CM6-snap-psfreedom v1.0
This kernel incorporates the psfreedom module from kakaroto's github. It is a very basic .32 kernel based on snapv7.5. There are no performance enhancements, it's simply designed to load the psfreedom module and let you do your thing to your PS3. This is a CM6 kernel. It will not work on non-CM6 ROMS.
I don't know anything about this hack and will not offer any type of support for it. One of the Snap beta team testers confirmed it works--that's all I know.
To enable psfreedom, the USB channel denies access to ADB, so you will not have access to ADB with this kernel installed; therefore, I highly recommend you have a zip of CM6 or a nandroid backup of your current configuration on your SDCard.
Known Issues
Breaks adb access.
Not intended as a daily driver, no stability/performance/battery tests have been performed. This is a temporary kernel to provide access to psfreedom.

Reserved just in case.

nice work mate as always, but thing is freaking Sony already forced updates that will break this. grrrrrrrr

it worked as late as last night. ??

Thanks jmxp69 + snap team, appreciate the hard work.

Yes, thank you. I just stuffed a 320 gig hd in my 1st gen ps3 and am ready to roll is this works.
CM / Snap Powered

Quick question, can you just
Code:
# modprobe -r psfreedom.ko
and start adb back up? What exactly is breaking adb? Would this be able to be switched on and off with a toggle?

will be keeping an eye on this. Good job.

No, the usb breakage is hard coded in the driver. I'm sure it can be done, but really, there's not much point in bothering with it.
Doubtful you'll see much development with this kernel, it's a one trick pony.

UPDATE: AdbWireless works with this kernel for all your adb needs.
If you don't know what that is, here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/08/20/awesome-app-for-rooted-users-adbwireless/
So, still no working ADB when in recovery or anything like that, but you can still have adb with a wireless network.
EDIT: Is this a Backup manager working version?

Sleeps?
Very nice script, but why did you add all those sleeps? At least make them 0.1 s or less, it takes ages to get started...
Also, you could use the result of the read calls to do yes/no confirmation in certain areas.
Thanks for posting!
Wow this is great. So will this enable me to put a generic rom onto a branded Desire, without rooting?
Surely its not that easy lol

Just make a goldcard (search Google) and then run the scriptand you will get rid of all the rubbish your network put on.
I added all the sleeps in so that noobs would actually read all of the info and warnings.

[TOOL] Android Injector

CHECK THIS LINK TO UNLOCK THE "Unknown Sources" OPTION ON YOUR NON ROOTED ANDROID PHONE
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107499
Now you can install apps on your Android powered phone or device without having to get them through the Android Market.
Android Injector allows you to quickly and easily install apps that you have downloaded to your computer in the form of ".apk" files onto your Android phone or device. Some phones do not allow you to install apps from any other source except the Android Market. However, some app authors do not release their apps to the Android Market and elect to put them on other sites such as Getjar.com. Android Injector allows you to download apps from those other sources to your computer and then install them onto your phone from your computer quickly and easily via USB connection.
Just install the USB drivers for your phone or device onto your computer (check your carrier or device manufacturer for drivers), connect your phone to your computer via a USB cable, select any amount of Android app files (.apk) and click "Install to device". No rooting or any of that complicated stuff.

Very cool app! I like it!
Awesome!
Awesome app! Thanks!
Would be awesome if it was available for Mac/Linux
This app is superb!!!
But please, make a shortcut on the context menu, when right-click over an apk file on the explorer... please.. make it... it make the process so much more simple...
Does it work on Nook color?
Sorry to ask (or someone will say try it) but if it does this would be an awesome achievement and a reason to keep the stock format on the nook color and get all the other apps you want with the new update. Great job on your app it looks great and reviews speak well of it.
I love it!
some doubt
hi,
good work BUT i think that the same thing could be possible with a simple shurtcut to a batch on which you drop one or a group of APK files....
I use that method...
Dude, nice! It even has drag&drop function! Really nice work, thanks
Good work! Highly appreciated.
I do have some questions and comments:
(1) what's the method behind this? How exactly does it work?
(2) are you aware of any legal or technical side effects from using this method?
(3) does the utility support any command-line parameters? If so, it'd be negligible to add a shell option to interface with Explorer.
Thanks again!
Does this alleviate the need to push an .odex file?
This is nice, might come in handy, Great work!!

