Quality headsets with mic - T-Mobile LG G2x

I'm looking to buy a quality headset with mic that is compatible with the G2x.
Any good ones you guys know about?

My buddy loves his Skullcandy FMJ (full metal jacket). A bit pricey for me.

Meelectronics m6p. 15 bucks and the sound is amazing and has a mic that works very well. I read a lot of reviews these are the best you can buy for the price and can compete with headphones that cost 10 times more.
had them since the phone came out in april. Great bass production.

Thanks! I'm going to look into those!

Let me know when you get them. I would like to hear your opinion. My previous statement stands as I have had these for about 4 months. Great sound. When i bike with these i get some wind noise. Thats my only complaint.

I LOOOOVE my Zagg Smart Buds. I won't get into it here, but here is my post w/review and pics.
And if you can't find the link above, here it is in plain view:

They have an innovative slide system that allows them to fit around your neck so you don't have the weight of the cord pulling on the buds, and it just gets better.

s4a
I'm thinking of the s4a for a birthday gift. It's not released yet, but Klipsch makes consistently awesome headphone. I will let you know if I go through with it.

Here is quality.

Seconded, any of the Beats line with control talk have a mic and sound incredible matched up with VooDoo based kernels

Just got the s4i
Last night I bought the klipsch image s4i. The package says that it is only compatible with iPhone. I was able to get it to workcfor the g2x as well. Out of the box the phone works with both the headphones(excellent quality and sound isolation) and the microphone. The center button works for starting stopping the music as well. The only difficulty I am having is that the back forth buttons do not work. One solution is to use an app that adds extra functionality to the center button. I now have my phone working with double tap of center button, single tap, triple tap and long tap. As long as you can remember that it's an excellent choice. I switched back to weapon rom to get better stability(I love muiu but it's still not 100 percent stable and audiolqyback was jittery) and I have awesome sound, cstavility and a headset that whe. You tap and hold will voice search. Well worth the investment.

I'm giving these a shot.. How have they held up for ya? Some great reviews out there, and some poor reviews... but their customer service seems pretty on top of honoring the 1yr warranty. Looks like they had a bad manufacturing run on these that were corrected. Anyone else use these? you likey?

Front and back buttons NEVER work. This is known. But the middle one does, especially well with Poweramp.

I'm a big fan of my T-Mobile earbuds with the flat, "tangle free" cord. Sounds great, works perfectly, and tangle free. After regularly buying cheap ones from deals that would get shorts within a couple monthes (like the MEElectronics M6P several times) I finally ran down to my local t-mobile store and grabbed a pair of these. Last pair went thru the laundry and died, went straight back and got em again.

Bose in ear buds.

ultimate ears 350vm
Just bought the Android version of the Ultimate Ears 350vm - see amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-985-...IDY2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336591571&sr=8-1
or logitech directly: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/ue/ue-earphones/devices/ue-350-vm
I have not finished burning them in yet, but they are pretty great - - better than the other head phones I had been using:
Sennheiser mx400 (http://www.sennheiserusa.com/media/productDownloads/productSheets/MX400_ProductSheet.pdf)
Sony MDR-E821/E828 ( http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/s...10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665379447)
JVC H-AFX35 (http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028680)
Sure, it's the only one which has mic and mic controls, and it is way more expensive ($50) than the others.. but it is a nice set of in ear buds.
They are rather small so very light, and come with 5 sizes of silicone canal adapters. It takes a bit of playing, but once I got the right fit - they work GREAT. Good sound isolation, much to the chargin of wife and child ( I work from home, so they have to tap my should to
350vm initial impressions, on my G2X running Stock 2.3.4 (21y firmware):
The volume control is built inline, so it works well.. I leave it at max for the most part.
Using Google Play Music, single tap on the button pauses just fine, double tap skips to next track.
I have trouble with double tap - the advance is not immediate - so I have to be patient...
Otherwise, a great set of head phones.
I'm looking forward to using them the next time I travel - that is what I really got them for -- listening to music in the airplane.. the sound isolation is great ..
Bass response is good -- not too much, sounds good to me.. like a proper pair of over the ear (aka supra-aural) -- but in the smaller, more convient factor of ear buds.. (IEM/canalphones)
blablahblah..
If I have to replace these 350vm, I'll try the MEelectronics m6p or the a151 (http://www.meelec.com/category_s/329.htm) -- depends on wether or not i feel the mic is necessary..
The Kiplisch s4a are supposed to be good.. but .. it's just too much money for my taste.. at least at the moment.

