HTC EVO 4G Wallpapers site...sneak preview. - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Hey guys, I'm putting together a website dedicated to mobile wallpapers for various devices that I own.
After searching the internet for a good site, I have yet to find one that meets certain criteria and almost all of them have wallpapers that don't quite live up to expectations:
-them being too big
-them being too small
-them not being quite the right size to accommodate Android's strange "crop" window you receive after selecting a picture you want to use.
I'm aiming to fix that by having wallpapers designed with Android in mind to not only accommodate the crop window, but also allow you to select and use the entire picture.
I'm still in the process of getting everything running smooth, and there's still some performance tweaks, theme settings, and configuration settings that need to be addressed but eventually I'll get there. I also hope to have a mobile version running soon, so that you can access from any Android device.
This site will also allow guests/registered users to upload their own wallpapers and will automatically resize them according to what album you upload them to.
Anyway, check out the sneak peak here: http://www.freeza-inc.com/walls

Looking for a good 'Word' Game

Guys,
I'm looking for a good 'Word' game for the TF.
Not one like Scrabble or where you have to re-arrange a group of letters to form as many words as you can.
No, what I'm trying to find is one where you are first presented with a collection of letters in a large block and you then have to tap on each letter to form a word. You are then given a score for either the length of the word or the type of letters used.
As you tap away and a word is formed, the remaining letters above drop down the screen to replace the ones you have used and are then replaced with new ones from the top... if you get my drift.
I don't like timer's as I like to take my time, pause if I want or come back to a previously saved game.
It's a bit of an ask but can anyone recommend such a game?
You're describing the Dropwords game almost exactly (it does have a timer).
There are free and paid versions on the Android market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.eekgames.worddrop&hl=en
Regards,
Eric
Perfect Eric... Nice one.
When you said it had a timer I very nearly gave up on it as I don't like timers, I like to take my time and save so I can come back later.
However, because you took the effort to post I should take the effort in trying it out.
I'm very pleased I did because on loading I immediately noticed you can select a variety of speeds for the timer..... including a 'non-timer'.
Also, you can save the game and return later.
Perfect Eric..... perfect.
Good suggestion....it's a lot of fun...but it's not optimized for tablets...it would be even better then.
@Beards,
You're welcome. It's one of my favorites.
You actually helped me out - I never bothered to check out the timer options.
Thanks!
@rpavich,
It may not be optimized for tablets, but it works great full-screen on my Transformer.
Some time ago, I was also looking for a similar game (on a different OS). So much so that I made my own, which seems to fit your criteria. The name is Wordsler and is available in the Android Market (I don't have 8 posts here, and apparently not allowed to place a direct link yet).
It's got a non-timer mode, a 2 minute timer mode, and an online mode (where everyone gets the same sets of letters within a 24 hour period).
This is just a spare-time hobby, and I'm not great with graphics, so it's nothing fancy or shiny, but I think the gameplay works quite well.

For anyone else, here's a direct link to the game Silkswift mentions.
I had a quick look at the two pictures shown of the game on The Market. It wasn't much to go on but I downloaded and installed.
Unfortunately as soon as I went to run Wordsler it then asked me to download two sets of libraries.
Nothing is mentioned on either The Market or your developers Web Site of these libraries being required so to anyone not knowing what these are or what they do, I think most people will then do as I did which was to close the App down and uninstall.
If Wordsler is going to need additional files to run you do need to let the downloader know in advance and explain why they are needed and what happens when they are run.
HI Beards, thanks for checking it out. My apologies for not mentioning the additional libraries here. The description in the market does mention them at the beginning (with a few stars for emphasis), but it probably could use a better explanation. The extra libraries are part of the android-qt project (port of Qt apps to android).

Yes, going back to The Market I see you have now added the information on the libraries required. You also now mention it may be better to install over Wifi.
This is a good call and another reason why you needed to mention the additional libraries in The Market link.
It would also be good if you stated the actual size of the additional download. That way the installer knows full well what to expect, which in turn makes for a happier user of the software.
Although I don't think it is what I am looking for (I prefer a much larger rectangular block of letters with actions similar to that of Dropwords).
However, I'll give it a try for you. Will report back later... have a very busy day ahead.

