Hey guys, can somebody help me here? I was using the leaked Orange Gingerbread, but decided that battery drain, non-720p and constant bugs were not worth it. Decided to downgrade it to Brazilian Vivo's Official Froyo, flashed full sbf (I also applied the leaked GB over Barebones using full sbf), but now all I get is a bootloop. IT shows splash screen, shows boot animation, than gets back to the begining of the boot animation, without showing the splash screen.
Is there any way for me to get an official firmware, or can I only use custom ones, now? I kinda like BLUR, so I'd like to have a firmware with it enabled.
Did you wiped with the stock recovery before flashing brazilian sbf?

No, I didn't. Since I didn't need to wipe to upgrade, I didn't think it was needed for downgrade.
Then try to wipe now. it should work after it
I'm being able to access stock recovery (options: apply update.zip - as we all know, only motorola-signed files / wipe data/factory reset / wipe cache partition) and fastboot (or whatever we call the mode we use to flash the SBFs). Should I perform the wipes? Is there any firmware I can flash to solve the issue? Flashed Korean Eclair, the same bootloop issue.

Should I apply both wipes? Isn't it gonna brick my phone or anything like that?
enter into the stock recovery by pressing volume down.
then the droid guy appears press both volume up and down, then select wipe data cache.
Didn't have to wipe, it booted normally. I flashed the korean SBF, got bootloop too, than flashed brazilian SBF again and now everything's working
If you just wipe data and cache, there's no need to go to 2 or 3 SBF before.
if you want to go to another SBF,
it is really necessary to DO A WIPE DATA and WIPE CACHE from STOCK RECOVERY.
sometimes it works without wipe, but sometimes don't.
so it is safe to do a wipe before flashing sbf or restoring nandroid.

Above it Correct!!
I've not seen one SBF that wipes Data nor Cache which is needed anytime you make a change in the System Version, yes sometimes it will boot, but almost always will have issue later down the road.

I found same your problem.
After that.
- I wipe all data with stock recovery - I reboot to bootloader.
- flash 3.4.3-11 with sbf
everything ok!
Now,I rooted and update to CM7.

Hi,
I have a i9020a on 4.0.4 rooted. Got the OTA for JB update and after downloaded the file and restart, I got the "signature verification failed" in CWM recovery. Wonder what I need to do to be able to work around this. Do I have to revert back to stock recovery and if yes is there a guide on how to do that ?
Thanks

I went to stock by doing this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29073020&postcount=1
I didn't flash the updates in the second part #1. I logged everything in got the 4.0.4 1mb first then did this to get the 4.1.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29067584&postcount=2817
Go into airplane with a strong wifi signal on for this to work.
I then rerooted (2nd part #2 on)
I chose to get the OTAs this way instead, but I'm sure just flashing is fine.
Hope this helps.
You can't actually receive and install the ota with a custom recovery.
You can flash it manually with a custom recovery.
You can get it ota and have it install automatically with stock.
Can't install a ota when its pushed to your phone over the air with custom and you can't manually flash it with stock recovery.

Thanks, did you do the wipe as well? I was wondering how to properly wipe, e.g., go to setting and storage and erase everything, is that considered wipe?

This is a "clean" wipe:
full wipe / changing roms:
1. wipe data/factory reset (this formats /data, /cache and .android_secure on sd)
2. format /system, /boot
this leaves you with a "virgin" phone, only bootloader, recovery and radio are left. dalvik-cache resides on /data, so it's gone already.
You could also format SD in recovery as well. I moved everthing I wanted out and wiped for a nice fresh start, but that's just me :good:

Thanks. I managed to update to JB following the guide you are refering to and also the steps you took (i.e., doing OTA update). In general it went smooth but I do encounter some issues that I want to ask the OP of that thread.
Hello Pros! First post, semi-noob here.
I tried flashing the newest [JB][CM10Based]Unoffical MIUI 2.9.14 Skyrocket 9/14/12[PORT] today. I followed all instructions; I wiped wiped wiped, factory and Dalvik, and flashed the kernel.
But I am always stuck on the MIUI bootscreen, and can never fully load up the ROM. I've tried wiping and re-flashing several times, to no avail. I have not had any problems flashing roms before this. Any help or ideas of what causes this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Yes, I formatted both system and data. And I'm using the recovery that was recommended in the rom thread, Sk8er's Cwm v13.

