[MOD] Stock-like battery with % shown :) - HTC Desire S

Hi guys!
As there was currently no battery MOD I'd like and I want to have percentage shown in a stock-llike battery, I sat down and created one myself...
Now I'm sharing it with you

The font is Arial, normal, 18pix font, I thought about making it a pixel bigger, but I liked it 18pix after all...I also thought of making it Bold, but at that point I already had 80 images so for starters I think this will do...
But, any suggestions are wellcomed
I've made is a flashable zip (signed) with framework-res.apk from LBC Saga ROM v. 0.4.2.
So if you're on another ROM and want this, just download those png's and incorporate them to your framework
If youre not sure how to do that, see THIS HOWTO!
DOWNLOAD flashable ZIP for Fallout v.5.0.0
DOWNLOAD flashable ZIP
DOWNLOAD just those PNG's
If you like it, click THANKS button

Interesting, I will try all that stuff when my DS will be unlocked...
Could you make screenshots directly w/ phone ?

Can i use these PNGs for modding an HTC Legend ROM? Or are them too big?

Haha, I had legend before I made a MOD too These are HDPI (38 x 38 pix).. use THESE instead! Cheers

None of those files would work quite that way!
Either flash the flashable ZIP via CWM as an update (if you use LBC MOD)
or incorporate pngs to your com.htc.resources.apk file....
You can use my HOWTO

Nice stuff bro, but can you post screenshots of this being used on the phone??

OK Screenshots uploaded Check the 1st post

im new in HTC, can i know how can i use this?

Right... Are you S-OFF and rooted?

Really like this....do you know if the flash able ZIP would work on LBC Saga ROM v0.4.6 ?
I'm new to Android so will need to read up on what frameworks are otherwise!

Dr Romca,
Just jump ship from my WinMo 6.1.
manage to get my desire S-Off and rooted. badly need this battery mod.
but can't flash your zip file . attached is my framework-res.apk.
can you please please incorporate the png into this framework file.
many thanks.
golok.

I will upload a LBC 0.4.6 version of the flashable ZIP today afternoon when I get back from work...
but you should be able to incorporate the PNG's yourself, I did a noobie-frendly howto in Legend section HERE
It should work on any ROM and any apk file...

i got problem on flashing the zip using clockwork mod recovery.
the messages are
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by google in android 1.5.
it was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the clockworkmod 3.0 gingerbread based recovery.
please switch to edify scripting (update-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
installation aborted.
i'm using clockworkmod v3.2.0.0
BTW i'm on Desire S SEA standard ROM on android 2.3.3.
will try to go thru the noobie guide.
btw can i just push the framework-res.apk via adb after extracting from your zip file ?
thanks for the reply

Right, I think the update is amend... but it would cause you bootloops anyway, because you have odexed ROM and a different one than I modded...try the howto instead

@ ALL: I did not realize that I can't use Amend scripting for DS, which only has CWM 3.x.x.x, so the flashable ZIP probably won't work at this time, I will post an update and I will post a fresh flashable ZIP for the 0.4.6 version later today...
Cheers!

thanks . i'll incorporate this into my framework-res.apk .. might be a awhile if time permits.

Yep. Most probably flashing the theme before DT's Apps2SD might result in a clean install of the theme. However, I am not so sure about the correct order in which things should be flashed -
ROM, Kernel, Apps2SD and Theme
OR
ROM, Kernel, Theme and then Apps2SD
Could someone enlighten me please

Hi, follow these steps:
The attached zip is not flashable.
Get the images from the zip.
Open the theme in WinRAR.
Open system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi
Put the images there.
Click Yes on the popup.
Don't resign.
Flash in recovery.
I won't be following this thread so you can post furthur questions on my thread (in the sig) if you like.
Thnx for staying on top of things and getting this out quick. Great job.

More Batteries for status bar

It seems that a lot of people like my battery icons, every time I post a screen shot somewhere someone always asks "what battery is that?"
So...
These are MetaMorph themes and they work with the latest Sense builds. Your ROM must already have the battery percent on your ROM already for these to work.
NOTE: These have been tested on the following ROMs:
Skyraider 3.0 and above
Wes342's Super-Z
Nils Business_Sense_Desire-Z
I will do some more research and find out what other ROMs are compatable.
The ROMs above use a folder in the framework named "drawable-hdpi" some of the other ROMs use a folder named"drawable-hdpi-v4"
I am currently working on these for the Virtuous 3.1.0 Rom.
I can't express enough how important it is to do a nand backup first, you are modifying system files! Be forewarned, I can not be held responsible for anything that goes wrong.
I have had hit and miss luck with MetaMorph, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have had a couple of occasions where it has locked up my phone and I have had to restore from a backup.
Alternative method:
If you are familiar with modifying framework files you can also modify your framework-res.apk file and use adb to push it back to your phone.

