Text message notification ( speech to text ). - Captivate General

I used the search but could not find an answer to this question.
I went in to check out the Captivate today and messed around with it for some time, I used my phone to send it ( store demo ) a text message and when it received a message the speech to text screen would appear on the home screen ( also in notification bar at top, along with normal text message notification ) and it was simple to just X it out but I could not find a way to turn it off.
So simply put is there a way to turn this off or does this appear every time you receive a text message?

Yes you can turn off the notification by going to the Messaging app/Setting/Notification.

[Q] Notification Screen Flash App?

Seeing as that the Captivate does not have a notification LED, it sometimes becomes a problem noticing new notifications. I just want to know if there is some kind of application that would flash the screen for a few seconds or so when the phone receives a new notification. I remember my iPhone doing that and it would be cool to see Android phones doing the same.
Look in the development forum for captivate, there is a thread doing this exact thing
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
No, I know about the red dot on the screen thing. I dont really need that and besides, I believe it kills battery. I just want some app to turn the screen on for a few seconds when I get a notification.
Maybe go to the noled thread and see if he'll add that feature
my screen does flash when I get a message. It pops up in the notification bar and shows two lines of the message then shuts off.

It does this when it is sleeping?
I just tested it. When its locked and the screen is off it revives itself when I get and MMS or SMS. For emails it does not.
handcent sms will do it when you adjust the settings for the popup menu
Oh, maybe it only works for SMS and MMS notifications only. I would like the screen to flash on for every notification (Gmail, Feedr, AIM, etc). Kind of like how the iPhone worked with push notifications.

[Q] 5.0 notifications on screen

Is there any way to stop notifications from showing on the screen so they can only be read through the pull down from top menu? Either that or instead of showing the actual messages just have it show something like "WhatsApp New Message"
I'm not talking about the lock screen.
Apparently this is an app issue, WhatsApp and Hangouts display a banner when a message is received, haven't figured out a way to disable them yet though.

Text Pop up window

Is there an app or any way so when you receive a text or otherwise on the Gear 2 Watch, a partial of the text displays immediately, without you having to click on it first then go read the text in full, so you can handfree read the text first without having to click on it?
Similar to the pebble, that directly displays the text, instead of just a notification you have a text.
Install Android Wear, you can open the message with your wrist. You turn your wrist quickly up and it opens the message.
The latest version of the Android wear has pretty much everything working except camera and calling via the watch.
Screen always on battery life is 2 days for me.

Go to Gear Manager...Notifications and check Preview Message
It will show the person texting and the first few words in a text or the whole text if it is just a few words. It also displays emojis as well on the initial screen without touching it. Once you tap on it, you will get the full text, message, video, etc.

Text message, missed call notification on the banner problem

This has just started and my OCD is driving me crazy trying to figure it out. For the last year or so everytime I would get a text message the preview would pop up and go away if I didn't choose to view it or close it. Then there would be a envelope symbol on the banner indicating I have an unread text. Now all of a sudden the same thing happens except that the envelope indicator only shows while the pop up window comes on. Then it disappears at the same time as the pop up. So if I unlock my phone I no longer have any indication that I have a missed text unless I go to my home screen and look at the message icon at the bottom of my phone. This is also happening with missed calls. Any ideas?

Text Messaging Preview

So I can't find an answer to this....
When I first got my S8+ from Verizon I was able to see a preview of text message while using the phone. Updated phone a day ago and now I can't seem to find an option to allow preview.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the tip but I meant in terms of actual preview of the text contents.
For example: When I first got my phone and my wife text me "On the way." I would get a banner on top of the screen showing a text from her with the sentence as well.
Now I get "New Message" and I have to open it to see what the message said. I have it blocked on lock screen which I have changed to show just in case that was the issue and it didn't fix it

EDIT: Saw your update.
It's in the actual Messages app prefs. Tap Notification and then turn on Preview message.
