Problem with docking station - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I brought the 1st party docking station for the P500 (the SDT-140), and am having problems with it.
When I plug the phone via the dock into my powered hub, Windows complains that 'This USB device is not recognized'. Plugging directly into my computer, Windows recognizes the device, but tells me that 'This device can perform faster', and when copying files to the SD card, maxes out at ~1MB/s (compared to the 5-6MB/s i can get when copying to a USB pen drive). I have tried using a different cable, and different ports, but still have this problem, any ideas?
(P500 running stock firmware, V10b-DEC-13-2010, Android 2.2.1, kernel 2.6.32.9)

A possible fix
As this happened to me (but with other USB devices, not the phone) I can only suggest you this fix. Please note that you may temporarily lose control of your input devices (mouse and keyboard) if they are connected via USB.
- unplug all of your USB devices (except for the mouse and keyboard)
- open the Device Manager and uninstall all of your USB Host Controllers. They may have a longer name, such as "Intel ICH10 Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 3A3A" or whatever. This will also remove the corresponding USB root Hub.
- if you have a PS/2 keyboard, you will still have some control over the Device Manager window and will be able to continue without rebooting your computer. Using the keyboard's arrows, select the computer name at the top of devices' list. Press the "Menu" key (it's placed at the bottom right, between right Alt and right Ctrl and has a list select symbol on it). This is the equivalent of right-clicking with your mouse. Press down arrow to select the only option - "Scan for hardware changes" and hit Enter. This will detect and reinstall all of your USB controller drivers and re-activate all the USB ports.
- if you have an USB keyboard and it stops responding (because you just unistalled its USB controller) simply power off your PC using the power button and then turn it back on. The drivers will be reinstalled during the boot.
I hope this solves your issue with the low transfer speed, or maybe even the "This USB device is not recognized" problem. There's no risk involved with this procedure so just go ahead. Good luck!

Fixing the optimus 3d usb mass storage issue

Hello, I have been turning mad lately since my Optimus 3D began acting weird once I connected it to my PC to transfer large amounts of data in USB MASS STORAGE mode.
In the beginning, the transfer was ok and connection didn't show any problem. However, at a given (arbitrary) point, it just connected and disconnected by itself several times in just few seconds.
I thought it was the usb cable, so I changed it, but that didn't fixed it. Then I tried it with several other computers, and that happened randomly on all of them.
Then I thought it could be the micro-usb connector being damage, but as I closely analysed it in the computer side, I found that the phone was connecting ok, but was recognised the wrong way. (drivers were ok, as I reinstalled everything several times)
In fact, the LG update recognised the phone's model and connection. It simply didn't worked as a mass storage usb device.
I spent hours searching the web for answers about this issue, but the only thing I could found was one guy telling to remove the battery for 10 minutes in order really reset the phone's usb mode.
I did it and it worked! HOWEVER, the issue reapeared quickly once I connected the phone to the PC via USB. (it took several minutes to happen, but happened)
I finally found this forum and read a lot of complaints about LG phones.
However, it seemed to be a software error, not a hardware one. Wich was good news.
I was thinking to send the phone to LG for repair, but I had little hope they would even check such an arbitrary issue with usb connection and I thought they would simply say it's my computers fault, so I kept searching.
I finally found a similar issues with Galaxy S2 on the forums, and someone fixed it accessing the "PhoneUtil" hidden app in that phone.
This app don't exist in LG phones, but there IS a hidden menu to fix this, but you will have to install a free shortcut creator app form the market place in order to access it:
- download "ANY CUT" from the market place
- run it and create a NEW shortcut
- select ACTIVITY
- scroll down and tap on: com.lge.hiddenmenu.port_setting.PortSetting
- give the shortcut a short name like "Port Setting"
now you have created a new shortcut in your home screen (somewhere)
Once you tap on it, a menu will pop and let you choose the type of connection to be used by the USB port.
By default, "NO RETENTION" is selected.
If you want to force the phone to use the usb connection for data transfer with your PC, then select AP USB
(if you check the "retain AP USB after reboot" it will freeze your phone and you will have to long press the power button to shut it down, but it will actually work and will be set this way until you change it again)
Voila! That fixed my LG P920 Optimus 3D USB transfering issues.
If you need to make a software upgrade at some point instead of using it for USB transfer, just change the setting to "NO RETENTION" again and check the "reatin after reboot" option.
I just wanted to share this, as I found no fix for my problem in the net and I think this should be happening to someone else.
Feedback is very welcome! (even needed, just in case this is braking something)
By the way, it's a good idea to activate the "Debugging mode for USB" in settings/applications since it seems to make a more robust conection with the phone for mass storage transfer.
As why this entire issue is happening, it seems the USB conection can handle multiple transfer modes. One of those is USB Mass Storage mode (like every pendrive out there) but the other one is a LG propietary comunication mode that I suppose was done in order to have full access to the phone firmware through the computer.
The bug appears in the moment when the phone have to decide if it should engage on mode or the other.
I have noticed (since I forced the port setting to AP USB) that the phones screen will turn itself on randomly once connected and that it don't stay active even if you specifically check that option in the development menu.
I suppose the original bug is still there in someway, but at least it will not ruin the data transfers.
Ok, just in case you don't want / can't make the shortcut for the hidden menu, you can use this method to access the full hidden menu right out of the box without any external app:
push the button to make a call,
now enter the number:
3845#*920#
This will redirect you to the full hidden menu. Once there, you can go to the PORT SETTINGS menu and set it to AP USB.
And if you want to upgrade with the LG software, you must set this to AP USB and make it stay. Then when you are upgrading, you must stay vigilant and press (and keep pressed) the volume up button in the moment it reboot the phone (or before it reboots, just to be sure)
This way, a white screen with red text "factory upload" will show and upgrades will have no problems.
(this mode normally only happens when you press the volume up button with the phone off, and then connect it to the usb port and there is an LG software commanding the phone via usb)

