I am having a problem as well. It will work for about a min with barnicle and with the stock tethering then i just lose internet conection on my laptop says the device is still conected and still have the h+ on my device.
I did recive the blocked or terminated conection on barnicle i rebotted phone it worked for the min then same thing lost conections. turned barnicle off then back on when it started i recived the blocked or terminated connection as well.
Yay! Tethering is working on my phone......only issue is that the radio stays on even after tethering is disabled, but I was at least able to setup WEP security.
How did you manage to get it to work? I have barnacle up and running and see the wifi on my laptop and can connect to it. Only problem is, that I cannot access internet. I don't get any error messages or anything. It just seems to be a local connection and not routed through.
Any thoughts on that?
Thank you very much!
I used the wifi tether version
I had to adjust the settings a bit to get it working properly and to enable WEP security, but I have used this in my shop for over a week now flawlessly.
I added an advanced a task killer to remedy the problem I was having with it broadcasting when tethering was stopped.
The only issue now is that with the settings I am using, tethering starts with errors in the channel config. This doesn't seem to be effecting functionality at all....it just means that I am most likely locked into the default wireless channel.
Hope this helps someone. Thanks to everyone for their continued efforts!
Sorry for the individual posts, but you have to have 8 before you can post an outside link. Assuming that it works, my next post will include the link plus the prior messages in one post so that it makes more sense.
I used the wifi tether version that I downloaded here:

Samsung infuse tethering
I just got my Samsung Infuse to tether
Root the phone and remove the TETHERING MANAGER 1.03.26 APPLICATION
first backup the app if you want
i used superoneclick v1.9.1 to root the phone
I'm running infused 1.5. Whenever i go to new places that have wifi ( password already been saved), my phone won't connect to it, worse thing, when I scan, it won't see the wifi ssid...it keeps showing the previous ssids that it found earlier. After I turn off wifi and turn it back on, then it acts normal again (connects automatically to that wifi). It acts weird again when I go to another place.

I have the same problem, but I'm stock other than root, so I don't think it's the rom.
I recently added access points to extend the range of the two wifi networks I connect to most often. It almost seemed like it wanted to treat the new access points as new SSID's, which I have always assumed was part of the problem. I just haven't had much time to work on it.
I'm using stock Tom and this has been going on since day one.

Any resolutions here? I just got an infuse 2 days ago and I'm having this problem.
Is this an issue with every infuse or should I exchange it? additionally, if its a problem with all of them, are there any custom roms out there that address this issue?
This is a killer for me, and I'm constantly moving around in an office without consistant wifi so I have to turn wifi off and on like 20 times a day to make sure I just use wifi for data. Very annoying.

Same issue here. Seems to only do this at home with a Netgear N600
You guys need to provide more details. Exact roms and your wireless settings and what security the network is on.

No fixes that I have found so far, unless there are some broadcom DHD commits in pershoot's Galaxy Tab 10.1 kernel I can kang. (The problem seems to have gone away with the latest of is kernels for the 10.1.)
We have the same Broadcom wifi chipset as the Tab 10.1 and many other phones - this is a common issue across all devices with that wifi chipset. Some sort of sleep/power management bug in the kernel driver. Broadcom sucks.
I have this same issue with my Infuse, Infused ROM 1.5.3, kernel 2.6.32.9.
Typically I connect to 2 AP's, one is WPA2 personal, and the other is WPA Enterprise, PEAP, MSCHAPv2
I usually need to turn wifi off and back on in order to connect to my saved profiles.
95% certain rom/kernel doesn't matter - hell, device doesn't even matter. If you've got a Broadcom BCM4330 wifi chipset, it'll happen.
It's the rom! I had the same problem on stock Froyo and now I'm on gtg465x's GB 2.3.3 infused V2.1.0 and this problem went away.
Anyone else confirm improved wifi with this rom? Especially the connecting/disconnecting loop?
Note that my last post on this subject was when Gingerbread had only been out for a few days:
It seems that the issue is fixed in the Rogers Gingerbread kernels. I'm actually surprised, since the Honeycomb kernel for the Tab 10.1 is in theory newer but it has the problem. However, even that kernel stopped having problems after the maintainer made a bunch of power management tweaks.
So basically any Gingerbread kernel should be OK.
That means I will have no hdmi and 15fps video capture though, right?
It's the same network that worked fine pre update, now it can't connect to it, I've reset the router, changed network security and it is always stuck at obtaining IP address. IT can connect to my 5ghz network just fine though, but the range for that is piss poor and doesn't extend it to where I need it to.
I am assuming you got the Rogers ics update. I am not sure of what version of ics they pushed out. However I have an Acer Iconia Tab A500 tablet and got the ics update almost 2 months ago. One of the big things is wifi driver and version of ics 4.0.1. Wifi will die off but look connected after the tablet sleeps awhile. The only way around this is to use a shortcut to turn off the wifi and turn back on the wifi. I hope that helps. Hopefully they will push a new kernel out to help correct the issue.

Question belongs in Q&A
Cheers
Yeah it was the rogers update. I'm on version 4.04. My phone was rooted before the update, I don't think it is now. It can't connect to this network at all, it will get stuck at obtaining IP address...dunno what I can do. Not sure what you mean by the shortcut to turn off wi fi.

