What's the latest stable release? I have tried searching for an answer, but couldn't seem to find any recent info. I am currently running Broodcomb 3,and as much as I like it, I am intrigued by the amount of customization and speed that Liberty supposedly has. Thanks for info in advance.

Also, with 4.5.596 just on the horizon, is it worth waiting for devs to have their way with it? I know that it might end up taking a while for it to be rooted, but I am also wondering if it will end up being more stable/accessible than all the leaked versions.

The latest version of Liberty GB is .5, but I believe it's only for .591, not .595. Also, .5 runs really good, very smooth, fast, and almost no issues that I've seen (it hard froze once on me, requiring a battery pull, but that's been it). However...there are almost no themes for it yet. I'm hoping once the OTA is out and we get the final GB release, and an updated LB release for it, more themes will be created or ported for it.
Word. Thanks.
I think that I will download 4.5. 596 and hang on to it until it's been rooted and just keep my current setup until there's some decent roms available for it.

So I was just wondering why would we flash roms? I mean the current stock os is almost bug free + when flashing roms we are faced with some major bugs sometimes.
I know that we would have the choice to remove bloatware, cutomise status bar, and sometime oc. That's all nice but still I don't see why not leave it as is?
Please excuse my ignorance. I just came from a rooted Dinc w/ miui
And I wanna have a better understanding.

For me it's the freedom to do with my phone what I want. These developers kick out some sweet features that we'll never see from a stock ROM, and they get us the latest software before the manufacturers. I bug here or there is well worth it for me, and if it's to bad you can always revert. If you prefer the stock experience, than by all means leave it alone. But me, I'm a tinkerer. Be it a car, truck, bike... or yes, even a phone, I can't leave well enough alone.
Because we can
To pick up chicks......I haven't met one yet that's not turned on by 48+ mflops!
Can't do that with stock.....
This might seem like an odd answer... I flash so I can have a standard interface on my phones. I've had a droid, droid x, and thunderbolt in the last year and a half (my company does some android development on in house apps for one of our clients, and we go through a lot of test phones). having something close to a stock interface minimizes the daily annoyances of moving between those phones.... which is why I use the aosp roms.

Wait, you came from a phone that you rooted and flashed MIUI on, but don't understand why others choose to not stay stock
Why??? that's not the correct question. The correct question is why not!

Pretty simple, I get rid of most of the stock crap, my battery lasts 30 to 40% longer, and it allows some independence

For me? Customization and battery life.
Number 1 reason on the Thunderbolt ... I prefer AOSP/CM7 over Sense.
Currently I am using the one from hacksung that is in beta 3 and it is working pretty well. I've been using it since last night and it has been completly usable. But I see there is another one that is in beta 1 and was just wondering if it was worth a try.

hacks is working fine here too, I say they are all too early to move back and forth. The way mines working I will just be looking for his 4th release.

I personally like Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream
But Team hacksung's rom is not beta 3, its build 3.....Its still alpha....
whereas the other one is beta 1..
I think you should try both, as both seems to be working great for different people....Both have some bugs which will take some time to resolve...
I'm currently on hacksung's, i was on one of the last alpha builds for onecosmics for a couple days but I'm having far more luck on hacksungs. Onecosmics build had more issues and took a lot more effort to get up and running on my cappy, also ran slower with more lag. It also had more little bugs in my testing, but that was also a couple builds ago. If you're really curious you could try both or just wait till a couple builds down the line when they're almost fully functioning. Both are great dev's who are just awesome for sticking with our sgs
Using onecosmic's beta 2 now. Has some irritating DPI issues that beta 1 didn't have, but other than that, the only things I can identify as "broken" are the video recorder and video playback in the gallery (which actually works, but obviously isn't hardware accelerated). Other than those two, everything seems to work out of the box.

There truly isn't a beta 2 for the Captivate yet, as ytt3r hasn't done the kernel yet... most fixes are done in the kernel not the ROM itself...

I think I'm just gonna stay with the hacksungs for the rest of the week just because its working really well I think. But this weekend I'm gonna try some other roms out that use ics and see which I like best. Alsi any of you guys on hacksung get a keyboard lag when typing using this app. I mean its not really a big deal a all but I was just wondering if it is only me. And one more question if u guys lock your phone and then press the volume and power buttons do you get a wierd reactionc from hour phone. If you would like yo try it and respond back that would be great. Sorry I didnt explain well the key board lay is pretty bad right now haha.

+1 any time a change is made whether it is as minor as adding a font change or as major as adding a complete revamp it is still an update therefore can be changed from beta 1 to 2
I'm running beta 2 right now and the dpi issue is fixed easily with a build prop fix but so far I'm loving it runs very smooth what brought me to this version is teamhacksungs listed a lot more issues than onesonics version (although most have been fixed) but try both and judge for yourself any ROM is different for every user
The Captivate kernel still hasn't been updated to Beta 2, so try again guys... why do I have to keep on saying this to everyone!?! most fixes are done in the kernel, not the ROM.

The Kernel is beta 1 the rom is beta 2 read the ENTIRE op it says it plainly right there. So yes they are right the rom is beta 2.
The part that makes it beta 2 is the kernel. So no they are wrong... I am not gonna argue with people that I know are wrong it is worthless

Then you should argue with the devs to change it to beta 1 if that is your answer. Or, don't argue at all because obviously you are right and you know it.

