XDA App - Enhancement/s ideas??? - General Questions and Answers

Hi All,
I've been quite closely following Alterbridge and his Overcome GB custom rom, and since i travel around alot, its been so worth my while following it through the XDA app.
The app itself is clean, no extra fuss, and gives exactly what you ask for. What i'm driving at here is, do you feel its missing anything? Maybe we can get the developer to join us and see if they like our ideas and possibly add them to the app.
i'll go first - i think the option to THANK someone in the forums, if they helped you in any way could possibly be added to the menu (for me in android, its long-pressing menu drop-down on a specific post )

The app itself is VERY similar to Tapatalk but its missing one of my must-have features. I would love there to be a "dark" theme that uses white text and a black background instead of black text and a white background. Just something to think about.

xda app
i still can't figure out how to post with it

Search function, being able to see the smileys instead of text wrapped in colons, ability to re-arrange the order of the favorites list, and the ability to attach files other than images.
I use the XDA app alot, probably more than I visit XDA on my PC, so I guess the little things that the tapatalk app don't do tend to bug me a little after awhile lol.

There is an option to use different themes. Press menu/more/settings/display style. And you want the simple theme.

Apps in theme white on black

First of all thanks to everyone here for being so helpful.
I'm trying to put together a list of applications which have themes that allow one to have a completely black background with white font.My view is that this would be fundamental in saving battery power.
Applications I use that have this facility are: Profimail, Newsroom.
I would like to do the same for HtmlViewer,Skyfire,Imo.im.
I am quite happy navigating with no images in at least one of my net browsers.
Excuse this long post

BTW, this is on SGS with 2.2.1 Android,Sconcau ROM, speedmod kernel k13a, XJPA

I am also using the theme with black background with white font.
It is great , as it is really save power, it is especially usefull for my sony X10.
Great. This is my opinion too. The more applications I use which put white print on black background, the longer the battery will last.
One other app I use that has a "night" setting is the tritone reader, for e-books, though I would very much like to view these forums in some kind of night mode, as well as browsing the net in white on black

You can add Due Today (a todo/project manager) to that list. I chose that theme for the very reason you're looking for.
Thanks,I will indeed add that to the list

Thanks for the tip, Chmckay, that is one really good application

You're welcome. Just wait until 1.3. It gets much better
Handcent can replace the messaging app and it allows you to set your own colors for the app as well. I actually use it right now with white text on a black background.
K9 Mail allows you to have an app for your email with a black background.

[Q] Simple Text Box Widget?

Does anyone know of a simple "text box" widget that allows you to post a word or two, similar to minimalistic text but instead of the time, just whatever you want.

Minimalistic Text has a static text option if you make a custom layout and look under misc.

Quick question...

Can someone go into there gallery put it in landscape mode and find a pick with a grey or light background, and scroll the picture towards the side were status bar would be and tell me if u can see a faint color were it would be,am wondering if its screen burn in or something I don't know....

Future reference, please make a relevant title to any post you make. No one knows at a glance what "Quick question..." is about. This reduces the number of people who know what they're talking about(who usually avoid these types of threads based on title alone), which makes it considerably more difficult for you to get an answer.
That being said, I have no idea what your initial and follow up questions are even about.

Yes of course!
Ok, here is my report, takes a very long time to load the page. I could say the interface can be a little better like maybe add some words on the buttom. Side to side doesn't seem to work for me, maybe it was the website I was on.
Not bashing the widget, just want to provide constructive criticism based on my opinion. If the speed of the browser would be faster, it would be perfect. Also Idk if u could, can u select more then on place on the website to create a widget for? I didn't know how if u could
Edit: leaving 5 star feedback because I am sure u can fix everything in the future, thanks for ur hard work

There isnt much to be done about the browser im afraid. Re the interface, it will definitely be adjusted in futuer updates. Re multiple elements no this isnt possible its just a limitation of the os. Re arrows - they are contextual and are actually more like "expand left" rather than move left.
The widget constructor will be out tomorrow!
Widget Maker is out, you can find it here:

I'm using a custom ICS rom - Eaglesblood on my T-Mobile G2x.
When I attempt to place the widget on an open home page, I get the "type in a page url" screen that disappears after 10 seconds. Doesn't allow me to enter a web page. It then attempts to go back to the home screen but it freezes in doing so, leaving a "frame" where the widget would have been. After a minute or so all is normal again.

This is the first ive heard of something like this. After entering a url, did you press the "play" button to the right of the address bar?

If u don't mind suggestions, I would like to say advertsise the widget and maybe people might be wanting to purchase the app. I don't think many people know about this and it can be useful. If ur lazy like me. It can be a little hassle to set up though but thats it.

Looked all over for a home screen apps sorter

Ok guys I've looked everywhere but found nothing. I am looking for an app that simply sorts home screens apps in some order. I don't want one that makes folders. I want to just be able to use the app to sort every now and then and just close it afterwards. Thanks

I am confused I guess. I don't understand exactly what you are looking for. You want an app to organize your apps on your home screen? Can't you just just organize them how you want them on your home screen? Maybe I don't understand exactly what you are looking for.

I'm lost in your question? Srry

Action Launcher gives an alphabetical list similar to windows phone.
If I understand correctly, you want an equivelant to the windows shortcut for "sort by name/type/date modified" for your homescreen, or for your appdrawer.
I echo the thoughts of others in asking why. It's not like your homescreen can accumulate dozens of apps the same way a desktop can pick up dozens of shortcuts, or that they are difficult to get rid of or sort yourself. Folders work fine... also, there are widgets such as Glovebox and CircleLauncher which will allow you to create live groups of self-hiding icons.
but Android is an open OS, so the simple answer is, if there's something you want that doesn't exist, just build it yourself. this, however, seems to be something that would be at the launcher level, not the level of a widget or app.
Exactly. But for people like me who hate using app drawer I think there should be some kind of stock setting
