[Q] batteries??????????? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Does anyone know if i get one of those extended life batteries that i am hearing so much about and i was wondering.... If the system is set to read the stock batterys stats then is there anything different that i have to do once i put one of those higher powered batteries in the phone? Do i just have to calibrate it? i want to get one for the extra life but not at the expense of having stats that are way off. thanks in advance!

I havent seen any yet but If your looking for ways to zave battery just hold the lock button and turn off mobile connection

Not being rude but there are literally hundreds of posts like this. For this phone alone there are about 4 or 5 threads. No need to start another one. Please just post in an existing thread about extended batteries.
Look up Powerskin for your phone as well.

NEVERMIND! ill recieve help else where

I just read the whole intire (every single freaking word) thread about official batterys in the accessory thread, and it delivered no answers. It seems as if the people in that thread would rather argue, than help the movement and find the best alternitive. Does anyone know of a battery for the inspire, that would deliver better battery life?
I have tried this aswell. Could not find answers ... being a heavy user , I did the next best thing. I Installed a ROM which gave me a good battery life. I am currently using Gingerbeast and I am pretty happy that it gets me through most of the day. This is 'my' solution until a decent battery with bigger capacity comes in.
I am sorry this is not the answer you were looking for... however , it may help someone who may want to go that route!

Yeah i def plan on rooting and flashing whatever sense rom there are, that was gonna be my next step after i receive the phone tomorrow. I know with my old cappy there was a rom that conerved battery and boosted my battery life by atleast 3 or 4 hours a day. Amazing what the devs can do,but me,im a VERY HEAVY user but im only using my phone from around 5pm until maybe 2am because of my work shcedule. I just hope a better battery comes out. My whole past week consisted of 2384720589 million google searches and reading through 84573809 million threads to see if i should get an atrix,or an inspire and i chose the inspire. After all the android phones ive had,i want this one to be something that makes me wanna stick with it for my 2 years. ehh,we'll see
If you guys want good battery. I have my wife's inspire running inspired saga rom using the 12.35..... radio and using juice defender and she avgs 1d 4hrs on one single charge with the stock battery. Just thought i would share that. Also it is 100% stable.

Yeah, I am using juice defender as well. Not a fan of the fact that it toggles my data on a schedule ... but hey... it sure helps.
Yeah , some replacement battery is sure to come along ! Right now, you are probably better off flashing the right rom and working with it a little bit. I am sure when a genuine/ good quality high capacity battery comes in.... we will surely see the "OMG...Inspire's new battery can power my house" threads

The thing is, due to the design of the phone, there's not a lot of wiggle room to make a larger capacity battery.
A larger capacity battery has to be physically bigger in size. That works for phones that have the battery on the back side of the phone, because you can provide a modified battery cover to accommodate it.
The inspire, not so easy, as it slips inside the phone, from the side, so the only dimension that could be enlarged is the length.
A little more length *might* be possible, but it would be a tight squeeze, and probably wouldn't result in that much of an increase in capacity.
Better to try to focus on optimizing the phone with the existing battery, by way of roms and such, as mentioned, instead of holding your breath waiting for some dramatic advance in battery technology to appear that allows more juice to be stored in the same physical space.

is the evo's battery thicker or wider? i know the evo's wont work but i know it cant be too much bigger

The only possible way to get a larger capacity battery would be very tricky. It would require a battery door that had power posts to contact the battery contacts, while maintaining connection of the required contact points on the battery door. Sounds simple enough, but trust me, the development and production costs of said battery would prolly far outweigh potential profit. As a result, I don't think we'll ever see one those type batteries. I suggest following the advice of the other members previous replies, as their insight is that of a Jedi Master. More like, we are Droidi, they are Droidi Masters. Lmao

Why couldn't they just stick a battery pack that attaches to the back of the phone, and have a wire with a little adapter that goes into the normal battery spot. Make a rubber case to go around it, and hot dang, ta-da you're done.
For me, I use an iSound 8000mAh battery that's about 2 pounds, and cost me all of $80. A bit steap, but being able to fully charge my phone a handful of times on the go makes it worth it to me.

