HTC Desire S
Sometimes can access internet via web browser, but sometimes can't.
But the IM tools are always available. I guess because it doesn't use DNS.
So, I run the tool in *#*#4636#*#* run ping test, the result is:
Ping IpAddr: Pass
Ping Hostname: fail: Host unreachable
HTTP Client test: Fail: IOException
Run this test when I can access Internet, the result is all Pass.

I've taken delivery of my new XDA Exec. Yipeee.
I am however having problems getting it to log onto my work ip adress through terminal services client, either via 3G or my Wireless network.
after about 20 seconds I get a screen up saying "The connection to the server has timed out. Try connecting to the Terminal server again".
Help!!!!
Does the computer have a public IP-adress?
I prefer www.logmein.com since you can zoom using it.
hi, yes it is a public IP address.
Hi there!
Maybe I'm just too stupid, but I've benn trying for weeks now to setup the network parameters for my University's Campus network and failed miserably, so could someone please explain to me how this darn "Internet Connection Manager" works?
What I need in brief:
How can I setup a proxy to use with and only with
- HTTP(S) and FTP(S)
for a WiFi-Network that
- is NOT encrypted
- does NOT require dialing a number / accessing a modem
- does NOT use a VPN
??
Whenever I try this it always results in the connection dying completely.
In other words: When I select my standard UMTS-uplink as "default connection for programs connecting automatically" and then manually establish a WiFi-connection I can reach all computers available on the campus network get ping responses and everything, but I cannot use a proxy, hence not load off-campus pages.
When I define a new connection and enter my settings (just WiFi-name and the proxy details) I can still establish a WiFi-connection, but get a ping timeout even on the access point and the intranet servers usually available through the WiFi. No SSH login, no intranet, nothing (but I do get an IP assigned & stuff)
Here's what I would like to do in theory:
=> Manually connect to a WiFi-Network called "tuwlan".
. -open network
. -no encryption
. -IP, netmask, gateway, nameserver etc provided automatically by DHCP
=> Establish a SSH2 (SecureShell) connection to our on-campus proxy server and tunnel some ports to get through the Subnets (extremely restrictive) firewall.
. -SSH including port forwarding done with PockeTTY, works like a charm
=> Use Opera Mobile to surf web pages and FTP Sites through the proxy "localhost:40081" (which is forwarded to our campus proxy server through SSH2).
=> The Proxy only knows HTTP(S) and FTP(S), so all other programs (ICQ, Skype etc) are not to use it!
This setup used to work great with older Opera versions, but they removed the proxy setting dialog in favor of directly using the ICM settings.
So now I'm stuck with Microsofts Internet Connection Manager
Can anyone please help me to get this working?
Greetings. Sorry if my question maybe is a noob question, I don't know... I'm new of the forum...
I have a problem with my mobile phone. Recently I've bought a Motorola BackFlip, which mounts Android 1.5. I'm generally very satisfied with it, except for a very annoying thing: I can't connect to Internet via Wi-Fi.
My wireless network uses a computer connected to Internet by a USB modem; this PC, by a Wi-Fi adapter, is connected to a Wi-Fi Access Point. The other computers which use this connection use TCP/IP parameters such as:
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 (which is the PC connected by the USB modem)
DNS 1: 192.168.0.1
DNS 2: ---
These are the parameters that I use with one of my computers. I tried to insert them in the phone (using, as IP Address, 192.168.0.3, or 192.168.0.5, but with the same result), and although it appears "connected to Untitled (Untitled is the name of the AP)", I obtain a very strange result: I can go on Google, access the Android Market, do searches on Google and use any other Google service (such as Images), but when I try to go on any other site - even starting from a Google Search result -, such as Facebook or Wikipedia, or when I try to use applications such as eBuddy Messenger to access MSN, I can't. It passes some time and then it appears an error such as "unable to access the page".
How can I solve this very annoying problem? I must start by saying that I can't use the DHCP with my Access Point, because I can't set automatically 192.168.0.1 as default DNS and Gateway for any computer connected: my AP doesn't have this function.
Thanks in advance. And excuse me for my bad English, if it is so: I'm a 17-years-old Italian...
how to connect
How to conect internet via proxy local
Hi everybody,
I am tring to debug an android app. I need to pass all the http trafic of my htc desire s through a proxy server( Paros, WebScarab, etc.) that i have on my pc. I need to intercept the http messages.
I have rooted the phone and installed a proxy on it. I have connected the phone and the pc to the same wifi so that they will be in the same network. After this i have put the pc's ip in the Proxy Host: "192.168.1.2" and the port "8080" on the Proxy Port field because Paros Proxy uses 8080.
I cant find a way to do make this work.. can someone help me? Is there another way or am i doing it wrong?
If you just need to intercept messages, why don't you run a sniffer directly on the phone ? There are a lot, and most use the tcpdump binary, that is very handy ! They output a .pcap file that can be handled by programs like Wireshark, NetMiner, ...
Otherwise you could sniff the traffic with a pc that has a wireless card that can be put in monitor mode (old eeepc FTW !). Then filter out only the traffic from<->to device.
If you really need to pass thru a proxy... well, have you tried connecting your own pc to the proxy, or any other pc in your lan? Does it work ? I don't know if Paros has this feature, but have you checked that the relay is open for all hosts on LAN or just loopback connection ?

