Disclaimer: flashing is a lot more risky than rooting so proceed at your own risk. This has only been tested with the G2x.
This uses the free VirtualBox (from Oracle) and a 900 meg vitrual machine I created to allow flashing recovery (clockworkmod or stock) from a mac. If you run into any problems with the first download link, try the second (it requires free registration).
This will give you a running linux virtual machine that has g2x root/unroot, clockworkmod (and stock) recovery flashing, and the android sdk (including adb) set up. You can root or unroot as well as flash clockworkmod recovery or the stock recovery using some double-clickable scripts. The android sdk is on there too in case you want to play around with adb. The clockworkmod version installed is 3.1.0.1 external with ext4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1086687) but you can download other versions and flash them pretty easily - just check the Readme.txt in the nvflash folder.
The clockworkmod flash here is the mac equivalent of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847 - though this thread just uses a linux virtual machine to get it done.
The username and password on the virtual machine are both "android" (without the quotes of course).
Requirements:
a few gigs of hard disk space
about 300 megs of RAM
intel mac
a sense of adventure
download virtualbox and the extension pack from http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

install the extension pack (just double click it once virtualbox is installed)

decompress the virtual machine download (double click) if it didn't happen automatically
in virtualbox choose Machine -> Add… from the menu bar and choose the android_g2x.vbox file inside the android_g2x folder created by the decompressed virtual machine download
once the vm boots up you'll see the root/untoot and nvflash folders on the desktop with double-clickable scripts inside
After following the requirements above, to connect your phone for flashing with nvflash do the following:
plug the USB cable into your mac
turn the phone off
remove the battery
hold down volume up and volume down then plug the USB cable into the phone
Nothing will happen on the linux vm (unless you ran the tail_kernel_log.sh script in the nvflash folder) but you *should* be able to then run the flash-clockworkmod-recovery.sh script. If it doesn't see your device try disconnecting from USB and doing the steps above again. If you want more visibility into whether or not it's connected then double-click the tail_kernel_log.sh script and watch for a line to appear when you plug your phone in (with volume buttons held down of course).

That's exactly what you should be able to do. If you get it all installed and run the flash-clockworkmod-recovery.sh script successfully then you can do the following.
In preparation, download your ROM of choice to some place on your MicroSD card. If it's cyanogenmod you'll also need to install google apps. If you want to download it to your MicroSD card (gapps) and you'll install it later with clockworkmod. Once this is done back up the stock ROM:
power off the phone
hold down power and volume down until you see Android with a bunch of app icons then release both buttons
when the screen with red text comes up press volume down to scroll to "backup and restore" then hit power button to select
Backup should be highlighted so hit power to select
wait for the backup to complete
Now you should have a folder in /sdcard/_ExternalSD/clockworkmod/backup with a timestamp and the contents of your backup (the path may vary if you're on something other than the stock ROM). At this point you'll want to
navigate to "wipe data/factory reset" and let it complete
navigate to "advanced" => "Wipe Dalvik Cache" and let it complete
finally back to "install zip from sdcard" -> "choose zip from sdcard" and find the zip file with the ROM you downloaded above and install it
if you installed a ROM like cm7 that requires the google apps separately choose "install zip from sdcard" again, "choose zip from sdcard" and find the gapps zip you downloaded and install it
When it finishes you can reboot and setup your new ROM. You can of course backup the new ROM like you did before. At any point you can reboot into recovery (power off then hold power and volume down) and use restore to restore a previous backup.

