The game gripper V2 is great for the price. If you are a rom player I highly suggest picking one up.
Mine came in a small, yellow, bubble wrapped envelope. The game gripper fits smoothly over the keyboard. The keys feel really good specially when pressing them. The key layout is as good as it gets. I had no issues with buttons hitting other keys. The pad itself feels cheap. It's bendable but I would refrain bending it.
I have three issues. First my L shaped car charger won't fit in the space provided. Secondly the head phone jack is covered. Third, above my d pad it looks like there is a small rip in the rubber material.
I'm going to get a small blade from a hobby shop to fix the two problems. I'll post more pics later on it. Anyway its worth the money specially since I can play games that are not rpgs with much more accuracy.
Current list of games that game gripper has helped me rock:
Gex
Mega Man X4-X6
Twisted Metal
Parasite Eve
Twisted Metal was the toughest since you need L1+2 and R1+2. I basically switched my layout for the gamepad. I took the two buttons next to were the square and x button should be and I made them L2 as R2 which are normally L1 and R1. Then I made the start and select buttons L1 and R1.

I used a knife to cut an area out for the headphone jack. After using it with the headphone jack I see why they didn't pre-cut it out. Holding the gamegripper with a headphone jack sticking out the side is incredibly annoying.

Yeah bro. The rubber was soft enough to just cut out the bottom portion of the hole for the L shaped charger to work just fine without impacting the game gripper at all. I'll upload pics after work.
As for the headphone jack I agree with you. The wire and the jack sticking out is uncomfortable so I don't think I'll add a hole for that.

Negative ghost rider. I got the Epic mostly to play roms. I love the keyboard but it's not accurate. I wanna see you play mega man x with the keyboard.

I have the game gripper V2 and love it. It makes playing most roms so much better. So glad I had decided on the Epic as it is the only one with a game gripper for my carrier. Only thing that could make it better and would easily buy another one would be if it had shoulder buttons somehow. Most games I can make due, but a few not really. I can make one out of the camera button, but thats it
You know, i really enjoy playing games, but i HATE that the epic runs out of battery so damn fast if im playing them. I hardly ever have a charger with me except at home, but today for instance when i was at my sons doctor's appointment, i was playing some nice asphalt 6 and i was 86 percent, we get called in 30 minutes later, and i was at 44 percent. idk how you guys can stand that....
I never knew this existed thnx for this I'm getting one

The seidio 3300mah extended battery allows me to play roms for at least 8 hours. The back cover fits with the game gripper as well.

The v2 is much improved! Trust me!
I owned both the v1 and the v2, and the only real difference in them both is the design of the D-Pad. Trust me though, its a big difference compared to the v1.
In the original GG for the Epic, you could barely feel the Dpad buttons when they were pushed. They worked, but had no tactile feeling/feedback. Which was terrible. This is what prompted the redesign. The new version has a much better D-pad "rocker" feeling and you can tell when you go from left to right, or up to down, when before it all felt like one big button.
I have owned both and I have to say, the v2 actually plays great, and I have almost no problem playing any game with it, even fighters! Just takes a little getting used to. Any NES/SNES/Sega/PSX fan should look into getting one!
OMG I am so looking into this. The only game I have been playing is Pokemon Fire Red because I can't control anything else really.
So you guys are saying don't cut out a hole for the headphones even if its L shaped?

It gets annoying because your hand grips right where the headphone jack is. You certainly could hold the phone in a different position but that is uncomfortable. But, cutting out a little area for the headphone jack wont degrade your game gripper and it will work fine. So basically if you want to, try it. It won't make a difference in the quality of the GG if you decide not to make use of it.

Extended battery man!
I cut a hole for the headphone jack, and when I use it I just hold the phone so the plug sticks over my pointer finger or inbetween my pointer and middle finger.
I have been tempted to get an extended battery as I really like to play games when I have downtime and not at home, but worry about adding that much more to the phone. Went from carrying a somewhat small phone and an iPod touch to this.

It's worth it bro. I can play a full 8 hours of psx roms before needing to charge with my 3300 seidio. That battery, a bigger sd card and the gg were my best investments. I thought the extended battery would be bad only because I won't have a cover for my epic but I have yet to get a single scratch on mine and i've had it since day one.