Good game dude, i'll rate it on my computer since we can yet on market. Like said previous, you have a lot of extra sceen, so bigger blocks would be great. It would also be nice to have "Validate" button up with the words, and maybe a "Clear all" for quickly deselecting all, but that doesn't really matter. Thanks for the free DL!

[APP][2.1+] Sprite Studio 0.1.9a

Hi everyone,
just wanted to show you guys a new app I've been working on for quite some time.
When I started the project I was working on a real-time-strategy-game for android, but creating all the assets took me so much time, that I soon began looking out for good spriting- / pixel-art- / painting- program for my mobile device in order to be able to work on my sprites when on the train or somewhere not in front of my home-computer.
As I was pretty much disappointed with what the market had to offer (no offense against the creator of pixelesque: that app simply didn't exist at that time), I started work on an own program.
It took me a very long time to actually get the app halfway done (because I have been very busy with university and other stuff) but a few days ago I finally released a first version of it and since I am working very hard on improving the app wherever possible.
Youtube announcement video: youtube.com/watch?v=gbw-I6Z-1w0
The app on google play: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.subgate.spritestudio
If you guys like spriting/pixel-art please check out the app, I'd love to hear your feedback/wishes/suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
Features I'm already working on:
- Color palettes
- Mirror-Painting-Mode
- Layer
- Onionskin for animations
- Spritemap autopacking
Nice App / UI could be better...
Hello isam2k,
first of all i would like to let you know that i really think this app is great and you have several fantastic ideas in there. Nice work :good:
From a UI standpoint i think you could improve the overall experience.
For example the Create New Picture pop up dialog. Wouldn't it be nice if you'd offer 3 Icons for (32x32 / 64x54 / Custom)
Users could instantly choose one size and it would take away from making to much decisions out of the box.
I have tons of ideas for you wonderful app. If you like you can pm me.
cheers
David
@Neosushi68
Thanks a lot for your feedback. If you don't mind, just post your ideas right here, maybe others will have good ideas as well and so they can immediately see what already has been suggested.
Offering pre-set sizes as well is actually a good idea, definitively a feature I am going to add (maybe not with buttons but with a spinner offering some presets).
Ok just had a force-close-report from a user. If you guys try out the app and a FC happens, please do not forget to send the report, this helps so much.
If, for some reason, you are unable to send me the report, then please post me the following information here:
[Device][ROM],
[ErrorMsg],
[Random error/Error in response to interaction]
[If interaction -> Describe last interaction]
[If random -> Describe app state (open dialogs, etc)
Thanks in advance.

Ok was really busy but I finally uploaded Sprite Studio 0.2.1b. This update basically introduces palettes and also comes along with some bugfixes.
If run into problems when using the palette editor, consider watching my tutorial video first:

Microsoft Surface RT Videos (Reviews, Tips, Apps)

Hi all,
I am starting a series of videos that will look at every aspect of the Surface RT tablet. I do reviews on different aspects of the device, basic tutorials to learn how to use the device and app reviews on the best, most useful and free apps.
I have previously done very successful videos on the Asus Transformer Prime (150 videos) and the Nexus 7 (100 videos) but I see this as being my biggest project to date since Windows 8 is such a radical departure from previous version that I'll be posting many videos as I learn new and interesting things. Here are a few videos just to give you a flavour of my work.
I am literally scratching the surface (every pun intended) of this device and will be kicking out a couple of videos everyday for a good few weeks. I'll be updating this thread regularly. I hope you find them useful, entertaining and informative.
Thanks in advance,
vgjfelix
Cool - Couple of comments.
On the Tile Screen, if you drag one app way to the bottom, it will also shrink the size of the start screen overall, making it easier to drag long distances accross many groups. I am finding this crucial, since my start screen is getting really long - over 70 apps. Which brings me to my next comment - Hopefully MS or a 3rd party developer will come up with an option to group tiles into folders as you can do on Ipads and Android, as app management is going to be an issue with the current layout and no ability to group into folders
Regarding the charging cable - I am surprised you made no comment how tough it is sometimes to get the magnetic connection to seat properly and start charging even though it appears to be connected - I think MS failed on the design. Apparent in your video when you are using 2 hands to get it seated correctly. I had heard this can be fixed by filing the sharp edges of the connector but have not been brave enough to do it yet.
Other than that - Good job - Keep them coming . .