Yeah, assuming you need to send your current one back you might just wait for the new one. Though you could flash cwm now, backup your stock ROM, flash some new ROMs just for fun then restore the stock ROM and flash the stock recovery before sending it back :-D. This virtual machine also includes my easy root/unroot scripts as well...

yes, the real clockworkmod as described in that thread. it's the external sdcard version of the 3.1.0.1 with ext4 support - though you can download and flash other versions if you want (see the Readme.txt in the nvflash folder)

virtual machine. in this case it's a linux computer that runs in a window on "virtual" hardware. that's what VirtualBox provides - the software to emulate a computer and allow you to run these virtual machines.
i went this route because nvflash is only available for windows or linux machines. a windows vm would not be free but a linux vm is and the nvflash (and root/unroot) tools run quite well on it, in fact arguably better than on windows since you don't need any device drivers

Check the read me file in the g2x folder of the downloaded package. I think all you have to do is put rename the recovery file in the nvflash folder. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think the script is made to flash by name. So as long as you rename the file you want and rename the old file (so it is not flashed) you should be good.

So did it end up working? Normally you need to watch the terminal that opens up and read the text in it. That should tell you when it's done, if it's successful, and what to do when it's finished.
Yes. not sure what happened on the first try, but the second one worked fine. I've backed up my original ROM, and installed CM7. I'm happy...for the moment!

Ok, so I just took the tutorial written by Slimdizzy and have modified it for Windows users, as he stated he was using a Mac, and a lot of people seem to be having issues getting this working. Go easy on me this is my first TUT write up, I hope it helps......If anyone has a correction or a suggestion please let me know.

When I rooted my Telus HTC Desire the first time it was hit and miss, if I remember correctly I did it 3 times until it worked 100%, by this I mean Unrevoked/Root ran without hitch, and after running Unrevoked I was able to reboot into Android, and then reboot back into recovery on my first try without any weirdness.....
The following steps are what I did to get my drivers installed and working the first time, rooting the phone, installing Radio 5.09.00.20, and getting a custom ROM installed (I used OpenDesire)
First things first you need the drivers, this is the most important part. Nothing will ever work for you if you don't have the right drivers installed.
Drivers:
1. Download the Android SDK here: http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r06-windows.zip
2. Unzip and place the files in C:\Android. You can place the files wherever you want but my steps will use this location.
3. Run SDK Setup.exe , if you get the Failed to fetch URL error, hit close and then go to Settings and enable Force https://. Then click on Available Packages, near the bottom you will see USB Driver Package, place a check mark beside it and then click Install Selected.
Alternatively you can try using these drivers, they have worked for other users but I have not installed my drivers using this method so I can't say how well they will work.....

4. Android SDK will download your drivers and place them here C:\android\usb_driver.
Now plugin your Desire with USB Debugging enabled (Settings --> Applications --> Development). Windows will prompt you for the device drivers, point windows to the C:\android\usb_driver folder and it should do it's thing. YOU MUST BE SURE TO INSTALL THE ADB DRIVERS, without those Unrevoked will not run.
5. Once all your drivers are installed, you can verify them by checking with the Android SDK
Open a DOS prompt (CMD in the Run box) and navigate to C:\android\tools and then type "adb devices", it should return a funny device name/ID, if you see a device listed then you are good to go, if you don't then repeat these steps until you do, check your Device Manager for an uninstalled device/driver.
***UPDATED***
Steps for Rooting:
***Follow these steps after you are 100% sure you have the drivers right!***
***DO NOT plug you Desire into your computer yet***
1. Goto http://unrevoked.com and download the software
2. You now have a choice of recovery, Amon RA has released an SLCD version of his recovery, which in my opinion is much better, it has a few more features than Clockwork. I recommend Amon RA, but the choice is yours.

