N64oid soon back on market! - Xperia Play Themes and Apps

I have been eagerly awaiting the re-release of n64oid, and the xperia play being the ultimate emulator machine, wanted to let everyone know, N64oid is due to be out this month. Could possibly be a may 26th release, but should be out before the months end. Very close to release anyway.
Source http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-applications/145012-n64oid-expected-return-mid-may.html

Good news.
Let's hope it runs more games and smoother

What happened with the other ones? I can't find Gensoid or Gearoid for the life of me!

This app was so awesome on the nook color + blue tooth with CM7. I can't wait till its released again.

I know he removed one of his emulators as a request from Sega....

Gensoid I can fathom... But Gearoid? Since when has Sega paid any attention to the MS and the GG?
I am quite pissed as I was a very loyal Sega follower and had all their consoles except for Sega Saturn. Now all the games I have from my childhood will be back to the dust... I don't like the other MegaDrive emus and there is no alternative for Gearoid except some retarded emulator which installs its own File manager and demands a physical keyboard.
Enviado desde mi R800i usando Tapatalk

I'm sure the latest versions before it got removed are somewhere on the internet.

Logseman...I emailed Yongzh and he told me to buy them from the website "SlideME." They're both on there, but it looks like they're an update or two old.

None of yongzh's emulators are in the market now. What?

No, they are not in the market! It's really strange. :-(

I just hope this nice emu comes back soon. Or goes the psx4droid way / whatever

N64oid and the others are already in the SlideME marketplace. You can grab it here: http://slideme.org/

Yonzgh has now had his developers account suspended by google :S wonder whats going on

All updated and a final release of N64oid soon!
http://slideme.org/en/applications?text=yongzh

If the consoles and games are no longer for sale why not allow people to use emulators. If they wanted to release the games in proper packs at 3-4 for a dollar then people would buy them. I have the Atari app on my iphone but won’t buy the games because the packs are one good games an 2 or 3 crap games. Or all the same game but different versions.

They are still for sale, such as through Nintendo's Virtual Console.

Seems that Sega has complained. Given that I don't see any game under the Sega brand right now in the market, I can only fathom that they will release some of their own and they want no competition in the shape of GameGear and Genesis old games.

[Q] Animal Crossing on the Xperia Play

Is anyone here a fan of the Animal Crossing series from Nintendo? I definitely am and I started trying to figure out if there was a way to play one of these games on my Xperia Play. After doing a little research, I discovered that the original Animal Crossing started off as Animal Forest, a Nintendo 64 game released only in Japan in 2001. In 2002 it got ported to the Gamecube and released for all regions. I have a rom of the Nintendo 64 version that had been patched for English and actually got it to load in N64oid! Unfortunately, it crashed when K.K. told me to set the game clock. Bummer! I wonder if there are any patched versions floating around that can get past this first road block, or if there is some way to set the clock in N64oid that I can't seem to find.
Is anyone else interested in playing Animal Forest/Crossing on their phone?
Don't speak of roms. You will be killed.
Yeah I defiantly would! Loved that game!
N64oid is on the SlideMe market now for android, and is being updated soon with very high compatibility.
Lets hope that includes Animal Forest. I tried running Animal Crossing on the DS emulator earlier but it was so slow that it was unplayable. It would be nice if Nintendo and other developers would recognize the potential of the Play and create their own android stores where they could release some of their older titles that could easily be optimized for the Play. I would gladly pay $10 for a perfect port of Animal Crossing.

No, not really. What I'm saying is that developers are missing a major opportunity by not releasing android-friendly ports of successful games they've created in the past. The nostalgia factor alone would drive the majority of sales.
The idea that Nintendo would voluntarily share revenue from any of their ip's with anyone is, well... Let's just say it will be a cold day in Hell.

Sounds to me like the emulator doesn't support the real time clock, necessary to emulate animal crossing...
Here is more info the real time clock, sounds like Animal Forest is the only game on the N64 to use the clock...

