[MOD] Binary battery display - T-Mobile LG G2x

Just finished this a few hours ago, and may be moving the decimal display a little for aesthetic reasons... But battery display is based on binary, read from bottom right to left top. Built using the apk from EB v1.04 Froyo, so I know it works with that rom. I may also remake the indicator with 3D spheres for a more high end look... the images have a transparent background, so on the black status bar of EB it looks nice (screenshots in a few)
apk is put into a 7z so it will upload here rather than putting it on MU or something.
Let me know what you think. And as always be sure to backup before using - just because I didn't have any issues doesn't mean you won't.
framework-res.apk is here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YQVDW6OS
--Added an image of the different colors in 3D that will be used. This will be a slow going change since I'm using my original and there hasn't been much of an interest (it seems). But once finished it will be put up for those that may want it.

Cool dude nice work. Never seen this type of battier mod, good job keeping things new.

Thanks. This weekend I'll do a 3D sphere and text version.

[THEME & ROM] CM6 R8zerMOD-V1- Desire Theme Nightly ALSO with MORPH!

I decided to do my own based off of JD's and Original Android <3ers! , also credit to tr.slate for the blue androids for when connecting to pc.
Anyone who wants to mod the file please do, any enhancements you want to add please do.
this is the Desire theme, just with tr.slate's androids, hope you all like it, and give a big cheer for these guys.
the background is not part of the theme thats a ADW launcher theme from the market called iDroids.
by the way you will still have to change to white as in the old JD theme, and you FLASH this Via Amon_RA 1.7.0.1 or clockwork (not tried this one).
Right i have also made a MORPH if anyone wishes to try it, REMEMBER do NANDROID first i am not in any way held responsible for any damages or loses.
USE of this theme is solely upon you.
right desiretheme white is with the car nav notification white, it is not great but im not a graphics designer, also have change sms and mms notifications smily face to green. and also the gmail notification is now a little symbol of the gmail icon.
number on the end of the file relate to the number on CM nightly's.
RIGHT I NOW HAVE COMPILED A ROM FROM CYANOGENMOD SOURCE
* Now this is Cyan's Work i take no credit what so ever,
In this rom you will find it is a 6.1 CM release with some added features.
* Added Dark Tremors A2SD Script
*Added Desire Theme - for those who want it
*Edited some Gmail, MMS, And settings icons.
TO BE ADDED
* I want to add IntersectRavens Kernel from the start.
(will be avaliable soon) - Testing!!!

DesireTheme(612).zip (i.e. not morph) on a cm6 nightly from yesterday. Took awhile to track down all the places you have to manually change notification text colors, but well worth it.
cool, glad it worked.
Morph didn't work on 055406. It applies ok, but nothing is changed after a reboot.
Ok will have to look into that.
Can I ask what version of metamorph you are using.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
ok, uploaded a changed morph. let me know if this works. i had a .thm file and .xml file in there, dunno if thats causing the prob, i have removed the .thm file and left the xml file. see if this works.
It works now. Turns out TiBackup did not restore the market link for MM so there was an update I could not see. Thanks for this man, it looks good.
cool, glad it worked.
I noticed that the "car home" icon that shows up in the status bar when using the car dock is still the default black icon (on the now black status bar). What're the chances of getting a reverse car dock status bar icon in some future update?
i will look into that

[MORPH] HDPI Battery Morph: Dots and Arrows & Arrows Only [updated 8-26-10]

Here's another battery morph, because I know you guys like your custom batteries. Plus being one of the only animated icons, they are fairly fun to work on.
This Morph converts your current battery icon to a series of six dots. As the dots drain, empty dots replace them. When you plug in to charge up, behold–it turns into a series of arrows! wow, hahaha. (idk, i like it...)
This probably wont work with the percentage overlays, as the icons are pretty complex, and dont really facilitate great legibility of the percentages. But one can only do so many circle and square batteries, so I'm branching out to do other ideas and shapes.
Standard disclaimer: Do a nandroid BU before you flash this. I have no idea whats on your system, or what may cause it to break, therefore you flash this at your own risk, as with pretty much every morph.
If you are experiencing issues with metamorph hanging while trying to install, make sure you have usb debugging turned on in your system settings. yes, you really need to do this. go to settings-->applications-->development-->make sure usb debugging is checked!
If that doesnt work check this list made by morpher Formel-LMS. Must be that German efficiency...
1. Have you downloaded the correct files for your ROM?
2. Have you debugging enabled in the Android Menu?
3. Install "Titanium Backup" start it and hit the "Problems?" Button, then it installs a correct busybox version. This is required!!!
4. In Metamorph, press Menu, play with the applying speed. Choose a speed above 4200!
5. Never check the "Disable startup checks" in Metamorphs settings
6. Never, never, never rename the zipfile. If you do this, you'll get error messages like "Theme Control File Missing"

Do you have usb debugging enabled? Its been in the op in red since I posted, but I cranked the text size up so no one will miss it again. If that isn't it, you prob need to do a full data/cache wipe, including dalvik cache and reinstall your rom. If you are running a rare/uncommon rom, i suppose the pathways could be incorrect, but I have yet to encounter that issue. If so let me know what rom it is, and ill take a look at the pathway and repackage it for that particular rom if thats the issue. But try the other stuff first.