I had a small quarrel with my stepfather, and then he didn’t let me access the home internet. When I try to connect to our home wifi normally, it says "obtaining ip address" and loops for minutes until it says "failed to obtain ip address." But when I try to connect by setting static ip from my phone, it connects immediately but says " no internet." I assumed he might have blacklisted me, but I am unable to connect even my laptop and other phones. Suspecting that my stepfather had enabled whitelist or MAC filtering, I tried to spoof MAC address using kali linux, but I couldn't connect to the wifi with spoofed MAC. I need internet but my stepfather won't listen to me. Since he is not in home right now and won't return for a month, I don't have a connected device to access the setup page and see the settings of our Digicom ( DG-M342T) router. I am also unable to physically access the router but I have the password( Authentication type - WEP). How do I fix this? I would really appreciate your help.
You could download the router's management app and then view the connected devices list on your phone. Check your router's setup guide to see which app you need to download.

I can't access the setup page by typing 192.168.10.1 in the url or from other Router management apps on the play store. It says " Can't reach the page." I also checked the guide where it says to open admin page by typing 192.168.10.1 on the browser , but there is no mention of any management apps.
Making changes to your router you’d need to know the IP address of the router. A list of wellknown router IPs here:

Thanks for your reply jwoegerbauer. As I mentioned earlier in my post, if I connect to wifi just by typing password, it loops "obtaining ip address" for long period, and therefore I have to set static ip address through the advance setting of wifi just to connect to it. My router's local ip address is 192.168.10.1 . I used to access the admin page before the restriction through this ip address. But now it says "Can't reach the page." The problem is about not being able to access internet and admin page after connecting to the router.
Clear your local DNS cache to make sure you have the recent version from your ISP for 192.168.10.1. For Windows machine, you can do this by going to Start > Command Prompt > Type ipconfig /flushdns and then hit Enter.
Assumed that router's IP really is 192.168.10.1 and it still doesn't work then maybe ISP is blocking it. You may try to use an alternate DNS service such as Cloudflare for example.
I flushed the dns in windows. Now I can connect to the wifi without setting statip ip (in windows), but I still can't access internet. If I try to open any website, it says "
Hmmm… can't reach this page" and then says "You are not connected." I installed cloudflare WARP in windows but it was no use , since it requires internet access to function.
These are the screenshots of my android to explain what exactly happens:
1. When I try to connect to wifi just by typing it's password (loops at "obtaining ip address")
2. Setting the static ip manually
3. Instantly connected after setting static ip
4. Connected but No internet
5. Can't access router setup page
Cloudflare Warp? Confused.

I downloaded an application( Cloudflare WARP) form the cloudflare website linked below. I checked the website you linked and changed the DNS accordingly, but I still can't access internet. My android phone is not even connecting without static ip and I am tired of manually setting it and not being able to use internet.

Well thanks for your help jwoegerbauer. Below is the screenshot of ipconfig command after flushing dns. It looks like I haven't been assigned an ip address, the subnet is different, and the gateway is blank. Do you have any idea what this means? What could be a valid ip adress to connect manually with static ip?
