I have read that the updated radio improves reception signals and thus battery life, but I can't find any links to it.
Would someone be kind enough to post me a flashable file with just the radio please.
Thanks in advance.

Hi! May I asked where you found the latest radio? maybe post some links.. thanks..
Ooh my took a lot of effort to find. Here I upload the file;
http://db.tt/xvGZXM5
After downloading copy to sdcard root and rename to PG88IMG.zip and confirm flash in hboot (not fastboot).
Haven't really seen any signal improvements, be sure have your original radio to hand before flash just in case you want to revert to original radio ok, up to you.
Edit found source, it is in loveboatcaptain Rom thread in the development forum just click in the download link on the first post. His Rom has many goodies added so all credits to him.

Thanks for the info.. But just quick questions:
1. Can I upgrade my radio ONLY?
2. Can I do this if my phone is S-ON? (Because mine is.. )
The reason I want to do this is because I'm a having a hard time having reception from my carrier on areas IN the house where previous phones(a lot, mostly Nokia's) doesn't have any problems with it. This made me think that the problem is still not in my SIM but on the radio of the device. And it shouldn't have problems with it as the SIM card is only about 2 years old. Maybe a software problem?
Thanks for all the help, am still a noob on Android stuffs, and only 3rd day of having my HTC Desire S. And already loving it except with the radio problem.
If I may add: when I turn on my Wi-Fi, my reception will really be having a hard time getting any, twice as difficult maybe. Is this normal? or should I bring this back to HTC?
P.S.
I've already know about the problem with Wi-Fi "death-grip", and mine has it.
Thanks again..

Hi skanob
Yes this file will only write the radio but not sure if will work on s-on phone. Like I said I haven't noticed any better quality reception either, I always blamed the design flaw in this.

Thanks for the reply..
Yup, I was quite shocked when I read on one of the manuals that came w/ the phone that the radio is placed on the bottom of the phone, where you usually hold the phone. (opposite where the wifi hardware is). Which is quite disappointing. It seems their telling us to use the phone (calling and sms, maybe network internet) without holding your phone the "usual" way.

I've had errors in using the extracted RIL on CM/ other ROM bases. I'm unlocked and running my phone on Virgin Mobile Canada. When using the ported RIL and flashing new radio I had horrible connection speeds and service provider only showed 'Bell'.
Been looking forward to Football's release and he definately delivered here!

Yes, after installing the RUU and you will lose root access.
I'm having trouble with the download link. 5 times now the download craps out about halfway through. Does anyone have a mirror?
Im using it right now without the Ril and I find that i have better signal and a tiny bit better battery life and less dropped calls. But then again im with Telus so....

Hi, I want to use the new radio, which will hopefully fix my Bluetooth problems with VoidU S.
Do I need the new hboot in order to change the radio?
Where can I also find the latest radio version you are all using? I can't seem to find it-
, can someone post a link? (I'm bas in the uk)
Can anyone confirm no Bluetooth issues with the new radio on VoidU S?
Many thanks!

C'mon c'mon, look at the links in my signature for radio version thread.
Plus, I can't believe that you didn't look in the Dev INDEX thread There is a link to the new radio in the RADIO sub-section of that.
I'm afraid that I'm not 100% on whether or not you need the new hboot for it, but, I know that I'm on the new HBOOT and have the new Radio version...if that helps...
BT seems to function ok, see my #POST in VoidU thread although was rather worse for wear when i wrote it so its not the clearest.

'Rather worst for wear' - what do you mean?
Sorry, I did check that thread, but there seem to be loads of leaked GoApk radios from there, and I didn't know Which was the best. according to the radio thread (of the one your using) it works with the old Hboot. I'm going to try it now... Hopefully Bluetooth works!

Researching and reading some homeowner concerns of htc sensation, I have observed that a large number of users after making root and s-off a large majority are having problems with the responsiveness of the data signal on the phone, even do not know that usually this problem if the custom ROM or made S-OFF, so if we know the problem is there, if you have the same problem post your complaints here.
people forget to match up radio versions and corresponding rils. i haven't had any issues with the properly matches rils/radios.

