[APP] TrueCaller - Hello World!

Hey guys, a week ago we released TrueCaller 2.0 for Android and it has been a huge success for us in the Nordic countries, however we have gotten little response from other countries. Can you guys please help us by letting us know, what works for you, which country your from and what phone you have. Also let us know what doesnt work for you.
TrueCaller 2.0 is a Caller ID application with the purpose of giving you more information about the people you communicate with, when you need it the most.
Features:
- Caller ID which displays the name/address or if not available country/statewhen making and receiving a phonecalls from numbers that are not already in your phonebook.
-Manual search for names and numbers
-Display a preview of incoming SMS
-Call filter which contains a managed list of known fraud numbers as well as a crowd-sources list of fraud numbers which our users create. Using the call filter you will be notified when you receive a call from a fraud number so that you can manage your time and calls.
-TweetCaller which lets you tweet your phonecalls onto Twitter so that you can keep people notified about your status.
-Update phonebook functionality which simply put itterates throught your phonebook contacts and update them with address information such as street/zip/city/area/country.
-Social Caller ID, by connecting TrueCaller to your Facebook and LinkedIn account you can now see your friends and colleagues latest profile picture and status information when you make and receive calls!
-TrueCaller now offers you CallerID+ giving our users the possibility to opt-in for a contact sharing database that is completely crowd-sourced and fully managed. By enabling it you will become a CallerID+ user and you will share your contacts with other TrueCaller CallerID+ users, in return you will have access to a more accurate Caller ID service with millions of more numbers!

Yes, TrueCaller isnt just your average CallerID
Differences are among others that we just take a one time fee and not a subscription.
We also offer tons of other features because we see the purpose of TrueCaller being giving our users timely information about whoever they communicate with no matter if its a colleague, friend or a unkown person. Also we want to improve TrueCaller and we take our users voice very much into consideration!

Why isn't the app available on Google Play anymore?

However, since it has been reported by other users that, after installing the app, TrueCaller uploads all of your contacts information to the developer's website, i have decided not to install it. Untill this feature of the app will be clearly explained i will try other apps.

ACtually there seems to be a similar app that is still available on google play. This app does the same thing as TrueCaller without the "upload your conacts to our database" feature. It is called WhosCall:

It seems the app is again available on the play store. Inside the description there is this note:
Important information:
Truecaller users on the Android platform downloaded from Google Play will until further notice NOT be able to contribute to the Truecaller directory, but will nevertheless experience the same level of service as if they had. In other words, Truecaller will NOT collect any information from your phone book.

It seems that they modified the behaviour of the app. I think i may give it a try now. What do you guys think?

I'am from Pakistan using i9500 Android 4.3
True Caller works like charm i downloaded it yesterday from Play Store,
but when i search some name its phone number is always private.

In true caller I cant send requests to get numbers. It always says failed. Try again.

[APP][1.6+] Balance update / USSD blocker

Hi Folks,
Some carriers send a USSD balance update message after each call, and sometimes after each data session on prepaid plans. This is very annoying, and SMS blockers won't stop these USSD messages.
I wrote an app to block USSD messages by keywords or regex. Works well for me in blocking my carrier's balance update messages.
My first android app, so please let me know if I can do something better.
Credits to commandus.com/blog/?p=58 for showing how to intercept these messages using the undocumented hook.
App is "com.melkote.quietbalance" on Google App Store. The v1.0 of the app is also attached to this post.

isn't working
Using galaxy s2 (AOKP 1CS ) If that matters.
I selected keyword and its not blocking ....

I've been looking for something like this for a long time but I just wasn't sure how to do it. I was told that these messages are not exactly USSD because USSD requires a code to be sent.
Also, thanks for the link to the blog with the sample code. I was looking for a way to make a widget that updates automatically using the intercepted message.