Try reflashing. But when u get into recovery go to extras/darkside tool. And click on the super wipe(idr what's its called but there's only two options.) When that's done factory reset format data/system 3x if u want.( Couldn't hurt) then flash ROM! All should be good... if not keep this thread open. Lol and well try something else. But hopefully that works. Good luck!

Really? Damn. Are u on the latest recovery? If not try flashing the newest. Then do the steps again in my last post. Can't believe your having all these troubles!
Oh also u could try fixing permissions. After doing all the wipes and after flashing. Go to dark side tools again and do the cashe wipe! Then go back to advanced and fix permissions again.
Can you boot into recovery or not? If you can, just flash the rom. If you can't, yank the battery, replace it. Then, hold down both volume buttons, the press the power button, release all the buttons, you should be able to get into recovery.

Wow, still stuck on the boot screen even after the darkside cache wipe. I flashed CWMR Touch v6.0.1.3 by sk8erwitskil which is the newest CWM recovery as far as I believe, and the recommended recovery for this ROM. I EVEN flashed TWRP 2.2 just for the heck of it and flashed MIUI with that and still the same result; stuck on bootscreen. So I'm pretty sure it's not the recovery.
I did a darkside superwipe, and a darkside cache wipe, along with factory reset & format data/system 3x. The rom installs in recovery just fine. It's just once i reboot, i get the MIUI splash loading screen indefinitely. I'm not sure what could be causing this since I do all the important wipes (plus the darkside wipes now) each time. I think I have BAD LUCK!
You'll have to use odin, and reroot your phone.
Have you checked the MD5 of the ROM? If it's a bad DL it could flash just enough of it to loop you.

Ya I agree try downloading it again. Check the md5 and flash that ROM again. If it doesn't work your gonna have to Odin!
There were a lot of complaints of boot loops when flashing, so I pulled the DL link. I actually stopped using miui and moved back to CM or AOKP, depending on which one is most stable at the moment. Every once in a while I give miui a try, but I never stick with it. If you want miui, I suggest you follow Lithium's thread. His version is the officially supported miui rom.
I can confirm heres what i did to fix i had the boot loop.. all i did was run DARKSIDE Superwipe x2 Times. Then i installed MIUI Rom. Then i Factory Reset. Try booting wait a little bit. If still not going threw remove battery and boot to recovery and factory reset one more time then reboot. So once again.
1. DARKSIDE SUPERWIPE x2++ 2. Install MIUI Rom. 3. Factory Reset. 4. Boot. 5. (If still looping) Remove battery Then recovery. and Factory Reset and boot again. Your welcome
Can we move this to q and a?

Have you try Format system?
Factory reset, wipe cache/dalvic, format system, flash rom, flash gapps, then reboot... let it sit for a good few minutes just in case it's tkaing a long time to get through first boot.
I'm about to try carbon myself so curious to see how it goes for you... currently using PAC but it's incorrectly reporting my RAM as 675mb.

This process should work for you and this is the ROM you should probably use. Official support w/ nightlies (Also it runs like a dream.)
Definitely just backup what you want to keep and factory reset, wipe all that stuff, and you should be fine
I'll try to remember the steps of what happened as best I can.
T989 All Stock Running Gingerbread (Not sure what Firmware)
1)Installed CWM via ODIN
2)nstalled SuperUser via CWM
3)Installed latest AOKP from here http://aokp.co/devices/hercules
Booted up just fine but two problems
1: No Service
2: Touch screen calibration was WAY OFF
BYAM DURP OOPS
Realized that I needed to get the latest Firmware before flashing the latest AOKP!
4)Full Wipe(I think?)
5)Install latest Firmware (T989UVMC6, right?) (Also did a factory reset/wipe)
Phone boots into Stock with latest firmware, however the touch screen is still calibrated way off!
Do steps 1-3 above again.
Touch screen calibration is still way off!
My only guess on the reason/fix for this is that maybe this is still some lingering problem of flashing the ROM on the outdated firmware, so I need to perform some sort of deeper wipe than just a Full Wipe via ClockWorkMod in order to get rid of any lingering problems. And then flash the latest firmware, and do steps 1-3 above.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Any other information needed?
Thanks in advance!

