Music Beta sync not syncing. - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my invite on Wednesday and added all 3,000+ songs but the only thing that is showing up in my music app on my Xoom (and Droid x) is the free 100 songs or so that Google gives you when you sign up. I made sure that my Google account is selected in the Music app settings. I tried clearing data/cache, uninstalled/reinstalled music app but still nothing on either device. When I go tto settings > accounts and sync > Google account there is a red exclamation point next to the "Sync Music" option with the error message "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Anyone have any idea what is going on and how to fix?

I guess that's why it is called "Beta"?

or they could be having problems. Stop freaking out.

Well that's why I'm asking, seeing if there are any others experiencing the same problem. No need to be an asshole

I'm not. Mine is uploading all my music right now. 1900 of 7589 lol. Both devices are syncing for me. My nexus and xoom

I have close to 6000 of 15729 on the Xoom now. Its working. I would let google know.

I seen that red dot next to syncing problem. They're having some sever error probably. I clear the cache and restarted and the next morning it was working again.

I've been having the same error on my SGSII and my Xoom.

Galaxy Tab 10.1
I am still having sync problems on the tablet but my HTC thunderbolt syncs fine. Anyone else experiencing something similar? I realize it is beta but just curious if others are seeing the same thing.

i emailed Google and heard back. They said they were experiencing problems and that it should be resolved within 24 hours.

My tablet now seems to be fully functional! Awesomeness

Got invite for my verizon xoom, registered, and I can play music fine via web interface.
My tablet won't sync though
I do not have the 'music' sync option in settings->'applications and sync'.
How do I enable that ?
(I don't have it on my phone either, if that helps)

Me neither...I get the options to sync BOOKS, GMAIL, CONTACTS, DOCS and CALENDAR...not MUSIC though. This is on a DroidX that just got the Gingerbread update

I also have a DroidX with Gingerbread update and my situation is the same as yours. No Music option in the google sync. I have uploaded the music (took almost 24 hours and the wifi connection was painfully slow during this time). I see the music online but not on the Droid.

Same problem here. My Samsung Galaxy S2 has the "Sync Music" option but not the Xoom!

[Q] Android Market "Starting Download" issue

(Not sure if this is the correct sub-forum to ask, but here goes)
Has there been a fix for the old "Starting Download" issue on the Android Market? I still can't download anything from it. I know that resetting my phone will work (for a while), but it's not an option right now. Any help?
P.S. I've searched the forum as well and was not able to find a concrete answer.
I was told that starting Google Talk should make sure you're logged in to Google's server, which is (supposedly) what causes that problem.

Hmm, I tried that but I'm already logged in
That issue has haunted me for a while - I get a cold sweat anytime a download start takes longer than usual.
I personally don't believe it's an issue with your device (as I've seen some argue it to be), rather it's with your gmail account. When a factory reset didn't fix my problem, I went to a tmobile store where my buddy works, and we put my sim card into every android device he had (mt3g, mts, garmin, and one other I can't remember), only to find that none would allow me to download.
For me the workaround I'm currently using is to set up the device with another gmail account newly created for the purpose of being able to download apps, then set up my "real" gmail (the one I actually use) to sync my contacts and calendar. The only problem is that I can't use my real gmail on gchat, since that only signs into the primary account you used when setting up the device. I don't use gchat much on my phone anyway, so it wasn't that big of a deal.
I suppose it's possible my phone corrupted my account somehow, but I had deleted caches, updates, and anything else I'd heard had worked for others, but to no avail. If you get to the bottom of the problem, be sure to let me know.
Good luck!

Hi! Thanks for the tip but as it turns out - I can't even add another account It always produce an error saying "can't establish connection". Any idea why this is the case?
The "Starting Download" issue for me, was unfixable and related to my google account. I created a new one and it worked flawlessly.

Hmm...that sounds like a connectivity issue and not a problem with the device. I'd say reboot your phone and try again.
Just to be clear, I created a new gmail address and used that during the initial setup of the phone (after a factory reset of course), then went to settings> accounts and sync> select add account and entered the old gmail I've used forever (which is why just ditching it and using the new one wasn't an option - I didn't want to bother notifying everyone I had a new email).
You'll see that you only have the option to sync contacts and gmail with a secondary gmail address - not calendar. To get around this (since my old gmail is the calendar I want to sync), set up the new gmail to share calendars w/ the old one. Once that's done, you'll see in your calendar app settings on the phone the option to sync the old gmail calendar and not the new one.
Hope that made sense! It's really not difficult to do - just annoying that it has to be done at all. I wish someone would figure out why some gmail accounts get stuck at starting download. What a pain.
I had this problem for awhile, but it was because I was task killing Google Talk. When I disabled the task killer it worked fine.
I read a few comments on the help community in the market to go to applications, manage apps, select the market then uninstall updates. This worked for a while but very intermittent. Worth a go though

I generally just wait, I believe it's a server issue...I eventually get the download but, yeah, I wait and then go back to the store and attempt to start the download again...and that seems to work.

Yes downloading from the market is related to the Google Talk app. I once deleted it from /system and it did the same thing.

Thanks for all of the replies. I know of the delete Market update solution but when I browse for Market in the Manage Application screen, I never see the "update" portion there. Any other tips?

