I was wondering if anyone had a good comparison between the two phones.? I currently have the atrix and I have been seriously thinking about switching to the infuse but I don't know if it will last as long. I am currently getting about a day out of the atrix and I can't afford to go to a phone that will last any less.
The infuse battery lasts just as long. I had an atrix and was impressed and am equally impressed with the infuse.
I go at the very minimum at least a day, and on most days well over a day. Under normal circumstances I charge every other night.

Have you done anything to increase your battery life? I come from ios and I am a firm believer in not having to constantly turn things on and off. I will not shut off my data or modify sync schedules and my corporate email must be on push all the time. I also don't use a task killer. I was just wondering because you said at minimum a day and that is my maximum.

I had the Atrix for about 20 days. I loved the battery on it!! That phone would last me a whole day! I left gps and sync always on and I had brightness on max with screen timeout at 2 minutes. I had issues with it and definitely didn't like the cameras so I returned it.
The Infuse I've had 3 or 4 days now and the battery has gotten better with time. I have the gps and sync always on and brightness at a bit more than half. Doesn't seem to last me as long as the Atrix did, but it's much better than the Captivate! I'm having data issues with it though just like I did with the Atrix
I had the atrix for 30 days and so far the infuse lasts just as long on the battery. Atleast for my usage.

I'm sorry if this is a silly question but how does push save battery?
I was under the impression that push required the phone to be constantly checking for new emails or to have a connection active at all times. Both of the scenarios would lead me to think that it uses more battery than setting a fetch schedule.
For refernce here is what an average day for me is:
3h 25m since unplugged
voice calls 77% 1h 33m
display 9% 39m 13s
phone idle 4% 2h 46m
android system 4%
CPU total 5m 29scell standy 2% 3h 25m
touchdown 2%
CPU total 2m 38sandroid OS 2%
CPU total 1m 52s
With all of this I am at 50 and it has only been 3.5 hours of a 10 hour work day not to mention time during break and when I get off.
This guy here says that he was still at 62% battery left AFTER FOUR DAYS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXyRG0S3o3o
forward to the 1:45 mark to hear him say it...
Maybe the Samsung sends out test models with better batteries to the websites doing reviews so that potential customers think it has better battery life than it really is and purchase it???

Pull is when the phone checks the server every X minutes for new messages, whether they're there or not.
Push is when the server sends the new message to your phone when it gets it.
Depending on how many messages you get, Push can save some battery.

So what kind of real world battery life are you guys getting? I've only had my Atrix 2 for a matter of 8 hours. It said 50% when I got it home, charged it up. I'm just curious as to what people are getting out of it. I'm coming from the Backflip which got, maybe 4-6 hours of frequent use (texting).
I'm getting anywhere from 14-18 hrs with moderate use, but when I get really heavy I can drain it n around 6-8 hrs. Battery life has been great!
I get about 17+ hours. I work and use the GPS all day and Pandora and by the time I'm home I'm still at 50%. The ATRIX 2 by far is my best android phone when it comes to battery life.

That sounds great. :O I was considering the extended battery when it becomes available, but at that rate, why bother?
True. I have yet to run out if battery before I got home. I had an extended battery on my incredible because that battery was horrible. Give it a whirl without the extended battery you won't be disappointed.

I'm getting about 26hrs on a charge, moderate use
I have the extended battery and honestly I haven't been able to get much more life at the end of the day over the STD battery.

I'm putting mine through the gauntlet, when I get ready for bed I'm around 50%.
I am coming from an OG Atrix (which I lost) and my Atrix 2 is in the mail. Does anyone know how the battery life on the Atrix 2 stacks up against the Atrix 4G? I was getting pretty good battery life with the OG and was wandering if this one should be as good.
I have had both phones and they are comparable for my usage. Usually 14-15 hours with moderate usage.
I have not had it run out on me during the day even on heavy use days. I do charge it every night.

I had an OG Atrix, and at least for me the Atrix2 is slightly better on battery. It's just a subjective observation, but the A2 seems to be really agressive in turning off the wifi (after locking the screen), which might account for the increased battery life.
I can easily go "a day" (16 hours) and even if I forget to charge my phone overnight, I'll still have 20 some percent left. I'm estimating I use the phone a bit more than "moderate". I use it as a kindle for reading, game playing of course and then taking pictures of my 6 month old son.
Again subjectively, but it seems the only thing that's worse battery-wise is talk time. I've only had 2 long (>30 mins) calls so far on the A2 and they were pretty heavy on the battery. On my OG Atrix I never could get the battery to go down from being in a call, not sure what's up with that.
Hope that helps,
I charged up my phone last night to 100% at 10pm, took it off the charger, set my alarm on it, alarm went off at 600am, i hit the snooze three times and ended up getting up at 630am, my phone was still on 100% per the battery calibration app I use. About an hour ago it was down to 93%, not bad after being on the battery for 14hrs I'd say

When I bought I played a lot and used wifi (turned off GSM module). It was about 14 hours of usage.