Thanks for the comment. Thanks for the app drag tip. I am learning just like everyone else at the moment so whenever someone tells me something like this I think 'this needs a video' so I'll probably do one about it.
I have noticed since doing the plug review that is it a little tricky to connect up the charger. I might bring this up in a later video.

Two more videos here.
First of all I know this review is completely out of number sequence, I just wanted to put this one up as soon as I did because this topic is important to me.
Font sizes. Once again another tablet fails to deliver when it comes to giving us the freedom to set font sizes how we would like. That's what we do a lot of the time with tablets, and you can always resize fonts in books readers. So why doesn't this extend to apps and the tablet (and I'm talking about tablets in general here) eco system as a whole. Well one app in this video proves it is possible with a brilliant feature.
And the second one: here begins my App-Snack videos. First one is a simple live clock and date tile:

If you use the legacy (non-Metro) control panel, you can adjust the DPI to enlarge text and everything in the screen. However, this may push the display below the minimum resolution to use metro-style apps.
This video is a quick test about using the tablet in a confined space:
Today is a quick look at an odd problem with the youtube reply button on the browser.
Just in case you didn't know. You don't have to get an official HDMI cable:
This is a video about some of my first impressions tile arrangement on the start screen:
This one is a quick look at the lack of uniformity when changing settings. Why is the same option accessed by different methods.
Another quick look, this time at frustrating experiences of the App store search function (am I really doing something wrong?):
As I start to get a grip on this operating system, more and more Basics tutorial videos will start to come out. In this one I look at the offscreen swipe gestures (on the startscreen).
Another quick look, this time at my shrinking storage:
Another quick look in this one regarding High Contrast Mode:
A look at an excellent Tech news app that's arrived early on Surface RT
A guide and impressions of the app store in this one:
In this video I show you how to quickly move tiles around your startscreen,

[Free]CardCloud Flashcards Study App

Hi, I recently took an Android Development at my school where I made this Flashcards Study App.
There's still a lot of work I want to complete before I call it finished, but it's a good start I think. I still want to add more quizlet functionality to it (since quizlet.com doesn't seem to have an android app yet.)
Download the App!
Some features:
* Offline Mode to study on the go without an internet connection.
* Adjust card flip speeds in the settings menu
* Long press on a deck to view options
* Shuffle your flashcards
* Search Quizlet to access millions of flashcard sets.
* Edit, Delete, and Create new flashcards with a breeze
* Text-to-speech integration
* Multi-language support
* Identify your strengths and weaknesses by keeping track of how well you know a card.
* Reverse Question and Answer sides on cards
* Improved UI
EDIT:
I attached an apk that you guys can use since I can't seem to post a link to the play store.
Or alternatively, You can search for "CardCloud FlashCards" in the play store to get the official app.
I'd recommend it since I'm planning on pushing a lot of new features in the upcoming weeks.
Thanks!

Hey. Sorry. It doesn't seem to let me post links since I'm a new member.
Here's an uploaded APK file you can use in the meantime
Or you can search for "CardCloud Flashcards" in the play store if you want the official version.
Thanks for trying it out!
Definitely let me know if you run into any problems.
So far nice ui
Works good. Is it possible to share own decks with friends? It would be amazing, also an option for read only and read write permissions for shared decks.