I personal like the skull candy 50/50 quality construction and durable for a pretty affordable price i think they run like 39.99 most places in the us... All you are really paying for with Bose is the name it's not a professional quality product, i use the 50/50 for my home studio mixing as well as for my phone.

On the website, it shows someone wearing them as if they have memory wire. The specs don't say anything about that. Does it have memory wire for over the ear wearing? Mine fall out all the time working out..
Did you have to use the adapter on the g2x?
Thanks for the review

Audiophile headsets?

I use my headsets about 80% of the time... that said the oem headsets are not as loud as I would like them to be. They are ok and just that.
So I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good audiophile headsets for around $50-$70 bucks? I saw Zagg has some but I didn't like that the volume on the headset used a sliding mechanism. I would have preffered a rocker or buttons.
I liked the zagg because it had the mic and everything. I wouldn't buy a headset without the mic for my phone.
I do use the phone as a media player (movies & music) so does anyone have any sites I could check out?

Headphone.com is my go-to source for headwear. There's a bunch of headset options in your price range.
look up Grado. they make great headphones... they have entry levels in your price range if you find them on sale.
here's a good site:
http://www.audioadvisor.com/products.asp?dept=45&sort_on=title&sort_by=&view_all=true
they're also on amazon for the same price.
Check the impedance (given in ohms)
The volume issue most likely has to do with impedance. Headsets with high impedance will have less volume than those with lower impedence. Higher impedance models will tend to last longer, though. Just something else to keep in mind.

shure has headphones made for phone usage with mic and such built in.
I've got Ety's, Shure, v-moda, Sony, Bose, etc and I keep coming back to these:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DREX300i...TF8&coliid=I2UPGX0VBD6T7G&colid=18N1HGC0EJEDW
I have the ones without the inline control, but I think I'm going to get these or go back to Bluetooth with the Motorola S-10 HD when those come out on the 28th.
Will these work for sure on the G2?? Looks like I'm going with these...
The grado's are too expensive with a mic. Its redick and the reviews I have read aren't that positive compared to the sonys.

I haven't had a chance to use those specifically, as I have the "normal" version of those to listen with (and they sound great with nice, tight bass). I went to test my v-modas with my G2, and they keep launching Subsonic rather than the stock music app, but I assume that it works just like it did on my Nexus One. The volume buttons will NOT work on the Sonys (or any others that are for the iPhone 3GS/4), but the call button should work with the music player and answer phone calls.
Kicker makes some of the best headphones. I have the EB91M. The fit very deep in my ear and have tons of bass. I got the M series so I would have a mic to use with my G2.

I have V-Moda Vibe Duos for awhile now. They've went through 3 designs the past 3 years I think. So far, the headset works pretty well but the headphones are more tuned for dance music meaning you'd have to boost midtones in the EQ to flatten the spectrum you hear. Otherwise, it has been pretty good so far.
A pair should set you back $40 - $70 depending on where you find them sold.
whenever this conversation comes up, I have to pimp the Head-Direct RE0.
$350+ sound for ~$70
I currently use:
Sony Ericsson MW-600 Stereo Bluetooth headsets -- they have a mic clip with OLED display that clips to your shirt and a stereo jack to use any headphones you want to it. They work great. Also has an FM Tuner built-in if you want to use that and can pair to two BT devices at once.
I also use Sony MDR-NC7 noise canceling headphones. They are fairly inexpensive for what they are -- $50-$70 USD (I paid 50 at Target). They have decent noise cancellation and are very comfy for long airplane rides. Sound quality is above average. Great for the price, but its not the best.
As far as earbuds, I use the ones that come with my SE BT headset and they sound pretty good. Again, not great, but good enough. The real limit factor is the phone itself. It's not the best audio player in my opinion.
Where can I find these?

