auto delete old sms

I think my inbox for text messages is full because I am getting an error message saying there is not enough memory to download the incoming message. Is there any way to set the phone to auto delete the oldest messages when new ones come in? and is there a way to get the messages that couldn't be downloaded? The only thing i have been able to find is someone said go to the messages tab, click all messages, then menu - tools; and at this point I get lost because there is no tools option on the pop up menu screen.
Look up SMSCleaner in the marketplace, it does what you want for only $0.99! I'm glad someone finally made an app like that

Text message notification ( speech to text ).

I used the search but could not find an answer to this question.
I went in to check out the Captivate today and messed around with it for some time, I used my phone to send it ( store demo ) a text message and when it received a message the speech to text screen would appear on the home screen ( also in notification bar at top, along with normal text message notification ) and it was simple to just X it out but I could not find a way to turn it off.
So simply put is there a way to turn this off or does this appear every time you receive a text message?

Yes you can turn off the notification by going to the Messaging app/Setting/Notification.

Cool thank you.
I am new to android and have figured out alot on my own, but still have a ton to learn.

unlock directly to new text

is there a way to unlock the phone and go directly to a missed message? It seems the only way is to put the messaging app as a lock screen shortcut, then drag that to the circle, but this doesn't go to newly received messages, it just goes to a list of all your message threads
I'm also really curious about this. I don't think we can go directly from the lock screen to the message itself, from what I've tried.... Anyone else more familiar with Sense 3.0?

[Q] How to see gtalk notifications but NOT message text

Hi,
I've been trying to disable talk application to display text of incoming messages (security risk), while still being notified when new message arrives. Not an option . You can either disable notifications for good, make them pop up (even worse) or have it as it is by default: showing you a line of text from last message you received.
I installed trillian IM hoping it would have the option I need, but with no luck. I'm perfectly happy with talk app btw, but lack of this option is simply plain old stupid.
Does anyone know how to resolve this or some other IM messenger that I could use instead, which has this nice little option?
Cheers

[Q] Text messaging issues

Hi everyone! My incoming text messages are not showing up. After I click on them from the messaging screen, they disappear. So, unless I'm looking at my phone and can read the preview - I lose my messages entirely. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas to get my text messages working again?

Hey there .
First of all , are you on stock ? What what model ? And most importantly , are you sure you have enough disk space for them ? Make sure you're not running out on that . You might want to check if the "Delete Old Messages" is ticked in the SMS app and see if it's not accidentally set to a low number .
