This is the Official UK FOTA with root added and the Recovery/Boot update removed. These will not work on a non UK Device. I plan to add updates from other locations so if you have these official FOTA's available, please pm me.
I haven't changed anything else in the update so future upgrades should in theory work with this rom.
Install this with cwm and enjoy the new features that the FOTA update brings without having to worrying about losing root. This rom will only work if you are running the stock rom that the transformer came with. This will only install on top of the previous firmware update and will fail if you are using any other rom.
Root is not required to install this rom
Thanks to MoDaCo for the custom recovery that makes this rom possible.

any way u can get a sys dump for us?
like use root explorer and just copy that sys folder and stuff or ADB?
No need for me to do this, as someone already did.
You can get it from this post here:

Good work on the deodexing btw.
thanks man a full rom will be up tonight o and i found this guy and his pet tree in GalleryNew3D.apk
just so we can have some laughs.
Great work. Can I flash this over the Modaco rom?
i dont think so i think u would need to delete app and framework in the system folder then flash my rom
ill be working on the recovery once i get on to help out on the scripts
im uploading a fixed rom go to my topic and u can post there since we r getting OT here.
Thank you for taking the lead on this. We - the new Transformer user base - are in your debt.
My unit, one of the first in the US release, is on its way to me from PC Richard. I'm hearing that it's likely to update its firmware automatically on switch-on. I'd prefer to use your update with root built in, so my questions are:
1. Is there a way to block the auto-update on a new Transformer - e.g. by not setting up its Wi-Fi till I've installed your rom? Or will it update from a version stored in its flash memory regardless?
2. If it is possible to block the initial update, will installing your rom prevent the official OTA from taking place afterwards? Or is a subsequent clash likely to occur?
3. The MediaFire link isn't currently working for me. That's a first! Do you have another link?
Thank you again for all your work.
if u want my rom was based off this just deodexed and a few things were fixed to use less ram etc. if u flash my rom the OTA wont happen. because it will already think u have the latest running since u would.
when the next OTA comes out when it trys to install it will fail most likely just like all other rooted devices.

Thank you for this. So the deodexed rom (V.2) is the latest ASUS firmware with root?
yes everything about it is in the op/changelog area and i will keep that up to date

The current clockwork is a "soft" recovery - i.e the physical recovery image isn't overwritten.
Therefore, assuming with the new roms you can still use the same clockwork recovery you can backup pre-flash ("factory") flash the new roms. Any issues, boot back into recovery and restore from the Nandroid.

The Transformer it's a very good device... it's a pity that honeycomb is still so... experimental!
Anyone else getting 403 Forbidden error from MediaFire when you actually go to download FOTA2.zip?
New links added...
Also, I've tried searching for this, but haven't found anything yet. Maybe you can shed some light. In my build.prop, the fingerprint shows US_pad instead of WW_epad, so it doesn't pass the checks in CWM recovery when I try to update using your ZIP files.
I'm guessing the US_epad signifies that it is the US build, and WW_epad is the UK build? My transformer came with build 20110325, and System Update says that there are no updates available.

I figured they would be different, If anyone can get me the US updates from /cache I can mod these and add these to my first post.
Somehow I don't think the US version has updates pushed out yet. I keep hitting Check Update and it always comes back no updates available.

NOTICE
The method described is now obsolete.
Thread closed.
The only suggestion I would have is to make ClockWorkMod compatible directly with ASUS ROMs (previous and new format: patches + BLOB), as the previous idea is both inadequate or extremely inefficient.
Original first post:
Hi fellow Transformer adopters
After writing an Asus firmwares repacking tool for personal/dev usage, I repacked some official Asus ROMs in ClockWorkMod recovery update.zip formats.
Uploaded here on my server:
http://dl.project-voodoo.org/transformer-roms/
Those are unmodified but rooting is automatically applied in the flashing process without requiring manual intervention.
What's flashed:
- Everything (Kernel, system, additional stuff)...
- except of course the recovery, this way you keep your previously installed custom recovery.
What's needed:
- Only requirement: any custom recovery capable of flashing unsigned standard update.zips, like this one
- As long as the custom recovery is here, there is no prior-rooting requirement.
Requests to repack missing ROMS are welcome if accompanied by download links.
Happy flashing ^^
Hi, I'm new to Asus Transformer, but these are 3.0 ROMS? Do you have 3.1?
And am I correct in saying, that if I flash old 3.0, I can then get clockwork mod on there, and then flash one of these to get a stock ROM but rooted? (I'm guessing I would need SuperUser.APK to install).