Thanks for the compliments!
Sharing is definitely a feature i'm going to be adding in the feature. Right now i'm torn between integrating some sort of facebook social network to allow for easier sharing. I've been busy trying to learn Ruby on Rails Development and Android Dev at the same time, so the cardcloud website is a bit lacking at the moment. But Sharing is definitely a big feature I want to implement.
Currently I'm in the middle of adding an ability for users to mark each card as easy/hard and then creating an infinite shuffle that will have a smart algorithm to show difficult cards more often.
That should be about two weeks out, and then I'll start working on the Deck sharing.
Great suggestion on the Read/Write permissions too! I think that would be an awesome feature, I've written it down on my notepad, so definitely stay tuned to this thread for any updates I make!
Thanks for trying out my app!
Redesign Icon
Hey buddy I think this app is great for studying and for group activities. Love what you have done. I also like the UI I made this icon for you just cuz i like messing around with Photoshop haha hope you like it

Hi. Great app. Is it possible to manually edit or create a set on a PC and transfer / open / import into the application?
A quick way of implementing this might be to add CSV or XML export and import?
Perhaps a link up to Google docs for cloud storage and on line editing?
Also, would you consider the addition of images on the flip cards? Perhaps a HTML format would make this easy to implement? A picture paints a thousand words and all...
Keep up the good work and I hope its a great success.
Steve.

Opening a quizlet with images renders nothing visible on the card
Steps to reproduce...
1. Search 2010 Honda Cars
2. Select any of the results
3. See the text (e.g. "2010 Honda civic") but on clicking the card to see the flip side - there is nothing.

CardCloud - Flash Cards
CardCloud,
Great effort thus far ... you've added the ability to create card sets! This is HUGE.
Some tips I hope you're able to fix in the coming updates, please.
1. Settings - there should really only be on 'settings' button for the app (the vertical elipses button; top right/bottom right corners).
2. Logon - should be a little more clear "what" service the logon pertains to.
- I thought the ability to logon to Quizlet would work with this ?? I'm an Android newb and I've already realized things are "assumed/presumed" to be known to new users, which its not clear on many applications or the OS itself.
3. KEEP the "skip logon" this is critical and I've come across many notes type apps that I cannot even create a note when in the subway because they require a persistent internet connection = total pain in the ass and useless! You've got a good thing going with this "skip logon" ability please KEEP IT Much appreciated.

Thanks! I'm planning on adding that feature pretty soon. Right now I'm on the verge of adding support for marking cards as either correct or incorrect. Also I'm adding in an in-app purchase to remove ads. I've also been working on the website portion of my app (cardcloud.net) which will allow you to upload your local decks onto a website (once you create an account) once it's uploaded, you'll be able to export from the site.
That's still a work in progress, hopefully in a week or two, I'll have that ready for you.
In the meantime, you can expect an update for marking the correctness of each card in the next day or two!
Thanks for the compliments, and thanks for trying out my app!

Hey! Supa_Fly, thanks for the kind words.
I really like the idea of the skip button for logins. The reason the login is there is to allow users to sync their decks with the website portion of the app. (CardCloud.net) But I've been busy working on the app and haven't had a chance to get the webapplication completed yet. Hopefully in the next week or two You'll be able to backup your local decks/cards onto a website, where you can save them on a computer.
The settings functionality is a bit confusing, so I've done a bit of tinkering with it to make it more intuitive to use. Thanks for the suggestions though! I really appreciate the feedback.
In the meantime, I'm working on a v1.2 release which will allow users to mark cards as either correct/incorrect/half-correct/etc, to help with remembering your learning progression. Keep an eye out for that. Hopefully I'll be able to push that up to the google store by tomorrow. I'll also update this thread once that's complete!
Thanks again for trying my app!
Hey. Just uploaded an update to the current App on the Appstore.
Some New features:
* Identify your strengths and weaknesses by keeping track of how well you know a card. Mark a card as Correct/Incorrect/etc
* Reverse Question and Answer sides on cards
* Improved UI
* Settings AutoSave when changed, rather than having to hit a save button
* When Viewing a Deck from Quizlet, download the deck directly from the cardview for your convenience.
* Change your settings (flipspeed and question/answer reversal) from the cardview.