[flashable] wget feature in terminal

I know this is going to be at least useful for me, and anyone else that is familiar with wget. That's why I got it working for the EVO (and soon for the Xoom). If you are familiar with the linux system, you should know what the wget command is ;-) Below is a screenshot to show it works.
You must be rooted to use this.
Instructions:
1) Download zip file below to your SD card.
2) Boot into recovery and flash the zip.
3) Reboot
To use: (I will make this a easier process in next update.)
1) Open any terminal emulator of your choice.
2) type "su" without the quotes
3) type cd system/app/wget
4) type wget http://xxx.com/filename.extention
and watch it download! (as shown below)

Haha ;-) Glad you like it.
Yeah compiz would be neat haha -- trying to port this to the Xoom as well.
I am working on a .sh that you will be able to kick off once you load up terminal so you can use this wget tool without having to CD into directories at all. I'll probably have this up by the end of the day.
Let me know if you have any questions
I'll try to play with it when i get home today, if i have time that is.
I just did a successful wget on my rooted evo and I don't have your files installed.
Busybox 1.18 allows this feature already...no need for extra files.

[KERNEL][CM7/SENSE][GSM/CDMA] Kernel with mac spoof capabilities

I added functionality to the bcm4329 driver, which allows you to spoof your mac address quite easy.
The driver wil try to open /data/local/mac.dat and read the mac address from there.
So if you want eg. your mac address to be 00:41:41:41:41:41 you do this via a shell:
Code:
busybox echo -e \\x00\\x41\\x41\\x41\\x41\\x41 > /data/local/mac.dat
After changing this file you need to stop/start your wireless connection so that the driver reads the new mac address from the file.
If you want your original mac address back, just delete the file.
I'm planning to create a simple app for changing the mac without using the shell.
I'll upload the changes i did to github asap
Comment and bug reports are welcome !

Spoof your wireless mac address ...
thanks, i will try it tomorrow after flashing a cm7.
yeah it works. first really working method for me.
tested some mac-spoof-apps before on bravo but they didn't work at all.
the only thing i don't understand: why there is no interest at all in this modification?

that's good in airports, where they give you only 15 minutes free, change the mac and start over.

Could you possibly do this for the CDMA CM7 Kernel?
Is this just a build from CM7 source with just the addition of the mac spoof capabilities? Or has it some other improvements?
Thanks for the work... but I'd like to see it in ManU kernels as they give me much better performance and battery life than original CM
The changes are in my github. Cant be much work merging them into manu

Great job! It works like a charm on my CM7.2.0 RC1
Could you also port this to CM9 (as in BCM RC2.2) or to Sandvold's ICS?
Nice work worstenbrood !! Thank you
Works like a charm.
If it can help someone, modified bcm4329.ko for GingerVillain 3.3, stock kernel.
Code:
strings bcm4329.ko | grep vermagic
vermagic=2.6.38.4-defrost-bravo+ preempt mod_unload ARMv7
Backup your bcm4329.ko ( /system/lib/modules/ ) and replace it with this one.
are there any additional features in this kernel?
Hey, Could you add this to the Manu AXI CFS kernel? Would appreciate it a lot if you could

Real ICS Dialer for CM7.

Layouts have been messed up, this is still in developing mod. Please don't use for now.
Many of you who have tested ICS, would have definetely liked the ICS dialer.
Well, Guess what? It's now available for CM7 too!!
Phone.Apk is attached.
Please Follow the Instructions well, because I've tested it and it has no bugs whatsoever.
Installation Procedure:
Copy the file in the root directory on your sd card.
Rename the file to Phone.apk
turn on airplane mode.
Make sure ur system partition is set to R/W mode
open terminal from your phone.
type the following commands, one by one.
su
cp /sdcard/Phone.apk /system/app
chmod 644 /system/app/Phone.apk
reboot
Now, when you place a call or receive one, You will have the ics like dialer.
NOTE : You need to enable in-call touch UI. To enable, go to Settings > Call Settings > enable In-call touch UI.

Make sure you have followed the terminal emulator way properly, and your system needs to be in R/W mode. Try testing it, by someone calling you and accept. If you have in-call touch buttons in the dialer, it has succesfully worked.