2nd this. I am using this set up and it is great. even makes a cheap pair of skull candies sound good.
+1 for Voodoo/PowerAmp combination. TBH, Poweramp sounds good even by itself, as I know a few people without rooted phones running it. Poweramp has the best equalizer of anything out for Android as of right now. Very customizable, and even has individual treble and bass knobs that are adjustable after you set your EQ. Super-customizable sound regardless of what type of music you are into...
I Personally enjoy using the preset "Bass and Treble" for my Hardcore/Metal/Punk needs, and a slightly customized Bass and Treble for Rap/Hip-Hop. Depending on your headphones though, you'll have to modify it to fit your ear.

I'm actually lookin online for something like those right now. At Boeing they don't want us wearing headphones while we work, so I'm trying to find something that I can pass off as earplugs while still serving a purpose. Right now I've got windows open for these, just trying to do some more research as to which ones will last the full 8hr shift:

you could were ear muffs over them but the def dont look like ear plugs lol if you have hair i have heard ppl dont see them i shave my head so...... yeah sore thumb also beaware i love them but if you have big ear holes lol like me then they WILL slip but you can hear better the outside world i work around trucks and my boss is about 50 miles away.......... so yeah no problem for me
i owned the sony dr-bt160as and now the backbeats
sony's were alot more comfortable but didn't claim noise reduction
sound quality are equal in my opinion...the sony's have slightly less ability to be heard when speaking.
i also wear glasses so keep that in mind on the comfort factor
the backbeats are a little more troublesome with day to day pairing
the sony's can be turned on before pairing with the epic bt
whereas the backbeats must be turned on after bt is enabled first on the phone
both will repair if you walk away from your device and then back in range.
sound quality is roughly the same as is battery life over 7-8 hours for both
backbeats were a lot cheaper...
however if i did it all over again i would still choose the sony's...for comfort, usability, and style...with a slight disadvantage on the microphone.
dspmanager + voodoo.

I'm looking to buy a quality headset with mic that is compatible with the G2x.
Any good ones you guys know about?
My buddy loves his Skullcandy FMJ (full metal jacket). A bit pricey for me.
Meelectronics m6p. 15 bucks and the sound is amazing and has a mic that works very well. I read a lot of reviews these are the best you can buy for the price and can compete with headphones that cost 10 times more.
had them since the phone came out in april. Great bass production.

Just got the s4i
Last night I bought the klipsch image s4i. The package says that it is only compatible with iPhone. I was able to get it to workcfor the g2x as well. Out of the box the phone works with both the headphones(excellent quality and sound isolation) and the microphone. The center button works for starting stopping the music as well. The only difficulty I am having is that the back forth buttons do not work. One solution is to use an app that adds extra functionality to the center button. I now have my phone working with double tap of center button, single tap, triple tap and long tap. As long as you can remember that it's an excellent choice. I switched back to weapon rom to get better stability(I love muiu but it's still not 100 percent stable and audiolqyback was jittery) and I have awesome sound, cstavility and a headset that whe. You tap and hold will voice search. Well worth the investment.

I'm a big fan of my T-Mobile earbuds with the flat, "tangle free" cord. Sounds great, works perfectly, and tangle free. After regularly buying cheap ones from deals that would get shorts within a couple monthes (like the MEElectronics M6P several times) I finally ran down to my local t-mobile store and grabbed a pair of these. Last pair went thru the laundry and died, went straight back and got em again.

