[Q] app/game compatability? - LG Optimus 3D

Hello
Will the O3D be able to play existing android apps and games using it's modified SGX540, or will developers have to re-program their products? Anything that runs fine on say the nexus s or SGS 1, should run better/quicker on the O3D, without special programming, is that right?
Thanks

[Q] Gameloft Android Games On HTC HD2 Problem

Hi, recently i have installed one of the latest android builds on my HTC HD2 mobile phone, i love it, works perfect and use it everyday rather than windows mobile.
One of the main reasons i turned my phone into an android device was the excitement in seeing people over youtube etc running games from gameloft on their htc hd2 devices such as N.O.V.A and Modern Combat etc FPS games with really cool graphics.
However, i am facing one big problem.
Every single game i have downloaded made for android from gameloft, either downloaded or purchased directly from their site, all seem to install fine, but then everytime i go to run the game, it opens and straight away says it needs to download additional data to run the game. Everytime it does this and finishes downloading, i tap to run the games and the game crashed back to the home screen.
I have tested about 8 android games now from them and all 8 have done the same thing, asked for additional data and then crashes when tryin to run the game.
I see they run fine on htc desire etc running android but im really miffed off and absolutely confused why my htc hd2 running froyo 2.2 android build aint able to play these games. Even after following correct instruction as to placing the game in the correct folder on sd card, install in airplace mode etc blah blah.
Really wanna get N.O.V.A and Modern Combat: Sandstorm working on my mobile.
Please help
Willing to make a reasonable donation to whoever can help get these working for me, I dont know if i need a specific android build or maybe some sort of android patch or game validator or some tool im missing????
bumppppp
I might be wrong here, but my guess is that the GPU doesn't work the same way as it would natively if it were on any other native Android device.
I have a Droid 2 Global and the HD2 running AA on SD. Simple games requiring some extra GPU power(Flick Kick for example), play clean, no lag, no distortion on my Droid 2 Global but have poor laggy graphics on the HD2.
If you really want to play those games, you should just get a native Android phone.

nah, the GPU isn't the problem. It has adreno 200 which is same as HTC desire and it runs all the games fine. It can be the problem of ram. How did you install android on it? Is it running windows mobile in the background? if yes, then lack of ram is likely to be your problem and that's why you get a crash...

I do realize that the GPU is good enough to power those games, but are the resources for the GPU allocated the same way that they would if Android was being run on an Android Native device?
I have American Android(03/20/11) installed on SD and I show a good 190MB of RAM if not more. I am currently download the data files of Modern Combat 2 HD to my HD2 and will post my results back.
Now that I think about it, I do have SpeedX 3D that runs fine. Could it be the OP's current setup that is preventing something from working fine? Are you installing directly to SD? Move back to phone and leave data to SD. Then try again...
hey,...i also using htc hd 2 hyperdroid rom..its works fine.i installed HAWAX its work fines
I just installed Modern Combat 2 HD from Gameloft and it works just fine. Rendering of GFX, everything.
There's most likely something in your configuration(ROM, Apps installed, etc...) that is causing this issue.
Off to play some Modern Combat 2 HD
My HD2 plays all the games I want. I installed asphalt 5 and Skies of Glory last week and they work perfectly. Have you tried a new firmware? I'm running Gingerbread 2.3.1.
LOL! Same problem on my Galaxy S. Only Assassin's Creed works Nicely.
The rest just crash to the main screen after downloading the additional data! Running Android 2.3.3...
If you bought the games they won't crash since they are all up to date and very compatible with GB 2.3.3. If you are using warez, that is one good reason why they crash.
Gameloft also connects to verify authenticity. If you game isn't very authentic, that is another reason.

Which android version did you buy/DL to be able to run correctly on the HD2? I'm thinking about buying a couple games from gameloft but since I'm running Android on the HD2 I don't know which version of the game to get...maybe the Desire HD version? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry not which games...I meant for which phone version did you buy to work on the HD2? When I go to gameloft and try to buy a game...I choose HTC and my carrier then it asks to choose your phone model the HD2/LEO isn't listed...is the closest the Desire HD?
most gameloft games can be played on my HD2

I am using android 2.3.3 Hyperdroid GBX v.11 (installed on phone, not sd) and the list of gameloft games having in my phone are;
1. asphalt 5 and 6 (both running smoothly)
2. Eternal legacy (running smoothly)
3. Novo (U need to change the control. By default, it is set to gamepad/or joystick mode...to other controls given there) otherwise the game crashes.
4. Real Football 2011
5. Hero of Sparta HD
6. Sand storm 2 (In couldnt install it, it force closed during verification process. But I have read ppl successfully installing in HD2 android and playing). I will try again and report later.
Phone: (sd card) I used app2sd partition and sd extn.
tools that I used on phone: Temp+CPU pro for increasing my phone processor, sd card speed increase app., Speed boost to clean cache and kill application.
I would suggest you to install OS on your phone (Nand) as to me, it is faster and can handle application and games faster.

