Let's say I want to activate my droid 1, and then reactivate my TB. What's the easiest way to do this. I used to just dial *228 with my other phones, but I know people were having problems doing with since the TB is 4g.
It's a sim and provisioning issue. Since they're different technologies, I believe you're going to have to call. Tbolt to any other 4G VZW phone would only require a sim swap though.

Voice isn't transmitted over LTE so it's more than likely your phone, or you have the wrong network mode selected. If you don't want to be on LTE you need to be on CDMA/EvDo Auto....

Yea, voice goes over 1x. And probly always will, there's just not enough data in voice to warrant anything more.

I am only getting LTE/CDMA or CDMA only, no other choice. I guess I will just keep it rocking LTE and just connect WiFi when I can.

There is an app called lte on/off for free in the market.

Oh, I just set it with dialer codes and I am sure it just a accesses the same menu.

I just spent a week in a 'no LTE' area. I turned off LTE in settings (CDMA only) and had no problems with phone calls.
What does LTE turned off have to do with being able to make a call.
You can take the SIM card out and still make a call.

Not sure but with my phone if LTE is off all my calls close before they start with a message of "Call lost".
Sent by way of carrier pidgeon.
That is not right, if your phone is doing that it is broken, take it back and get a new one.

Actually if you take the simcard out you won't be able to use LTE phone at all unless you want to browse the internet over wifi.

Nobody said data without SIM, just voice, which is accurate. You can still make calls without the sim inserted.

If you have assisted dialing turned off, it will cause issues with trying to dial numbers.
If your numbers have area codes and a "1" in your contacts, they will not work unless you have assisted dialing checked on.

Totally not true. I have yet to have any problems, and I have an out of state number.

At work I only have data reception when using the Verizon PRL. Every else Sprint PRL is fine. So for the past few weeks I have been running only the Verizon PRL... using about 350MB of data. I don't want to get busted for roaming too much.
I also don't want to flash my PRL every day manually using QSPT.
Is there an app or another way to go back and forth between PRL from the phone, instead of connecting it up to a PC?
Try *#*#4636#*#*. Phone Information. Scroll. Down and have a look around. Might help ya ;-)

Ok so I got the Infuse today. Go ME! The screen is sooo much better than my captivate's, if that's possible.
So I take the SIM card out of my old Captivate that I got this time last year. I have the 2GB plan for it. But only now, my Infuse 4g has no data connection even after letting sit for a few minutes.
I did some looking around here at different APN settings and they didn't seem to do anything except cut off my Phone service. Some other people suggested my data plan might not be up to par. But I have a data plan for the Captivate that I activated when I got that phone. Are the phone's data plans really that different that I have to call AT&T to resolve it?
The phone is totally stock, no flashes done to it, hasn't had root attempted on it yet. Brand New out of the box.
You have to call att to have it switched from 3g to 4g I had the same problem they had me give them some numbers and put some numbers in my phone then everything worked.

Ah. Thanks then, that should be easy enough then. Too bad its today though, even the non US tech support is closed till tomorrow.
If u used the sim out of ur captivate u need a new sim because infuse is 4g and captivate is 3g(it makes a difference some over the phone tech doesn't know better). I had this problem

Im pretty sure that dont make a difference. I still use my sim from when the razr was still in att. But anything is possible

Call them and have them switch the data plan. I had the same issue. You don't need a new sim or even add anything to the settings. Its also no price change.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
Yup, happened to me. Switched from a BB Bold, att had to switch my plan at no charge.
You don't have to call and switch...I came from a 3g phone to this one with no issues...you have to put your sim card in you may have to reboot a couple times for it to recognize it....it worked for me
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
press and hold power button ..make sure data mode is on ..(or is this only if youre rooted)?
did you get it through att with a new contract.. they would have sent you a new sim??
i used my new sim when i first got mine when upgrading from captivate.. dont know if old sim worked or not i just switched it when i got the phone.
what firmware came on your phone?? must know!!
Go to settings>mobile networks >apn settings and see if you have an apn ....it may have been deleted by accident...happened on my daughters captivate....easy fix...just add the apn ....

How do I activate the phone if I can't use the number pad to during the activation prompts? I'm sure there's a way,
Not supposed to use *228 to activate phones with sim cards.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda app-developers app
Like the above poster says *228 is not meant for LTE devices, only 3g devices. Did you just purchase the phone? If so, dial 1-877-807-4646 from any other phone to start the activation on your line. The LTE sim must be activated separately as well.

I just reloaded PA because of some glitches and the phone said it failed to activate. I dont have any service at the moment.
What prl do you guys have and who's do u update? My friend and I just got the s3, mine from Verizon and his from bestbuy. I have prl 15119 and he has 14012 but he gets way better 4g speeds.

I will as soon as I can
15145. Though I believe doing the *228 can botch your SIM card. Your SIM should update by itself randomly.

Do not *228. The SIM card does not like that. It will auto update the PRL as iit needs. I hear you can force it by powering off. Removing SIM. Then powering back on. Phone will request a SIM card. Power off, insert SIM, power on and supposedly it updates PRL. I know people were doing that on the Bionic. Many claimed it worked. But i never tried.
