[Q]Cant download apps - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

im having a LOT of trouble downloading apps on my TF which my xperia can download.
my tf says that my country its not allowed to download the app.
there is a way to bypass this? or a way to get the apps =(?
Edit
strange enough i could download angrybirds on my first tablet, now i cant anymore =s

try and find one of the many market fixers out there.
find the apk, put on SD, and install via the file manager.
"market enabler" allows you to spoof your location in the eyes of the market. i'm unsure if there's one that works specifically with honeycomb.
also, rooting and installing the US version of a rom like Prime might help as well.
hope i helped.

installing an apk

ok, i have just done the v10d update and the video is much better...
Now id like to install an apk from my desktop of minidiary but it doesnt install..
Is that what rooting is for? to accept all apk's?
Sorry for the dumb question, i was a symbian s60v3 and s60v5 user..
Nope. To install apk's you just need to tell the phone to accept non-market items. Go to your phone's settings, then Applications and check the top option (should be called something like Unknown Sources, I have to translate from Dutch).
Then just copy the apk to your phome and use Polaris Office or a separate apk installer from the market to browse to the apk and install it.
Hello
I tried that and it didnt work, was not installed or something like that. I ticked it to accept non android market apps.
Its probably pirated i guess.. found it on the net. Does rooting make it accept all non-signed apps? What is root for?
Thanks
ps: does anyone know where i can download mini-diary. Great little app i saw in the galaxy s2
No, rooting gives you administrative access to some files which you normally don't have so you can customize the phone the way you like it.
The safest way to download applications is via the Market app on your phone (you can also try http://market.android.com). However if you don't want to pay for some apps then you can search google adding the ".apk" and the apk version in the search bar.

[Q] installing apk on unrooted tf

I'm working with a new b80 so its unrooted running stock rom 3.2 android hopefully a root will be out soon.
what happens: the package installer runs tells about it but install button is not clickable only cancel is
i have tried lots of apks. get the apk to the tf by any means sd or usb or hook it up and put it in there with windows
find it with a file manager and try to run it and the above happens
have also tried installing it with windows installers meant for phones with no luck
yes i have a check mark by allow unknown sources
yes i have tried several installers from the market
yes i have tried different file managers from the market too
get the same result
can you install apks on unrooted machines?
Does app from market install?
Shouldn't matter if you're rooted or not unless you're trying to install a system apk
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
yes market apps work just fine
Have you tried using the "install application" option in Asus Sync?
Can you tell us what app? Maybe it's not compatible or something. If you got it from a pirating site or any other site, it could probably be corrupt.
just got several aps ones that i havent been able to install any other way pirated and some that are not to install useing asus sync
It works great if anyone knows a work around i would still like to know just so i wouldnt have to be home to install apks
Thanks for your time guys

[Q] download incompatible app from market

The is an app in the market that I would like to get but it says it is incompatible with the transformer but I am 99 44/100% sure it will work.
Is there a way to fool the market place? I searched and found answers for other devices but none for the transformer.
Thanks in advance!!

Hi
If you have another android device, like phone, download it to phone, make backup, transfer apk to TF and install. Works for me.
I have downloaded apps directly to my tf and after uninstalling them tried to get them from the market only to be listed as incompatible..think it had something to do with having a custom rom, some of them include older versions of market, some have the option to install the ics market app, while others have options to go back to the hc market app. AS poster before said, you can download on another compatible device and make a backup and just swap the apk over, but if you don't have a backup device many of the apps on the market can be found in the wild as the raw apk file, even some pay apps can be found in the wild, though i don't pirate apps because that is the sure way to kill or own market (who is going to design apps for android if they can be pirated so easily?).
Also, try to get the 'tablet market' app, that seems to have the tablet optimized versions of some apps that are hard to find via market.

O didn't understand you had the apk from the market the first time. Thought you said you first downloaded it from another site then the google market.
Otherwise you need root for you transformer indeed. they are in /data/app folder

[Q] Brand New 4.0 ICS Coby Tablet Issue!!! HELP!!!

So yesterday i received a gift of the the brand new Coby Kyros MID9742-8, which I was shocked to see came stock with ICS... Just like many other Kyros tablets though it doesnt have access to the google market (google play).. So I downloaded a google play.apk and installed it... But everytime i click the app it opens and closes automatically... Then i read to delete that apk and install the google services framework first.. then reinstall the vending apk (google play apk).. I found a google serivces apk but everytime i try installing it, it says installation fails... Any ideas XDA... Becuz I really want android market, this Get Jar market it came with sucks...
same problem
I have the same problem would use cm 7 but that would be downgrading so I'm just patiently waiting for a reply
APPS
Goto 1mobile.com and download the app and install. I have been able to get the google play apps I want there. Also, you can get apps for the Amazon Store, just have the app emailed to your tablet.
Ok I've did the amazon store thing which works good. But I also now found another way which works good if u have a existing android phone... just download "app backup and restore" to ur phone... then download what ever apps u want to ur phone... then on ur phone back up the apps u want to transfer to ur tablet. Then plug ur phone and tablet into ur pc.. next find the app backup and restore folder on ur phone then just copy the apks to ur tablet. Then go to file explorer app on ur tablet and find the apks then install them... I put instagram, chase mobile, temple run, and a bunch of other apps from the google market on my coby tablet this way and it works...... my new problem is getting flash to work on it now... any suggestions
Root the sucker
I just found instructions here...I'll let you know how it goes.

No luck with those, I'm getting hung up on Step 7. Trying the amazon store work around.
saving same problem, getting hung up on #7
i've tried all the past versions of superoneclick since 2.2. can anyone help?
I get the apps from 1mobile (which seems to have more of what i need than amazon) but most of them quit because i dont have a google account, I tried to in the options but I can't seem to find a way. I'd really like to get gmail and google music in here and synced up.
Any updates to this? I picked up one of these, and I have do the backup/restore option to get most of my files on it. But still would like to see some sort of rooted/rom for this thing.

[Q] apk from android market

hello i downloaded some free apps from the market with a friends rooted phone and backed them up using systemapp remover. i then mailed the apks to my mail address and downloaded them on my tab (which does not have access to the market), i then tried to install them everything looked alright but then i got the message: application not installed and that was for all three free apps from the market. do i have somehow manipulate them before i can install them? thanks for any tips
Maybe those free apps are not compatible with the tab's kernel?
You already said that you backed up those apps from a phone. Try getting a market app and then download them, they'll work.
Use gapps for gingerbread from the development section, and apply them using recovery.
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using XDA
Your apps might not be compatible with your Tab's Kernel.
I would suggest you to install Vending.apk (PlayStore app) first on your tab with the help of root manager and then see if it works or not or search the apps in tab section (PlayStore), follow the old steps and then see if it works.
Good luck!
Try installing the latest version of gapps

Is the phone you are installing these apps to rooted itself? I've had problems with USENET APK downloads in the past, but after rooting just about everything works. Not sure why though.
Out of curiosity, why not download the free apps directly yourself from the market instead of attemting a direct install?
many thanks to all for the tips. will try them in a few hours when its more quite at work.
the reason i can not install it from the market is that my device is not up to the specifications, its one of those hp zeen thingys, not a great tab at all but nice enough to play around with a bit. however what i will try is to install google play as it might work (the new market) but i doubt it, it had the old vending market on it but i removed since it was not working.
what i did also is that i moved those free market apps with root explorer to the tabs memory and try install it from there but it didn't work.
is it maybe because my device is not 'strong' enough for those apps? its just normal bus and train information apps....
and yes the tab is rooted
