I know this is going to be at least useful for me, and anyone else that is familiar with wget. That's why I got it working for the EVO (and soon for the Xoom). If you are familiar with the linux system, you should know what the wget command is ;-) Below is a screenshot to show it works.
You must be rooted to use this.
Instructions:
1) Download zip file below to your SD card.
2) Boot into recovery and flash the zip.
3) Reboot
To use: (I will make this a easier process in next update.)
1) Open any terminal emulator of your choice.
2) type "su" without the quotes
3) type cd system/app/wget
4) type wget http://xxx.com/filename.extention
and watch it download! (as shown below)

Haha ;-) Glad you like it.
Yeah compiz would be neat haha -- trying to port this to the Xoom as well.
I am working on a .sh that you will be able to kick off once you load up terminal so you can use this wget tool without having to CD into directories at all. I'll probably have this up by the end of the day.
Let me know if you have any questions
I'll try to play with it when i get home today, if i have time that is.
I just did a successful wget on my rooted evo and I don't have your files installed.
Busybox 1.18 allows this feature already...no need for extra files.

Very true. Thanks
You know what, I can make this a regular zip for SD card, so NON rooted users can use wget. ;-) doubt it will be used as much, but w.e ;(

so this is a boot animation that I modded out.
I don't know who originally made it...I'm assuming cyanogen? (my buddy gave it to me)
Anyways, I really like the original but it doesn't fit my current setup (froyo 2.2)
As soon as cm6 comes out I'm back to it.
2 ways to install...
bootanimation zip- do a adb push
nexus-froyo-glow-robot zip- just flash from memory card
I recommend nandroid just in case something goes wrong or you want to revert back

Where can I get some information on HOW TO create a boot animation?
I'm somewhat graphically abled and want to make my own.

there are two ways to do it...the zip folder style requires signing (but way easy to install)...read up and download sdk
making a bootanimation.zip is pretty easy (just harder to get on the phone)
I suggest downloading what I posted and dissect them...you basically need a bunch of sequential .png pictures (110-130)
this has pretty good instuctions http://www.droid-life.com/2010/04/13/how-to-create-a-droid-custom-boot-animation/
if you do it this way search "adb for dummies" and you will be set

Sleeps?
Very nice script, but why did you add all those sleeps? At least make them 0.1 s or less, it takes ages to get started...
Also, you could use the result of the read calls to do yes/no confirmation in certain areas.
Thanks for posting!
Wow this is great. So will this enable me to put a generic rom onto a branded Desire, without rooting?
Surely its not that easy lol

Just make a goldcard (search Google) and then run the scriptand you will get rid of all the rubbish your network put on.
I added all the sleeps in so that noobs would actually read all of the info and warnings.

Status: Deodexing the framework followed by apps.
I remember when people were calling BS at this... guess they've all been proven wrong?
Seems that's just an sdk to build apps for specific phones, so that cannot help "general android" atm....
K so theres a whole LOTTA depedencies in here. From their launcher to their non-launcher integrated apps, all have shared libs. I give up lol. For those wanting to give it a shot.
Download the zip. Extract it. Unyaffs system.img
Take framework/apps deodex them (use auto-deodexer)
Then try to figure out the dependencies. Btw, to deodex their launcher/home, u gotta add webwidget.jar to the classpath. Good luck

yea ophone is a pain in the ass. search this thread for it, someone a long time ago (a year +) made a rom that actually booted, but it had messed up graphics. cool to play with though... but even so, it's hard to port. I've tried to port it myself, and gave up.

CM6-snap-psfreedom v1.0
This kernel incorporates the psfreedom module from kakaroto's github. It is a very basic .32 kernel based on snapv7.5. There are no performance enhancements, it's simply designed to load the psfreedom module and let you do your thing to your PS3. This is a CM6 kernel. It will not work on non-CM6 ROMS.
I don't know anything about this hack and will not offer any type of support for it. One of the Snap beta team testers confirmed it works--that's all I know.
To enable psfreedom, the USB channel denies access to ADB, so you will not have access to ADB with this kernel installed; therefore, I highly recommend you have a zip of CM6 or a nandroid backup of your current configuration on your SDCard.
Known Issues
Breaks adb access.
Not intended as a daily driver, no stability/performance/battery tests have been performed. This is a temporary kernel to provide access to psfreedom.

Reserved just in case.
nice work mate as always, but thing is freaking Sony already forced updates that will break this. grrrrrrrr
it worked as late as last night. ??
Thanks jmxp69 + snap team, appreciate the hard work.
Yes, thank you. I just stuffed a 320 gig hd in my 1st gen ps3 and am ready to roll is this works.
CM / Snap Powered
Quick question, can you just
Code:
# modprobe -r psfreedom.ko
and start adb back up? What exactly is breaking adb? Would this be able to be switched on and off with a toggle?
will be keeping an eye on this. Good job.

No, the usb breakage is hard coded in the driver. I'm sure it can be done, but really, there's not much point in bothering with it.
Doubtful you'll see much development with this kernel, it's a one trick pony.
UPDATE: AdbWireless works with this kernel for all your adb needs.
If you don't know what that is, here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/08/20/awesome-app-for-rooted-users-adbwireless/
So, still no working ADB when in recovery or anything like that, but you can still have adb with a wireless network.
EDIT: Is this a Backup manager working version?

Hi
as icons of the bat we were left wanting to change something else, I have been trying since and this is the result, as has always been mounted on the Gb Wolf_Xperia_6 rom 2.3.3 for anyone that interests you, do not know if may use other rom, I hope your comment to know that it works or not, it's my first job, so do not be too demanding.
to install you have to be root and have xRecovery, so we'll have to restart the terminal and start the xRecovery, once on the main screen select Partition tools, and here we selected (which see) Mount / Mount System and / data , and we look for the Install custmer zip the folder where you have previously saved on the SD, installed, we went to the main screen and Reboot phone, a few seconds (can be a bit more than usual lake) the new taskbar appear, and you're enjoying it.