3. Go to HBOOT, this is done by shutting down your phone and powering on the device while holding the Power button down and pushing Volume down at the same time, once HBOOT is loaded do a wipe (Clear Storage). You can navigate the menus by using the volume rocker and the Power button to select your option.
4. Load Unrevoked and load the custom SLCD recovery file on your PC:
Goto File>Custom Recovery and point it to the recovery image that you downloaded in step 2.
5. Restart your phone, it will take a few minutes because you did a wipe, just wait it will load (up to 5 minutes). As soon as the welcome screen loads plug your phone in to the PC and Unrevoked should do it's thing. If Unrevoked doesn't start, then hit the Menu button go to Settings --> Applications --> Development and enable USB debugging.
6. The phone will restart a couple of times, and will look like it's hanging on the HTC screen but it's not! If the HTC screen is present for more than 5 minutes pull your battery and start again ( I had to do this a couple times myself). If Unrevoked pauses half way through its process, it could be because for some reason you don't have the proper drivers installed. You can load them as Unrevoked does the root process, while the phone is rebooting if Unrevoked pauses and Windows prompts you for a driver point it to the C:\android\tools directory and it will load the drivers and Unrevoked will continue its root process.
7. When Unrevoked is finished you will be left at the recovery screen,
8. *** VERY IMPORTANT*** Before restarting do a "wipe cache partition", "factory reset". And now would be a good time for a Nandroid Backup
9. Now reboot, and Android should load. Check for Superuser Permissions app, if you see it you're good if not restart from step 3.
10. Shutdown and load HBOOT, wait a few seconds for SD card (you'll see something try to load quickly), then load recovery again, it should load everytime without issue now.
It may take a few tries, but just follow these steps and it will work.
Steps for flashing radio, and custom ROM:
1. Grab a custom ROM from the forum, I used OpenDesire: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712615
OpenDesire comes with a nice reboot to Recovery feature built in.
2. Once zip is download, copy it to your SD card
3. Get the updated radio needed from here: http://www.mightyrom.com/mrx/MRX/Bravo/Radio/Signed/32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2.zip
4. Reboot into recovery by powering on the device while holding the Power button down and pushing Volume down at the same time. Select Recovery with the Volume rocker and then click the power button to launch it.
5. Select "install zip from SD card" using the trackpad and select the radio zip that you download in step 3.
6. Let it do its thing (could take up to 10 mins to finish), use the back button to get to main menu and select "reboot system now" with the trackpad. If your phone hangs after rebooting wait at least 10 minutes before pulling the battery, it could be finishing the radio update.
7. Once rebooted check that the new radio is good by loading HBOOT (you should know how to do this by now) and at the top it will show you're radio version.
8. Load recovery again and select "wipe cache partition", "factory reset" (for the 3rd and final time). Then select "install zip from SD card" using the trackpad and select the ROM zip that you download in step 1.
9. The new ROM is now installed, restart the phone and wait up to 20 minutes (it shouldn't take that long) for the new ROM to load, DO NOT PULL YOUR BATTERY UNTIL AT LEAST 20 MINUTES HAVE PASSED.
You should now have your phone rooted, new radio installed, and a new custom ROM loaded.
Sorry for such a long post, but I found all these steps necessary to get the end result.
If I have missed anything or if anyone has comments / corrections post them here and I will try to keep the tutorial updated and easy to use as possible.

Those unrevoked drivers worked great for me, I followed the instructions in the HTML doc that came with the zip. I have heard there are extra drivers needed for windows 7, and you have to be sure your running unrevoked as an admin.
Once I was rooted, I used RomManager to get the newest clockwork and flashed it. I used rom manager to flash the rom, HBoot to flash the radio, and did it backwards. Seems to not make a difference.

I believe this is misinformation.. only reason because I was having that endless HTC frozen screen so I formated my SD card, the FAT32 partition and the EXT3 partition in windows using Paragon Partition Manager, finally got back into recovery, wiped everything from cache to davlik cache as well.. then installed my rom.
If Clockwork was stored on the SD card.. I believe it wouldn't have booted.. got a little confused there. However, the Nandroid backups are stored on the SD card.. that I know for sure!

These devices make no sense to me. Maybe I didn't help anything with the copy and just trying to boot a few times would work. I would expect things to work or not work, but they work intermittently some times. Certainly increases the confusion/frustration levels.
Wouldnt be using the latest radio and using "recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-bravo.img" instead of the old one be better?