ultimate ears 350vm
Just bought the Android version of the Ultimate Ears 350vm - see amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-985-...IDY2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336591571&sr=8-1
or logitech directly: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/ue/ue-earphones/devices/ue-350-vm
I have not finished burning them in yet, but they are pretty great - - better than the other head phones I had been using:
Sennheiser mx400 (http://www.sennheiserusa.com/media/productDownloads/productSheets/MX400_ProductSheet.pdf)
Sony MDR-E821/E828 ( http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/s...10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665379447)
JVC H-AFX35 (http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028680)
Sure, it's the only one which has mic and mic controls, and it is way more expensive ($50) than the others.. but it is a nice set of in ear buds.
They are rather small so very light, and come with 5 sizes of silicone canal adapters. It takes a bit of playing, but once I got the right fit - they work GREAT. Good sound isolation, much to the chargin of wife and child ( I work from home, so they have to tap my should to
350vm initial impressions, on my G2X running Stock 2.3.4 (21y firmware):
The volume control is built inline, so it works well.. I leave it at max for the most part.
Using Google Play Music, single tap on the button pauses just fine, double tap skips to next track.
I have trouble with double tap - the advance is not immediate - so I have to be patient...
Otherwise, a great set of head phones.
I'm looking forward to using them the next time I travel - that is what I really got them for -- listening to music in the airplane.. the sound isolation is great ..
Bass response is good -- not too much, sounds good to me.. like a proper pair of over the ear (aka supra-aural) -- but in the smaller, more convient factor of ear buds.. (IEM/canalphones)
blablahblah..
If I have to replace these 350vm, I'll try the MEelectronics m6p or the a151 (http://www.meelec.com/category_s/329.htm) -- depends on wether or not i feel the mic is necessary..
The Kiplisch s4a are supposed to be good.. but .. it's just too much money for my taste.. at least at the moment.
I personal like the skull candy 50/50 quality construction and durable for a pretty affordable price i think they run like 39.99 most places in the us... All you are really paying for with Bose is the name it's not a professional quality product, i use the 50/50 for my home studio mixing as well as for my phone.

I'm getting tired of going through headsets like crazy. I was buying some cheap ones on ebay for $7 that would last me about a month, so I decided to spend the extra $ and get some M6p's. I'm on my 3rd replacement set.. They have lasted me around 30 days. I just received my most recent replacements yesterday. Upon my first use this morning, the skip/play/pause button stuck in.. If I just wiggle the wire, it skips/pauses/plays. Now I'm going for a 4th set, and I'm sick of this...
Can anyone recommend an over the ear w/ inline mic with play/pause/skip?

I can't recommend an over-the-ear pair over earbuds, but I can recommend the LG HBS-700 Bluetooth Headset...
I've had it since the beginning of December 2011, and it still works great. Sound quality is surprisingly good, and all the controls work... It has separate volume control, so these things get LOUD. and the neck piece vibrates whenever you get a call, and it is very much sweat resistant. I do some crazy workouts with these earbuds, and they are still working fine. The battery lasts a long time too, I charge it like once every two weeks.

I've been using my Skullcandy that I got for free from T&C. People can even hear me when I'm riding my bike going about 30mph. Anything over that and it gets too windy. Also works well at the shooting range (I use it as ear protection there).
Overall I'm happy with them since they were free, but I've heard a lot more good things about the beats and bose earphones. Ya know, the ones that are actually supposed to noise cancel and stuff lol.

I found these Mee M31P earphones and I've been very impressed with them. The build quality is top-notch, and after a burn-in (I connected them to my old MP3 player and let it play at a loud volume continuously for about 24 hours), the sound quality is just amazing. Even at low volumes, you can still get the full spectrum with all the bass and treble you want. The mic works very well for calls. I lucked out and got them on a Woot-Off for $16, but even the $25 price on Amazon is well worth it. http://www.amazon.com/MEElectronics-M31P-BK-Headphones-Microphone-Smartphones/dp/B004OBZ2UO
I actually got these ”Smokin Buds” skullcandy earphones today, but after looking at the reviews I think I'm just gonna get another pair.
Apparently they break really easily, and I'm not a big fan of that.
I'll be sure to let you know when they break, but so far the sound is awesome. Only problem is that the button seems to push itself at 60+ mph. Irritating.

Thanks! Are you riding a motorcycle 60mph?
I like the idea of noise canceling headphones. I rooted and rommed to XMC's Jellybean, I love it (!), maybe I can try some headphones out at Bestbuy or something!
Heh yeah. Really irritating when it changes songs every three seconds by itself. I also don't think it was made to noise cancel, they just fit in my ears really well.
Personally, I think they have excellent sound. Next time I buy earphones, however, I'm going to read reviews first. I swear, if these break...hahaha =D!
What's your price range, OP? I go through a lot of different brands so I can give some insight.
Actually I wanna hear your recommendation as well. What do you suggest under 50 and 100 dollars?