repacked-8.4.4.5_US+root-CWR-update.zip is a 3.1 ROM.
May I rename the files for faster recognition?
And yep that's the idea. Once you get the custom recovery, you can flash any ROM this way.
The lack of proper flashing tool is really annoying but those ROMs are here to make the whole rooting+flashing process a bit easier in the end for most people.
i'm slightly confused by what this does.
i see that these are stock roms with root, however does that mean that, if you are on pure stock 3.1 and you flash your rooted 3.1 rom over it. we then get a 3.1 rooted rom without wiping everything?
or is it a case of it will root the rom but wipe everything? or will it just not flash over a stock 3.1 rom?
thanks for all the help!
I would like to understand this more too. I want to root my 3.1 install and add custom recovery. Well the recovery first then root!
As long as the custom recovery is here, there is no prior-rooting requirement.

How does one install CWM without prior root?
Putting on CWM and then flashing a prerooted room seems like a very easy way to get root if there is a way to just install the CWM apk.

That's what I'd like to know. I'm on 3.1 now, and I understand how to downgrade, root, install CWM and re-upgrade, but that's a lot of effort if this really requires no previous root.
I believe these packages make it easier for you to go from rooted 8.x.y.z to rooted 8.x.z.z, without having to worry about CWM getting overwritten. It doesn't help you root.

So I'm running 3.1 and dont want to downgrade to root and I have heaps of stuff on my tf,dies these mean 3.1 Rom is rooted ?

I have a quick question:
I downgraded from 3.1 to 3.0, rooted, and installed CWM. When I rebooted I was rooted with the superuser app. I then installed the repacked 8.4.4.5 rom linked in the first post and rebooted. After the reboot, I no longer have the superuser app. How can I tell if I'm still rooted?
**EDIT**
I confirmed the ROM linked above for 8.4.4.5 is indeed rooted. I was trying to use titanium backup but it kept failing to gain superuser permissions. You'll need to manually install superuser (and busy box) from the market after flashing this rom.

There are rooted 3.1 roms avaiable yes. To use them you need custom recovery which can only be
install if you're rooted. So you have to downgrade first to gain root then upgrade bck to 3.1 rooted rom.

I don't honestly know. I just searched for superuser app in the market and downloaded and installed it normally. After you install it, you actually have to open the SU app first in order for Titanium Backup to work. Here's the app I installed:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.noshufou.android.su
This is the version that came installed in all the roms I've ever used on my Captivate, so I figured I'd give it a try. It worked for me!
Before installing SU, Titanium Backup was unable to gain superuser permissions. Everything I've mentioned is what I've done after installing your repackaged stock rom for 3.1 and nothing else.
Oh that's right, I don't install Superuser apk correctly, I'll fix that.
So far the most important is that su binary is there already, this is the hard part
Does that mean you're going to repackage the repackaged firmware?
If so, would you recommend I reflash your new version over your previous version?

Here's a stock rooted clockworkmod update for 8.4.4.11 WW users who want to upgrade to HC3.2 8.6.5.7
8.6.5.7_FOTA_WW_root_rec
MD5: 74522fb41d4a61c518814532a4d04332
I've included CWM recovery packaged with the new recovery kernel so there should be no issues getting into CWM after updating like there was with my US update.
This is not for users of custom roms. STOCK only.
Also, any changes you have made to the system folder will likely cause this to fail so you may need to edit the updater-script file to suit your needs.
Can this do pure root only for 3.2ww??
There are two pre-reqs:
1. You have to be running 8.4.4.11 WW
2. You need to have CWM recovery
Meet these criteria and this is for you.
Can't get it, login and password needed.
Also anyone know how to kill the Asus updates? My rooted 3.1 stock is asking me to update!!!
Oops, Link fixed.
After installing this just attempt the update, it will boot you into recovery and fail, then the popup is gone.
Thanks, updated fine, and the attempted update cleared the update. (Had to long-press Off to turn the tablet off after the failed update).
Is there a way to remove/disable the Asus update checker in stock rooted roms, so I don't have to do that again?
Sure, just use a file manager to rename Dmclient.apk in /system/app