I wonder if this RTC patch only pertains to specific emulators. Worst case scenario, I think I could live with setting the clock whenever I played.

the device is a few months old mate, just wait and the big names will come, you will never get nintendo games on the play but rumor is that sega plans to bring alot of retro games to android, word is, it was sega that got all the emulators taken off the market
Sega is not unfriendly towards emulation. They hired Steve Snake, one of the guys behind one of the most popular Genesis emulators for PC, to emulate some of their classics for PC release in the past. Doesn't mean they weren't the reason the emulators got taken down, but just something I wanted to point out.

I used the japanese version of rom and got past the initial train ride but then crashed at entering village. N64oid should be getting that engine update anytime now. This is also my# 1 game for n64oid. Just a note, you can swap gamesaves between english version and japanes by changing gamesave file the same as the rom of language choice.

I just tried the Japanese version and got the exact same result. Man, this sucks. How cool would it be to play this game? Pulling weeds, finding classic Nintendo games...

anyone tried this on v2.0 of N64oid?
I've done the same. N64 looked playable but when I got to that dog it asked me to set the time. So I pushed x or o something a bunch of times.. and it worked. But when I got on the train the game looked terrible and it wasn't showing text input/responses and the textures were spazing out and changing colors. I'm sticking to harvest moon on my snes emulator.

HO****! Order & Chaos Online Xperia PLAY Optimization was stealth released!

If you've been bummed about having Gameloft tell you not once but TWICE that O&C was Xperia PLAY Optimized... then downloaded it only to find that it wasn't... rejoice!
I don't know when they did this because no one's said anything on the Gameloft forums (not even the mods), but while re-installing everything for my fresh new 2.3.4 flash, I re-downloaded O&C from the Gameloft WAP Store, and noticed O&C was showing up in the Xperia PLAY Game Launcher
...of course, I got so excited that I had to see if it was for real... and it is! Video incoming soon.
As a basic rundown, left touchpad controls movement, right touchpad is camera, X button is jump, []/O//\ control your primary functions, L/R toggles the page of functions, select brings up the map, start brings up a quicklist, and the d-pad controls targeting/NPC interaction.
If you bought it from the official Android Market instead of the Gameloft WAP Store, I can't guarantee yours will work right because Gameloft tends to have outdated stuff on the Market.
At any rate, we finally have the best mobile MMORPG playable without crappy virtual controls!

Are you able to see it in your download history ("My Downloads" section on the WAP shop)? If not then just contact Gameloft for the APK. Calling them is a good way to get prompt service, but if you wanna do things via e-mail, they're good about sending the most up-to-date APK for your device (given that you provide proper proof of purchase).

Final Fantasy III released... with no Xperia Play support.

Final Fantasy III on Google Play Store
I was so excited that I bought it instantly. I already have this on my iOS4 device... but I'm really worn thin of putting up with gaming on that 3:2 dinosaur... putting it on Xperia Play would've made me care less about the PSP remake that would suffer from upscaling on Vita!
...unfortunately, the screen size seems to only consider 800x480 res, and there's no Xperia Play controls. How much 'ya think we'd have to bug them to get physical control support? You'd think touch would be okay for RPGs, yet we have Eternal Legacy feeling 5x better with physical controls, and I really don't feel like stepping down from that.
Are they sh!tting me!!! $16 bucks for it! If it had xperia play support I would possibly consider it, but touchscreen only at that price.... screw it...

I understand if you guys are disappointed by the price tag and little optimization. But at least it's available for everyone now. This is just one step from having Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and the other Squeenix games available on Android in the future!:fingers-crossed:
Price probably will go down in time. Still not too bad for a indirect port of the DS game.
I am a little surprised the game even runs on the my touch slide 3g. How long as this been out in Japan?
Screen shots look good too. The wonders of better resolution than the Nintendo DS.
anyone tried this with Gamekeyboard?

