned that 2.2 will not be rolled out to the xt720.
Yea, me too, so lets hope for the best or at least for costum roms; )

So what does it mean now?
We can load custom roms (Froyo)?
I am on the verge of selling this phone because of no Froyo upgrade.

[Resolved] [Q] HTC Sensation vs Motorola Atrix 2? Which one I should buy?

Hello,
I would like to hear some advice about which device I should buy please, HTC Sensation or Motorola Atrix 2.
I have HD2 in mean time and I love the development stuff, and the custom roms more than official updates, but also in same time I don't mind buying the Atrix 2 if it's really good device, so please help.
Oh one more question does anyone know if the Atrix 2 would get an official update to ICS or not? thank you so much in advance.

4-how can i know that device refurbished or not?
5-tools that been used and its function?
6-critical things that is may kill the device during upgrade and how to know proper firm ware?
there no answer? iam waiting your help
Sorry I just give you wrong answer, but you can go to development thread.. in my country there's a forum that explain how to root and how if the device bricked, or another what are you asking. I'm from indonesia.

If you can buy a newer one then go for that... 4.2 you can run but getting 3G is not something we can promise. I myself have MZ601 and I am using a custom ROM that is meant for MZ604 and hence I do not have 3G.
There will be no further development for this, so you might as well look for newer tabs if you want latest build, else you can definitely buy one

few things
1 - xoom is 2 years old, and will no longer receive official updates. all updates from now on will be through custom roms brought to us by wonderful developers like Team EOS and Team Rogue.
2 - there is still good support, just check out this forum. lots of stickies on what you need to know. use the search function and you should find everything you need.
3 - yes. my current xoom mz601 is running 4.2.1 thanks to the developers mentioned above. since it is from the US and currently i am also in egypt, i have to 3g service, so i just flash the wifi only roms. Search the forums, there are plenty of guides on rooting and flashing custom roms.
The Motorola Xoom is bound to receive it's final update in Jellybean 4.1 or 4.2 beyond that it's doubtful that Motorola will update. Unless they are not releasing another table this year.
you can check here: https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c
US xooms will get 4.1 and thats it.
Yup. I read bout it yesterday. It seemed to slip under my radar. Guess it's time to unlock and root to get updates. That's the beauty of android. Always an alternative.

HTC One S updates

So recently i bought an HTC One S with an S3 processor which its country is of Asia. I am currently at europe. I still am on Android 4.0.3 and there doesnt seem to be an update for my phone. Now i know that 4.0.4 and also JB are rolling out, but not for my device. Is there anything I can do to solve this ?
Thanks
I live in a country where HTC sell the S3 processor only. I had my cousin sent me HOS from US, big difference.
You might want to trade for an S4 though.
In the meantime you can search the development forum and look for an S3 ROM.
Not many but there are some.

HOS stands for Htc One S and a Rom is basically an operating system for your device that is nothing like stock, has tweaks here and there things that stock doesnt, and if you root you will.still be able to receive updates but you have to relock the phone and some other things I can't remember then you can apply the update, basically you can't apply update to a rooted phone its just gonna give you and installation error then reboot your phone I think but that's basically it for your questions, hopefully it was helpful to you

Thanks for the information !
A friend told me that if i root the phone i can change my firmware from Asia to Europe where i live so that i can recieve updates accordingly to my phone. Is this true ?
Also is there a detailed noob instructions for me to follow and learn more about rooting the phone and installing customs ROMS etc. ?
Thanks

If you root, you can manually install all sorts of fun stuff. I think if you want to remain as close to stock and receive "official" updates, super cid is something you might wanna read about. There's a thread in the Dev Section by Torxx that I used to root my S4 you might wanna look over and see if that's for you. Make sure everything you decide to do is compatible with your S3 first though.
Edit: there's also another guide in the general section

£50 for help to unbrick my HTC One in London, UK

Hi, I recently bought a HTC One from someone on gumtree in the knowledge that it was a Google Play edition. I was hoping to be able to restore it to HTC Sense 5 but I haven't been able to after two days. And now I think I've bricked my phone. I'm hoping someone knows how to restore the stock ROM. I'm willing to travel and to pay £50 for anyone who to restore my phone to Sense 5, would be really great to get it done this weekend if possible. I hope this request doesn't sound too weird but I need expert help!