These are going to be about the earbuds only because headsets are big as hell, and I find earbuds more convenient and cleaner looking. More people would probably fit more with earbuds because most people love convenience.
Under 100, but over 50:
Klipsh Image S4i's are really good. Why? Sound is clear, noise-isolated earbuds, and there is a nice 3 button control set up (volume, call/end call, play music, skip music, etc.). Also, the really good thing about the S4's is the microphone. There is an echo-cancelling feature to it which is a definite plus, and the sound quality of the bass is very good. The colorway of these earbuds is very simplistic as the color is finished with black and chrome. Very clean. Only flaw is the way the buttons take you out of applications, but if you press the buttons, wouldn't that mean you needed to call someone?
Klipsh S4A is good too...I like the S4i's better because it's cheaper and it's pretty much the same thing quality wise. However, you can probably find the S4A's for cheap if you look around.
Lady Gaga Heartbeats are good too. Very unique design to it, and the wire on it (the flat one) is pure quality because it's tangle free pretty much. Seems like it would never break. Sound is VERY good. There's a nice case that comes with this too. I think Monster made this... Monster is very high end, so their credibility should say a lot about these earphones. The microphone is alright though. It's clear, but what makes this headset good is the sound it produces.
Shure headsets are definitely some to look into, even with the lower end products. The design is definitely why I would recommend these to anyone. However, Klipsh ****s on this Shure in the under 100's class.
Etymotic Research MC3's are really nice, but not worth the price... It's a balanced headset, but lacks so much compared to the higher ended Etymotic headsets. I just put these here because I've tried this out.
Beats Audio cheap version...overrated /story. lol I love the hype with the Beats. Good brand, but so far, the Klipsh makes the Beats look crappy, and the Klipsh is cheaper.
Under 50:
MEElectronics brand in general. Good stuff for what it is. Can't really say anything. It's under 50 so why not, right? It's good for what it is.
Ultimate...more expensive but overrated.
NuForce NE-7M is a good headset to use. It's simplistic in style. Sound is very close to those that are under 100. This is definitely one of those earpieces that is made for the laid-back chilled out person. I like these a lot.
Skullcandy Ink'd...it's alright too. Lots of flaws. Wire is always tangled, and it looks cheesy. Sound isn't the best either. But it is what it is, and that's why its price reflects upon the headset in itself.
Skullcandy Smoking Buds are nice in design. Sound is good for what it is. It's kind of too loud though and doesn't seem balanced (for example, the high-end frequencies are very noticeable and it's annoying to hear). It's cheap and that's what matters. Also, the wire is very durable. This is my go-to if I needed something right away and my main headset broke (they have this in almost every retail store). Flaw with the Smoking Buds is the button. Microphone is clear, but the button is annoying. Only one button, which means no control settings to really use. It either opens up your music app, shuts down your music app, or makes a speed dial call to the last person you talked to.
Best choice for under 100 in general is the Klipsh. It's compatible with the Android (I would know ), and it allows control (which is what I think most people would want). The sound is pure quality, and the microphone is very clear. It's also durable, nice looking, and simple.
Best choice for under 50, I would go with the NuForce NE-7M. It's about exactly 50 dollars, but the sound is good for what it is, and it would suit most people who are always on the go and aren't able to cough up an extra 20 dollars for some Klipsh earphones. The design is very minimal, but's a good thing because it's a straight-to-the-point type of earphones to use.
Hopefully, this helps.
Thanks! I'll be looking into the Klipsh headphones for my next purchase. You seem to be well versed with earbuds (which I prefer, actually) and it's always good to read opinions.
As someone who rides every day, earbuds have become a commodity. It's the only way to entertain myself on long rides lol.
Thanks Gheng, you've given an excellent place to start, I don't really have any base to start from, I've been using the earbud/mic sets included with a phone. They have always been lacking in some way.
I'm going to look on Amazon for reviews on each of these models you've talked about to develop a matrix. :cyclops:
+1 Klipsch Image S4. I have the normal set of earbuds, and they are amazing. They still sound great even after a year of daily use. But the cable is fairly thin, so take care of them and they will take care of you.

No worries. I usually base my opinions off of actual experience and reviews from highly respected sources. It feels good to usually have almost the exact same opinions as most of these credible sources.

