Factory Samsung wall charger or non-factory? The resistors on USB D+ and D- of chargers designed for Ipod/Phone/Pad are detected by our phone as USB.
I have seen this issue before too. It's really not a problem. It will still charge just fine.

Its the factory samsung charger. After trying to connect to the computer yester to no avail now everytime I plug into a ac socket I get usb mgmt. Just was wondering is my phone screwed, charging differently and not efficiently, etc.
My wife's infuse started doing that shortly after we bought it. Exchanged it for another one.
Defective cable, charger, or phone. Don't know which.
USB mode vs. "AC" mode is determined in compliance with the USB Battery Charging standard - if D+ and D- of the USB port are shorted by the charger, it signals a "dumb" charger capable of more than 500 mA. If not, it assumes USB which has a limit of 500 mA from the bus. The phone actually has no way of knowing it is on AC or not, just that it is getting +5 volts from a USB port that is indicating presence of a "dumb" charger. It will report this as AC even with a different source (like a car charger).
Actual charge current into the battery on USB is 475 mA. Normal "on-charger" current is 600 mA.
iPad/Phone/Pod chargers use a different method of signaling a "dumb charger" that our phones treat as USB.
I upgraded today and now my TF won't charge with the USB cable.
I didn't bring my power connector to work, so all I have is my usb cable. When I get home I'll plug it in and see, but I'm surprised that it is not charging via USB.
Did anyone else have this issue?
ummmm it dont charge through PC usb... need to use the AC adapter to charge...
It does not charge via USB 2.0, but i do believe it may charge via USB 3.0...
I have had no need for an extra charger and have not read any charging cables threads in this forum thouroughly enough.

I thought it trickled charged on USB? I guess not. It charges fine o charger. My mistake.
It'll charge via USB but it's very slow and the tablet must be turned off first.
What will my transformer only charge with the main adaptor? Extenssions dont work (usb) and i have usb debugging on. I cant even use my portable charge, or my cable box ich all work with my cell.

do you have the dock? pretty sure it works fine with mine. wht rom/kernel are you using?
It will charge from the main adapter from a wall plug in. It will charge from the dock. It will SLOWLY trickle charge from usb if the screen is off.
No im on stock have b70 so no root. And no dock

Also im just using a usb extension to make cable longer but still using main adaptor with wall outlet

Had it plugged into cable box usb overnight screen off no luck. Its like it only work with its own stuff

Yes...It really only works with its own stuff. Some have claimed to have it charge from usb when it was off but I have never tested it.
Are any other similar devices able to charge through usb? Netbooks or laptops? Usb was not designed to be a big power source. Some hard drives require two usb connectors for just a hard drive.

From what i have read in other threads it has to do with the voltage required and how Asus wired their plug.
Use USB 3.0 cables and it will work fine. Also use a USB 3.0 port on the pc for slow charging.
Usb 3 cable works fine here...

When I connect my P6200 using usb, it doesn't charge, instead, there is an 'x' symbol at the battery. Is this normal? Because using my Galaxy Ace, it charges when usb is connected. I'm asking this because I'm trying usb tether for the first time, but in this case if it doesn't charge, it means that I can only usb tether until my battery has depleted and I would have to recharge again to be able to tether.
Yup. Usb is not able to charge tab and ipad. Need to plug to wall for charging

Actually it does charge. More of a trickle charge tho. If the screen is off, then it will trickle charge a bit faster.
If the tab is connected via USB, will it at least be able to sustain itself via the USB power?
So if your battery is on 50%, and you keep the tablet on and are using it. Will it at least stay on 50% and not decrease slowly?
Samsung puts a resistor in their chargers so the tablet can distinguish between a Samsung brand charger and all other chargers.
The tablet will not charge (or use power from) any USB port except the wall adapter. (lame Samsung... really lame...)
You can buy adapters (or make them)
There's more info for creating an adapter yourself in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845844
Just like the GT-P1000, P6200 is charging over the usb port of any pc, only when it is turned off. But anyway the charging process is much longer. Very useful when you don't heave the travel adapter with you.
i use this usb cable it work
It pulls a Max of 500mA from the USB or unknown charger. This will charge a tab plus with the screen off that isn't doing much. It will pull 1500mA from the Samsung wall charger.

My Plus charges normally from PC via USB. Icon shows 'x', but still in charging process anyway. It takes longer time but for those who tether should be ok and Plus should stay at least on the same level of %. I have unoriginal cable bought together with car charger.
I purchased a micro USB charger adapter from ebay. It just plugs into the 30 pin port and I am able to use my cell phone charger with no problem at all. The cell charger puts out 1000ma and the tab plus recognizes it. Do a search for P6200 Micro USB Charger Adapter on ebay.
If you are determined to use a computer to charge the tab plus, you will need the adapter above and a dual USB A to micro USB B Y cable. It will plug into two USB ports on the computer and give you the 1000ma to charge the tab plus. This is the best solution without having power cables all over your desk.
re
HEllo, where can I buy this cable?
thanks

or you can make it charge by requesting this feature in a custom kernel
Thanks
Yesterday I bought P6200 without charger, was using usb cable and it ws slow.
First I thought there might be some problems but this post helped me figure the cause
Hi,
I just got this item from ebay: New USB Charger Converter Adapter for Samsung Galaxy P1000 Tab
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190706474031?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
it says in the specs that "Connects Samsung P1000 charging cable with 2.1A current output power adapter."
I tried with the tablet 8.9 and it really charges from the computer USB, unlike a without this converter that only keeps the charging.
Im using A1 kernel and Im just wondering if there is any risk? or someone have experience this kind of adapters earlier?
ERM. Doesn't the tab come with a 2.1amp out brick in the box?
Both my 10.1 and 8.9 came with the same 2.1amp brick.
If you want faster charging, you gotta find a kernel that supports fast charge. AFAIK, AOKP builds this in and can be swapped on and off in performance settings.

Im talking about an attachment that makes your tablet to charge faster from the usb port of the computer
Sent from my GT-P7300 using xda app-developers app
if you're charging from a standard .5A usb 2 port you won't charge any faster as this won't magically turn your .5A port to a 2.1A. what it will do is allow you to fast charge from a source that can output more power, like an aftermarket usb charger or possibly a usb 3.0 port.

I have it with me, and it does the magic, normal usb cable doesnt charge at all ( on a1 kernel 1.7.3) with this device in few minutes i see an increase in charge.
Im just a bit worried since i havent seen any of these around, if someone else have used them
