Hello guys, probably it has been discussed before but coukd not find it. İf i leave my transformer in sleep state the battery drains all the juice in 3-4 days. İ need to prevent this what settings should i play with? İ dont want it to do no sync or anything at the background when it is in sleep mode
İ also dont wanna turn it off completely. My ipad 1 was only drainin around % 5 battery in sleep mode in 5 days. How can i make it par with ipad? Please help me to do the right settings
You can't...battery drains in sleep mode...a bug I cannot stand...turning WiFi and background notifications helps.... I turn the bad boy off if I am not going to use it for a long time.
Thanks. is it true for android tablets or eee pad only? i may try samsung before going back to ipad 2
I cannot say for other android tablets...color nook gets excellent battery life in sleep mode.
Don't give up on the transformer...to me it is a very good device and battery life in sleep mode will get fixed ..I hope..I have the iPad 1 and I use it also, but for different reasons...for me its no big to turn it off. Which ever route you take....hope it works out....

Nook also doesn't use Honeycomb.
@OP: Can you post a graph of your battery usage? I had this problem and fixed it. It was ROM-related I guess.
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p163/gbd270/P20110723082933.png is a picture of my sleep mode. 7h+ hours of idle mode (sleep)
i read in another post there is a known issue with some docks nd to contact asus directly there is a fix.

I was speaking from a point on 'officiality.' But I guess that counts, I don't follow the Nook.
@abprie: Umm.. I don't know how to answer that question.
PRIME 1.6 + Netformer 1.5 is what I use.
I gave battery tips in this thread (or maybe it was in another) refer to those.
To really diagnose your source of where the battery drain is coming from you need battery usage.. or some kind of app that monitors battery levels per app.
I've had pretty good battery life on my phone in the month I've had it, up until the last few days. Last night, I last looked at it with about 80% battery in the evening. This morning, it had 16%. I looked at the battery history, and I saw
Dialer - 38%
Wifi - 22%
Cell Standby - 17%
Phone Idle - 16%
The little blue line that indicates actual time that battery was being used is just a solid line. The graph is relatively level for the first several hours, then just a steady 30 degree or so downward angle.
What's up with that?
What ROM you running?
Sounds like an app is not being closed properly?
Lemme guess Sense?

Recalibrate your battery an app on the market might clear that up

Will give that a shot. Thanks.
or you could turn off your wifi when not in used. Even better, turn off mobile networks and you'll definitely save battery juice.

Well the first thing you need to do is calibrate the battery properly. That way you have an accurate measurement of what's happening. You can use THIS guide. At the end of the guide is a link to the app strapped mentioned. Also, you may want to turn off WiFi when not in use. It's an easy way to conserve battery.

Ok so I"ll bite "Protip" ??? Who's the " Pro " ?
Huh. Weird. At least on my old phone, wifi used less battery than mobile data. I guess on the Shift, for some reason wifi uses more battery?
I calibrated the battery yesterday, and I also turned off wifi. This morning, my phone was at 70%, which is much better than 16.
Vicodan, I appreciate the tips, but if I wanted to run CM7, I'd have loaded it instead. I have CM7 on my Nook and I know it's great, but for now, I'm not ready to give up Sense.

nearly was late for work because my phone died and i was using it as an alarm. what could have drained 50% battery in 6 hours and not show? wifi was off
while the graph is nice, better battery stats is what we need.

what you didnt post is the page with what was using your battery by %. now how are we supposed to tell you what happened and what used your battery? this thread is pointless because you gave us no usable information. what i got from the info that you did post is that a UFO flew by you and drained your battery of its power. and the thing is, my guess will be just as good as any other guess.

stock alarm app, no. but you do have a lot of wakelocks. when the screen is shown off, your device should be asleep. your device shows a lot of activity when your screens off(ironically, not when the supposed battery drain happened though, so i cant say thats why it drained).
Do you have the horrid camera bug?
Do you use exchange at all? I've had a lot of phones (android mostly htc and iphones) hit bugs from exchange in push mode and burn through their battery really quickly constantly trying to sync and hitting an error.
I charge mine on my dresser next to my head, and also use it as an alarm, I'd recommend charging it over night