In my case the matching words are,last,call,
U can set this according to your ussd, n once you set you are ready to go,if some one wishes to be know their balance their can try prepay widget , n since it's not free i would like this feature to be incorporated in this app,

Thanks for all the feedback, here and elsewhere.
I've updated the app to ver 1.1 - this version adds a screen to show the last 25 messages and action taken (block or allow) and fixes a bug with blocking frequency.
You must reboot your phone if you update from 1.0 to 1.1 (or install either version).
As I'm a new XDA user, I can't edit the original post (due to presence of URL). So I've attached the APK to this post. If any moderators can move the APK file to the first post, it'll be great!

how to block idea data usage msg. ths app not banning class 0 message i.e. data usage

I'm on airtel n it's working for my data messages, so it should work on idea also
Just place the words that appear in your data balance ussd, like mb,last,charge,etcn you should be fine, you should reboot to get it started

I managed to use it on several messages that come through with different wording using the Keyword List.

The messages have stopped, which by itself is a great relief......earlier by the time i had waded through the layers of OK i was missing calls! Thanks talkative.
But the beeping still continues. Is there any way to turn that off too or have i missed something in the settings?

Not able to block the message bal pop ups
Hi I installed this app but itz not able to block the msgs.
When I tried to send the bulk sms from my sms application, I still recieve the balance messages from service provider.
How to block the messages? What to write the message matching string for that?

Multiple options to match strings would've been nice.

Works perfectly with Airtel. Just use keyword blocking list and add words like balance, validity, usage to it to block all messages. Thanks!

+1 Does it work on Jelly Bean too ?

It blocks the Message but Bip and Vibration is still there
Dear Developer,
Many congratulations for making such a wonderful app.
I found two problems with it.
1. It blocks the message but vibration and bip sound comes after every net session
(this has been solved by reinstalling) <s>2. When I send any code from my mobile to check balance e.g. *111#, it stop them too. I mean it keep showing "sending" on screen so message is not going out. </s>
I will appreciate if you look and check for above problems

Viber call record & messages?

Is there any way to
1. Automatically record viber calls
2. Retrieve viber messages
When I do not have root on that phone?

At this stage there is no way to record Viber calls - at least not through the app itself. If you would like to see this feature in future versions, then we invite you to enter our Feature Request page and post your suggestion there, or join an existing similar suggestion. The more people join on a request, the faster it will become reality

If by "retrieve messages" you mean to retrieve deleted Viber messages, then unfortunately this isn't possible since we (Viber) don't keep our users' chat history in our servers, as we respect user privacy. How to transfer viber messages to new phone (android)
I just migrated to a Samsung Notes 3 from Notes 2, is it possible to migrate the viber messages as well, as in Whatsapp the restore function was quite simple can the same be done on Viber.

It is only possible to export Viber's messages via email, but not to import them back onto Viber.
We are considering to add this option in future versions, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Well it seems that both video and photos are saved automatically but not voice massages!
Is that future coming soon?

We are looking into as a future feature, but we currently have no plans in place.

Only suggestion is on the recurring planned call is for, Daily for just weekdays Mon-Fri.

Internet permissions are required for Google Analytics only, but we will probably remove this in next version (I understand that some people may be concerned that an application that works with contacts requires an Internet connection). We don't send any private data from your device to our servers or 3rd party servers.

Hi, thank you for reporting this issue. Validation for phone number format has been removed in some 1.0.x version, but we were validating length of phone number (max. 15 chars). Today we released quick small update (1.1.4) that removes this validation / restriction. Please let me know if app now works correctly for you. Have a nice day

Ahem, a dumb question, if it's covered in docs, I apologize
Is there a way to actually execute a call, rather than, have a screen with 'call' button pop up?
IN my usage, I just want to send the ussd string/dial the number at scheduled time with no further interaction
Of is not there, what do you think of such option, do able? Of any real use, worth considering?

Looking into this further, apparently the carrier won't allow final digit included in the string, it gets ignored, and, needs to be entered 'interactively', so, my 'automated' used might need some interaction...
Anyhow, I'll try and see, thanks for your help

No, because at the moment thia feature is not available in my country, so I don't know anybody who has it enabled. That is why I am searching some other way.

@mrad4tech Call someone without an invite? Is the feature on for everyone?