Hooray for deadheads. Anyway, I'm tired of seeing these threads pop up and stick on the first page of the forums in the DHD and Inspire sections. If you have seen how the battery goes in there, there is no way to stick a new one in there without some serious R&D. There have been a number of efforts on xda attempting to dispel the myths that state a battery that's identical in physical volume to the stock battery can hold any more juice. That's a boldfaced lie until something better and more cost-effective than Li-Po comes along. Even the giant batteries that say "3500 mah" usually have 2,xxx mah. I used to not care about the latter because I could make my Wizard, Hermes, Kaiser, and Rhodium last for two or three days on a charge for $10 on ebay. I testmed my "2800 mah" batteries and they were anywhere between 1940 and 2300 mAH, but it was still worth it to me until I got my Rhodium and figured out HTC made an official 2,150 mah battery and door that I tested and sent to xda member "Dougie" to test with a more accurate method than mine and it tested at exactly 2,150 mAH. Stock HTC batteries usually test around 95% of their rated capacity.
I don't want to write a 5 paragraph essay on the chemistry of Li-Po batteries, so please take it from a battery life freak that a larger battery in this phone is impossible. The best they'll be able to do is things like the iPhone's Mophie Juice Pack. My solution is that of the previous poster in that I bought an 8,800 mAH battery that weighs a couple of pounds that I take with me when I go camping for a week or two and use the phone for satnav with satellite imagery. It takes a while to load on GPRS, but who cares when I've got 10,000 mAH of juice? For outdoor sessions greater than 14 days I have a few photovoltaic panels and a waterproof project box to get it to 5V. It'll charge the big battery in about 4 days of direct sunlight as long as I don't uberkill the battery and have to 'shock' it back to life.
Yet another thread on battery. Sigh.

I've seen that type of setup work on some equipment where I work too. Except professionally done so that its housed right and doubled nicely as protection for the devices.
As for the external battery, it isn't much in weight for me, but I tend to go everywhere with some kinda backpack on, or a laptop bag, so to me its just there. Plus when I'm at work, all the outlets are in areas that I'd have to either duck under my desk to mess with my phone, or buy longer USB cables. I just go with the battery, more so since I can use it when out of the office and there isn't any outlets around. Same with like on a plane, at an airport, etc where outlets are crowded or not as enjoyable to work with. Plus the case I have the phone in requires I use a knife to get the stupid thing open, which means changing batteries is ten times the work as plugging in a USB cable.
if you think about it. a few years ago everyone probally thought it was "impossible" to squeeze so much into a phone and make them as thin as they are today. but as technology evolved the manafactuers have put alot into the thinnest phones on the market. so i believe that within time they will make a battery for us thats the same size and has more mAH. just my opinion, others may argue but i mean, when dulecore proccessers came out im sure no one thought we would never see a phone with all that squeezed into a cell phone. never doubt the possibilities

Oh I have no doubt the technology will improve, more juice in a smaller space, kinda like hard drives... Somehow they always manage to get more into the same space.
Just not in time to be an alternative after-market battery solution for this particular phone.

No,people gave bad reviews of battery and argued the fact if there will be a better battery. My question was has anyone found one that boosted it at all. Any,whatsoever. I didn't post in that thread because I didn't want one of those rude asses to jump down my throat. So as I have the right,I started my own thread.

So then to answer your question. I have not read, heard or seen a battery that will do any better than the original. Best bet at this point in time is to by a spare or carry a charger with you.
I have experience much better battery life with custom ROMs vs the stock ROM.