What is EXT3 partition ?
I would like to get more details about the sdcard ? I make my backup with nandroid and after I format the sdcard....so if I want restore the back up from Nandroid, it will not be there....sorry for the noob questions

Ext3 partition is for A2SD, I never touched my SD Card until I was rooted, updated radio, and loaded a custom ROM. I can't say whether or not the SD card plays a role in freezing during boot to recovery or not? But like I said I never partitioned my SD until after everything was done.....

Fool proof way to install 4349:
The reason there are so many steps is that they are broken down so that each step is basically one menu action. Follow EVERY step. Yes there are easier ways, this way ensures that your tablet is absolutly stock and wiped of all traces of other roms.
What you need:
1. A g Tablet with CWM 0.8 recovery (doesn't matter what ROM)
2. A stock 3588 image renamed to 'stock3588update.zip' (http://tapntap.http.internapcdn.net/tapntap/viewsonic/update-smb_a1002-3588-user.zip)
3. A stock 4349 image renamed to 'update.zip' (http://tapntap.http.internapcdn.net/tapntap/viewsonic/update-smb_a1002-4349-user.zip)
4. A folder called recovery with a file in it called COMMAND inside it with the following line of text:

4. Calkulin's Format_all.zip (attached here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11946224&postcount=1)
Step 1: Ensure there is nothing on your g tablet you want. NOTHING!
Step 2: Boot to CWM recovery with Pwr and Vol+
Step 3: Go to the "mounts and storage" menu
Step 4: Choose "mount USB storage"
Step 5: Confirm there is nothing you want to save on your SD card. If there is anything you want, save it now.
Step 6: "Unmount" and go back to the main CWM Recover Menu
Step 7: Choose "advanced"
Step 8: Choose "Partition SD Card"
Step 9: Choose 2048M for Ext size
Step 10: Choose 0M for swap size
Step 11: Watch it Partioning SD Card, then when complete once again mount USB storage as in steps 3/4
Step 12: Load onto the SD Card: Calkulin's_FORMAT_ALL.zip, stock3588update.zip, update.zip (this is the 4349 file), the recovery folder with the command file inside it. Your Sdcard should look like the attached screen grab.
Step 13: Unmount and return to main menu of CWM.
Step 14: Choose "install zip from sdcard" then "choose zip from sdcard" and select "Calkulin's_FORMAT_ALL.zip"
Step 15: Proceed with the install, once finish select "choose zip from sdcard" and select "stock3588update.zip"
Step 16: Once it completes, go to the CWM recovery main menu then power off with the power button.
Step 17: Boot up into recovery with PWR and Vol+. This will initiate the 4349 install using the stock recovery.
Step 18: Watch your tablet boot into a bone stock 4349 rom.
An optional starting point for this is to use nvflash (back to stock recovery or CWM recovery) to repartition everything first to make fully sure all partitions are as they should be.
Nice! Well laid out with clear steps. I 100% agree that the cleaner your device is, the more likely that the 4349 upgrade will succeed. On clean 3588 stock, I've had about a 90% success rate, at least (but I have had a few soft-bricks too).
Going to work on 3588 nvflash today - need to test it out as I think we all really need it, at this point.
Just one question for clairifacation.. on the command line of text. Should it have the have the apostrophy and the beginning and end or not?

Just to post a bit of an update:
It is pretty easy to get rooted with z4root. The permanent option works. Also, installing the amazon marketplace was no problem. I actually like this setup better than google market because it stores all the free apps you download as well as the paid ones.
Additionally, the google apps (download from here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version#Google_Apps get the ones for tegra on CM6) from CM6 were easy to install with the standard recovery. Looks like this latest stock version is pretty decent overall.