Help me recovering Samsung Galaxy Mini II

Hello.
Short story: my phone was a little wet and i have some issues with it, mostly i want to get a mass storage to get working. (cant root)
Basically at first the phone didn't even want to charge, when i connected it to the PC windows was giving me an error that the device cannot be recognized, and couldn't install the drivers. (i had Kies installed)
I dried it completely, now the phone turns on without any problem, when i connect it to the pc the phone is recognizing connection (i hear sound + the button backlights are firing up for a sec)
Homever, windows is not detecting any USB device at all, and in about phone/info it says the phone is connected to the AC instead of USB.
When i connect it with USB there is no dropdown in notification to choose from charging, storage etc.
There is also manual usb storage mounting under settings/communication/usb settings , when i'm trying to mount here it just says to connect the phone with usb cable (not detecting connection, homever the backlight + sound is here after connecting, and it's charging)
I tried connecting it with usb debugging on/off even tried to fiddle with in service menu (*#7284#) but nothing.
And since i cannot get the usb storage working basically i cannot flash anything or root it.
Also the USB cable is not a Samsung but an HTC one, could this be a problem? (people in different thread said those cables are the same so it shouldnt be a problem, same amperage, same stick etc.)
Even tried to install MountUSB Widget from market, but it doesn't work when im trying to start the app it's force closing, when i make widget on desktop and press it the phone just vibrate for 1 sec and nothing happens.
When i connect phone with Kies AIR and it works, i mean it shows the storage information, also recognize the phone model correctly, how much free space i have on internal and on SD card but i cannot click "show in explorer" it's greyed out.
Any experts out there could help me? :crying:
Just a blind guess, try a USB cable which supports your device. If it doesn't help, I'm afraid it's a hardware problem and you will have to consult some hardware expert.

[Solution] USB Device Not Recognized (Riddle Me This)

After hours of troubleshooting, uninstalling/reinstalling USB drivers and Samsung Mobile USB Drivers, modifying Windows' registry, etc. I've come to the conclusion that the problem might be the USB cable that came with my Galaxy S6. But there's a catch...
When I plug my S6 into my Win7 desktop (back USB port, regardless of 2.0 or 3.0) using the cable that came with it, a fresh device installation results in the phone registering properly, then reverting to "Unknown Device" just seconds later. If I plug it in again any time after that, it will say "USB Device Not Recognized" and register as an "Unknown Device" in Device Manager - all it will do is charge.
BUT, plugging my S6 into the same USB port in my desktop using both a cable that came with the S3 and another that came with the S7, they both result in a properly registered device in Device Manager which allows both data transfer and charging.
Riddle me this: The catch is, when I plug my S6 into my Win8.1 laptop using the original cable, it registers properly and allows data transfer and charging.
Is there an explanation for this? The fact that the original cable doesn't work with my desktop but works with my laptop sounds like a driver issue - though using different cables in the same desktop port working properly makes it sound like a cable issue...

