[Q] Seeing battery usage details? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wondering why this information is not available, is this a Honeycomb 3.0.1 issue or a TF issue?
Will this be available with the upcoming 3.1 update?

It's a TF issue (e.g., the Xoom has the correct info). We can only hope it's fixed in the next update.

i did have the same question, but i guess it has more to do with the fact that transformer has 2 batteries instead of one

I first thought that the problem was the missing dock? Basically the system has to report on 2 batteries. And the OS is customized to expect 2 batteries, but as far as I understand, even when you attach the dock, the result is still the same?
Anyone with a dock, can you confirm?

Only details you will get is when you click on the graph. Let me find the thread where I saw that~!
EDIT: here's the link to the post: Click!

it still does not show a detailed view of each program and process power consumption, like the one you get in gingerbread.

Nope. I never claimed that. On the XOOM you get all these details but ASUS is apparently still working on the implementation.

Can't adjust brightness....

Got my Infinity yesterday - loving it so far. I was worried after all the negativity on the forums over the last few weeks, but I couldn't be happier.
My one issue is with the brightness of the screen. I know some people have taken issue with the auto-dimming feature. I have the complete opposite problem - I can't adjust the brightness of my screen! Moving from balanced to power saving to performance makes no difference. Turning on Super IPS? No difference.
Am I doing something bone-headed? Anyone else have this problem?

Just tried a factory reset - made no difference whatsoever. No matter what setting I choose for screen brightness, it never changes....
Any ideas? Should I just return it?

It appears that there is a issue, if you reset the tablet and its the same you should exchange it. Try the small reset hole also.

No. I can move the slider up and down the scale, but it doesn't have any effect on the brightness. Very strange.

I took this short video to try and better illustrate the problem:

Anyone got any ideas? I can return it to Amazon fairly painlessly, but it's a shame as otherwise it's a great bit of kit.
Grateful for any additional thoughts people might have.

Your issue more than likely will not be solved on the forums anytime soon. Amazon is very good at exchanging defective items usually shipping it the next day. Your stressing over this to much, and you don't have to. It cost you nothing to exchange the tablet.

Same thing
Just wanted to let you know I'm having the same problem. I've tried a factory restore as well still no brightness control. Thing that sucks is I returned my prime for a screen defect, now I get a faulty infinity. I'm beginning to question asus quality at this point and starting to think about perhaps getting a Google nexus 7 even with its limitations.

Isnt Asus building the GN7 also?
Either way, defects will happen. Send it to back and Amazon will make it right -- it's worth the two days. I've had none of the problems that people are describing with their Infinitys
Good point cinco5 ugh. I forgot they manufactured it. They are at 2strikes, I guess I'll give them 3.

Just received my replacement Asus Infinity: They made changes!

The device came pre installed with the. 26 update. The "touch panel version" model number is different! They upgraded it! And wow is it snappier! The serial numbers for the US versions have changed as well. It use to start as C6OKA. Now it's C8OKA. Lastly, the beveled edges around the screen is more uniformed and perfectly symmetrical. No snapping, clicking, or loose glass. I put it side to side and you notice the difference immediately.
I just wish I had the balls to open it up to see if they changed any of the hardware inside. The GUI just has a smoother feel to it. I can't put my finger on it. I'm going to let it charge up and then download my apps. My hope is the I/O has improved as well.

any issues with Google Currents of Google+? If you use them.
Wouldnt get to excited, Ive had 4 replacements so far and 3 were the c80 numbers. Still have light bleed, still have separating glass that also clicks/creeks, still had bad volume rocker.

I have a transformer that was bought first week of august and it has C8OKA as serial number. I dont have any hardware issues, but i do have some lag issues but since i did factory wipe, i had no random reboots
Lag is my only issue
Dont come to xda for english lessons not to mention there is far worse in here. But here is an example of other c80s with problems
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31268115
Just received another by ups at 5:30, light bleed lower left hand side but not terrible, the plastic strip on back not fully attached also not terrible but can feel it when touched and antutu only giving me 12500 scores on performance mode (all previous tf700s got 13500+).
Looks like Ill be making another go of the tf700 lottery game, wish I was as lucky as you.