I could possibly but I don't know how soon. I do this in my spare time (which I don't have a lot of).
There are 137 batteries counting the charge images so it takes a lot of time.

Hopefully you done a backup first.
I done some research and Virtuous Rom has a different framework than Skyraider 3.5 and SuperZ ROMs.
It looks like I should have done some more research before posting these.
Restore from your backup and then try this file for the WIFI, it should work for you.
LINK
Let me know if it works and I will make the battery files compatable with your ROM as well.
I will edit the original post.
Well I got it to work using ninjamorph by manually inserting the wifi pngs into the framework.apk. What I noticed about the battery pack is that your script isn.t inserting the png's into the right folder. The icons look great though good work.

UPDATE...
Added clearer instruction.
Added Gauge Batteries
they look great. any aosp?
You have in your instructions that they work for Sense roms but I just installed the Red mod. battery on CM6.1 so like you said metamorph is funny like that.
I can't get the wifi one to work.. running Uber Z sense rom..
Different ROMs use different framework structure.
I just checked the UberZ ROM and here is what you need to do to make it work.
Go to the theme folder and rename the "drawable-hdpi" folder to "drawable-hdpi-v4"
Then it should work.

[Tutorial]Making your own theme using UOT Kitchen(WORKS WITH NEW GINGERBREAD ROMS!))

(Most of this tutorial was taken from mendozinas on XDA)
Kitchen originally was built for HTC Desire, but now it supports most devices with Android OS.
Kitchen takes files from your rom and adds modifications you choose.
I have no association with this site, just a fan of it =)
With UOT you can customize the notification bar, notification bar icons, boot animation, window animations, and much more!
THIS WORKS WITH ANY 2.2 and 2.3 ROM!
Just an example of what I did to the notification bar icons on Wolfbreak's ROM using this website.

}
Make a backup before you do this. I am not responsible for what happens to your device. (Tough to mess up =) )
How to use kitchen
1. Go to Kitchen page http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/
2. Browse through available mods and choose what you need (press generate preview)
3. Go to File upload section and upload your files or choose rom from kitchen's list (most roms in the list is for HTC Desire) Make sure you do this or you cannot finish your process. I have only seen Trips old 1.5 MIUI ROM and Wolfs 007.1 on the list. Send a request in to UOT Kitchen to add any ROM to the kitchen list.
OR
3. I suggest navigating to your rom, clicking system, then framework, then framework-res(for froyo ROMS only)
For gingerbread ROMS just upload the SystemUI file as well along with the step above.
4. In the same tab you will see "Select flashable zip scripting" Make sure you fill the bubble for "Amend scripting."
Cyanogenmod7 rom: Cyanbread.apk or Androidian.apk or any theme for ThemeChooser (rename as you like it to appear in theme menu)
NOTE 1: if you uploading theme apk - do not upload any other files (you're just wasting trafic, because kitchen will ignore additional files)
NOTE 2: Font packs and Bootanimation do not requires uploading files.
4. Go to Summary section. All choosen mod must be in green background. If there is mod in red background - it means you did not finished it.
press Submit work to kitchen
5. Remember UOT file name. You can wait for a kitchen to cook your request, but after 5min waiting will be stopped (nothing to worry about).
6. Go to Pickup page http://uot.dakra.lt/pickup/ and wait for your file to appear (it can take up to 30min or more)
7. Download UOT zip into SD card of your phone
8. Reboot into xrecovery and flash the UOT zip.
9. Reboot and enjoy =)

Highlight system files because your uploading Wolfs Rom. Make sure you extract WB-009 Rom into a folder you can navigate to. Then when you have a folder go to the system--->framework---> Then framework res.apk. Then go to upload and then your good =)
Also make sure to highlight in "Amend scripting" instead of "edify scripting"

