[Q]How To Change, Customize & Create Android Boot Animation - HTC Desire S

I found this guide here : http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-change-customize-create-android-boot-animation-guide/
My question is, can I use it on my desire s which is not rooted and is still S-On? I don't dare to try it cuz I dont want to brick my phone or something. Please help, thanks!

Hi!, although´you can create the bootanimation in your PC, you will not be able to replace the system file, so ultimately you can't change the bootanimation...

so meaning, I need to root my phone first? in order to change the boot animation?

you could install CM and then flash the stock boot screen animation over it,
Or you could create your own custom CM build with the stock boot animation

Then google or search the forum. Not sure if the Nexus S works like other phones but you normally would.....
You would first have to find the Nexus One bootanimation.zip (they're the same)
Place it in one of the system folders /system/media/
Reboot and see if it works.

^^ some don't need to be flashed... some do
it depends on the ROM, the method I posted above would probably not do any harm. If it works, it works.. if it doesn't then nothing will change.
Again, I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. Just passing the message by.

It depends on your skill level. It may be hard for you but easy for me . You could try this: http://builder.clockworkmod.com/ or building it from source (you'll need to do that for the ROM too).

It would be similar to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765542, but you'll need to change the device to yours. Have you tried the simpler method yet?

Of course that's gonna happen since its not for your device. That's why I said you'll need to change some stuff.

its not recommended. but if u want to do this, you have to open the mod.zip file you have. then go to system folder, copy files and place them in your system folder. if you are dealing with buildprop then add the lines from mod buildprop to your systems buildprop. then fix the permissions accordingly. and you are done.

why you want to install a mod in a device which don't even boot. first boot the device. if you are not able to boot device then its possibly bricked. Unbrick it and then use the mods.

Ok I think I misunderstood. I thought this was about installing a mod for recovering a bricked phone. I'll stand down.
Cheers
Not possible

If you don't have recovery, I assume that it is because you don't want to brick your warranty, which means that you have (possibly) not rooted your phone. I don't know of a way to mod your phone without rooting your phone. Android being made a secure way, without rooting you can't modify applications. So rooting your phone will get you access to plenty of mods. If you don't still don't want recovery, there is the Xposed framework available. cf. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
It permits you to mod without "patching" your phone.
ps: I'm french also, but it is not permitted to speak french (or non-English) in XDA
I hope I helped,
Etienne

Custom Boatloader Logo please help

Hey guy I have a phone store most of my work is installing new firmware to my customers most of the phones are Samsung and Sony and I want to add a custom logo to the firmware just after or before the stock logo is that possible like somehow i put it while flashing the rom or I must get root and download an application for that I mean I want it ready with the firmware I hope you get me :d thanks
Yeah that's possible, before the animation a logo is displayed. This is called a Splash Screen.
Read up info on Android Splash screens and how to apply them to a device.
Many info out there

You can't put it into a stock firmware. You can put it into a custom firmware.

It the boot animation a vital part of starting the phone?

You can use MotoBootLogoMaker to make your own https://github.com/Franco28/Moto_Boot_Logo_Maker.
I used an older one https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ker-source-code-included-version-2-4.2848667/ worked also fine. I haven't tested the first one till now.
The warning about unlocked boot loader cannot be removed on the hyper, even if you modify the corresponding image. If you find a solution for this please write a note.