C8's are August manufactured Transformer Infinity's hence the 8 for August.
C7's were July made, my TFI is a C7.
C6 were June Transformer Infinity's, these were the first month launch Infinity's.
and then there's the C5 rare pre-release Infinity's mostly released to tech reviews, and publishers in May.
C5's were also synonymous with the last batch of Transformer Prime's before ASUS discontinued it. C5's don't have any of the hardware problems the previous TFP's had.
OP, can u post some pics of these new fixes
My unit starts with C70KA and it works great and has from the start. No issues with my unit and it also is very snappy. Looking forward to Jelly Bean though as it will only make my unit better.

Yeah, I would love to see comparison of the physical changes that you mention... I've seen C6's and C8's and never seen any difference (at least physically)...
EDIT: By the way, I just ran an RL Benchmark on both my Infinity (running Zeus 4.0) and my Nexus 7 (running stock) - check this out:
- Nexus 7: 46.202
- Infinity: 20.514
Not sure what exact Zeus is doing but that is awesome! My guess is that he's caching the SQL writes or something like that...

Zeus is using an sql patch that can be found here on xda and i don't know the technical stuff of that patch but let's say that we trade data safety for speed with the patch.

Anyone found a way to display notification area battery remaining as a %?

Would love to be able to do this without a 3rd party app (such as GSam). Any tips would be most appreciated.

Yeah, I've been pretty happy with the features of those ROMs on the phone . However, I understand that the builds aren't quite 'there' yet for the tf700. Using CleanROM atm, which is running like a champ, but could do with a few customisations.

Cheers, Seems pretty similar to GSam Battery monitor which I am using. Would like to minimise 3rd party apps if at all possible though. I don't mind using apps, of course, but if it can be themed into the ROM then would rather not have redundancy.

This one wont shot the percentage in the notification area, but I figured someone might like it.

It will show the power levels for the Pad's battery and the dock's. If you unplug the dock, it will remember the last power level the dock had and show you that percentage, but will let you know they arent connected anymore.

Why is wifi killing my battery

I'm on stock jelly bean and only getting just under 3 hours of screen on time. This is horrible and besides screen drain I'm getting most of the other drain from wifi. Anyone know whats going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try killing off Google maps if it's running.
Shut blue tooth and GPS off if not using them.
These couple of things might help.
One thing to know and remember: The percentage mentioned is not how much of your battery it uses, it's how much of the current battery usage belongs to the app/component.
Running any live wallpapers? Auto brightness? Which power-setting mode? Location services?
i am having the exact same issue, balanced mode, 35% brightness, no gps, bluetooth on etc and having only 3 hours on screen? Unfair because this tablet is perfect other then that
I would assume it's normal, it might use more than it's supposed to but wifi and screen will usually be the worst sinners, depending on what use of course.

Anyone had a random reboot on the latest 4.2.1 update?

Hello everyone, I have tf300 with 4.2.1 rooted and busybox installed
It had been amazing but just today, I got a random reboot when I was watching videos with YouTube app.
This isn't a thread where someone goes "baaaaaaaaaaaa somethings wrong!!! Someone help" but I just want to know whether or not it's a problem with my tablet (maybe a bad flash or something) or it is an actual firmware problem.
Thanks!

Yours seems to be worse than mine. I've been running my tablet on 4.2.1 for quite a time now but this is the first time... Maybe it is the bad flash. Used to happen on ICS on my first TF300 (Exchanged it). I guess I'll wait another day or so and see if the problem persists or it's one time thing.

Your not the only one gonna try to reinstall the update when its a good time to go through the whole process of setting it back up. Was gonna root it any way so no point to get an exchange if can be fixed. I got a random reboot today whilst going through the painful experience of browsing with this tablet. It took about 5 minutes or more to start up again and when it did, the system UI kept crashing which made the tablet hard to use as the message kept popping up. Thereafter, when i tried to reboot using the power settings, it froze. Very frustrating. I was able to sort it by holding the power button to turn it off and then turning it back on. It seems to work fine for now but it's something that shouldn't be happening. I'm stock and unrooted

Hm... seems like many people are experiencing this? Maybe it is a problem with the firmware itself?

This was driving me crazy until i realized that every time it rebooted automatic updates were running. Not sure how this happened, maybe corruption caused by play updates running when android updated. Uninstalling the 4 perpetually updating apps and reinstalling seems to have corrected the problem (or it's a lucky coincidence).
I was also having wireless dropouts, not sure how that would be related to updates but seems to have stopped now, possibly the updating process was spinning or using some other resource. I definitely recommend disabling auto updates and seeing if that helps.