There's a good shortcut in the notification pulldown. You can also create a (less direct) wifi settings shortcut on a home screen. You might try setting an available static IP using ICS's ../Modify network config.. /Show advanced options.. You would need some familiarity with that network's settings though.
Hi All,
I flashed my phone with Cleanroom 4.5 few weeks ago without any issue. Recently, I tried to enable wifi hotpot/ tethering, an error message says "There is a temporary network problem that prevent the enablemwnt of the Mobile hotspot function. Please retry later".
I try with another wifi hotspot apps, but no luck.
Wifi and 4G, 3G are working fine.
Anyone experience this issue? and how to fix it.
Thanks.
Any of the market apps do the same thing? I tried enabling my hotspot on my Telus HOX and it would work but my tablet would not be able to pull any data. Used an app from the Play Store and all is good again.
this post should be in the Q&A section.
did you flash any mods to cleanrom? flashing the att icons for example might cause this problem.

Thank you for replying.
I only flashed cleanrom 4.5. This rom already changed 4G icon. Not sure that cause issue.
I tried apps on Play Store but still does not work. The apps give wiress signal but could not connect and go to internet via it.
Any ideas?
(From Scott) In 4.5 there is file called CleanMODS under Sdcard. I flashed it to remove the 4G icon and Wifi hotspot back to work now.
Thanks all.

I flashed CleanROM 5 using TWRP and I love it. Without remembering the issue with the AT&T icons and tethering I accepted the icons and lost tethering.
I could not find CleanMODS within the CR5 zip. I have found it in CR4.5.
How do I use it to go back to stock icons? Or can I do this within CR5?
I need a bit of a walk-through if someone could take the time? I have a Rogers HOX, unlocked and rooted.
You have to use generic ics profile for market wifi tether apps to work.
Ok, I see what you meant now but it made no difference.
I've been running CM10 on my HOXL for a while, but I noticed today that I couldn't connect to the wifi hotspot I set up on it.
I've been able to in the past so for the last few hours I've been trying every combination to achieve a working result like it was previously:
tried connecting to hotspot from several devices - none work
tried rebooting ALL devices (including phone) - still can't connect
I can connect to it as long as it's an open network, but this is no good as I want to keep the security on the hotspot
I can tether via bluetooth or I can tether using an app - but I don't want this, I want my wifi hotspot back
I've reflashed from fresh wipe - still can't connect if hotspot has a password
tried both security settings, neither let me connect (but again, open is fine)
I've reflashed back to the stock ROM (Telstra Clean ROM anyway) - this actually works, let's me connect via wifi hotspot with security
flashed back to CM10 afterwards - wifi hotspot doesn't work again.
So basically I can't connect to my wiFi hotspot if it has security applied, while my phone is running CM10 (nightlies)
Anyone share this problem / have any more suggestions to try?

Have you checked the ROM's thread? This may be a known issue and possibly with a fix you can flash.

Yup, been through there and can't find anything (at least through the few dozen pages I've skimmed). Odd thing is it WAS working up until yesterday with the ROM, now it's stopped working. I tried reverting back to an earlier ROM as well, no dice.
I can't post in the thread to ask directly in there either.
Have you been flashing nightlies? The latest updates have been generating new Mac address for your phone when you flash. Its cause several problems. I had to change my router to wepkey access only. Cause I have Mac filters on my router. Not sure if that helps. Good luck though.

Yeah, I read that too. But my phone CONNECTS to wifi fine, the wifi is WORKING fine.
The problem is when I am trying to set it up as a hotspot that the issues are occurring.
To reiterate: it's only when I have security set on for the hotspot that I can't connect to it. (But having an open hotspot is not suitable)
No clue... I just tested hotspot and connected my wife's iPhone just fine. However I had to do a reboot to get WiFi back. They are tied in. Sorry I could be more help.

And security was active in the hot spot?
Yes. Show password. Then put that in my wife's iPhone and presto data connected.

Sorry, just making sure all options were covered.
Just installed 10/7, still happening.
I wonder if it would have anything to do with what radio your on? I all ways flash 1.85 cause it works best for WiFi and I don't have LTE in my area so it works well for my H. Not sure though throwing out ideas for you.

I have the same issue running cm10 so you are not alone. For as often as I use it though its not an issue for me. The chances of someone jumping on to an open AP I roll for 10 minutes is slim. In the end remember, this is a rom still under nightly development so turbulence is to be expected.

I'm used to the turbulence. I was rocking ICS on my Desire which was, buggy at the best of times, but I was pretty tolerant of it.
Have another ROM running on my Nexus7 as well.
Other than this the CM10 ROM is incredible! I'd love to be able to run the hotspot open, but I know it's get milked by everyone around me... I appreciate everyone's help so far, I'll keep asking around and trying different options.
I find it odd it's not happening for everyone, that it's only started happening recently for me (probably after I briefly tried paranoid android on the device, before returning to CM nightlies), and that it works fine again if I use the stock sense ROM (yuck.)

Last radio I flashed was this:
EVITA_Telstra_2.40_Radio_0.20os.32.09.15_10.113.32.28L
I *DO* have good LTE where I am, so I would LIKE to be able to use it...
Cue dumb question: I flash the ROM then flash the radio yeah?
Well, it woul;ld appear I'm not the only person facing this issue at the moment either.
Also appears that CM10 nightly might be having trouble flashing radios... stay tuned.
Exactly the same problem here. Have been dirty flashing the currently CM10 nightly every couple of days and as of 7/10 hotspot (with password) and usb tethering have been broken. Hotspot works fine without security though.. Flashed back to 2/10 and it's working fine, just have to put up with glitchy graphics a while longer
Yup you're right, I flashed back to 10/2 - hotspot works with security just fine.
How often are you checking the updates to see if the wifi hotspot works with security again?
Looks like it's all fixed with the 12 Oct nightly

Use WEP security, works fine, less secure but i dont think someone will wasting time on hacking portable hotspot.

I'm confident that in the nearly 15 months since he created this thread he's probably solved his issue. Please don't dig up ancient threads like this.
