Guys !!! succesfully played alot of mkv's (movies, animes tv-shows all HD)
this one is much better than rock player gonna buy this app definetly !
edit: when i click ''about'' in the app it crashes to the main screen !
found a bug.. if you have a mkv file on the sd-card and you click show thumbnails in the settings the program crashes !
awesome player! but while integrated MKV subtitles do show up (720p mkv). the separate .ass subtitles don't show up(maybe because still only 3 subtitle encodings) they DO show up in rockplayer and vplayer. One more thing it could be awesome if you could implement audio tracks switching. i'm very interested in buying this player but i need all my subtitles to work and audio tracks switching =(
Does it support SRS?
It crashes with some of my videos, if thumbnail-preview is enabled...
Can it play 1080p mkv video with no lag ?
Not being able to play even 720p mkv's, laggy and no sound at all.
the fault must be on your end then.. mine works great with 720p mkv/avi/divx
1st player i have tried that can play my 720p MKV files without lag or dropping files.
I bought it based on the reviews. Can't wait to try later when I get home.

Market options???
The only similar thing that I find is the "content filtering" and is already selected to "Show all apps".
That is it? If yes, unfortunately doesn't work yet.
OK, I need to recognize that I am noob on Android, so it could be probably something that I am not doing right.....

I found out what is wrong.......
I live in United Arab Emirates and it is not included yet on the "Paid App Availability" countries list
Maybe this information could help others users.
Wow finally got a chance to drop some 720p films on my phone today. They look and play great with this app thank you.

this app runs GREAT! so much more smooth than vplayer! only one problem I found so far since I watch a lot of anime with embedded subtitles. Most are .mkv with .ass subtitles. .ass subtitles embedded in .mkv don't seem to load although .srt load fine.
Can you integrate support for .ass subtitles?
I attached an example .ass subtitle (i put it in a .rar archive since xda didn't allow .ass as attachment..)
Thank you !

VPlayer NEED testers for DROID X and DROID 2
Version: 0.7.7a7
1. Basic streaming support. When you click a video link (http, rtsp) in somewhere, you may choose VPlayer to open it.
2. Fix audio bugs in 3gp, wmv, etc.
3. More responsible when openning a video.
4. Fix the bug in subtitle sync.
---------------------------------------------------------
I've developed a media player which can play divx/xvid, rmvb, flv,
you can find it from market by search vplayer
At this time, VPlayer is just an alpha version and only support device with neon support and Android 2.x
VPlayer using FFmpeg, can play almost all video formats, Divx/Xvid, real media, flv, mkv.
VPlayer is almost the best video player in performance.
According to feedback of users, VPlayer acts better than other similar media players in divx, flv, rmvb playback.
Now VPlayer is in alpha version, only basic video playback capabilities. But it made perfect, it takes into account
the use of the various situations encountered, for example, while you are watching video, a call is coming.
VPlayer will continue to improve in the future, some basic characteristics of video player (such as subtitles support)
will be added on asap, and some special features are in roadmap.
The functionality and performance are most important feature of VPlayer. I plan to add hardware decoding and streaming
I try to make it clear, but my English is so poor...
hmmm, I also have to improve my English performance
Moderator edit: This app has changed into an expiring trial version, which is not allowed on XDA. Therefore this thread has been closed.
Hmmm, i get no results...
Sent from my rooted X10i using tapatalk
oh, i see.
perhaps your rom dosen't support neon.
I'm using it now and i'ts working great. You have the trackball to pause the video. But is there a way to make the trackball fastforward or rewind the video? I know that I can do that with the scroll bar, but it would be nice to use the trackball too?
I find it .
I'll try it today.

No. However the Andoird version must >= 2.1 and the phone must support NEON.
Downloaded it earlier; so far so good. It plays my flvs smoothly, and the app is much smaller than rockplayer. I'll test it out with some different file types tonight.

What's the benefit of using this over RockPlayer which plays even more formats and is probably also using ffmpeg? http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/0...e-host-of-video-files-on-your-android-device/
It can play my .avi files alright but sometimes the colours from one frame fade into the next.

VPlayer can play all the video formats that ffmpeg support, and VPlayer has better performance.

The mVideoplayer is my favorite one, but the MoboPlayer would be the one that plays the most files.
Video Formats
What format and settings are you using for the videos? I've used a couple of players so far, and both mobo and mvideoplayer have done well for me so far, but specific video formatting can be sketchy. I've found that its best to remaster any vids I grab to a universal format that does a reasonable job of compression vs quality. I don't recall the settings I've been using off the top, but I can check once I get home from work and let you know what works best for me.
Moboplayer!
stock is best
i think the stock player is best ... but it would be nice if someone would compile VLC to work on android... just a thought.
I use Vplayer and it plays everything i need to, trial is free and says it only will work for 30 days or something like that but i have used it past that with no problems
is there anything that will play ISO though?
I personally use vplayer has best quality and haven't found a video yet it hasn't been able to play...

SW decoding Player : vPlayer is the best for Sensation.
vPlayer is multi-threaded app. it can use full dual core.
but other player - rock , mobo , vital use only single core.
HW decoding Player : Diceplayer is the best.
Rock/v/vital/mobo/qq can't use hw decoder ( if file is not supported from system)
if file format is mp4, all player can play HD.
but file format is MKV(+DTS), you can see huge lag.
only diceplayer can play MKV(+DTS/FLAC) HD movies.(+longer battery life )

+1 for Dice Player, I have all the others installed too, but Dice Player is the best (I watch a lot of 720p MKV, some use DTS sound).
hi,
just checked Dice Player on my Sensation. its really great app. showing 1080p videos almost flawlessly.
my question is, if dice is lowering the fps to show video more fluently?
Thanks

MX Video Player
Thanks i will try it.
MX works very good on Fire.
Just watched Modern Family mkv in HD (720p), hardware accelerated, without lags and nothing.
PS. The only problem was the audio channel that didn't work in HW mode. Just changed that to SW decoding and everything was fine.

I have always trusted in VLC Player, however, technically its still in closed beta for Android, and not available for direct download via the Market.
With the OP being new to Android, I guess I might be expecting a little too much to say, Google for it (VLC-neon.apk), and sideload it?! But I'm putting it out there anyway!

Hi, i too have been confronted to these .mkv files. Been told that they would be normal video format files but embedded with subtitles. Annyway, use VLC Media Player if on pc, and MX Player for Android. I loaded the standard "mx player" on Google Play. Should you face any issues, look up for the available codecs (aimed for diff. specific processors architecture) and take the one for your device. Got an ARMv7 and i didnt have to load the codecs up to now. Hope this help and didnt annoyed, kinda noticed the lenght of my thread just now...