The biggest problem with the Amazon Appstore for Android is that it has far, far fewer apps than the Google Android Market. A large majority of the applications that I require (indeed, what I bought the tablet to run in the first place) are only available through the Google Android Market.
Followed step by step and everything seemed to go well until I tried to restart after the upgrade....nothing but a black back-lit screen. Tried resetting/factory reset, tried clearing cache, nothing. Had to NVFlash back to 3588 and tried to see if there was an OTA update but it says I am up to date with 3588. Then tried to manually install the 4349 update.zip which appeared to go through but again, same black screen afterwards. Very frustrating.

Sounds like you were stuck in apx mode. Lucky you were able to boot at all!

Could be, but I don't think so. I got through the 3 birds screen then the g-tablet screen before it went black so I don't think I was in apx. I guess I will just wait until VS pushes the OTA Update again.

Boot animation is still stored in the same place (system/media) so existing methods for changing it should work fine.

Many people have been wanting to flash the HC rom, and this is the best guide I've found (used it myself) to safely, and efficiently get to the 1.2 bootloader and stock recovery in update 4349.
It does not instruct anyone, or link to Roms on other forums, just provides them with the information to reach a foundation to where they can use 1.2 based bootloader roms. We can't ignore that it's an important catagory of users.

At that time this was a good way to do it. Now, you can NVFLASH 4349 in a few minutes. Then when you reboot wipe data/cache.

regardless, there isn't a stickied guide on safely getting to 1.2 from out of the box setup...this is the most comprehensive one I've found for a brand new user that doesn't have any experience with nvflash (I still don't) or even flashing a rom. I've answered 2 questions today from people that basically just opened the box and were wondering how to get to 1.2 from stock. or wanted a link to a stock rom/recovery image. I haven't found any other posts that have a stock 3588 or stock 4349 files link in it. This post does, without even going into the roms available for the 1.2 bootloader.

I'd like ot bump this, and request again, that this post be stickied. More and more people are having issues when flashign from 1.1 to 1.2 roms, and THIS GUIDE is the SAFEST and MOST COMPREHENSIVE guide on how to go from 1.1 to 1.2.
Yes, it may be quicker to NVFlash as much as you possibly want, but I'll bet that if you found every post about a softbricked G-Tablet, the user was trying to NVFlash something...
It seems to me at this point, that developers are NVFlashing everything nowadays..that's fine, becuase most of them know how ot recover from it. Typical USERS, though, do not, and end up making their situation worse. WE NEED TO PREVENT PROBLEMS, so using standard recoveries, or CWM over NVFlash is the safest way to do it. I have no problem learning NVFlash to recover from a softbrick, but I'll be damned if learning it and using it CAUSES a softbrick becuase I have no idea what I'm doing.
PLEASE Sticky this thread, and clean up some other stickies that are no longer needed. For instance, Jerdog's "One and only Honeycomb" thread...not necessary anymore, since the reality he predicted wouldn't happen, has.

You might have a copy of the recovery folder with command file on your pc where you unzipped the cwmod_internal.zip unless you moved it to your G Tablet instead of copying. You could always unzip the cwmod_internal.zip file again to pull the recovery folder from it. Anyway, to answer your question...
To create a file just open the recovery folder you just created then right-click > new > text document. Put the code "--update_package=SDCARD:/update.zip" without the quotes & save the document as command. It shouldn't have a file extension like command.txt just command only.

I still do it the old fashioned way. I'm already unlocked so I just flash the boot image. With a clean system partition, you need to push a few drivers (.ko files) on plus "su" and the Superuser.apk. Superuser and su work together. And finally you need to create a new folder so that your real sdcard can be mounted. I think they changed the name from "sdcard2" to something new in 1.4.0.
Not exactly step by step but you can see which instructions that mirrors most.
New instructions involve CWM which I have not installed yet. I like to know what's done step by step as I have a Canadian system.img. I don't want that flashed over.
you could use the "one click" method found in the dev section. its really like a one click at a time, but goes slow so you can read and see what's going on. if your not comfy with adb I would suggest this method. then update the kernel with the kernel manager app.