[THEME] Gloss Blue Sense Gingerbread Theme v1

Aloha!
This is my ported theme from the 2.2 world to 2.3.
It's pretty much the same as my Froyo one as you can see HERE and Desire thread, only a few changes. Works fine and no bugs so far.
Thank Sergio76 for his png's which I included from his ROMs.
Flash the .zip from recovery (make sure signature verification is turned off!), reboot and wait until you see the lockscreen.
You need a rooted device and S-Off for this to work.
Theme only tested on InsertCoin Sensation ROM but should work on all Sense 3 Sensation ROMs.
If you update, download the zip from here and install it all over again(it will install only modified apk's so it won't take long)
Then you are ready to go!

I've tested it on baadnwz's device and it worked, I don't really know how it can't work for others.
Hello
Yes i am S-OFF,root and with InsertCoin ROM v1.06.
Maybe baad's device have the eng hboot and it does a difference for your theme ?
i never have trouble with your theme and insertcoin on my desire and i do the same for the sensation but nothing.
Install on recovery mode find my pyramid and say install is done but it's really fast (like it doesn't do anything).
thx for your answer and soz for my english ;-)
I just try with Android Revolution HD and dont work....
Nope. Doesn't work here either. Insertcoin 1.0.6 obviously. and a HBOOT won't determine if the theme will work, so i know its not that. Was the theme made based off of 1.0.4 or 1.0.2?
doesn't work for me. Installation runs without warnings, but way to fast for the size of the zip. Used 7zip to integrate it into the ic 1.05 ROM and that just worked fine.

Thx it's working
I LOVE this theme so much. Any way it can be ported for Insert Coin 1.0.9? I tried the 7zip approach and decided I didn't want to touch apk's that were probably outdated.
An easier way to get to install is to unzip the theme then create a folder named "system" and place the "app" and "framework" folders in the system folder you created, then rezip the system folder and the META-INF folder then install as normal. Worked perfect for me. Couldn't get it to work on the InsertCoin 2.3.4 ROM but works perfect on 1.0.6 will test on 1.0.9 later today.
And BTW, thanks for the great theme!! You did an excellent job!

This method of updating uses an advanced injection method compatible with all ROMs and versions. Just wipe Dalvik Cache and flash ZIP file with CWMR.

This theme is something of a 'proof of concept'. I hope that others will take it and run with it!!

Thanks to Matius44 and all the others who helped to figure out proper ICS nAndroid restore method, I decided to resume playing around with flashable theme patching.
While work on porting True-Blue-ICS [Framework MOD][Update 2.27.12]All ICS ROMS from demo23019 for our Galaxy Note xHDPI resolution, I thought I would release this teaser to see what can be done with "vrtheme" patching.
This method of patching is similar to metamorph, and allows you to change out only select PNG files INSIDE your CURRENT APK files on your device. That means these patches will work IN CONJUCTION with tremerone's XTREMER Animations or Matius44's Recent Apps Mod or even any of m3dd0g's Themes, etc. etc. It also means that this theme will work with all ICS ROMs, given that PNG file names align correctly.
Enjoy! Hit Thanks.

i kept seeing ICS rom compatible but you mentioned Stunner in particular whom is AOKP.
If i am not wrong, this is especially catered for AOKP and will not work in CM9's variation example Cyanofree, right?

Should work in AOSP, AOKP, CM9, and maybe even TW. The only problems would be the battery mod is called "stat_sys_battery_circle_0.png" such as on Stunner CircleMod setting. So the PNG images would still be injected, just your animation XML wouldn't reference it. Make sense?
I'm pretty sure "picture_unknown.png" is the same on all ROMs system\app\Phone.apk\res\drawable-xhdpi. So the little Ice Cream Sandwich Andy would be waving at you on any ROM.
In fact, this method of PNG injection was developed to work across hardware platforms and not just ROMs.

Help Requested for .9.PNG Files
Updated OP with new MOD for True Blue ICS, a work in progress.
Please note that I require some help with the resolution conversion of several .9.PNG files attached. (THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP)
In order to complete the True_Blue_ICS_Note theme, there are several .9.PNG files that need to be resized to the correct xHDPI resolution. Attached are the HDPI files that need resized to XHDPI and .9 chunk patched. I would rather have someone try to explain it to me rather than do it for me. Teach a man to fish and all that
Thanks and enjoy!