B130DL (BLU View 2) automatically ejecting USB device

I have a custom designed & built USB hub board, where multiple such boards have been working with multiple android devices for multiple years. One thing I can always do with a new USB device is plug my board into the Android device, then plug a USB thumb drive into one of my boards hub inputs, and then from the Android device use Google Files to view the contents of the "disk" (the USB thumb drive). Note that most times I must first go to Settings, turn on Developer Options, and change the Default USB Configuration to allow File Transfer.
Now I'm trying it out with the very inexpensive B130DL. I've changed Default USB Configuration to allow File Transfer. I plug a USB thumb drive into my hub board in advance, and I plug my usb hub board into the B130DL in advance. Then I power up the usb hub board. SUCCESS... a moment later the BL130DL shows that USB trident icon at the top. From Google Files I'm able to view the contents of this disk. UH OH... a moment later I get a message that the usb device has been ejected. (I believe this message comes from Google Files. If I'm not currently running Google Files, I don't see this eject message. I just see the USB trident icon go away.)
Note that the B130DL is [disliking] my USB hub, specifically. If I plug in both B130DL and USB thumb drive, then it takes about 6.5 seconds from powering on the hub board to when the B130DL shows the USB trident icon. Then it takes another roughly 9 seconds for the USB trident icon to go away again. If I do the same test, plugging in the USB thumb drive 3 seconds after powering on the hub board, then the same things happen based on timing from powering on the hub board. Also, once ejected, removing and replacing the USB thumb drive doesn't repeat the test. I must remove and replace hub board power to repeat the test. In essence, it seems like the B130DL is ejecting the hub and thus everything on it. Meanwhile, a separate USB OTG cable works indefinitely when plugged into the B130DL. Note as well that this very same usb hub board works great and continuously when plugged into a different phone (Samsung A01, Android 11). I've been swapping between phones (B130DL and A01) repeatedly to make sure I haven't broken my hub board in any way. Also, In the past, this usb board has worked with Android 9 and 10. The B130DL is Android 10.
So what about the B130DL is it that causes it to first work with my usb hub board and then eject it? Any good ideas? Again, note that the problem is NOT intrinsically with my custom usb hub board, because that works great with many other Android devices. It's this specific B130DL that has the problem. True, it might be customized by BLU to refuse a number of USB OTG devices. Or it might be customized by BLUE to do something else. This is my question.

Pixel 2 won't connect/charge to PC via USB-C

My Pixel 2 won't connect or even charge via the USB-C port on my W10 desktop PC. I think everything worked the first 2-3 times I connected it to the PC. I have tried two USB-C cables. Neither will even charge the phone but both will work with my Fire tablet and wife's android tablet when connected to the PC. Both cables will charge my Pixel when connected to a wall charger and both will at least charge my Pixel when connected to my wife's W10 work laptop via USB-C port. My desktop will not even charge the Pixel when I am in the BIOS via the USB-C. I also tried connecting with the Pixel in Safe Mode and it still will not even charge. Everything works as expected when connected to my desktop PC via USB-A ports. I would really appreciate some help on sorting this out. Thanks!
You probably did this, but have you tried enabling the developer menu and updating the default USB configuration? If not, follow these steps:
•Go into your Settings menu
•Scroll down to the About Phone menu (maybe named differently on your phone)
•Scroll to Build Number and tap it 7 times until a popup appears that states you're now a developer
•The Developer menu will appear either on the bottom of your main Settings menu, in the System menu or elsewhere. * (If you cannot find it, use the search field within your Settings menu to search for the Developer option.)
•Once in the Developer menu, scroll down to the Networking section, then tap on the Default USB Configuration option. From there select the option for charging or No File Transfer. (It maybe named differently)
This should work.
↓
•If this does not work, try opening your Device Manager in Windows, then select the option from the View drop-down (I believe) that says display hidden devices.
•Now scroll down to the bottom and locate the usb-c port and right click it.
•Select Properties and update the driver.
•You may also see your phone in the list, greyed out. If you do, right click it and select uninstall.
•Next go to Settings in Windows and click Devices.
•Scroll to the Autoplay option and turn it off.
•Now connect your phone again and you should see a popup that asks what you want to do with the device. There should be a charging option or one that says do nothing. Select it.
If this doesn't work there are other workarounds...