Sorry, but there isnt really anything else I can do to make it compatible for you. There is nothing in the zip that could cause any of that stuff to happen honestly. Its just a zipped folder with some images and xml telling the images where to go in your system.
I would think that if it worked before you themed, but then your phone went crazy after you themed, that there may be an issue with the theme or the way you applied the theme or something else.
That's why I dont create themes though, too much room for something to go wrong. Morphs are much lighter, more stable in my experiences, and easier to apply. But that's just my two cents.

Modding Revolution from RetroKid for Mesmerize

Hi All,
I've been trying to figure out how to theme by taking a theme apart and then comparing stuff to my phone. I got "most" of the Revolution Theme working properly on my Mez. It was taken from the Fascinate Theme Thread...
The only thing that I've found that has a force close is trying to go into sound settings...
Anyone know where that file is in the theme pack that I need to change?
I've attached a screen shot for your review of what it looks like.
OK, I got it working. I had to pull out my Settings.apk, make the changes to it and then put it back into the package. Seems to be working well now.
The only thing that hasn't changed that I want to change is the lock screen. Anyone know what files specifically need to be modded to change that?
Anyone interested in trying it out? Remember to do a backup before giving this a try!
I'm running SuperClean .2 with a voodoo kernel as a reference point
Put it on the root of your SDcard and then boot into clockwork and choose install Retrokid_Revolution_DJ05_V3.6.mez.zip.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1429928/Retrokid_Revolution_DJ05_V3.6.mez.zip
I'll give it a go.
As a point of reference:
Variant of the voodoo kernal
Pick-n-Pack rom
Hope you like it. I have to figure out how to fix the lock screen though.

I'll be looking at it too, as this goes along with what I'm doing while I'm on vacation anyway. I am not 100% sure, but I think the lock screen and a few other things that you are going to want, are going to be in the framework.res.
Another note, this uses aosp mms.apk which has a problem still with sending and receiving picture messages.
I got it installed. (Sorry it took so long, I didn't realize I was at 3% battery when I posted)
Installed with no issues, however I'm getting a big difference in the battery meter. My widget says 65%, the rpm battery gauge says 80%.
Also, it reinstalled Mail, which I had taken off in the Pick-n-Pack. Was that in the zip?
Yes, mail was included as one if the customized apps. Hmmm, you didn't want mail? Not sure how to remove that. Do you liked it? I live the font and different icon scheme.
The mms its a problem but I was going that once it got fixed that I'd be able to update it.

Just as a thought, you might want to change the name slightly. The DJ05 part of the name has to do with the release version. The Mesmerize is currently on DI14. Nothing critical right now, just confusing if and when we start getting updates and things need to be changed for themes to work with different ROMs.
Great work, btw. Glad to see others are working on stuff for the Mesmerize.
Good point. I'll make the change to the file name.
Thanks!
So, in order to install this all I need to do is flash it in clockworkmod recovery after booting in recovery mode? I almost have this flashing down, but haven't tried a theme yet...
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Yes, make a backup using Clockwork or Rom Manager first, then boot into Clockwork recovery. Scroll to Install from zip. Select "Choose zip" then navigate to it on your SD card. Select it and it will install. Let me know how you like it.
I will for sure, thanks man.

Dude this is awesome! I love the notification bar (transparency, GPS/wifi/etc icons, black, signal & battle icons), and the font, and the way the texting looks (even though I only use Google voice) and the search bar, and stars and checkmarks, and loading icon.
A couple issues I have with it though:
+When you hit the menu button, its impossible to read the black text on the black background the text should be white or grey I think
+ the battery meter isn't very accurate (according to "battery status"). I would love if the battery could be more accurate, because the app I have right now has almost the same icon for telling how full the batt is (only yours looks way cooler, and its on the other side of the notif bar, which I like)
+Then the last thing is this font, which I think there's something I can do to fix. I like the font on my keyboard and in menus and stuff, but I don't really want it on every webpage and text. I use dolphin browser, you know what I could do?
Last thing, is it possible to make Google voice look like the normal texting app, or different in any way? I'm not a huge fan if the way it is now.
Overall I really like it, and I'm keeping it : ) thanks!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Trying this out on my Super Clean .3 rom with voodoo kernel.
Can confirm that this works and is sexy; I agree with the three gripes above though. Can't read the menu buttons, battery isn't perfect, and the font is a bit annoying. If possible the status bar might look a little better with a slight gradient, though that might just be the wallpaper or whatever. Overall, this is a good theme.
-herpderp-
A couple more spots I've noticed the font is a hard color...
-android keyboard, white squares appear above the letters you press with no letters in them.
-on notification bar, most apps have white text and is a bit difficult to read on grey background.
-theres another one that I forgot where now....
And since I flashed this my YouTube isn't working, and I can't download from mediafire.... haha I think that might be a fluke, but Its weird: s