Issue with my phone

LOL there are quite a few things but this is mainly the biggest thing, it is getting to be annoying with this phone in particular
Is the fact I keep having to sign into my gmail...like every hour.
I have 3 main gmail accounts
One for pleasure/personal use
One for work
One for school
(I am considering switching back to WP7 & hotmail...but that is another story)
It seems every hour, I'm having to resign into Gmail. And it's not a huge deal but it is a bit annoying seeing the little notification sign that is saying that you need to sign into [email protected]
Furthermore, my Gmail is not pushing to my phone whatsoever so I am not getting any emails without having to sync it manually...even though it is said to get it whenever available.
Idk what to do or what exactly the issue is but it is truly annoying. Any suggestions would be nice?
:O wrong place for this sweety. But I have 5 gmail accounts setup and 2 personal and working fine. Which rom are you using stock? do you have them all setup under account and sync? I remember when I got MT4G and checked 2 acc's from stock rom and worked fine.
lol well where should i post this at then?
and ummm, i am actually using the phone the same exact way out of the box
and everything is fine under accounts & sync...just none of them sync or hardly
ever
You are using GMail App and not EMail App right? Ok lets see you have Background Data and Auto Sync checked? Open GMail app and click Menu> More> Setting> Notification Setting> Email Notification checked? Also make sure you have Update Schedule with fixed time on Send & Receive in GMail setting.
Can u even get gmail over wifi?

Oh my mistake. Lol I didn't have my background data enabled after all haha.
But the sign in issue is annoying

It's all good. I'm probably just going to trade this for a windows phone anyway.

I have 4 gmail accounts sync'd on my phone and don't have to sign in on them and get things pushed to them just fine. I'm also on the stock rom...
Just a random thought here, but try deleting one of your email accounts & set it up using the regular mail app & not the gmail app. Just giver it a shot & see.
I have 1 thru the gmail app & 3 thru the regular mail app (live, hotmail & school) & they all work fine

Facebook Log-in issue

For some reason I can log-in using the FB app fine, but I'm getting an error when I try to log-in for my sync. It says Log-in failed. Try later. It isn't a password issue because I use the same password to log-in with the app. I have to turn of FB sync or I keep getting the error in my Notification Bar. Anyone else seeing this issue? I'm sure it is something on FB's end, but why would it only affect log-in via Android settings and not the actual FB app or website?
i have this same problem on my atrix...its annoying.
I've been asking for days now, same problem. The only way I could sign in was through the data network and not Wi-Fi. Still can't sync as it gives me sync is experiencing problems both on Wi-Fi and network data.
Added: For giggles I went back to stock, just to see if it was a GB issue. Same problem, fyi.
Just got sync to work over data network.
Can't get it to work on wifi OR data. It sucks because all the apps that have share capabilities no longer show Facebook as an option, so I can't upload any vids or pics to my wall. Just took some cool videos of me at the motocross track that I wanted to post.
I saw somebody say you need to remove the samsung app from face book website under the website application settings. then remove the face book sync account and readd

Finally got logged in. Not sure what caused the issue, but looks like it was on FB's end and not the phone. Just noticed you can't upload videos directly to FB. Have to send them to YouTube first. That sucks.
Im sure glad I wasn't the only one with this issue, after a while of trying to figure it out, I'm pretty sure the best thing is to try again later, it'll work eventually...

I'll check it out, but I was referring to when you go into the Gallery. When you select Share there is a list of various sites (Photobucket, Gmail, etc.) you can upload to. Facebook is one of the choices in the list when it is a photo, but is not there for videos.

[Q]Facebook app, friends list = app crash

Hello
Since i got my Xoom, the facebook app have been a little dodgy.
Whenever i try to browse my friends list the app force closes. It has always been like this. Even the new version that came out today does this.
Anyone know a solution to this?
On my Nexus One this works fine.
And also, after adding an facbook account on the Xoom in Accounts, the facebook acount isn't visible like it's on a phone. How come?
I have the same problem I think I updated facebook 3 times since with no difference. really annoying if you wanna check yourself and friends in somewhere and then the dam thing crashes.
Hoping this will get fixed at some point

Have you tried FriendCaster? It doesnt crash at all on our Xooms. I wound up buying the pro version because I just thought it would take Facebook forever to fix it.
FB app sucks on hc. I just use dolphin browser for my fb'ing. Saves the headache.

Sync to Google calendar on Litening Rom v2.3 failure
Hi,
I'm am currently experiencing a similar issue. I recently rooted a Samsung Galaxy S2 (i91000) with an original kernal (XWKK2) and flashed the Litening Rom v2.3 onto the device. Everything else works fine but the syncing with google calendar. I noticed in the changelog that v2.2 had added the google calendar but I'm unsure whether the syncing aspect was added. I was originally intending to post to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
but because I am a new member I am unable to. I'm wondering if other people are experiencing this issue?
The error message was very vague. I will include it on a follow up post. I am hoping to bump this post as I haven't been able to find a solution yet.
Many thanks for the help,
Pat
Edited text: I'm hoping to get a response first just so I know whether to install ADB - i.e. whether this is already a known issue or not.
I had this problem and solved the syncing last night. On your mobile device go into settings, applications, manage, all, then find calendar storage and clear data. Ok that and reboot. It will then resync with your online calendar.
See vmiller's post in following link.
https://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/forum/m/#!topic/android-market/wAutrBgUWM8
Calendar was syncing with my kf but not my Droid X. Did this on my Droid x and it syncs fine now.
Thanks so much!
I'll try this soon.
Looks like this will solve the issue.
I'll thanks the post when I can - did more then 8 today
Cheers,
Pat
Oh, and only need to do that once.
It solved the problem of new events created online or on kf not showing up on my Droid and it solved the problem of new events created on Droid not appearing online and on my kf.
IMHO , when i log in my google account , the calendar start sync
Hi guys,
I've tried it on the phone and it seems to work after the restart. However, if you restart the phone again (for any reason), the sync issues reoccur. I've found that if I clear the data, restart the phone and re-sync it works but it fails to sync again once the phone is restarted. I'll stick with the workaround for the moment but I hope a fix comes about.
Cheers,
Pat
