Hi,
I wanna write a little homebrew app where I can toggle some settings to given default values. For example I need different settings for volume and "lockscreen timeout" in my car and at home.
So basiccal what I want to write is something like the "Quick Settings" apps.
Is this possible?
I haven't found aynthing usefull on this topic, so if someone can point me in the right direction, that would be greate.
Best regards,
lomdar

I would love that. Typically to deactivate the vibrator/activate push mail/activate Wi-Fi when leaving the office. That'd be sweet!

Hi,
im lookin for some info on changin the size(making it slightly larger in size) and function of the bluetooth icon on my Imate jam, i was hoping to make it a tap, tap+hold icon, so that tap would activate/deactivate BT an tap+hold would go to further settings. anyone heard of anything like this going around, id prefer to customize the original rather than using a 3rd party fix unless it fixes the original directly. any suggestions as to how i might go about this would be well appreciated.

Haven't heard of something like that, but maybe this is a useful alternative for you:
Try buzz_lightyear's SwitchIt (look at this post). With thisyou can place shortcuts on your today screen which allow you to control your bluetooth settings. Besides switching bluetooth on/off/discoverable you also can switch on/off your devices infrared. It runs perfectly on my MDA compact.
I'm working on a little frontend, which will allow you to control all your connection settings on one single page (see also at the above mentioned post).

miniBT trial
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=16666
they are both quite nice, buzz's has more function though.
miniBT is sligthly smaller in size(13kb) and only has the one funtion,on/off.
thanks for pointin buzz's post out
I will see if buzz can do anythin like what i was chasing.

Hello, just curious if there was a way to make a shortcut (with icon) to settings page. HTC Home has one to Programs but would like to have one for Settings too. Would love to get rid of the Start Button.... I have searched but not really found what I am looking for....
Thanks.
not too sure about the actual syntax for the link to the settings folder but this list will show you how to make a direct link to a particular setting...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340974
Cheers
Thanks, but still looking for a way to link to the settings pages, like if I was to click settings from the start bar, but have the link in Home's Application Launcher...
Is there a simple way of creating application shortcuts to appear on your today screen without having to click on the windows start menu to find it?
I have searched the forum & found many similar questions but they all seem so complicated.
All I need to do is create a shortcut for an application that normally fires up when the phone is switched on but I need the ability to have quick access to the shortcut incase the app is ever accidently closed down.
This app should always be on as well as the data connection to which i also need a shortcut for.
So the COMM MANAGER icon as a shortcut for quick access would be needed to enable a quicker start to Data connection if offline for some reason
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Yes. Go to Start/Settings/Today/Items tab where you can select what you want. At least I can do it on Touch 3G (Jade).

Yes thanks but that's not what I mean, I have already tried but found that you have limited choice to what you can add. I need to add other items that are not included in th items tab.
Try this...
It's a simple shortcut creator for the today screen - sounds like just what you're after.
I use this and have had no problems with it.

Thanks for that, it does look like exactly what i need but for some reason it does not work on my O2 XDA Mantle and the Samsung Omnia, both using Windows mobile 6.1
I get the same problem on both phones where after instalation the app does not appear in start menu or in programme files.
I have selected "Easy today Launcher" in the items tab of the today screen but nothing appears to allow you to use the software
I'm on WM6.1 on a Sony Xperia and its fine.
Did you add any icons to it?
It doesn't appear in programme files or programmes - just in Today settings.
Go to Settings->Today->Items.
Make sure the box is ticked next to 'Easy Today Launcher'.
Select 'Easy Today Launcher' so thats its highlighted gry, then click options. Use add to add a new application to the bar, remove to remove ones you don't want, and up and down to chane the order. You can also select whether you want large or small items in the options screen.

Doh!!
That's it thanks
It now works
I found another app called SBSH iLauncher but it's not free
it allows shorcuts to documents which is something else I need, it doesn't look line Easy today Launcher can do this as it only creates shortcuts to applications.
thanks for your time.
I REALLY hate the placement of the SIP changer when the soft keyboard is up. There are so many times when I am typing that I accidently hit that tiny little *&^%$% triangle, and it slows whatever I'm doing down until the damn chooser opens.
I'm looking for a way to either eliminate it, and possibly put the chooser it's self under the settings menu.
Start > Settings > System > SIP changer.
Or is there a way to just hide the bottom bar all together while typing? I know this is possible, because the bottom bar is hidden while using Pocket CM.
Anybody... PLEASE help. I have looked at several apps (can't remember what they were called anymore) but none of them did what I am asking. Does ANYBODY know of a good solution, or ... ya know... is anybody willing to put one together?

FingerKeyboard hides the bottom bar all together http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501434&highlight=fingerkeyb
Good luck
You are free to ask this question, but not in Dev & Hack. Moving to General Q&A.
Thank you for your understanding.

I was using FingerKeyboard for a while, but for some reason it was God awful slow for me.

Hi!
How can I change the hexagonal icons layout in the Start and Settings menu ("Honeycomb") back to the square layout? The hexagonal makes me feel dizzy.
Thanks
It's nearly impossible to do that, since the code for the hexagon layout is hidden deeply.
There are a lot of .cabs for that kicking around. What kind of phone.

I spent about an hour searching via Google
Phone - Xperia X2.
It is enough to just point me to the right registry value, if there is any.

Yes, the Start Menu and Setting menu. Sorry for not being clear
OK, no problem. Well I'm surprised that Denko is saying that there are a lot of cabs for that, because as far as I know, it is not possible.
Will await his reply then.
OK, I'v found something. A small configurable application called XTask, download link here.
Btw, if you don't know where to start, just click on the taskbar and drag the line down. The XTask Settings allow you to configure its internal menu and also replace the Start Menu entirely with its own diagonal icon layout.
Alternatively in its settings set it so its file manager starts when clicking the Start Menu icon and browse to Windows\Start Menu\Programs directory. It is normally alphabetically sorted and you can arrange shortcuts to various subfolders. It can be even more easily done with Total Commander or from PC.
And for phone settings click on Control. It arranges icons by same strange order, probably like the original Start Menu, but maybe I'll find how to change that.