NOTE: There is no microphone, which might make this pointless.
Also, if you want accurate sound reproduction, these are EXCELLENT. However, if you need ear-drum bursting bass, look elsewhere. I can honestly say these phones are some of the most accurate I've ever used, and I've bought some EXPENSIVE cans in my day.
JL buds, they require 24hr burn in, the have a wireless phone with a mic, and the sound quality is amazing.

Hedphones with mic, volume and track control?

Hi,
does anyone use headphones other than the provided ones, and with microfone, volume and track control?
Thank you.
Best regards.
any comment here... is LG compatible with some other brand like Sony, iPhone, Samsung or Nokia?
Yeah, I'd like to know that too. It would be nice to have these controls.
Well, i can report that the Sony Ericsson handset that i have doesnt work, the iPhone headset mic doesnt seem to work either but the buttons kind of do.
currently using Nokia Bluetooth Stereo Headset BH-503 on my optimus
I've been testing some nokia in-ear headphones i had , but they doesn't work properly, you can listen only one channel, if you press and hold the button you can listen in stereo.
I lost my favorite headphones, so i've been using the stock ones.
I'm surprised, they are not that bad.
I find that they dont fit in your ear properly, but that could be just me since I've been using in-ear for the past few years.

lg headphones dont fit in my ears too.. sound quality is acceptable but they are uncomfortable
I Got In-Ears!
Indian package has IEM's!
Are comfortable and have good noise isolation too. But just have one button. So track change is possible but not volume change.
Sound Quality is surprisingly good. Low frequencies are punchy. I use them regularly. They seem to be made for each other as high end IEM's are not good for O1. Show up the deficiencies in the output of the Device!
Any guesses to how long the battery will last for music playback?
I think it can go like 20-30 hrs with other radio functions minimized.

I just hazarded a guess as to what the backup might be with the radios turned off. It may well be beyond 40 hrs with that monster of a battery.
As for sound quality i use PowerAMP. Allows me to tweak the sound a bit with the EQ.
And what i mean abt high end IEM was that they are useless on O1 as teh O1 itself does not output audiophile quality sound. So if someone needs absolute quality, they may do well to look at Cowon's range of PMP's but for a daily use mp3 player, O1 is good. I anyway dont like carrying my expensive IEM on overcrowded public transport. Too much snagging of wires has me concerned!

Why is LG partial to India! I mean its not like the earbuds are a big, expensive add-on. They could have just as easily added them to the world wide packages. From what i know the world packages dont contain the pouch too.
Then again, you guys get the phone for free or for $30US odd(or is it contract free in Romania?). While here its contract free and for $260US.
Anyway, its good for LG to setup the phone and package in a manner taht the end user can directly use teh phone. Screen protector applied, check. Pouch, check. 2Gb card, check. Decent earphones, check!
Thank you LG!

I got mine at about $12 for a two year contract at $21/month. It's cheaper than what i was paying before and i got a great phone almost for free so i'm not really complaning about the accesories.

After checking this headset out on the internet I got one too, thanks for the tip! It works perfectly, sound quality is awesome, it is extremely comfortable.
There are just two things which I need to figure out:
1. How to switch off the annoying blue LED indicator light while using it? It is so annoying when you are sitting on a bus, or on some other public transport and it lits up every couple of seconds. I hate it. I painted it black, put ducktape on it, but it is still visible.
Do you know if there is a way to turn this off somehow?
2. Can you use your P500 to do voice activated dialling with the headset? I tried pushing the multifunction button for a couple of seconds but than it turns off. If i press it once, it just beeps but nothing happens. If i press it twice after each other it dials the last number.
Can the P500 and android 2.2 in general do voice dialing?
Other than these two issues, I strongly recommend this headset for anyone, they are absolutely fantastic!
Peace
I'm also looking for a replacement for the bundled IEMs. Two things I dislike about them are - 1. The sound feels muddy/overwhelming bass compared to the Soundmagic PL11 I possess & 2. The mic has that teeny weeny flimsy button.
I considered the ME Electronics M2p M9p etc., the Soundmagic MP21 but they too seem to have that flimsy mic module as well. I'd prefer IEMs to headphones because of the portability offered by the former.
So can anyone suggest something along these lines? Maybe there is an adapter, or a Sony/Nokia mic module with a 3.5mm jack which will work? Thanks a lot.
PS - I'm from India & my budget is ~1500 INR
I bought Plantronics 216 In ear, but mic is not working and volume keys neither. Track control is working well and sound quality is good too, though.