I don't trust the "one click" methods. Me, I need to know how every part works together and what every step does. I'm more comfortable with using adb and fastboot manually than I am with someone's idea of user friendly. I'm also the kind of guy that would fix his own car rather than have a mechanic fix it for free.
I should take a look at it. The way you describe it, it almost sounds like a batch file.
Also, when I understand what's going on, I can apply the steps in different situations. For example, most of the instructions here are for a PC but I can do exactly the same things with my Mac Mini when my PC isn't convenient.
OK, let me propose one of the root method which is not required to flash any boot image but is required to flash ClockworkMod Recovery and to use the recovery for rooting.
Such method (i.e. using custom recovery) may work not only on WiFi US model (which I have), but also on other models (Verizon, WiFi Europe etc). But I tested it on WiFi US.
So the step by step are:
1. Install ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.5 as described here:

This actualy means that you need to unclock bootloader and flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
2. Download attached Root_Xoom.zip file and put it on SD card
3. Insert SD card into Xoom

6. Reboot Xoom
Hope you will have Root after that.

This is for rooting only (as OP requested). It is just to push su binary and superuser.apk into system partition. Nothing else.
after that, get kernel manager and install 1.3.2 for oc, sdcard etc.... 1.4.0 isn't stable is it?
Yes, if you need oc, sdcard etc..., you can flash the kernel you like. It can be done after or before kernel flashing.

This is going to be my first android and i would appreciate it if someone could link me to some sort of reference and tutorial for the installation of Hellfire Phoenix.
I've searched and google, but i had no luck. If you guys know if a detailed tutorial is out there, then just tell me and i'll put more effort into finding my answer. Thank you very much.

What it means is don't boot into CWM and mount usb storage and copy files to sd card from there because it is known to corrupt the file and then could end up in a bad flash and it could harm ur phone.
When ur gonna copy the rom ur gonna flash to ur sd card, make sure ur booted into android first and mount usb storage from there.

Now, to fully answer your question:
Ok, adding this in after I wrote this to make things clearer: before starting make sure you:
1. Have G2x scrubber in the root of your SD card
2. Have the zip for your ROM (HFP in this case) in the root of your SD card
3. Have a copy of gapps (Google Apps) in the root of your sd card, get it here
4. After flashing CWM make a back-up (nandroid) of your stock ROM via CWM
First you need to flash Clockwork Mod (CWM) on your phone go here for that:

Also, note: NEVER use ROM manager to flash CWM.
Second grab G2x scrubber from the HFP thread.
Next boot into CWM by holding volume down and power at the same time as the phone starts up. I find it helpful to count to three (eg, one one thousand, two one thousand, etc) after the blue and white (as opposed to plain white) LG logo first appears, that way you will have your finger off the power button when CWM starts. And in case it needs to be explained: you navigate CWM via the volume keys and make selections with the power button.
So, having downloaded G2x scrubber to your phone, go to "install zip from SD card" then "choose zip from SDcard" and navigate to G2x scrubber, run it twice.
Once that is done, use the same install zip option and this time choose the HFP zip.
Next select the gapps zip and flash it.
You're all done. Reboot and enjoy.

No, just use NVFlasher to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery, then flash your rom. You'll be rooted when you finish.
I found good guides on TheUnlockr. There are links in the thread discussing Hellfire Sandwich (HFS). If you don't need wifi calling or the ability to take video I would recommend using HFS v1.2. It is an update to ICS (Android 4.0.x) but it is not completely stable yet.

Hi people. Ive just bricked my Relay by installing Chainfire3D(dont laugh at me I know im stupid)))). So can anyone do a backup the system by Recovery mode and send me to my email [email protected] or attach it here, I will put it in my SD and do a restore from recovery mode(i didnt brick it fully, I guess its called softbrick).