So your still stuck with the same problem as me? Or did you just go back to out of the box stock Rom? I was thinking of just go with the stock, since I've been having problems mainly on signal issues after I flashed arhd and I can't stand having to turn airplane mode on and off everytime to gain signal.

Root and a off don't relate to signal, but what you flash after that does. Easiest solution is to use the same radio and ril combo as was included stock, whichever ROM you're using. Newer radios can give some improvements, but also can cause issues

Regarding the European RUU, I have a completely stock branded to vodafone desire S with the 2.3.5 OTA. Will I have to take any measures besides backing up my stuff to install the RUU?
Normally i wouldn't ask this, but the phone being limited to vodafone only sim cards makes me wonder if the RUU will affect any of it or if i have to do extra steps that I wouldn't with an unbranded phone.
Thanks,
Daniel
I think no one really knows yet. RUU is still too fresh. My guess, yes you can just install this on your branded Desire S. Your SIM lock will stay (this is never affected by a ROM). If you now have a Vodafone boot logo, you might lose that. Any apps put on there by Vodafone, you'll also lose, of course.
Actually that would work great for me, tired of the preinstalled crap As for not losing the sim lock, doesn't bothed me so much.
Kinda just want to update without issues, wondered how it would fit this specific situation.
Thanks for the reply m8
Update:
Installed the RUU without issues, phone seems to be working fine so far.. actually have more free memory than before (both without apps installed, did a reset before installing the RUU)
Wifi and 3G are working, phone is smooth but to be fair.. only installing apps atm.. glad to have the update

I am recently shifted from MyTouch4G to Sensation4G and performed all preliminary steps i.e. S-OFF, Rooting and Super CIDing.
While searching for ROMs to flash.. i saw that my device's firmware also needs to be upgraded.. so i did a little search and flashed 3.33 universal from Kohr-Ah's thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767)
Now i am facing couple of problems..
1. First i installed DarkForest which required 3.33 however it wasnt booting up so i trashed it and flashed Team Venom's Viper which booted up pretty well and started using it. Anyone can tell me why darkforest wasnt booting up ?
2. I usually dont get very good network reception on ground floor at my home still Mytouch4g never lost signals but since i have moved to Sensation4g, signals' reception is very dodgy on the ground floor.. it comes and goes.. Hi there. With radio and ril it's very difficult to give a recommendation because we all live in different reception areas. But you can start with the generic Ics radios and rils and do some experimenting and see which gives you the best signal. Read the radios carefully and make sure their Ics and for your country. I also upgraded my radio and the generic Ics worked well. Let me give you the link for the radio and rils. Hope this helps out. Best wishes. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867 scroll down. And you will find the links to radio and rils. After you read.

I don't have a very good reception either. It's much worse than my iPhone. I have tried everything, from changing ROMs to kernels, radios, rils. Nothing changed. So my conclusion was that the Sensation has an awful reception and there is nothing you can do about it. Just live with it

Hi,
"GetRil" from the market may help you to find the best radio/ril combination.
I changed my radio and ril and I have five bars on H reception. It's really good. So no, not everyone has really bad reception. Mines much better than it used to be with new radio and ril. Hopefully you also will get positive results!

Unless you live in the same place as realsis, then, his combination will not necessarily work on your phone.

hi unfortunately i can't suggest a combo for you due to the areas we live in are different but i can help with a place to start. I'm going to send a link for generic ICS radio and rils. on link please read instructions carefully and scroll down then look carefully and you will find the ics radios and rils link. try out a few and see if it helps. i was lucky, the first one i tried worked for me. also keep your old radio number so if you want to return to it you know what it was and can find it. you will flash the ril like a rom, however radio must be flashed differently. place the pg58img file at root of sd card. pull battery, put battery back in, press volume down and power, when it boots into boot loader it will recognise the pg58img file and ask to update. press power for yes. once the update is finished you MUST delete the pg58img file from sd card or in boot loader it will continue to try to update over and over. so make sure you delete it. Hope this helps. here is a link to radios and rils. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867
hope this is helpful for you.