Yes, the cable is thin. One of the biggest downsides I hated about the S4's. They are so nice though.
Too bad my son broke mine. :crying:

Are you guys with the Klipsch S4is able to have control of songs and calls? I've read random things about ROMs that don't support the functions of multi-button headset controllers? I have the JB rom with the CM 6 kernal (I think).
I believe Klipsch makes an Image S4 set called the S4A. Specifically for android devices. S4i is for the iPhone

I never used it with the JB rom (I have it Alpha 5 JB rom flashed)... However, I did try different multi-buttons controlled earsets and they worked fine for me. I didn't try the S4i's yet with the rom yet.

Both work well on the MyTouch 4g Slide. I prefer the i's over the a's because of the experience I had with both. Plus, it was a bit better in price and sound.
I advise people to try out both if they can. Personal preference goes a long way.

I recommend Phonak Audeo earphones over the rest mentioned if you can find a deal on them. I know they have a version with the mic, but I don't know if they have music playback controls
I tried the Klipsh Image S4i's, they were great, but the extra buttons didn't work, just the one for pause/play/answer did. These worked really well, I liked the sound isolating function, I've never had these type of ear buds before, but really like them. I returned them due to the cost.
I'm going to get the MEElectronics M6P-BK Sports version with the sports ear wire. The reviews on Amazon seem to be mostly good.

I have some MEElectronics M31P-BK that are really good, the sound quality after burning in for 24 hours is amazing for that price. Has only 1 button but that works to play/pause or accept calls. The sound is actually a little richer, to my ears, than the UrBeats by Monster that I just bought.
I was looking at the Plantronics Backbeat Go... Maybe might consider the Antec ISO but that extra clip part is turning me off...
I know battery life wont be good... I dont like the messy cables..
Anyone have any experiences with these would like to share...
I love my LG HBS 700s, they work great.

Is that the Tone, the one with the thing that goes around the neck?
BTW, forgot to mention that I'm looking for earbuds version not over ear...
Rooted and running Paranoid Android + franco.kernel
Stereo Bluetooth Headset
I have a Sony SBH20, its great. You can use your own headphones with it, although their is nothing wrong with the ones that come with it just a very short cable. It also has a NFC chip in it, so no fussing about with pairing, just tap the phone to the device and it will turn on Bluetooth, and pair immediately. Before I had the Sony MW600 which was also good but the SBH20 has a much MUCH better clip and can actually be attached to your belt, pocket etc, I have it clipped to either my front inside jacket pocket or to my front right pants pocket if I am using a longer pair of headphones. It feels incredibly sturdy, it feels like it will outlive my phone.
Yes those are the tones. I have the tones + or 730 model are these the type your looking for? And battery life is awesome I am charging every three days or so and I watch a lot of Netflix using them and the normal games and talking.

I really like my Tones (730's). Very convenient, great battery life, comfortable, and the controls are easy to reach.
But with that said I mainly listen to podcasts. For music they are mediocre at best, but I would guess most bluetooth headsets are (unless you want to drop a bunch of coin on the Sennheisers - and even then, it's still bluetooth).
I was looking at the tones, but the neckband thing might get annoying..
I play golf so not sure if it might get in the way or maybe come off during my swing... Is there anyway to remove the neckband thing and still work?

I did some research last year and ended up with the Kinivo BTH220 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones.
They hold a charge forever and sound good too.

that looks nice... but not having the ability to have just 1 side off is turning me off.. there are a few headphones that are nice looking and they do sound great compared to earbud version... I think I like the smaller earbuds version though...
Thanx

I play golf 2. And while I don't listen to music on the golf course, I just put mine on & hit a few balls into my practice net and it is not a problem. It fits under your collar and doesn't really move around much in the swing.
I have the Plantronic BackBeat Go. Very light weight, solid product. It's an in-ear style so it blocks out a lot of outside noise which is great but just pay attention while waking across a street.
Battery life is approx 5-6 hours for me. It could be longer but the unit itself is so small... Where would they put a bigger battery? LOL!
I'd recommend them.

They're ok, but as I said, compared to good wired buds (akg, senn, shure, etc.) they are mediocre at best. But for fifty bucks I wasn't expecting great sound quality.
I prefer the extended highs setting, and wished it didn't always reset to the heavy bass setting at power on.
I really like my Motorola S10-HD headset... It pairs quickly, and eliminates the cords. I find that the headset needs to be at almost full volume most of the time, though, as it is a little quiet. This may be a design choice to keep the battery life high...