Best In-ear Headphones (use at gym)?

What are the best in-ear headphones that has a mic and buttons for use while on the phone? I plan on using mostly at the gym. Thanks.
Bump, I would love to know too, thats the only time I really use my pandora.
I use the ear phones with mic from my old samsung epic 4g. There in ear thus canceling outside noise and have good bass boost, heck they sound better than iPhone earphones and as far as noise canceling goes I work as a forklift driver and I can barely hear a thing.
Motorola HT820 Bluetooth - not "in-year" but perfect for gym.
JayBird Freedom JF3
These are pretty much probably the best wireless bluetooth headphones out there. Also it's only $100 dollars. You can get it at Best Buy or the website.

I think I would say the absolute highest id pay is like 100. But that's a little steep. I'm aiming for around 30-40 and quality. just seeing what's a good bang for your buck that would certainly be an upgrade to cheapo stock iPhone ones. And The samsung ones the phone came with, the left earbud stopped working a couple days ago. And I haven't even played it that loud.

I bought my Shure 115's for 55 on Amazon. A little out of your budget of 30-40 though. At that range, I'd definitely look at the sennheisers. I had the CX300's and loved them.
and just to confirm the ones you guys listed, the button controls (volume) work for the phone?
i appreciate the help yall

My bad, I totally missed out on the volume control part of your original post... The Shure's I have don't have controls, but I know they have a version that has it. Not sure if it works though.
The Sennheisers do not have controls.
V-Moda is another brand that I think does well with hip-hop music, and I know they have phones that have controls on the wires.
Yup - if you were looking for generic headphone ideas I'd be able to help, but the volume/call control/mic stuff leads to "no clue".
In my opinion, Skullcandy headphones with Comply foam eartips provide great "bang for the buck" but I have no idea whether their call control features work with our phones. My Skullcandy Titans are plain vanilla "listen only" units.
Klipsch s4i may work

so based on some searching around.. there really aren't any headphones that allow u to use the volume controls for the phone (or any android phone for that matter). this sucks.

Those don't work with Android apparently for the controls. They just released these for that very purpose.
But yeah, on a budget, you can't beat these earbuds for sound quality.
The one that came with the phone dont do it for you? im on the same boat as you music wise and after im done listening to music i need some time to recuperate my hearing back. sounds all smuffled.
what im saying is that the ones that come with the phone are fine. good bass. i really like them.
I have iBeats, and really like them but the volume rocker does not work. would be nice if it did
you wont find volume rocker support, just a single button where the function depends on the app. i think it has to do with android not having a set standard on pin-out so the app developers dont write these things in (there are i think 4 posible pinouts, 2 posible ground loop locations of those pinouts, the i9000 and vibrant are different from and completely incompatable with the captivate and infuse do to a different ground loop location, not sure which standard the other sgs devices use..) you need a single button set of headphones with a mic that is compatable with the iphone, not the vibrant/i9000.
i hear that dennon makes amazing headphones in the <$40 range. year shure and klipsh and etymotics are great but for what you are looking for the dennons are about the best in that price range. dont go with the ibeats monster doesnt know jack about headphones and all there products are grossely overprices, i bought them out of curiosity and yeah they're loud, have nice packaging and good build quality but the sound isnt so impressive.

The left ear speaker blew. So that's why Im in the market for some decent ones. I was thinking of just ebaying the same OEM ones. But that Klipsh s4a is sorta intriguing. Pricey though. I'll take a look at the dennons. Thanks.

