do you have the dock? pretty sure it works fine with mine. wht rom/kernel are you using?
It will charge from the main adapter from a wall plug in. It will charge from the dock. It will SLOWLY trickle charge from usb if the screen is off.
No im on stock have b70 so no root. And no dock

Had it plugged into cable box usb overnight screen off no luck. Its like it only work with its own stuff

Yes...It really only works with its own stuff. Some have claimed to have it charge from usb when it was off but I have never tested it.
Are any other similar devices able to charge through usb? Netbooks or laptops? Usb was not designed to be a big power source. Some hard drives require two usb connectors for just a hard drive.

From what i have read in other threads it has to do with the voltage required and how Asus wired their plug.
Use USB 3.0 cables and it will work fine. Also use a USB 3.0 port on the pc for slow charging.
Usb 3 cable works fine here...

Hey guys,
Been wondering how everyone else charges their phones. I've always used my usb charger and only used the car charger when necessary.

Drain till 2 percent charge to 100 unplug turn off charge up to 100 turn on charge and repeat 2 times. Long story short I bump charge

I do the battery calibration from the other thread about once a week. For everyday charging I just charge when low. So far my battery last pretty long.some days longer then others.
I usually just plug it in
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Just the usual. Plug it into the standard micro USB the phone came with. Calibrate every time I update my ROM(since Humble comes with a battery calibrate app, makes it very easy).
at home i use the USB charger that came with the Charge. at work i use a micro usb charger that came with a palm pixi or a bluetooth headset that used micro usb to charge. I tried using a microusb cable plugged into my work computer, but that triggers the usb storage mode, which stops my podcast player. I've also noticed some universal usb chargers trigger the USB storage mode.
In the car I have the Charge car dock. I use a mini usb charger for a garmin gps with a mini to micro usb adapter with it. If I plug that directly into the Charge, it triggers the Desktop dock mode, rather than car dock mode.

Bahaha. Here, I use my Galaxy Tab charger. Goes a lot faster because of the higher amperage, plus I don't need to charge my Tab very often.

I upgraded today and now my TF won't charge with the USB cable.
I didn't bring my power connector to work, so all I have is my usb cable. When I get home I'll plug it in and see, but I'm surprised that it is not charging via USB.
Did anyone else have this issue?
ummmm it dont charge through PC usb... need to use the AC adapter to charge...
It does not charge via USB 2.0, but i do believe it may charge via USB 3.0...
I have had no need for an extra charger and have not read any charging cables threads in this forum thouroughly enough.

I thought it trickled charged on USB? I guess not. It charges fine o charger. My mistake.
It'll charge via USB but it's very slow and the tablet must be turned off first.
Hi.
I've just rooted my epad (having B70 serial) but I've noticed that when I plug in the USB cable to the computer, it won't recharge. Is that normal??

Yes normal. Does not charge with USB to PC.
ya its not so posed to fully charge but correct me if i am wrong i think that it trickle charges if it is plugged into a highspeed or a 3.0 port with the screen off

I believed so but I think you need a 3.0 USB cable also IIRC
You will get a trickle off USB2; not sure if anyone has tried USB3, I would think it can give enough juice to charge though. For meaningful stuff in the stikk USB2 filled world, use the charger

Hmm so nothing definitive then on this?
Could you use the keypad ports to charge?
If so would it matter which port you plug it in to on the Transformer?

Reading the manual, it says after charging the first time, that the tablet can be charged by USB if there is enough power through the USB port. I put an extension between the Asus adapter and the proprietary cord, and it won't charge unless directly connected to the adapter. I have USB 3 port on my computer that gives out higher than standard power, and I have a USB port in my car, and this tablet won't charge on anything except a direct single asus wire connection to the Asus adapter. Is this correct? It seems that I may have a defective tablet.
Are there any other people having this issue.
USB 3.0

The USB extension also needs to be USB 3.0. Is the one you're using?
The extension was to the power outlet in the wall.
I wonder if the Asus chord is made for USB 3 then?
Sent from my brain to my hand to XDA
Is your extension just a USB extension or a powered USB extension? Maybe it carries data but not power? Can you charge other devices with the extension (and do they actually charge at a decent rate)?
Yes! I charge my htc sensation on it all the time. But I more than that, I am trying to find out if others are able to charge via the Asus proprietary USB cord to another source such as a computer or car etc.....
as opposed to using the wall power adapter from Asus

I also can't get the tf700 to charge with any adapter other than the supplied charger. I've tried 500mA, 1A and 1.9A (from a Nook color) USB chargers and none work.

I am quite certain that it says in the user manual that it is possible to charge via USB, i don't have it with me at work, but can someone verify this.... it could be a major issue for some, and needs to be addressed. I know that the battery power at full charge is not going to last all day for me, and being able to charge via USB is really important since i am in sales so i do not have access to an electrical outlet, but i do have a USB port in my car.

I'll add my personal experience to this...
When I got the tablet I put in a basic USB extension cable between the tablet cable and the outlet adapter. I didn't notice for an hour or so that it wasn't saying it was "charging".
Except...in that hour the battery hadn't gone at all.
And with the screen off and left to its own devices it will charge to 100%.
So I guess the point is this, it may not say its charging but it is getting power. If you're using it as like an overnight charging thing, it should work just fine.
Doesn't the manual say that you need to power it off before changing over USB?

Thanks for pointing this out.
I'll have to check this out, but I hope one doesn't need to have to restart a tablet, just to change the power source. Kind of a pain

So maybe it is charging a little, even though it says it isn't. I think I will try this out and leave it for a few hours or overnight as a test.

So I plugged into the USB port and the power level was at 78%, I left it plugged in for about 5 hours and when i rechecked, it read 97%. The whole time it read as Not charging. This is good news, I really need that feature. It is interesting that it reads as Not charging, this must be a software error.

Hi,
I just got this item from ebay: New USB Charger Converter Adapter for Samsung Galaxy P1000 Tab
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190706474031?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
it says in the specs that "Connects Samsung P1000 charging cable with 2.1A current output power adapter."
I tried with the tablet 8.9 and it really charges from the computer USB, unlike a without this converter that only keeps the charging.
Im using A1 kernel and Im just wondering if there is any risk? or someone have experience this kind of adapters earlier?
ERM. Doesn't the tab come with a 2.1amp out brick in the box?
Both my 10.1 and 8.9 came with the same 2.1amp brick.
If you want faster charging, you gotta find a kernel that supports fast charge. AFAIK, AOKP builds this in and can be swapped on and off in performance settings.

Im talking about an attachment that makes your tablet to charge faster from the usb port of the computer
Sent from my GT-P7300 using xda app-developers app
if you're charging from a standard .5A usb 2 port you won't charge any faster as this won't magically turn your .5A port to a 2.1A. what it will do is allow you to fast charge from a source that can output more power, like an aftermarket usb charger or possibly a usb 3.0 port.

Im just a bit worried since i havent seen any of these around, if someone else have used them