HTC battery improvement procedure

There is a battery conditioning procedure recommended by HTC - probably would work with any battery
To also help with Battery Life you can do these steps exactly:
1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more 2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour 3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour Your battery life should almost double, we have tested this on our devices and other agents have seen a major difference as well
The above is a cut-and-paste from the G2x forum, which also was a cut-and-paste.
Is this for any HTC device or for Sensation or any LiION in general?
Is this only for one time or everyday?
Personally, I don't think it will work.
Send from my awesome HTC Sensation + XDA Premium app.
one time.
it takes a while to do so do the 8 hours overnight, but it did improve my battery life a lot and same with everyone in the g2x forum who tried it. also it was said to do a factory reset before doing this procedure. with a full charge. but it was not part of the procedure that HTC made , the OP post. a factory reset is always good to do on a new phone IMHO though.
This should definitely work. Batteries develop a 'memory' and I always go through a similar process when I first get new devices. I discharge them completely. Then turn them off to charge completely and then discharge completely once more before normal use.
Battery "memory" only applies to the Nickel Cadmium days. Lithium Ion batteries do not have memory effects:
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/lithium-ion-battery.htm
"If you completely discharge a lithium-ion battery, it is ruined."
that is correct. li-ion batteries do not have "the memory effect". but this does seem to help setup the battery for best performance. it's been tested and tried at the g2x forum where i came from, and this method was released from HTC. someone just pasted it over on the g2x general forums since initially the battery had some serious issues. try it and repost. whats the worst that could happen? full battery?
This is called bump charging ave last time I checked nobody officially endorses it because it ruins the lifespan of LI-Ion batteries...
Cheek your sources dude. If HTC recommended it you wouldn't have to cut and paste it from forum posts to disseminate the idea. They would just put it in the User's Manuals for their devices.

Plus, what is HTC doing making battery recommendations for LG devices (G2x)?
i tried this, it helps. here is the original post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712990 it was from an evo4g user
ps. i think that the phone some how is not giving the % of the battery correctly. i have notice if i charge the phone and as soon it says its charge i unplug it, the battery drains quickly. but if i let it plugged about an hour after its says that is fully charge the power consumption its really good. it last in average like 16 hours with normal use.

if you have a problem then don't do it. im reposting because it works for me and it was for HTC. it probably did come from the evo forum because it was a repost on the G2x. they did not say anything about a g2x. if you trolls have a problem then ignore the thread, move on, and F*ck off. im here to help people with what worked for me, and many many others. get off of XDA. we don't need people like you bringing the site down. i've known too many devs who bounced because of people like you. get out or shut up. especially if you're just here to argue with no evidence of your own.

Actually you are the troll and ACTUALLY your post does say that it's recommended by HTC and actually this isn't news. It's bump charging and actually it means that you'll have to replace your battery sooner. Very mixed bag "analysis". For so much effort he failed to answer the most basic questions.
Does bump charging the battery once provide a capacity advantage that persists? If so, how much of an advantage? Is it the 15% quoted figure? If doing it once only lasts a while then how often should it be done? And how much would that actually shorten the battery life? If the normal battery life is 1 year, and I can get 15% more capacity each day but shorten the life by 2 months I would bump charge. If it cuts the battery life in half I would still be tempted, since OEM replacement batteries aren't that expensive.
What would be useful is a graph of bump charging frequency, percent increased storage capacity, and battery life. With that information we could make rational decisions.
When we can root our phones, it's best to charge the phone on the new rom and delete batterystats.bin and let it drain to 0%
That way android knows what is 100% and what is 0% and how many volts it is.

I think that you should edit your OP so that it does not say that bump charging is recommended by HTC, especially because it can and will lead to damaging your LI-Ion battery's overall lifespan and because it simply isn't true.
This is akin to creating a thread called "HTC phone improvement procedure" and then telling everyone that HTC recommends that they flush their phones down the toilet. Most people probably wouldn't believe you but it'd be pretty terrible if someone did simply because they believe that an experienced forum member wouldn't post mistruths that could lead to damaging their device or components of it, and claim that HTC recommends it.

[Q] Battery calibartion with multiple batteries

I have read a bit about calibrating our Sensations battery. I have bought 2 spare batteries on ebay (same mah) which are charged from a wall socket. Now my question is, will switching batteries mess up the calibration? Or does the device "know" which battery is used and apply a different profile or something like that?
Thnx!
I was wondering about that too. I just popped a larger battery in my Sensation and it seems to be giving me longer battery life, but I'm not sure I'm getting all I can out of it. Anyone out there have an answer to the calibration question?
Yes, and especially what happens if you keep switching batteries?
I'm actually half way making an app that switches the battery calibration. Is anyone interested?