If you are willing to spend $50 then I'd recommend the Plantronics BackBeat 903+. They are bluetooth with builtin working call controls, pause/play button (tested and works with pandora and music player apps), and volume control buttons.
Yes they are pricey but with all those features and being completely wireless (minus the cord that connects the 2 ear pieces) they are well worth it. The sound quality is awesome IMO.
Edit: Here'e the link for them on Amazon.

ok how about this:

anyone have experience with this or any other app that can confirm that all these apple iphone compatible headsets with volume buttons will work with android?

looks cool, never tried. but even this app doesn't add volume rocker support. it is not a feature availible on android as far as i know. this app interperates the single button press and relays the command to android. volume control is accomplished by a long press or something.
but i can confirm that you want apple compatible headphones, just ones with a single button, not 3! the ground ring and control ring are identical to the iphone. do not buy headphones labeled for the galaxy s if there is such a thing. att must have spec'd the headphones to be iphone compatible to ensure there headsets for the iphone would work. there are atleast 4 standards for pinouts and the european sgs and the vibrant and others use a different standard.
Klipsch Image S4A Headphones for Android

Headphones w/ mic

I just got my MT4GS and I really need to rom it, but I just got a great Trident case now I need some head phones with a mic.
Is there any issue with any new roms making any of the buttons nonoperational?
Do y'all have recommendations of good headphones with a microphone?

I've been using my Skullcandy that I got for free from T&C. People can even hear me when I'm riding my bike going about 30mph. Anything over that and it gets too windy. Also works well at the shooting range (I use it as ear protection there).
Overall I'm happy with them since they were free, but I've heard a lot more good things about the beats and bose earphones. Ya know, the ones that are actually supposed to noise cancel and stuff lol.

I found these Mee M31P earphones and I've been very impressed with them. The build quality is top-notch, and after a burn-in (I connected them to my old MP3 player and let it play at a loud volume continuously for about 24 hours), the sound quality is just amazing. Even at low volumes, you can still get the full spectrum with all the bass and treble you want. The mic works very well for calls. I lucked out and got them on a Woot-Off for $16, but even the $25 price on Amazon is well worth it. http://www.amazon.com/MEElectronics-M31P-BK-Headphones-Microphone-Smartphones/dp/B004OBZ2UO
I actually got these ”Smokin Buds” skullcandy earphones today, but after looking at the reviews I think I'm just gonna get another pair.
Apparently they break really easily, and I'm not a big fan of that.
I'll be sure to let you know when they break, but so far the sound is awesome. Only problem is that the button seems to push itself at 60+ mph. Irritating.

Thanks! Are you riding a motorcycle 60mph?
I like the idea of noise canceling headphones. I rooted and rommed to XMC's Jellybean, I love it (!), maybe I can try some headphones out at Bestbuy or something!
Heh yeah. Really irritating when it changes songs every three seconds by itself. I also don't think it was made to noise cancel, they just fit in my ears really well.
Personally, I think they have excellent sound. Next time I buy earphones, however, I'm going to read reviews first. I swear, if these break...hahaha =D!
What's your price range, OP? I go through a lot of different brands so I can give some insight.
Actually I wanna hear your recommendation as well. What do you suggest under 50 and 100 dollars?

