I was wondering if anybody with the phone has tried the superoneclick root app with this phone. It works with the LG g2x running froyo so it should probably work with this phone too
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
good question!!
Please somebody with the phone jus use this app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Im pretty sure the exploit used works with all froyo running phones, so I don't see why it wouldnt work for the optimus 3D, specially since LG has been extremely dev friendly lately, I doubt they patched it up
Confirmed!
It works!
We have root!

why wouldn't you just root your evo? 2.3 has been out for a while, I'm using it on my sprint hero.. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for sprint to update to 2.3
I might be kicking a dead horse but I don't really like the design of the Echo; the idea is cool but the actual functionality might be lacking; for me anyway.
Having two screens will have a bigger rain on the battery and reviews have stated that the phone slows down a bit when simultaneously using different applications.

See I would root my evo but there is just so much work involved in acctualy getting to the point of flashing rom's and I don't know much about what I would have to do inorder to do it. Also I've only had it since December 1st and don't want to risk bricking it. Also from what I heard the GB roms are pretty unstable...

No, rooting is easy as pie, and CM7 is extremely stable.

It's almost impossible to brick an Evo, and I mean that. All you do to root is go to Unrevoked.com and download the application and run it with your phone connected. It's not hard at all. Flashing a ROM is as easy as downloading a ZIP file and putting it on your memory card, and then going into the recovery menu and choosing it. There's even protection built in that checks the integrity of the ZIP before flashing it, so if there's something wrong with it, it won't flash.
Anyways, when your run Unrevoked, it will root your phone and add a custom recovery image, but it won't flash a different ROM, so you have nothing to worry about.
unrevoked took 10 min on my phone, been flashing zips since jan 1
I got my Evo on September 1st, which I think was before Unrevoked was released (or at least before I knew about it). I did it the hard way. But after going through a bunch of replacement Evos, I've been using Unrevoked. I love how you can flash any recovery image you want with it.
Ok ill give it a shot but what do you guys recommend? Unrevoked forever or unrevoked 3? I don't know the difference... also how do you get clockwork recovery or whatever? Or is it not needed. Any help is very much appreciated.

Just download Unrevoked. Unrevoked Forever is included and is just the portion that sets your bootloader to S-OFF (allows you to flash other ROMS). It's completely reversible in case you need to take your phone in for repair or exchange. I'm saying this from experience.
After Unrevoked, download ROM Manger from the Market and go to town.

It only works if you have downgraded your ROM to the DHD rom first.

The error is a spoof, just reboot, it installed.
With that said, anyone else have screen dim when loading the new LG Camera. When I pull battery and reboot the dimmed screen goes away, any other work around, as I hate pulling the damn battery.
Is there an easy way to root the official OTA? I want to remove some bloatware and flash the LG cam. The reason I'm on the stock official is because of the baseband which made a huge difference for me (and as far as I know, there's no other way to get it)
Thanks in advance

hmm.... It gets stuck at step 5...
See post 4 above. Xboarder provider rooted v21e OTA, you can flash over the LG update. It will preserve the baseband. Then simply flash the LG Camera.
Xboarder also provided a bloat remover.zip that you can apply that removes all the TMobile bloat. It could not be simpler.

If I understand correctly, this will replace the Gingerbread camera with the Froyo camera. It doesn't sound like it's possible to have both on the phone at the same time -- is that right?
The reason I ask is that I'm really much happier with the way the Gingerbread camera works with the flash; the Froyo camera generally overexposed nearby things, but the new camera does a good job of regulating the flash and shutter. I'd like to have all the bells and whistles (that I haven't needed yet but might be handy someday) from the Froyo camera, but I'm not willing to sacrifice the improvement in flash photos (which is something I do pretty often).
Hey everyone! I have recently obtained an EVO Shift and will be making lots of how to videos for it! I do see there are a lot of written guides, but no videos. I know. Metro. I'm sad too, but money is low right now. Anways, since I can't find a section for this phone I have a few questions: Can you root 2.2? Why won't this thing let me change my input method (keyboard)? I don't like Swype. And if root is not possible, is there a way to remove the Metro PCS bloatware? This would be a decent phone if it weren't for all the bloatware. In any case, thanks guise

I just successfully rooted my girlfriends Metro LG Optimus M using gingerbreak. Hers came with and was still running 2.2.1. I checked before rooting it. GingerBreak 1.2 worked. z4Root only works on the phone if you have 2.2.
