Finally, good russian developer beshkenadze created widget that disables keypad backlight..
1) Requires root
2) Keypad backlight is enabled back when you suspend and resume Galaxy Tab
3) Works for about 30 sec first time, don't worry.. It will ask for root permissions at that time. After that it works immediately..
Take it from
Android Market Web
Awesome, works great!
Turns off backlight okay.

Now if.someone could just find a way to link it to a button, and make it turn on and off. We would be in buisness. I know it doesnt turn the lights back on yet.
Or, after it is able to turn lights on and off, link it somehow to the touchscreen.

Otherwise, it works!

I agree. The widget needs some work, it is rather unattractive as it is right now. I didn't even understand there were 2 sides to the widget until reading this thread.
IMO, it should be more like the Power Control widget. A toggle style button.

Delete widget and add again.. That's bug in launcher, widget shows as 1x1 after update, but it is 2x1 now.. And shows two normal icons..
Ah, I see. I would still prefer a 1x1 toggle style widget. Eating up 2 home screen icon spaces for something like this is a bit much.

Added button to change ringer state: Silent, Vibrate, Normal
NOTE: You cannot change ringer/notification levels with the widget if ringer state is in Silent or Vibrate. You will notice the icons fade out.
Enjoy!
Hey everyone. I developed a small widget to quickly change volume levels for media, ringtone, notification, and alarm. I find myself wanting to turn media volume on/off all the time, and I couldn't find a good solution in the Market, so I made my own.
You can download it from the Market. Just search for Mission Control. There is an SD version (G1, Hero, etc), and an HD version (Evo, Nexus, etc).
If you guys find any bugs or have suggestions for it, just let me know. This is my first Android app, so please be gentle.

Nice, could you use some iPhone icons by any chance?
Nice handy little app. I just downloaded from the market and put it on one of my panels. I like the three level toggles. this will be great when at the theater or a meeting and want to turn everything off really quick.
Thanks for the app!

The control panel is non-functional at the moment. My plans are to use it to allow a user to fully customize a button to do anything they want, along with choosing any icons they want as well.

I looked around for some good iPhone-style icons, but couldn't find any that I liked. I'll continue to search and see what I can come up with.
Only other thing I would like to see, is when you press one of the toggles that it changes your phone settings to vibrate, silent, etc.

Awesome man, that's perfect. Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of the carrier label altogether . Any ideas? BTW, how'd you change your font?
I use the liberty 1.5 rom, it has a bunch of options for fonts and lets you change the carrier name out to whatever you want. So far its been very stable for me and much quicker than stock.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Yeah, I saw the font options, but I'm not sure what adding a font does.. for instance, what'd you do in the toolbox that sets the widget font?
And I'm not talking about changing the text, I'd like to find a way to remove that whole bar, 'cause it just takes up space. I think you can do it in stock.. it's called a "roaming banner" i think
Changing the font effects all the text, everything from Widgets to menus to even the text on most websites in the default browser. It even changed the font in my clock widget. As far as removing the carrier label on the notifications I'm not sure how to remove that waste of space. I never looked into it but now since you mentioned it it's bugging me too. Let me know if you do find a way to remove it.

You long press on the home screen and select add widget like you would when adding a widget to the home screen, select widgetsoid then select a switcher widget. Pick the options you want it to have then go to the advanced tab and select both notification and make invisable. Click apply and it should now show up in the notifications bar. If you want to edit it just open widgetsroid and it will be in the widget tab. Hope this helps.