These are going to be about the earbuds only because headsets are big as hell, and I find earbuds more convenient and cleaner looking. More people would probably fit more with earbuds because most people love convenience.
Under 100, but over 50:
Klipsh Image S4i's are really good. Why? Sound is clear, noise-isolated earbuds, and there is a nice 3 button control set up (volume, call/end call, play music, skip music, etc.). Also, the really good thing about the S4's is the microphone. There is an echo-cancelling feature to it which is a definite plus, and the sound quality of the bass is very good. The colorway of these earbuds is very simplistic as the color is finished with black and chrome. Very clean. Only flaw is the way the buttons take you out of applications, but if you press the buttons, wouldn't that mean you needed to call someone?
Klipsh S4A is good too...I like the S4i's better because it's cheaper and it's pretty much the same thing quality wise. However, you can probably find the S4A's for cheap if you look around.
Lady Gaga Heartbeats are good too. Very unique design to it, and the wire on it (the flat one) is pure quality because it's tangle free pretty much. Seems like it would never break. Sound is VERY good. There's a nice case that comes with this too. I think Monster made this... Monster is very high end, so their credibility should say a lot about these earphones. The microphone is alright though. It's clear, but what makes this headset good is the sound it produces.
Shure headsets are definitely some to look into, even with the lower end products. The design is definitely why I would recommend these to anyone. However, Klipsh ****s on this Shure in the under 100's class.
Etymotic Research MC3's are really nice, but not worth the price... It's a balanced headset, but lacks so much compared to the higher ended Etymotic headsets. I just put these here because I've tried this out.
Beats Audio cheap version...overrated /story. lol I love the hype with the Beats. Good brand, but so far, the Klipsh makes the Beats look crappy, and the Klipsh is cheaper.
Under 50:
MEElectronics brand in general. Good stuff for what it is. Can't really say anything. It's under 50 so why not, right? It's good for what it is.
Ultimate...more expensive but overrated.
NuForce NE-7M is a good headset to use. It's simplistic in style. Sound is very close to those that are under 100. This is definitely one of those earpieces that is made for the laid-back chilled out person. I like these a lot.
Skullcandy Ink'd...it's alright too. Lots of flaws. Wire is always tangled, and it looks cheesy. Sound isn't the best either. But it is what it is, and that's why its price reflects upon the headset in itself.
Skullcandy Smoking Buds are nice in design. Sound is good for what it is. It's kind of too loud though and doesn't seem balanced (for example, the high-end frequencies are very noticeable and it's annoying to hear). It's cheap and that's what matters. Also, the wire is very durable. This is my go-to if I needed something right away and my main headset broke (they have this in almost every retail store). Flaw with the Smoking Buds is the button. Microphone is clear, but the button is annoying. Only one button, which means no control settings to really use. It either opens up your music app, shuts down your music app, or makes a speed dial call to the last person you talked to.
Best choice for under 100 in general is the Klipsh. It's compatible with the Android (I would know ), and it allows control (which is what I think most people would want). The sound is pure quality, and the microphone is very clear. It's also durable, nice looking, and simple.
Best choice for under 50, I would go with the NuForce NE-7M. It's about exactly 50 dollars, but the sound is good for what it is, and it would suit most people who are always on the go and aren't able to cough up an extra 20 dollars for some Klipsh earphones. The design is very minimal, but's a good thing because it's a straight-to-the-point type of earphones to use.
Hopefully, this helps.
Thanks! I'll be looking into the Klipsh headphones for my next purchase. You seem to be well versed with earbuds (which I prefer, actually) and it's always good to read opinions.
As someone who rides every day, earbuds have become a commodity. It's the only way to entertain myself on long rides lol.
Thanks Gheng, you've given an excellent place to start, I don't really have any base to start from, I've been using the earbud/mic sets included with a phone. They have always been lacking in some way.
I'm going to look on Amazon for reviews on each of these models you've talked about to develop a matrix. :cyclops:
+1 Klipsch Image S4. I have the normal set of earbuds, and they are amazing. They still sound great even after a year of daily use. But the cable is fairly thin, so take care of them and they will take care of you.

No worries. I usually base my opinions off of actual experience and reviews from highly respected sources. It feels good to usually have almost the exact same opinions as most of these credible sources.

Yes, the cable is thin. One of the biggest downsides I hated about the S4's. They are so nice though.
Too bad my son broke mine. :crying:

Are you guys with the Klipsch S4is able to have control of songs and calls? I've read random things about ROMs that don't support the functions of multi-button headset controllers? I have the JB rom with the CM 6 kernal (I think).
I believe Klipsch makes an Image S4 set called the S4A. Specifically for android devices. S4i is for the iPhone

I never used it with the JB rom (I have it Alpha 5 JB rom flashed)... However, I did try different multi-buttons controlled earsets and they worked fine for me. I didn't try the S4i's yet with the rom yet.

Both work well on the MyTouch 4g Slide. I prefer the i's over the a's because of the experience I had with both. Plus, it was a bit better in price and sound.
I advise people to try out both if they can. Personal preference goes a long way.

I recommend Phonak Audeo earphones over the rest mentioned if you can find a deal on them. I know they have a version with the mic, but I don't know if they have music playback controls
I tried the Klipsh Image S4i's, they were great, but the extra buttons didn't work, just the one for pause/play/answer did. These worked really well, I liked the sound isolating function, I've never had these type of ear buds before, but really like them. I returned them due to the cost.
I'm going to get the MEElectronics M6P-BK Sports version with the sports ear wire. The reviews on Amazon seem to be mostly good.

I have some MEElectronics M31P-BK that are really good, the sound quality after burning in for 24 hours is amazing for that price. Has only 1 button but that works to play/pause or accept calls. The sound is actually a little richer, to my ears, than the UrBeats by Monster that I just bought.