I've done wipes like this
Via CWM I do the Factory Reset/Full wipe, then cache and dalvik cache.
Is there a way to more deeply wipe?
I saw in some other places that you can mount some locations and also wipe those too, I assume maybe doing that will result in a "fuller" wipe and also wipe the firmware too?
Care to explain exactly how I should be wiping?
Also after doing the wipe, do I just flash latest firmware, install CWM/root, and then a ROM?
Thanks

Formatted data, system, cache, and emmc.
Did Factory Wipe/Reset, Wiped cache and Dalvik cache.
Used ODIN to flash T989UVMC6, and still the touch screen is not calibrated properly.
However (I've seen other people report that problem but haven't seen a fix) when the phone is plugged in, it works just fine, but whenever it is unplugged the touch screen very unusable due to being calibrated so wrong. :/ After wiping and formatting everything and flashing a stock Firmware I'm all out of hope now!

My Oukitel's k4000 Touch Screen Calibration Messed Up After Flashing ROM on Wrong ROM
Hello,
Please help me. I tried to see if a ROM for 'Oukitel k4000 pro' could fit 'Oukitel k4000'.
Since it didn't work out, I flashed back to the original ROM of 'Oukitel k4000', but since then, my screen behaves wrongly to touches.
Could anyone faced and managed to beat this issue?
I saw several different posts on the net, but none of them actually helped me.
One more thing:
Please try to explain, as if you explaining a child, since my android experience is not that vast to follow all the shortcuts and proffecional terms.
Thank you,
Michael
Hi all...
I tried to upgrade by Tab 2 7" to KitKat today and failed. I installed Clockworkmod successfully, but then started getting error 7's. I discovered this was because it was outdated. I've tried to install updated clockwork mod which it says has been successful - but doesn't change the original.
I did a backup of my original rom, but this has failed to reinstall. I've tried to put an old version of cyanogen on it, which also has failed, and re-downloaded the stock rom from samsfirmware which passes through ODIN, resets but then the tab 2 hangs on the Samsung screen - flashing.
I can't seem to resolve it.
Has anyone got any ideas? I can't access anything other than clockworkmod - so if you think you know of a way I can successfully upgrade it I may stand half a chance.....
Thanks
Tim

Use Odin to restore to the stock ROM. Download the stock rom from samfirmware.com and flash it in Odin as PDA. Then, use the latest recovery (either TWRP, CWM, OR PhilZ) from @Android-Andi's recovery thread in the Dev section. You should now be able to flash any ROM you want to. Make sure you do a backup and a wipe system, cache, Dalvik, data, and android secure (if it's an option.)

Yes, I did twice and it's still hung after apparent success installation according to Odin. I've tried it twice.
No success
Thanks
What I've done tonight is reflashed the original Rom - this time it blew away Clockworkmod. It still wouldn't boot. I then put a recovery solution on from your link, which has flashed well. However I've then tried three ROMS and each have hung after installation on the initial boot.
I'll try them again tomorrow night - but do you have any idea why three ROMS plus the stock keep failing?
Thanks

Did you wipe system, cache, Dalvik cache, and data before flashing and wipe cache and dalvik after flashing? And your tablet will bootloop after a reinstallation in Odin because Odin does not wipe before installation. After flashing in Odin, reboot recovery (make sure tablet is unplugged,) and wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache. Reboot and you should be good to go.

Hi all
Thanks for all your help, especially rcj! I have managed to recover my device using cynagodmod 9 - it wont run 10 or 11 but at least its up and working - even if it's a downgrade from the Android version I was on Really don't care as I can use it again with a lot more memory.
Thanks - without you I would never have found Phils ROM which enabled me to get this far.