I'm guessing this http://www.androidcentral.com/googl...cpu-usage-bug-fix-coming-next-android-release
I found it by googling "Nexus 5 horrid camera bug" lol, first link
Stock apps have no such issue as till date.Except for apps that use internet /wifi consume a lot of battery. So switch of those frst or keep ur cell on flight mode. The battery consumption may be due to gplay service, account sync, gmaps etc. I don't own a nexus device but I have experienced this kind of behaviour with my phone sometimes with a hot back cover sometimes.Try using apps like greenify to control this prob(or switch of ur network @ night/use lower cpu values + governers like powersave/conservative)
I noticed battery draining fast since I installed gravity box. Without even touching the phone in the morning it will go down to 99%
I attached the screenshot of wakelock detector from this morning. an hour commute with just listening to music dropped 15%
You need to be a bit clearer with your reports about 'drain'
Are you reporting 1% battery drop as a 'drain' definitely due to gravitybox?
Are you using a custom rom with a feature conflicting with gravitybox?
Can you uninstall gravitybox and immediately confirm the drain goes away?
Your 15% drop, were you streaming via 3G on your hour commute? If so that sounds reasonable as it works harder to keep the signal
Try betterbatterystats as well to look at other wakelocks

I am stock but rooted.
I am on lte but half of my commute i have no signal from being on a train. but usually my phone lasts a day or at least 12 hours now i am only getting 6 hours.
I will try better battery stats and then post a screenshot before uninstall gravity body
I have the same problem. I Ajay lost 3%in one minute after using this for 4 minutes. Something not right with that gravity box. I'll be lucky to get 2.5 hours of screen time compared to my 3.5 I used to get.

Gravity box won't drain your battery.
Not having a signal on the train will tho....big time. Unless you switched to airplane mode? Anytime the phone has to look for a signal, the battery takes a real beating.

rooting does not necessarily mean you will have better or wore battery. Try changing the kernel, stock kernel gives you 3-3.5 hrs SOT normal usage.(unless you use it to read books)
I had 0% drain overnight when i first bough the phone, but after a while 1-3% drain overnight is normal.

Different kernels behave differently for everyone's device and usage. You need to experiment yourself.
But before you do, work out what is using your battery first, electricity doesn't just disappear, tends to obey the laws of physics...
Then determine if it's definitely gravity box, or if you're experiencing phone 'usage' as opposed to battery 'drain'
Leave wakelock detector and betterbatterystats for collecting data for much longer. Put your phone down for a while...

Are you performing soft restarts? If so, that's probably the reason. For some reason, Android doesn't take well to soft restarts, so when you soft reset it never initializes properly and you end up with strange things like excessive battery drainage.

Interesting...I've been having erratic drain patterns lately with no visible culprits. I've noticed it happens sometimes after updating gravity box and I always do a soft reboot, so that might explain it. Do you have any more information about it?
Sent from my Nexus 5
I only did 1 softboot.
I think the culprit is google music it drains the battery like crazy. I tried not listening to music on my commute and got to work with 98% battery. With google music I will get to work with 90%

soft reboots do fine on android. your "never initializes properly" is inaccurate and just plain wrong.

To be honest this looks like phone usage, rather than particularly bad battery 'drain'. Are you expecting that your battery should be 98% if you listen to music while on the move for an hour? Or what would a reasonable expected level be?
Your first post said that an hour commute dropped 15%, now it's dropping 10%? Sounds like an improvement to me.

In general usage, I keep my performance set on lower modes. That REALLY helps. That, and maybe around half battery keeps me going. I regularly get at least 8-10 hours of video when doing so. Hope this helps!

Yeah that is pretty odd isn't it? I switched to NOVA launcher and haven't had an issue since. Although I haven't even had to be away rom the charger lately so have been keeping it on high performance. It seems like it is lasting better after several full discharges oddly. I probably only use the Tab for 2 hours a day or so, but I'm regularly getting 2-3 days or more.