Just flash a new ROM in recovery, or if you plan to just do a restore of a system partition you would need to give out more information as to flash the correct one as each ROM will have a different system partition

To install I need to know a couple of things, are you using a computer with Windows? Also do you have a custom recovery on your phone? Hold onto the Volume up key+Home+Power, when it vibrates and shows "Recovery Mode" in little blue letters on the screen let go of the buttons and it will boot into recovery mode. If it looks like the picture here [cdn.droidviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/android-recovery-on-galaxy-s3.jpg], this is stock recovery. If it has "ClockworkMod Recovery" you are off to a good start. Let me what you have.

So my computer runs Windows Vista and i have ClockworkMod Recovery. At the bottom in the Recovery mode it says CWM- based Recovery v6.0.1.2

So to get back to stock, on your recovery there should be an option to sideload a file using ADB. Your going to have to use these instructions to get ADB onto your Windows install.
1. Make sure Java is installed on your system go to.....www.java.com/ and install their version, and restart computer if necessary.
2. Then go to http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html to download the SDK for android allowing use of ADB. You will need to extract this folder to your C: drive. 1-Create a folder on the root of your C: called Android, then unpack the SDK you downloaded into this folder, and open up sdkmanager.exe and install updates and packages. The main one you want is called "platform-tools" which holds the ADB.exe file you will need.
2.A) Make sure you clear/format your cache/dalvik cache/ and data before you flash the zip in the instructions below.
3. Now connect your phone to your computer via usb, and boot into recovery, you will need to choose install zip/sideload with adb (these are generic instructions since I have a different recovery than you.
4. Now it will be waiting for the program you just installed to "push" the zip to your phone. So go to the Start menu, and type in the search box cmd and hit enter.
5. Now type in "CD C:\Android\(**whatever SDK file you have**)\platform-tools\" and hit enter. When typing you can hit the TAB key to autocomplete the folder name. Now your directory should of changed, and you should be able to type "adb sideload (you will need to type in the full path of the file where you stored the Stock JB image at (the one I emailed you). and hit enter. Once it sideloads you should be able to reboot and it will bootup regularly, after this I would suggest flashing philz touch recovery which has a few more features.

605 MB I should have said......what I meant was that in your first reply you told to install rom and then flash recovery and I dont think all that is done by only these 5 steps

Since you have ClockworkMod you won't be needing the "stock-recovery.zip" I sent you. You will only need the "JB-stock-system.zip". Now when the drivers install make a checklist and make sure you have Java installed...and then the Android SDK. It really is a 3 step process, but since you soft-bricked your phone you can't simply copy the stock-system.zip to your sdcard and flash that in recovery. You will need adb to communicate with your phone while in recovery.

Naah thanks its fine, the computer's too old and tries to find some sort of update every single time I plug my phone in and takes hours to just say that the drivers are ip to date and im good to go, before all that ipdate stuff it doesnt let you to use the phone......well thats what you get from (at least) 6 year old Vaio Sony laptop))))

This isn't probably the best thread to suggest this, but I recommend you look into a linux distro to install on your laptop. Before I had my current one, I was on a 7 year old HP compaq, and I put Lubuntu on it, and made it pretty much brand new. The only thing is getting used to the Linux filesystem,and commandline. Might take a few weeks of using it, but it really helped me out when XP was terribly slow. It also installs ADB and can interface with android phone. Maybe try a liveUSB so you don't have to install it.

Thanks for advice... I guess I'll be getting a brand new computer in two months so and I was thinking of what I should do with this one, now I know)))), thanks....Can you believe it still tries to find and update something, I mean its horribly slow......anyway so one question just arose, if luckily, hopfully I get my phone back will it be still rooted or will I have to root it???

With the stock I gave you, you will not be rooted, it will appear as if you just turned it on for the first time, if you want to be root and use Cyanogenmod, I suggest instead of sideloading the image I gave you, go here and download this and sideload this rom (this is stable 10.2)

Ok so if I download this and lets say put this zip in c:\Android what command should I run in cmd???