The only reason i'm using a calibration app is because we don't have a fully functional recovery yet. Normally I'd wipe batt stats in recovery. But for the meantime, i'm using this one
Why don't I like these calibration apps? Back when I had my SE Xperia X10, rooted on WB rom, my phone was stable but my batt stats got jacked up during a flash of a mod so I decided to calibrate my battery (before I knew I could do so via xRecovery) and the result was all bad. After following the process and recharging it to 100%, my battery drained fast as hell....i'm talking 1% per minute!
Then I found out I could (and should) recalibrate via xRecovery and did so and it was back to normal. That being said, I used the above app to calibrate my battery on my Atrix 2 yesterday and so far so good. I am at 70% still and my phone has been on battery power since 10pm last night and I spent at least 1-1.5hrs on 4g during lunch. Few texts, few phone calls....I'd say it's doing pretty damn good.
Do you use any "battery saving apps"? I've seen all kinds out there but don't know which ones actually work and which ones just take up more space on the device and resources
I don't know if the Atrix 2 has it or not, but if it does (the OG does); there are battery settings in the settings menu that work pretty darn good. I've heard JuiceDefender works pretty good, although I've never used any of those programs.
My battery life has been great compared to other android devices I've used
(Nexus S, Captivate, Inspire4G(The Worst), Atrix 4G)
Typical day for me is: up @ 5AM, the phone is the alarm so it comes off the charger at around 5:01AM.
Configuration is:
1 Gmail account,
1 IMAP Account
1 Exchange Active Sync.
Typical routine:
check email at 5:30 or so for over night activity,
Turn on pandora for about 35 minutes @ 6:15 while I drive.
Typically during the day I'll get at least 75 - 130 emails on the active sync account. Send about 50.
About 100 - 200 text messages.
Facebook i'll check about twice.
I'll use about 1 - 2 hours of phone talk time.
7 or 8 google searches with a tad bit of web browsing at each search.
Another 35 minutes worth of pandora at around 5:00PM.
Random game playing / whatever the 6 year old may do.
at 10PM it goes back on the charger, battery is usually between 30 and 40%.
So far its only been completely depleted during the day once, but that was due to a 4 1/2 hour phone call that took place on top of the other stuff, and GPS nav for bout 90 minutes.
All in all, its a tad bit less battery life than my iPhone 4 was, however I would say it is quite acceptable. None of the other android devices could go the distance for my day, and the inspire 4g was just laughable to the point I returned it after 2 weeks to get the Atrix 4G. The 4G did good, but not as good as the Atrix 2 has so far.
Any phone that makes it through my day I consider to have a great battery. I've ordered the extended battery (motorola direct, non third party) I'll see what the difference is.
Damn man, I couldnt imagine being that tethered to the phone. When do you live life?

I haven't gotten my A2 yet, but I am really looking forward to playing with it. Seems like a worthy upgrade from my trusty (but lost) 4G.
*New* How much does your battery drain per hour. I can't remember what it was with the Note but I think it was 1% an hour. I'm at 90% currently after 5 hours so that's more than 1%. *New*
*Old* Man I have the absolute worst luck in the world. I had a phone with great battery life but had to return it because of light bleed. Now this phone is down to 92% after only 20 mins off the charger with 19 mins of use. I'm literally watching the battery decrease. That seems unacceptable to me. I never noticed it draining that fast on my previous one. But everything else on this phone is prefect. I can't win.
After 5 hours it is down to 59% with 44 mins screen on time.
I'm pretty sure I'd still be around 80% on the phone I had to return. I can post pics of that phone's battery life also if you want. *Old*

This, definitely.
I definitely think there are some serious calibration issues on my phone as well...
TWRP recovery always shows 10-15% more battery than I see in the ROM ...also, when I reboot the phone the battery% comes down by around 5-10% and when I connect it to a USB cable to transfer some files , the battery% goes up by 5-10% in 2 mins ...
but the good part is , my phone still shuts down when the battery % reaches "0" ... so I am good with it
Hmm. Interesting. In all the smartphones I've hard previously (Sanyo zio, HTC EVO 3G, HTC Inspire 4G, HTC ONE X), the battery drains quickly. I'm a field technician so I drive a lot. I've found that usually the battery will die near the end of the day if I don't keep it on a charger at some point in the day. Normally when I'm driving, its plugged into the car charger. And really I don't think I do a whole lot with it. Well actually, I do everything with it. But I'm not gaming or anything like that. Mostly bluetooth calling, browsing the web, sending emails, taking photos, etc.
I do agree, don't make a judgement call when its 92% battery.
I was getting 1 day and 5 hours with 3 hours screen on time consistently with the previous phone. The best I've gotten with this one is 20 hours and an hour and 45 mins screen on time. Maybe I just need to put this through its paces longer. Who knows.