He's not talking about the games to get. He's saying that on the gameloft site, which phone should he coose for the HD2. The "HTC HD2" isn't listed so he needs to choose a phone which is listed to be able to download a game(s).

That's wrong. You should select desire / bravo as it's the closest to our hardware. (Desire Hd has a faster processor, more RAM and a better touchscreen concerning multitouch.) Bravo has exactly the same Hardware just smaller.

You were correct about the Desire.
nova on hd2 android
Nova works great on my hd2 android gingerbread. But no luck yet on increasing game's 3/5ths screen display size. Any tips on increasing display to full size?

Honeycomb fail

Hey guys!
Yesterday, I bought myself a iconia a100. I found out today that the main apps I wanted to use are not compatible with honeycomb! (plants vs zombies, for one). My question is, will the ICS update allow me to install handset apps or will I still not be able to kill me some zombies?
I'm starting to think I should have bought a playbook. At least that one had the game and hot shots golf 2!
I wanted the Android tablet because of the market, but if some of the apps don't work, wouldn't the RIM market be similar in size?

I'm running ICS on my Touchpad and 95% of my apps work directly from the market with it no questions asked, there are a few headset apps that I wasn't able to download from the market directly but downloading the .APK and installing it that way worked perfect for me
Android 4.0 being for both Tablets and Phones has much better overall compatibility then Android 3.0
As Far as Android apps for Playbook there is a growing number of apps but if you want to use android apps a Android Device will always be your best option
Thank you for the response Forrest,
I also just discovered that none of the gameloft games are compatibly with the a100.
So NO good games work, plants vs zombies is one of my favorites on my phone and I can't play it on this new tablet? Arg, this a100 feels like a waste of money now. Does anyone know any work-arounds or anything so that I can get some games? The only good games I have on it now are Inotia 3 and Reckless Racing 2. All my other games aren't compatible.
Is there a way to make the a100 tablet behave like, let's say, a Samsung tablet? Similar to how you can change user agent in a browser?
My iconia a100 has ICS and is rooted. There must be something I can do to get the incompatible games...some kind of work around. I want plants vs zombies and let's golf 3, mainly. And the gameloft games would be great too. But none of these work on my tablet...
Can anyone help? :-(

Help me choose a Tablet mainly for emulators/emulation

Dear users,
ive been searching around google and xda forums for a correct answer, however most of the specific aspects of my questions are still unresolved, while i got some inputs, but i have alot of confusion.
First im an iOS user, therefore im a total noob about android tablets and hardwares.
I want a tablet powerful enough to run psx games, n64 games and most importantly TigerArcade along CPS3 games such Street Fightet Third Strike.
Im asking this because i really want a powerful android tablet that does everything that iOS does without getting an IPAD 2.
Specially i would like to take advantage of the emulators and of the flash-supported browsing experience.
So to recap i would like to know which kind of hardware i need to:
- Run psx games fullspeed (60fps) without frameskips (Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3 etc etc.)
- Run TigerArcade CPS3 Games such JoJo, Street Fighter III at 60fps
- Run n64 games at decent speed
Based on what i gathered around, a tablet with Tegra 2, or a powerful (above 1,2ghz) dual core cpu should be able to run those psx/arcade games fullspeed.
My only experience with Android so far was with my dad Galaxy S 1 (should be called Captivate in usa?) and those psx games were running around 45-50 fps albeit on a single Snapdragon cpu.
I was looking toward something in the likes of Acer Iconia A100/A200 which should be both Tegra 2.
My budget doesnt really matter, but i guess around 400€ (500$).
Im looking forward to some definitive answers.
If anyone can write down some real experiences or videos i would appreciate that.
Thank you all
PS: as a disclaimer, ive took a look to the noob video (lol) and to other similar threads, but i guess mine is more specific.
Asus Transformer Prime is right now the best Android tablet for gaming, at least what I have heard. You should be able to plug in (or use Bluetooth) a controller, maybe PS3, google some more information about that. TF prime runs everything smooth but it's a bit expensive. I guess you can find the specific price in your country.

[Q] Why are alot of games not compatable??? Help

Hey Guys,
I have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. I have purchased quite a few games and noticed that I can play them on my phone but they are not compatible or in the market for my tab. I use an HTC One V rooted with AOKP JB for my phone and can play Batman, Asphalt and others. I would really like to play the new Modern Combats that are out but they are not compatiable. Anyone know the reason why. I figured it becuase it doesn't have the Tegra processor and such, but I can overclock both CPU and GPU. I am totally willing to pay for these games and the games I have paid for would really like to play.
Is there any work around. Possibly tricking the market in thinking my Tab is something else to be able to download them?
Thanks
I was wondering the same thing.
some people might reply saying should of got tablet with the tegra processor
but those tablet dont have some things that this tablet has.
Do not know why these are not compatible with our tab.but most incompatible game when sideloaded works fine without any lag.
search YouTube for "modern tab on galaxy tab on 2" it works good on our tab.

Same with Tab 2 works perfectly with most games. Also if you are looking for a good tablet other than the Tab 2 then look at the Nexus 7 or Nexus 10.