Hi, my girlfriend wrote out 20 sets as study for her exam on Wednesday. Her phone updated your app and it seems her card sets have been deleted (or lost). :crying:
Is your new updated version deleting user inputted card sets?
I'd greatly appreciate a quick response if you have a way to retrieve them.
PS, where are the card sets saved? In files (what location in phone)? Perhaps we can retrieve them manually?
Thanks, Steve.
Hey sd00, I'm really really really sorry that happened.
I found a bug in my code that was clearing the sqlite DB on updates.
I fixed the bug, but unfortunately it looks like her cards have been wiped.
This is embarrassing, I'm a noob and didn't realize that would happen.
There's nothing I can do, but promise it won't happen again.
For what it's worth, If I sent you guys an ad free version of that app, would that help?
Again, I'm really sorry, let me know what I can do to try to make it better.
I'm working on the ability to create decks online and then sync them to your phone, so hopefully that'll make it easier in the future to recreate the decks.
(If you'd like, you can even send me the questions/answers and I'll type them back up for her myself.
if you pm me an email address, I can send you an apk for the free version too.
Again, I apologize for my noobness.
For such a new app - this was an unforeseen mistake by the developer. The fact that he's VERY apologetic and this app does offer some great features over the competition I'll still support this app!
As experience is gained and more testing directly by the developer we'll this app continually excel and grow in feature sets and less bugs. Not many people appreciate developers' hard work and even less developers are as humble as this one.

Hey Supa_Fly, thanks for the kind words and support! It's been a lot of fun working on this app and I've learned a lot from the experience. Hopefully as I improve, so will the app. Sorry again to sd00 for the bug. I spent a few days testing and retesting to make sure it wouldn't happen again before I pushed up the newest update this afternoon.
I've been working on the syncing functionality the last week or so and I got it finally working the way I wanted. Not 100% yet, but allowing users to create their decks online I think is a necessary feature, since writing out individual cards on a phone is a pain. I'd like to tweak it a bit to make syncs work faster/better, but I'm slightly limited by my web server since it's a bit slow. Hopefully if I can generate any revenue through the app, I'll be able to put it towards faster servers. I'll keep an eye on the bug log to make sure nothing goes awry though.
I've pushed the new features up onto CardCloud.net allowing users to login to their accounts and create their cards online. Also, I uploaded the app updates to the google play store so users should be able to get the updated app with fixed functionality. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up this time .
In the meantime, I have a couple new features in the pipes that I'm working on that I think should improve the app. Hopefully I'll be able to get these pushed out in the upcoming weeks:
- Image support for flashcards. Definitely a top priority feature, should have an update for this within the next few weeks.
- Rich Text Editing. Another top level feature I want for the app.
- Better Quizlet integration. Search for usernames, and returning public decks, recently studied, etc
Anyways, sorry for the wall of text. When I get new features implemented for this app, I will post them here.
Development stops?

Crazy idea..

Alright, so without going into too much unnecessary detail, we've got a backend (Golang, Postre), and a web frontend (Angular) that, among other things, displays a horizontal grid of images (4 per screen).
The plan has always been to, once we complete the backend and web frontend, hire devs for the apps. And we still intend to do that - for Android, iOS, Windows and even Glass, but.. The other day I had a crazy idea.
I've always loved programming. A LOT. When I was in junior high I learned how to build websites, and have been hooked ever since. Last year I updated my knowledge of CSS/HTML, and coded for the first time in probably a decade.. it was AMAZING. Incredibly incredibly addictive - you feel like you are creating something ALIVE! It's an incredible feeling..
Yeah, so the crazy idea..
I thought that, just for starters, I would try to get the Android app running myself.. Now, mind you, I have never done anything programming-related outside of HTML and CSS, and certainly have never made an app, but.. I figured.. all I need to start is a horizontal grid of images, 4 per screen.
And you just scroll horizontally, and click whatever image you like to maximize it. That can't be hard, right? That's all I need to start - later I can add the menu, etc. But to start.. I just need to pull those images off our backend, right?
And then in the future I can enable adding images, swiping, voting, sharing, whatever - but one step at a time right.
And then once I no longer have enough time to dedicate to the app and it grows too big, I'll pass it on to a mobile dev, along with the iOS and other apps..
So.. question.. if all I'm looking to create is a horizontal 2x2 image grid that pulls them off our server.. how do I do that?
All depends on your server. recommend looking into post and get http protocols on android. as for displaying the images. this might be what your looking for https://android-arsenal.com/details/1/186 if not, just check on other parts of that site. it would have everything a beginner will need.