battery upgrade question

I'm sorry if this has already been answered, i searched a couple times and didn't find anything relative....
I was wondering, are there any potential drawbacks besides battery shape and physical size when choosing to go from a 2100 mah battery to say a 2900 or 4500mah one of the same voltage?
I would really prefer my phone to not explode, but i would really like the extra juice if its a valid option. Part of me already thinks it may not be a great idea because I don't see too many threads about it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks for reading.

will my phone work well otherwise with a battery that powerful? (providing its well manufactured of course )
Is there a link to the said batteries you were looking at?
NFC for the Samsung SIII is built into the supplied battery, the official batteries sold by Samsung for the SIII should have this built in, however aftermarket batteries might not. Always check the product description to be sure.
Also, while both forms of short-distance communication, Bluetooth is a separate component from Near Field Communication, and wouldn't be affected by your battery.

I've also seen these external "battery extenders" floating around.....its basically a portable cradle for your phone that charges it.....if these batteries don't work I'll look into those. As you can probably tell, i'm a bit paranoid about running out of battery life.

[Q] VERIZON RETAIL USERS ONLY - Extended Batteries Question

I tried posting this in the Q/A section a couple of weeks ago,, with no luck. I thought I'd try here.
Please answer the question IF AND ONLY IF you are currently using the Verizon Retail Galaxy Note 4, SM-N910V, the one that is currently unrootable and has a locked bootloader. NOT the Developer Edition, where that particular bootloader IS unlocked and also this unit HAS been rooted.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I've read that people have been manually editing root files to get their Note 4's to correctly read the mA rating on extended batteries, or using apps that will calibrate your phone w/ your battery, and these apps require root access.
Have YOU, as a user of the Verizon RETAIL (NOT DE) Galaxy Note 4, tried using an extended battery, whether it be the 10,000 mA ZeroLemon Battery, the Hyperion 8,000 mA battery, or something else, and been successful in getting your device to correctly recognize the new battery capacity and does the percentage decrease correctly?
This is where I'm coming from. I'm on the Verizon Retail Note 4 and I have a ZeroLemon battery. It's still under warranty, but I'm about to send it back for a replacement. Basically, my phone would never recognize any different battery other than the stock size of 3220 mA. Not only that, the ZeroLemon would drain in percentage at the same rate of the stock battery, and stay at 1% for another 12 hours or so.
That said, I've heard people have had better luck with the Hyperion battery, in terms of getting the phone to recognize the battery, better, for whatever reason. What I DO NOT know, is if these are rooted and/or unlocked users of another carrier or not, or if the Hyperion battery is of better quality or of a different battery type.
Can someone comment on the issue, please?
No one has shown proof abd have had it duplicated that modding and file will show proper mah and correct battery life for zerolemon. Yes I have a note 4 from tmobile. And I have a hyperion that works perfect without any mod. The reason is hyperion is a single cell battery. Zerolemon is tricell. As per samsung tech not customer service. It will never read correct cause it does not drain equally. Will always give false reading.

Thank you for replying, and I do respect your opinion, even though you're a Tmobile user. Just a long shot, is there any knowledge of an app out there that can associate/calibrate the Note 4 with a TriCell battery, or would be able to help at all w/ the drainage %?
I have the anker 6400 MAH. I posted a review here http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/accessories/review-anker-6400-mah-extended-battery-t3093619
you can see the battery both charge and discharge with the correct percentage drop, because it is not a tri-cell it is just a larger battery.
as far as i know the tri-cell will and has always done this. there is some discussion in the note 3 forum on it also.
there are claims that editing would help but I remain unconvinced.

It is a hardware issue. All the zerolemon is 3 battery poorly glued together with tiny wire to connect them all so only one battery makes a connection with the phones pins. So as that drains down it feeds of the other one and that feeds off the last one. It just a bad design. So no app will ever fix that.

Let me ask you something. Lets say you use an app, like Charging TIme, which tells you the mA of the battery at full capacity, there might be other apps that do the same thing, or there might be a way to find out in the stock settings, that I don't know how. Would your battery register at 6400 mah or 3220?

Here you go, both the stock and extended, no different in that app, however, you can see the graphs it works correctly.