OOT: anyone knows how to configure gamekeyboard for it to continually press the X? Macro?

If it works with Gamekeyboard I might consider it... want to see SE bring more stuff to Droid but... the controls thing really blows
I bought the game. If you consider the price for the DS version and the content you get out of it, it's not too bad. Plus the iOS version is the same price wise.
2 questions though. Where are the savegames located? Because I have also the Nexus S and I don't always have the Xplay with me.
And most importantly: The language apparently is the same as your device language. Which is german for me. Can I somehow force english language just for the game without having to change the device language? I have root.
Found it, there's a save.bin in this folder.

[APP][2.3+] SmartGear for Android nearly ready...

I created SmartGear for WinCE a long time ago and have recently been working on an Android version. I'm nearly ready to release it to the market. A few more bug fixes and I'll post a free version. It supports the following systems:
GameBoy / GameBoy Color
GameGear / Sega Master System
NES
Genesis
TurboGrafx-16
Coin-op (a few titles such as some CPS1 games)
It currently supports direct connection (no other driver/software needed) to the following bluetooth wireless game controllers: Zeemote, iControlPad, SteelSeries Free, MOGA, and BGP-100. If you know of another "non-HID / proprietary" bluetooth gamepad that needs support, let me know and I'll add it.
Please send me requests for coin-op titles you would like me to add. This is my own code (not MAME), so I may not be able to add all of the games you want. I've written code to support about 320 titles and need to modify it to work in my Android project. So far I have 41 working. If anyone would like to beta test it, please let me know.

Things are coming together nicely. If all goes well I will have it in the market by the end of November.
I have the following idea for monetizing the app. Please voice your opinions if you think this is reasonable. I will use admob and have a small banner ad on the main menu page (not visible while you're playing a game). I will also have an in-app purchase option ($1.99?) to disable the ads. This seems like the least annoying way to do it.

Killer Instinct is not likely to happen due to it using 2 CPU's that I haven't yet emulated.
Marvel vs Capcom is more probable. I've got CPS1 emulation working and CPS2 isn't that different (except for a security feature I think).

If the revenue is sufficient from this, then I'll be able to add more games and systems. Right now I have a full time job and can't dedicate hundreds of hours a month to working on new emulators. I've got about 320 coin-op titles working on my PC version and am slowly refactoring the code to work on Android. So far I've got about 50 titles working. I'm going to use your feedback and my own preferences for deciding which games to emulate. I haven't tackled the issue of sound sample files. I support them, but I need to create a system for allowing users to download and use them with my emulator.

I'm trying to get my SNES emulator working properly which is difficult enough. PSX and N64 are very unlikely. This code is all written by me, not stolen from public domain projects. I was thinking of adding a TRS-80 Coco emulator, MSX, AtariST and maybe Amiga. Everyone can vote on which of those systems is more important (and more coin-op titles).
I've finally gotten the artwork ready and only a few more bugs to fix. I might even get it on the market by tomorrow if I get time today.

I actually LOL-ed. Surely they don't condone piracy do they?
Anyway, please anyone with Xperia Play would you kindly share your experience with the emulator?
I am especially curious about people with stock ROM and NO overclock, just your standard Xperia Play (which I happen to have). Does it support hardware buttons? Thanks.
Its based on the sources from mupen64 ae+ and as this is licensed under the GPL the features of this emulator will also be in the next release of mupen. So unless the dev screwed up it will support buttons and touchpad. Buy this app if you'd like to support him.

If this emulator is based entirely on mupen, it is almost guaranteed to be slow...it doesn't even work properly on computers, I personally hate that emulator. Unless someone creates/editys an amazing dynarec recompiler like youngzh. There is no way i see this emulator as being able to move full speed on xperia play devices...
Also, on a side note, why does no one include sound compression in emulators like these. Sound compression goes a long way in increasing emulation speed. Just burns me every time the option isn't included in emulators. :/