Battery meter isn't calibrated out of the box. Charge to full, and use until 10-20%, repeat a couple times to calibrate the battery meter. Then make judgement on battery life.

2 hours and only 14 mins of screen on time and down to 90%. WTF is wrong that they can't make every phone relatively the same?! I feel like I only paid 5 bucks for this phone. Want to get an idea of battery life with Verizon LTE on the S3. When voting in the poll please include the following of what type of user you are 1) heavy user 2) moderate user 3) barely use the phone aka mostly on standby.
I'm interested in the screen time on, not standby, and only those with LTE access.
heavy user days I get twelve hours
moderate days 15
not at all 2 days.
Heavy user I get 12 hours with 3-5 hours talk time and heavy Internet usage about 2 hours, 14-16 if I cut my talk time and Internet usage down 30% . my rezound with extended battery would last longer larger battery obviously, I think the s3 would have even better battery life if the antennas were better they are very poor compared to my rezound which makes a difference in battery life. But all in all there is noticeable difference in battery advancement with s3 I hope all phones will have battery life like s3 and better

If the screen is on because you are using the LTE, you are going to sap the battery much more quickly. I love the LTE, but it is not battery friendly. If you aren't using a lot of network, then you are correct. Most peoples on screen time is because they are using their network though.

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Moto G5 Plus before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Phone can reach 9h SOT easily when on wifi. Battery backup combined with overall performance are the best features in this phone.
Too much improvement coming from 2 yr old htc one m9+ and battery is atleast 2 to 3 times better than that of htc its crazy. I didnt expect this from 3000mah
I have not been able to use my G5 Plus enough to kill the battery. I've gotten to about 5 hours a couple of times with at least 40% remaining. My Pixel would be down to 40% before 2.5 hours.

Best screen on time of any phone I've ever owned. Even better than my original Moto G. Which I didn't think was possible. Getting consistent 4 hours of screen on time at 50%. I
Amazed myself. Couldn't believe it. There are so many things that this phone does better than my lg g5, my dad s7, or the iPhone 6 it's crazy. My lg g5 would be dead by the end of the day when I pulled a 14hr day at work (in our hub 5-7 hr screen off YouTube red, than 5-7 hrs of screen on, maps,GPS , googling while driving around). Got home at 7 pm Friday with 40% (I did a top up charge mid day from maybe 65ish to 90ish.....) But still.....
I am once again impressed. Excellent phone. Wish I would have researched phones ...which I will do from now on. Could have bought another Moto with the money I spent on my lg g5 (extra battery, power button, etc)

Usually would get 6-7 hours SOT over 24-30 hours. Heavy user, but where I live has really bad reception for my carrier, so I get a lot of idle drain from the mobile standby.
I use my phone a lot. Web surfing, forums, games, texting, not too many calls. Best battery life I've ever had and this my sixth Android. Still bootloader locked and running stock, I may not even bother to root this one.

I'm currently at 4 1/2 hours screen on time with 46% battery remaining. I can easily get to 8 hours. I'm running the amazing AOSPA Rom right now as well. I stream a lot of music so I could probably get even more screen on time without all the music streaming.
i just got this phone wednesday 8pm and got a full charge in 1 hour, is sunday 8pm, 4 full days standby time plus 5 calls under 3 min each and 5 hour SOT total and i still get 32% battery left, this battery-snapdragon 625 combo is AMAZING, i come from 2016 top phone samsung S7 edge and i love this phone already. just got the best silicon lottery or what?
Tried to see how long it would last lowest I got the battery to is 31% and that had 6.5 hours screen on time. rooted with greenify. Was quite the surprise coming from a m8 getting maybe 2.5, if I was lucky 3 hours
In 2 weeks, I have twice now gotten 7+ hours SoT over a 16 hour period in mixed WiFi/LTE usage, and still had over 10% battery when it was plugged in at the end of the day. My last phone, a Moto X Pure Edition would be on the charger twice to make it though that.
No root, all services running, precise location and location tracking enabled, Google Assistant enabled, WiFI and BT on all the time, auto screen brightness, etc... I do nothing to conserve battery and on my average day I am still at 50% or more when it goes on the charger.
3 months in now and battery still great. Yesterday for example left with it at 65% around 1 pm and got back at 11 pm with still about 30% and used it quite bit. Compared to all phones I've had or seen in my family/friends circle this phone's battery life is amazing.

Hello, in 3 months you only used TurboPower?
Battery in Moto G5 Plus is very good. I usually get 7-8h SoT, but sometimes it increase up to 10 hours.
Completely stock UK G5 Plus here, i get 8 hours no problem.

Absolutely unhealthy to keep your battery draining that long. The longer the period is discharge, more harm to the battery. You should charge it every night, never met it get too low.
If you discharge your phone from 100 to 0% about 300 times, it will lose 20% capacity.
If you however discharge it from 100 to 50% 600 times, it will lose less than 7% of it's capacity.
So charge your phone every night.
Here's scientific proof for those who think I'm speaking nonsense.