I'm guessing it won't work. You will have to flash a full rooted stock ROM via clockworkmod, then the incremental update(s) all the way to 8.4.4.11 (WW), then this...
Each of these seem to be a patch over the previous, and all the files are CRC checked, if any of them fail to match, the update won't proceed.
Since the update, i'am unable to play a HD videos .... :-(
Allthe time i hear bad remarks and comments for 3.2
what do you guys believe?
to upgrade or not?
im on prime 1.6 still but no problem with anything.
I am at pure rooted Stock WW 8.4.4.5 ROM. How can I get the Stock 8.6.5.7 the easiest way?
Thanks a lot

This is a full rom for stock(ish) 9.2.1.17 and includes the following:
9.2.1.17 US bootloader and kernel/boot.img
modded recovery based on Roach's 3.2.0.1
Superuser
su binary
busybox
adb enabled, ro.secure=0 (if you previously disabled adb, it will remain disabled, unless you wipe data)
The updater script will also clear cache and dalvik cache.
Plus, if you flash now, it will also fix the cwm recovery bootloops by writing zeros to the first 80 bytes of /misc (/dev/block/mmcblk0p3)
I was lazy and the progress bar in recovery does not udpate- it is a full rom so it does take a while to flash.
This is pretty close to a rooted stock experience. It isn't for everyone, but I think some will find it useful. I thought this would help out people who get in in a pickle by flashing various roms and ending up with unbootable systems, or people who tried a few other roms and want to return to a more stock experience. I think a custom recovery is safer with a rooted rom so that flashing via recovery is still available. This should still receive OTA updates, but they will probably fail to flash because the build.prop file is different (ro.secure=0 and adb). This rom will flash in situations where doaist's CWM friendly updates will not. As a matter of fact, this rom will probably flash on any version of cwm/custom recovery that can read it.
The recovery is modded- it is based on Roach's 3.2.0.1 and only sees the external sd card. I used Roach's ramdisk, but used the the inits, fstab, and ueventd files from the stock recovery. This recovery will seem identical, but you can look at the default.prop to see the difference. In future versions, I might change the version number in case there is any confusion.
NOTE and WARNINGS:
This is for the TF101 US only. The fingerprint checks are removed from the updater-script so it is up to you to know what you are flashing. (Don't flash this on your phone! and if you do, don't say a word and act like your phone is still working.)
This will overwrite your recovery. You can flash it back to something else after a reboot.
This will overwrite your bootloader/EBT. This might have unintended consequences so flash at your own risk. The stock OTA updates the bootloader, so this is why I included it here.
Flash at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damages or consequences.

Yes, they both update the bootloader and recovery. The recovery is based on Roach's 3.2.0.1. You can flash a different recovery after a reboot if you want to change it.
The stock recovery is too limiting with a rooted rom- it's practically useless actually since it won't always restore if changes have been made.
Updating bootloader really means what in practical terms? I am intending to flash this but this bootloader stuff makes me wonder...

The bootloader gets updated with the OTA so I left it in to stay with the rooted stock experience. The bootloader I included is the one asus includes with their update. I'm not sure if other roms will be expecting older bootloaders. I think most nvflash versions use the oldest bootloader still, and I don't know if this will cause any issues. I don't foresee issues with other roms and kernels, although I did notice I had to wipe data completely to get some of the aosp roms to boot.
As I said, this is directed to someone who wants root and a more stock rom. You can edit system to debloat (and reinstall if you take too much out )

They are out there. For compatibility, I would suggest also flashing the kernel/boot.img and maybe even the bootloader. You might get bootloops otherwise, but it's just a theory.
I thought ASUS has the stock roms on their site, but you have to mod them for use on CWM or mod CWM to flash them. They are bone stock so unless you mod them, you will lose root and recovery.
edit: the stock roms generally won't flash through cwm because the mounts aren't all there. Rogue might work, but it's just a guess. You also might be able to mount the staging partition through adb and flash the stock roms.
This ROM is HC 3.2.1 and have a kernel (this is just an example), can I just flash this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1251044
And the bootloader for HC, is it download-able? Flashable?
Asus might have the full roms on their ftp site. There are HC roms on their download site for the tf101, but not all countries. The OTAs will have the bootloaders in them usually.
I'm weary about flashing different kernels and bootloaders. I suspect that they cause bootloops, but it's just a theory. It might be wrong.