I've been on Hacksungs ICS for a couple of days. Running pretty smooth. Yes i'ts got it's glitches but that's understandible being in the early stages. Waiting anxiosly for build 4. Flashing from CM7 was a breeze.
Keep up the great work DEVS.
A summary matrix of what's there and a count of satisfied users BY WEEK would be great. A poll?
I See ICSSGS and ITL41D. What others?
Arguing over Alpha/Beta/Release.. is not very helpful, as some may have a more optimistic view on their team's progress made thus far. The user perspective which will evolve week to week is what really will matter.

Define "stable". If you mean smooth and speedy, there's a couple of them out there. Just have to try different ones out for what works best for you.
If you're looking for a fully functional one, don't hold your breath. It's unlikely that we'll see any significant updates or drivers from LG any time soon (if ever).
I'm liking Eagles Blood AOSP ICS 4.04...
But seems lie some of the bugs kinda ironed themselves out. A little weird.
These are the issues I have.
Voicemail notification is not working for me (although missed call is)
I was not getting my Gmail notifications, seems fine now after turning airplane mode on/off.
Video Camera doesn't work (known issue, thanks to NVidia)
Getting a SIM Error not being recognized (but I can make calls and do all the normal stuff)
In the beginning, EBLauncher crashed often, once 3 times in a row that required a battery pull, it has not done it since.
This build is smooth, fast and IMO looks great and getting over 24hrs on battery but keep in mind we are all different users!!

So I've been out of the whole ROM scene for a while now, I have CM7 on my TB still and it sucks pretty hard, and I'm looking to install a new rom. I mostly tether, text, and sometimes talk on the phone. I'm not that big on apps except like sports center, twitter, and facebook...usuallly don't play games. Any suggestions on where to start?
There isn't much to complain about in regards to CM7, as we don't have a whole lot of new development. Slayher's CM7 build is still my favorite T-Bolt rom in terms of speed and stability. I run a 1.6ghz OC and it's pretty snappy. Thundershed is a very popular ROM right now and is based off of the CM7.2 codebase with an ICS theme, so I would certainly check it out if you are looking for something that feels different. You'll probably want to look into various roms on your own as it's honestly opinionated with a few exceptions.
Team Liquid is also working on an ICS rom that has working Phone and SMS, but data isn't working yet(they are coding the RIL from scratch). I would keep my eye on it as the rom will probably become ready for daily use in the near future. As soon as data works, I'll probably switch over from CM7 unless there are other issues that arise with the rom.
I used to suggest to users any rom by ThunderStick, but he was a complete dbag recently on his rom thread when questioned on one of the issues the rom had. I guess because he moved to a nexus he stopped caring about the TB. I would check out the rom list (thunderbolt development forum) and go through each one. BAMF has always been high on peoples list.

Come on, you asked a question that any amount of thought or common sense should have answered for you, thunderstick and others gave you appropriate responses. Back on topic though, skyraider is great. Thundershed, jellyblur, and sfkcm7 are awesome AOSP roms and worth a look too. There's also a bunch of solid desensed roms out there. It's best to flash some roms and get to know your own tastes that way. After all, only you know what your ideal rom is.

All of them.

If you're looking for something different, Vicious and SPJester's MIUI rom works very nicely. It's easy to customize using the built in MIUI system. Everything but MMS works I believe, but the way the rom is set up is a bit strange (as there is no app drawer, sort of like IOS). Still, very solid and, having tried pretty much every tbolt rom out there, this is the one I always come back to.
Using JellyBlur v1.3 and having 0 problems so far. Been running it for awhile now without any problems and love it. Thinking about putting it on my husband's Thunderbolt as Skyraider Zues is giving him some problems.

I'm with you, personally Jellyblur 1.3 has been the best running, slickest rom I've used. I've tried Bamf, and quite a few other roms out there. This for me is going to be my daily. I'm hoping we can get ICS (but not counting on it, and the only reason I want it is so the devs can grab the RIL and do something awesome with it).

Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester
I recently went through most of the recommended ROMs (after unrooting to get the OTA radio update, doing a clean wipe, then re-rooting) and I have landed on Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester which seems to be the slickest and best-running I've seen so far. Battery life is good, audio, SMS/MMS, data, and phone work. It is thankfully De-Sensed and instead uses the Go Launcher.
As brief as possible:
A few weeks ago my girlfriend asked me to throw ICS on her phone, i'm just a novice when it comes to rooting but i mean it's all self explanatory.
The only problem i ran into was finding a working ICS rom. I didn't know what xda was till this was all over and done with.
So i flash ICS 4.03, a ROM that appeared to have everything working camera/youtube/facebook/ the works (and it all did work). It's all peachy until i get this text where she says the keyboards all laggy. She's tried tons of android market keyboards and nothing really solves her problem, and shes just been seeing her phone deteriorate.
I don't have access to her phone seeing as it's hers and all, but she's asked me to fix it this coming weekend, and i don't really want to give her back that old sense 2.1/ gingerbread stuff she had. But i also don't want to give her some super fancy ROM that this phone apparently can't handle. I've read all the ROM Q&A's but with out the phone with me i can't really try them all myself, and i can't know if don't try them myself.
So my question is which ROM runs the best on this phone and preferably isn't a downgrade from ICS, or at least is better than her old firmware. Or if there's a better ICS ROM with none of these issue's, but i've been hard pressed to find it.
Sorry if i was non specific.
I've had no problems with redemption 1.2.7 it is ics with a lot of customization.