Have you been able to figure out a way to move or resize the clear button yet? I really wish I could move it to the bottom of the notification bar. Better yet, I wish there was an app/widget that automatically cleared all new notifications. Been looking for something like that for months without any luck...
After flashing the brilliant MIUI rom, i decided to check out the stock launcher. It is one of the smoothest launchers i've used on my infuse other than Launcher Pro, however i was disappointed to be confronted with a I-Phone like home screen experience where all the apps were hanging around willy nilly! Hence i found a simple solution to the problem and it is only 2 steps .
Instructions:
1.Put all of your apps into a single folder except for the ones that you plan to keep on your home screens.
2.Download Alt Drawer and put it in your dock. This will now be your app drawer!
There you go its as simple as that! The experience is almost identical to other launchers.
However to add an app from the app-drawer, u must close the app drawer and grab it out of your folder where you stock-piled all the other apps.
Hope this helps someone...first thread on XDA hope i dont get yelled at
Here is an implementation of what i'm talking about:
My home screen with alt-drawer being the right most app on my drawer
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And on this screen you can see alt-drawer when opened up.
Also i forgot to mention earlier, alt-drawer is very very customizble.
You can change lots of settings
(i.e Background transparency, icon size, font size, font color, side-side scrolling/vertical scrolling, hide/show notification, orientation etc)

Looks like a nice addition. I was just throwing all my apps in one folder and sticking it on the dock. Works basically the same way, but not as customizable.
Nice, thank you I may just try Miui now because of it my friend lol.

Many of you having been asking me to post some flashable zips of the RAZR M launcher I modded for CSROM.
Well, I finally got off my lazy butt and did it (sorry for the delay!).
The launcher is from a different device (Motorola RAZR M) and different Android version (ICS), so there is a little lag.
But that is a small price to pay for the awesome circle widget!
There are currently two versions available: with and without the persistent search bar.
While I was able to remove the search bar, I have not yet been able to recover the real estate.
Six other apps are installed which are required to make the circle widget fully functional.

Hi everyone!
I made a replica of the watch from the pause menu in GoldenEye 64 for my SmartWatch using an app from the Play Store and 3 simple .png files.
Thought I would share in case I wasn't the only person who thought it was kinda cool haha!
The app you need is this... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kaybit.smartwatch.customwatch&hl=en_GB
Then download the attached .rar file, unpack and copy to somewhere on your phone. I copied them all over in a folder so that once it was all set up, I could add a .nomedia file to the folder so the files wouldn't show in the Album.

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
[Tutorial]
Im sure you can all work it out, it's quite simple but just in case you need a little guidance here it is
Install the Custom SmartWatch app.
Once installed open its settings from your SmartWatch app list.
Tap on "SmartWatch 2 Settings".
Tick "Custom Ananlog Clock"
Tap "Create Custom Analog Clock"
Tap "Backgroundimage", search for the GoldenEye Background.png file and open it.
Tap "Hourhandimage", search for the GoldenEye Hour Hand.png file and open it.
Tap "Minutehandimage", search for the GoldenEye Minute Hand.png and open it.
That's it, however I also opened the "Battery Settings" and ticked "Activate Low Power Mode" so that the screen dims to grey scale to save power. You can have the watch display in colour all the time but the battery will last less than a day.
This app will automatically open itself on the watch if left idle so it replaces the stock clock app, and you'll still receive your notifications. Just tapping the screen will bring back the colour and light, pressing the home button will exit out to use other apps. You'll have to get used to doing that instead of pressing the power button like you would with the stock clock app because this is technically a running app and pressing the power button on the watch will close it and bring back the stock clock.
Enjoy!
[UPDATE] After using my GoldenEye design for a few days I noticed that when you tap the screen to make it light up again to read it and show the colour of the background, it took quite a few seconds. After contacting the developer of the Custom SmartWatch app and talking to him over the last couple of days, he has been amazing and updated the app to better support this kind of design.
The app now has a few more options under "Battery Settings" and if you enable "Monochrome Mode" and the "Faster Screen On" settings, the clock will still dim to grey scale saving battery, keep the background visible but will light up a lot quicker after tapping the screen. Feels far more responsive!
Credit to Kaybit for his awesome app!

If you need an idea... How about a Star Trek LCARS style watch face!
This is AWESOME! Is it possible to use a digital clock display instead?
I installed it, it works when I tap the screen, then it goes to low-power mode for half a second, then blank screen. What can I set so it stays in low-power mode?

Maybe you need to uncheck Monochrome Mode in Battery Settings?