Everything looks GREAT! No offense to AB86 or the Overcome team, but the notification bar on RC1 was not functional. This looks great, and I love the animations! The new clock font for the lockscreen is pretty cool too.
All in all, 9 stars out of 10
Also... since you obviously know the answer to life , the universe and everything("42"), I wont mention what I think would make it a 10/10

Rule #1 of flashing ANYTHING. Nandroid first, flash second.
You need to reflash your stock ROM most likely... Unless you can piece together what changes where made and rewrite your framework.... Yeah, that'd be fun :/ Or if you have a Nandroid, use it... But if it's not recent, you'll loose any changes since the backup.

As for the request (you did say you were open for change). Can we have the notification area clear instead of white grid (hehe reminds me of primary school math notebooks).

I couldn't figure out what in the world was up with the camera. The developer said it worked great on the Supersonic except for the FFC. The CM9.1 I used as a base has an impeccable camera as well as 1080p! That's why I picked out a couple that have used before as add-ons to stand in until I MIGHT come up with something.
Other than that....I'm loving it myself! I'm glad you are too. Wait till she settles in...it looks like it's going to be sweet on battery usage too.:good:
As far as tracking errors go anything else will probably be related to the port. In that case it's probably going to be beyond my ameturish control. LOL

Is this rom really that nice about to flash and run for couple days. See what this chatter is about. Weekend always got something nice.

Interesting....I tried a Gstore 3rd party camera app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.lgCamera ) & it did the same thing...then pulled the camera.apk from the CM10.1 that is my DD ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187130 )...it also did it too
I'm going to think about this one---I really want to like it, but the camera is a deal-breaker for me....back to CM 10.1 Official.....
I'm thinking that it's something in the kernel--3 different camera apps without preview....Hmmmmm....
As for really nice----YES!!!! I ran it for a couple of hours & could only find the camera bug....

I understand how it goes man. BUT....the cameras I put in there: Camera MX & Night Camera were working like gangbusters. At least on mine. With the DoubleShot I KNOW the camera is a huge deal but those are filling in nicely for me.
It's just WAY too powerful a ROM not to put it out there just because the camera we're used to seems to be borked at the time. If you come back to it, try those. Like I said though....I know how it goes.

If you can just get used to the new camera we're not used to seeing, you'll LOVE it. The video even has an option to turn on the LED for night shooting.
That's why I put several out there though. Variety is what makes the world go around.

In my case, the main camera gives me a brief peek at the "viewfinder" image then puts up a black rectangle that covers the entire image. You can clearly see the rectangle's outline a fraction of a second before it covers all the preview area.
The other camera shortcuts just FC, or give me a combo settings screen THEN FCs when camera is chosen.
The only other negative comment I have is that I miss the JB navigation bar. One of our phones has a glitchy BACK button, and Nav Bar compensates for that. (*_-)
Other than that, everything I noticed is good--I'm blown away by this ROM! It's quick, responsive, and smooth.
Thanks, Weekends!
BTW: clean install, several minutes "resting" after flash.

Yeah....in my haste I overlooked carrying some necessary libraries over with those camera apps. You should be able to just go into the market & uninstall/reinstall them and be good to go. OR just use Root Cleaner included in the ROM & then do the Market reinstall. You can also uninstall the main Camera with Root Cleaner. My bad. The Nav Bar just wasn't available in this one & I haven't yet learned how to get it in there. Sorry Jesterfell.

I haven't tried this, yet, but thought I'd share what I found:

You simply need to edit your build.prop and add the line qemu.hw.mainkeys=0. You can use any good editor in Android to do that, or Build.prop Editor.

This is supposed to provide a basic nav bar. It probably does not allow customizing or re-sizing.
I've also seen something like it in one of the MT4GS ROM threads. Wish I could find THAT one now.
I will be trying it, but probably not for a few days. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Don't sweat the cameras. Un-installing & re-installing is not such a big deal.

Well......I HAVE!!! And IT WORKS Jesterfell.....IT WORKS! What a FIND BRO! What I'm going to do for you and anyone else that wants it is post it up in the OP with Instructions. I WISH I had found this when I looked but I just didn't. WAY TO GO!!
Edit: Oh, BTW, it DOES add it into "Settings/System" with all the editing functions there. I just didn't put it thru it's paces is all.
:highfive:
